Very productive fly !! I love tying & fishing this type of fly & watching various fish slam the fly. My Intruder box will be getting some spots taken by a new tasty treat for Smallies & Michigan Steelhead !! Thanks David M. Clunk - Fisher-of-Men Fly Tying Ada, Michigan
Gunner can't wait till you find out about Jerry Frenchs flys I think he is one of the most creative guys out there
Awesome tie/video,your view point at the end is spot on,2 patterns that come to mind are the woolly bugger & clouser have caught warm water or cold water species & how fish attack or take a streamer is spot on,been fly fishing/tying for a very long time & to see a younger tier with your talent & view point makes me smile, tight lines & bent rods
Another incredible video !! Been building flys for 30 years, you are an inspiration to me.
Simply simple , and as far as cost to build and durability way better than Rea and lady Amherst and with all the available materials in so many colors the combinations are endless. Thanks :)
Darn it Gunnar!!!!
You will keep me busy until fall!! 😉
Your thinking on hook position and head eaters is inspirational. I’m taking the things I enjoy with Steelhead and Salmon to Tiger fish. BUT Tigers are head eaters. My trip last month was a disaster for hooking and landing. I go to my next trip with confidence and the fly.
Nice! Always looking for a new fly to add to the bronze box. Great video layout as well.
Swinging for whites, wipers, stripers, in a char/white holographic flash,,,,,, should be FANTASTIC! In tail races,, spillways,, inlets,, behind dams,, may work when channel catfish run as well,, now that would be a blast!
Your videos are so in depth detailed they have helped me out alot. I got my fly tying set up on may 14/ my bday lol.....so ive been learning the ropes since then. A question i have.....although i dont yet have a huge selection of materials like u do.....is how do u decide what colors of what materials go into a fly? Does it matter at all? Or do u just throw whatever together and “BAM” it looks fantastic lol. Which every fly i have watched u tie looks fantastic. Thank u for all your posts. They are extremely helpful and very detailed. Explaining as u go is the big plus.
Awesome insight ✌️
Good stuff
Welcome back. How was your trip South.Nice variation by the way.
Could one use Ostrich instead of the rhea??
Greetings: is this pattern suitable for a tube fly? Thanks
One thing you didn't mention.. with steelhead flies the #1 rule is a tear drop shaped fly.. the reason why is every prey item that swims has that teardrop shape.
Do you sell any of these?
I find better quality ostrich at craft stores for less than half the price of a fly shop. Lady Amherst on the other hand is 16$ a feather and you can't find it anywhere but fly shops.
👍🐠👈
How much do you sell each budd
No longer sell flies, sorry man
Imagine fishing these on the skeena and losing 10 after all that work. Simple is best
