Paul Warburg pointed out that Zelensky made a speech in which he said less than 10% of promised US military aid has arrived. This means Ukraine can do without US military aid in a pinch. Trump has very little leverage in this regard. Moreover, the Ukraine industrial-military base has developed now, enabling long-distance strikes into Russia. Also, Ukraine has refrained from hitting certain Russian oil targets on the Black Sea, as this will drive up oil prices, causing the US President some grief. If Trump removes aid, they are free to wreck havoc on oil prices. Without leverage, Trumps threats to Ukraine are useless.

And then there's that small issue that if Ukraine feels abandoned and Zelensky believes they have nothing left to lose, they could just build a few baby suns, attach them to drones, and fling them at Russia's oil refineries. The radiation would make it impossible for people to repair the sites for years.

Well, i don't think that, that is kinda blackmail. There was a treaty signed by both US and Russia who pledged to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity and borders. Russia already broke that, so if US stops supporting, partnering with Russia or decide new borders would brake that treaty, and other treaties around the world would be questionable, can other countries trust US?. I mean, thats how i see it.

The EU population is over 3 times that of Russia and the EU economy is hugely more. The EU should be well placed without the US, to cope with Russian aggression. If they can’t then it needs to change and change quickly.

Additional multi-year packages have been commited by Denmark, Uk, Sweden, Portugal and Lithiania. European countries have provided the most aid in total (military, financial and humanitarian). Most of the US funding supports American industries who produce weapons and equipment.

I have had enough of all these self defined "expert" pundits commenting on things that didn't happen yet, through the glasses of their ideology. Trump didn't say anything yet about his plans for the russo-ukrainian war, let him speak first and only then go ahead and comment. Learn how to do proper journalism.

Much of this analysis is reasonable but your comment on Trumps motivation around the 2.5% of GDP is absurd. Trump is not actually a “businessman”. This is such basic thinking. He was just using the 2% number as a tool. Now that’s been crossed he will up the number. It’s not strategic at all. It’s not a business deal. It’s all for political theatre. How do you not see that.

OK Look. For Trump, helping Ukraine against Russia is too difficult to achieve especially if Ukraine should win. Easier is to sell Ukraine. Also cost more and Trump would be seen OK by people who voted for him. So because he is a weak person, Ukraine will have to loose.

Times Radio brought out another loony.😂😂😂 Putin stated his conditions for even starting negotiations on the basis of Istanbul quite clearly. 1. Full Ukrainian withdrawal from the regions that are included in Russian constitution; 2. Recognition and acceptance from Ukraine that these regions are Russian; 3. Acceptance of Ukraine's neutral status. Istanbul also included restrictions on Ukrainian army armaments and a number of personal. Russians categorically rejected any freeze of the conflict Korea-style. These conditions can get only tougher by the time. Even Trump wouldn't be able to accept these conditions explicitly without a coup attempt against him, but he could do it implicitly by cutting Ukraine's sustenance and turning the page.

With a Google search, you can see who and how much European countries have supported their own defense. Philip commented that some lately haven't met their obligations to NATO. I will point out that most have never met their obligations.
One commenter pointed out on another channel about this topic that summed up this whole thing, "You want to know why the US doesn't have universal healthcare and pays 500 percent more for medicines..."
Countries in Europe with more per house incomes let others pay their bills. And then they buy Russian gas. France stands up and says EU money to buy weapons for Ukraine needs to be EU businesses. In all of EU, they have one, ONE, assembly line to make shells that go boom. ONE, three years later.
I support NATO as an American. I support EU as an American. I support Ukraine. Don't play me as a fool. Once we get this solved, we are done.
    - EU GDP vs US GDP (PPP) go look it up.

Linking healthcare to defense spending is absurd. The reason merkins dont have UHC is because they would rather pay massive amounts of income to private profiteers than vote for slightly more tax and regulation.
Next you be saying Europeans have less school shootings because they spend less on defense............

I like your suggested settlement, with demilitarized zones (donbass) and protectorates (Crimea), and Ukraine not joining NATO for 10 years. I would add this proviso: "If Russia attacks again at any point, Ukraine WILL IMMEDIATELY join NATO."

    • @axelvanhooren6325
      @axelvanhooren6325 22 минуты назад

Putin wants to subdue, annexe, control the entire Ukraine. He couldn't do it with his puppet Yanukovych. Then he tried with a coup which failed. This turned into a full scale invasion and war. His failing again. Therefor he asks Ukraine to be neutral (not protected by the West, by NATO) and with no army, leaving Ukraine totally vulnerable. If Russia attacks, Ukraine won't be able to join NATO since NATO do not accept countries with territorial conflicts.
It's all about Ukraine's territories, population and rights that are given away because of a brutal aggression. Neither Ukraine, nor the West nor the world can afford it. It's not about territory, it's about population, resources, strategic land giving Putin much more power (control of energy flow to Europe, huge part of world's grain export, military industry, control over the Black Sea, ...). Think about what Putin can do with it.
Also, a DMZ would require an entire NATO army... for how long? This is very costly.
