- Jordan Peterson, the Canadian psychologist and academic best known for the self-help book 12 Rules for Life, has become a guru to many young men on the political right for wading into contested debates around gender and free speech.
Now he wants to introduce his audience of millions to religion, with a new book that argues the Bible is the ideal foundation for modern society.
Tim joins Kamal to reflect on his wide-ranging interview with Peterson, why he’s so popular and what - if anything - we can learn from him.

Kamal seems to be epitome of the Woke nonsense we have to suffer.
These two are missing the point.
@@nobody.special.basically they're desperately fighting to hold onto their moral superiority in the face of society telling them they're wrong. If they're finding it hard to digest, or at least listen to these views, how can they not sympathize with the public who finds it impossible to listen to them.
The challenger journalist makes absolutely no sense, he's completely misrepresenting Peterson! Shame
Yea they seem pretty dumb.
So Jamal has rejected his father's Muslim faith whilst defending its equal value against Peterson's choice of the primacy of the Judaeo Christian West. Yet he leans into the freedom the West allows in order to maintain this dichotomy.
Hey Google, show me two men who live in a metropolitan, liberal bubble who fundamentally just *don't get it*.
Exactly! Why didn't Telegraph upload this whole interview without any cuts, but framed it in this criticizing way of these two journalists whining about their moral superiority while undermining Peterson's claims and willfully misrepresenting Peterson in order to create this ideologized frame for the public. Shame
This is some of the most insufferable discussion on Peterson on the internet, and with strong competition.
Sometimes I don't know if such commenters are ignorant, or just pretending.
They should get sacked. It’s an insult to us Telegraph readers.
They are most likely sincere. People see world through their own filter
Kamal comes across as very ill-informed about the subject of the interview (Peterson). He listens to one shortish interview and from that alone decides to criticise. Halfway through he also allows his Muslim descent to blind him to the obvious problems within that faith. Islam has invented nothing of meaningful use for best part of a thousand years.
Given the the amount of source material how can he not know about Jordan Peterson?
And he thinks he's a journalist
Kamal is too arrogant to give Jordan any credit. K admitting to knowing him would mean Jordan is important and relevant - something K simply can’t acknowledge.
Can The Telegraph release just the unedited interview and spare us the commentary? Maybe we can be allowed to reach our own conclusions.
Thank God for Jordan Peterson. He has been an important part of the restoration of manhood, which has been missing for decades. Thankfully there are now quite a few courageous men in the battle which rages all around us.
As Tim points out the ultimate model of masculinity is Jesus Christ, who selflessly gave his life to redeem His fallen world for sheer love.
Why didn't Telegraph upload the interview on its own without these two journalists whining about their moral superiority and what they think constitutes everything Peterson's arguing for, why wasn't this uploaded as a clear, uncut, honest interview? Shame!
This Kamal guy is insufferable
Asking someone with an anxiety or phobias to imagine the worst is a typical approach to anxiety, obsessive, or panic disorders. It's called imaginal exposure and it's part of CBT.
If i was Jordan i would not have liked this guys interpretation and explanation of his views

Agreed.
lol
These two are really scrambling for reasons to disagree with Peterson instead of really attempting to understand what he's presenting. Trotting out the well worn feminist trope that a man can't really understand women, not even if he's a trained psychologist apparently.
Also the cheap tactic of mentioning Russel Brand.
The ending of this piece is nice and positive but the people who really needed to hear that would have checked out long back when their biases were confirmed by these two.
Yeah, I couldn't suffer my way through to the end. This was like a masterclass on how not to present an interview on RUclips.
5 edits withing the first 30 seconds of Jordan speaking? I'm out.
Fellow viewers - there is a reason the Peterson discussion is edited, and this post analysis discussion absent of Jordan… They KNOW Jordan would successfully rebut these shallow criticisms without any difficulty.
Would have much preferred to just see the interview for myself.
Kamal in particular wasnt very good or effective in his attempt at misrepresenting what Peterson said to appear intellectually superior.
These two guys trying to photograph JP 😂😂, they will need 1000hrs of listen to him talking about his ideas to really understand what he really mean, it took me a lot of time/years for me but at then I can surely say he is 100% right
Why is Kamal working for a right wing publication?
Would love to see how Mr Kamal could juggle a few grapefruits while having a discussion with Dr. Peterson.
Trying to explain chess using checkers.
What Jordan Peterson refers to when he talks about Fear of flying, is called Fear setting. Look at your fears, understand what the core issue is, it will like be due to loss, chaos and survival. Then create a plan to respond to each and everyone of those scenarios. Review your fear afterwards, actually it out in a safe setting (exposure therapy) then reflect on your progress
I see our nature as of service… following a careful path between control and being controlled… co operation is the only right way. All the animals are doing it. Sacrifice is not necessary in nature (only to feed the body)
The bible of dog is a good guide 🙏🐾
I want to introduce a new theory of the existence of God. The ultimate goal of evolution is the birth of God. God is currently in the embryo, He has not yet been born, and this embryo is living, intelligent beings that must evolve into a species that has the properties of the Biblical God. This theory does not contradict either religion or science. It makes peace between them. Besides, it solves the problem of theodicy. God does not allow evil in the world, He is simply not born yet, and when this happens, there will be no evil.
So good to see a thoughtful comment like this , thanks 🙏
Nonsense.
@@danl.909 now this is another kind of comment: replying to someone who puts themselves out there and is showing something of themselves, and simply dismisses the comment, without offering anything at all in return. It’s cowardly and lazy, and all that can be gleaned from it is that there’s someone out there who is attempting to feed a false positive self image by putting someone else down.
that does actually make sense
cause theres a counterfeit god who is particular to the constitution of humans regarding body plan and so on
so your thing makes sense and i would add i suspect more than one counterfeit but rather many of them and each particular to a species
that said however the counterfeit exposes the true one at some point so that should be universal even if the many counterfeits should be particular
This is fascinating and I find myself in agreeance. I’m going to research whether this theory has a name
Love JP at h8s best. Thanks
Trying to get views by having "peterson" in the title...
i finally figured out why Jordan Peterson hates Postmodernism so much, because he got a wrong, biased, left, political view, maybe too much Foucault, or the worst of Derrida, but in fact postmodernism is a philosophical inquiry, it's not left or right, it's the age of "rethinking" and also it's quite simply the era after modernism proper . .i think all those that misconstrue postmodernism seem to suggest the philosophy just wants to deconstruct everything for the sake of destabilizing it for it's own sake, which is ridiculous and absurd, but many many people seem to think so, or even seem to approve of that function, but that's not how i received the teaching, or how it was taught to me, or how i understood the logical imperative; that is, that the whole point of destabilizing is not to tear apart, but to build, or rebuild and build every thing afresh, on it's own terms, to build or rebuild anew and afresh without bias, with preconception and prejudice, without preconceived judgements, . . .when postmodernism was taught and introduced to me i wholeheartedly applauded and embraced it, nothing political whatsoever crossed my mind, and furthermore i think it even connected with my rejected Judeo-Christian upbringing, that is, it resonated with a TRUTH-seeking disposition firmly embedded in my soul; and even for his hate of Derrida, who i agree may have become a bit of charlatan or showman as much as philosopher, was himself from Jewish upbringing as well, a fact which i think profoundly influenced his sensibility, he is off the mark in many things perhaps, regarding Derrida's philosophy, . . again i think it was a ( bad ) reading of Foucault or some of the other thinkers that may have clouded his thinking about it being anything other than a neutral perspective on the age of rethinking; it's an analysis of the preceding generation, modernism, and all of pervious history for that matter, which is a good thing, if it's used for good that is, postmodernism is NOT a byword for leftist social 'justice' warriors, OR for the WOKE generation!!! my apology in advance for this little rant/tirade : ) . . i'm after all a fan of your subject, not a foe . .
Definitely too much editing 😅
Peterson is looking at the psychological implications of stories. Yes, Genesis doesn't talk directly about the feminine trying to welcome and integrate the poisonous but it seems fair to me to infer such ideas. Tim accepted the idea of the serpent as Satan but that isn't in the original text either. That was extrapolated from the text later.
Glad I stopped watching after a few minutes. These two completely miss the genius of Peterson. Simply reading on rule and expecting to understand the entire chapter is really silly.
Suggest the gentlemen studies the Quran.. stating Islam has done as much in history LOL
Peterson is one of 5gose who refuses any new information into his life!
Oh. Like what. And don’t include anything that was accomplished by Jews or Greeks that were conquered.
👍
Muslim is newer than Christianity
I love Jordan, but I don't particularly appreciate how he keeps propping up Russell Brand. To borrow a line, he's intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity. Give me a break, Jordan.
Oh, Jordan Peterson. Another ramble about lobsters and woke-marxist-leninist people and some other nonsense I have no idea about. What is this guy's point actually?
First common
As God stated in a comment: I created life, but this guy?
More utter woke nonsense from Jordan Peterson
Dr. Peterson is definitely not "woke"! The opposite is true.
There is no god
I’d rather have Calvinism than Petersons psychobabble!
@@robbaker1841 Not much difference, fundamentally. Both are a load of BS.
The "psychobabble" explained so that average person can understand it without too much thinking is called religion.
JP is nutz. At one point he had a few good ideas, but these days..... bonkers.
Crybaby Peterson still trolling for clicks.
Why are we bullying man showing emotions? Not cool 🫵
