My original goal was 600whp with deka 80s and a single walbro 450 but I'm moving soon and don't know where yet so I'm hesitant to commit to e85 just in case the area I end up moving to doesn't have e85 easily accessible. Can you explain the difference between tuning with Lamda vs AFR? Have you ever done that?

    • @bransonfleischman2233
      @bransonfleischman2233 5 лет назад +2

      Thomas Cahill lambda is just the ratio of air to fuel. It is on a scale of 0 being only fuel 1 being stoichiometric and above one being more air than fuel. To convert lambda to AFR for gas, multiply whatever the lambda is by 14.7. (stoichiometric for gas) a wideband calibrated for gas will read 14.7 AFR at lambda 1 out of the box.
      If you run e-85, your lambda is still 1, but your actual AFR is 13.5. On a wideband calibrated for gas, the gauge will read 14.7 if you have an actual AFR of 13.5. it’s just how the fuel burns. Lambda is the same for everything, so it’s nicer for stuff if you tune on weird fuels, but anyone can correct with a normal wideband.

    I don't understand why you just dismiss the water-methanol so quick... a lot of us don't have the opportunity to run E85 cuz it's not where we are but it should be a great alternative. I've been running water meth for over a decade and there's a huge difference in my setup granted it's not an LS it's an old straight 6 that's boosted. I get knock around 17 18 degrees without the water meth on 24-25 lb of boost and with the water meth I run the same at 24 degrees and it's a drastic change. dialing in your nozzle size and when it comes on is the hardest part you want it to be on the verge of spitting because it's too much octane as boost is coming on but once it's at fullboost it's in The Sweet Spot all the way to redline... sounds like he's got a small nozzle in it. Don't take my ignition timing numbers the same as an LS ignition. LS are way more efficient than my old piece of shit.
