For anyone saying “why didn’t she just leave?”l…it’s obvious you’ve never been in that situation. I was a child in the situation. My mother took years to leave my father because she had to come up with an elaborate plan that took a long time to execute and after that he tried to run her off the road and kill her. Also, you have to leave during a time of peace when they don’t expect it, not when things are at their worst. So many end up dead when they try to “just leave”….it’s not that simple at all.

    • @AtonalApple

Exactly! So many women end up murdered or missing when they “just leave”. My mom had us four kids and none of the DV shelters would let my brothers come. People that say “just leave” have obviously never experienced DV and are just blindly throwing out their ignorant opinion.

This is the difference between Amber Heard and a real victim of domestic violence. There are no flowery details, no fake tears, no dramatics, no turning toward the jury every 5 seconds to cry, then turning back ice cold. You can see the way she is sitting, a bit hunched, meek, almost like Johnny Depp during his trial. You can't fake domestic violence the way that Amber thought she could. All of her theater revealed her lies. I am so glad that she was acquitted. This woman is telling the truth.

Her story mirrors mind almost exactly. His constant baiting and bullying tactics were identical to my ex husband's behaviors. Only difference was he pinned me down with an H and K automatic rifle on Christmas eve. I managed to get loose from his grip. I begged my children to call 911 but no one did. They just told me that if i was good, daddy would stop. I ran away barefoot to a neighbors house. She called 911. The police came but did nothing . I was the one ordered to leave. I did. I went back to our apartment in Manhattan while he got the kids and the house. Yes i went back. He would pull a gun on me at least 2 more times. I saw no way out. I finally just told him to be a good dad to my kids whom i lived more than life itself and I left and never came back. I lost evetything but i am alive today to tell my story. The law never helps you. The judge was mean and flippant. He even chastized me for staying as long as I did. I had nowhere else to go. He did nothing to protect me from this monster. . I was homeless for 2 years. I finally graduated from nursing school and got my life back. I am now remarried to the most amazing man in the world. He treats me like a queen always trying to make up for all that I suffered at the hands of this monster. But God is good. This monster has shut himself up in his little apartment building like a hermit. He never goes out and he is a prisoner of his own sick mind. I live in sunshine and have traveled and done so much after leaving him with just the clothes on my back almost 30 years ago. But this reminds me of like it was yesterday.

@@76482 That's a fair question. I watched that too. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people that blindly believe something regardless of the evidence presented. It is very damning for her case, but when taken into account the past that she experienced at the hands of an aggressive domestic abuser, it would be difficult for one to know how you'd react in the same circumstances. There's so much to unpack in this case, but when I watch how she talks and explains herself, I feel that she is very honest albeit 'matter-of-fact' about the situation.
She absolutely should have called 911 immediately, but when I think of just some of the things that were running through her mind, like stopping your aggressor, the overwhelming emotional feeling must have come to her as it sinks in that she just killed her husband... it's not outside the realms of possibility that one would begin to clean up a bit either, even if they were innocent. I believe she began to lie due to the intense feeling of the weight of the justice system bearing down on her as the reality sinks in. But there is more to be seen, so no one can say at this stage.

@@gregoryashton saying she is "not guilty at all" is a stretch. This person was faced with the decision to get out and stay out time and time again. Her abuser and his aggressiveness was evident a long time ago. His growing aggressiveness in the time leading up to the moment was not surprising to her. Stabbing him during that physical altercation was completely avoidable. Knowing he had a history of putting his hands on her should have prompted her to call the police, stayed away from home, locked herself in a safe space, or do countless other things aside from be in the place she was in at the time the last physical confrontation took place. He came in, took her phone, took her sandwich, and all that took place. I feel for her, but she was capable of getting away and staying away. Now she's faced with the reality of her decisions and actions and the consequences of it all. Sad situation all around, and unfortunately, his ending was determined that night, so now it's on her.

I believe her, because she had to sneak into her home at night ,also her kids witnessed the abuser doing that.
Her children were concerned for her.
She did the stabbing in self defense.
I do hope she is set free.

I've not been listening and have so much to get caught up on with this case, but I'm really interested in more of her mental state. Specifically the impact and effects of marrying her stepfather....I've got so many questions.
Listening to this testimony, albeit whether on sedatives or not, cognitively, the recall is flowing without having to show fabrication on the stand. Well rehearsed? Possibly. But depending on psychiatric medications and dose - especially if one IS a sedative and seeing her struggle to stay awake - she is definitely coming across as genuine with regard to this line of questioning.

She said in testimony she's not taking any medications. Women have a difficult enough time with hormones as they age which isn't helped by poor quality jail food and not able to get quality sleep. The lights are always on and there's a lot of noise and discomfort in jail. That would make anyone fatigued on top of going to court everyday for trial.

Her "step father" married her mom just so she could get on his health insurance plan to treat her cancer. It was not a romantic relationship. Who stabs their husband and then spends the next few hours on Tinder before deciding to call authorities?

@@ceilconstante640 100% agreed. I mentioned sedatives because I had read elsewhere she was on them. That's why I didn't want to commit to whether she is or not in what I said - not knowing with absolute certainty the source or legitimacy of that information.

It is a strange feeling....when you KNOW to the core of your being that, if the marriage is going to survive, one of you will totally DIE, cease to exist- whether emotionally or....physically....It sounds to me- like she was just trying to continue to EXIST....in some ways- that was her finally speaking out....in others- it was a self-defense stab in the shoulder....Unless you've been in this place- it may sound a bit crazy...
