Apart from the BBC, the channel 7 coverage of the arrival and procession in London was superior to its rivals, IMO. The on-location commentator so electrifyingly transmitted the sense of atmosphere and both the big picture and fine details. After hours of numbing cortege coverage, you could feel this one.

There are people who know when they are leaving this world. I think that she knew her time was near, because she did things amazingly quickly after the Jubilee celebrations. And she had planned to go to Balmoral later than she did, so to me she knew that her Savior was calling her home. So she went to her favorite place to go to her eternal home, where she was with her two eldest children, probably that is the way she wanted to. Blessings of Shalom to her children and grandchildren with my very sincere condolences to them, and the People of the United Kingdom.

Wonderful send-off for the Queen. She knew people would want to see her coffin and designed the vehicle so her people would see her.
I think of it as the ultimate snotty attitude. She always wore bright colors so she'd be spotted easily whenever she went out, like a queen bee in a hive. Of course, she wanted to have the last spotlight. By then, if the British people like that sort of thing, then that's their call, not me although I doubt any of them had any choice in the matter.
@@conniewojahn6445 I sense Connie, that you're going to think of her in that rather pejorative sneering way, whatever the entirely non-egotistical reasons behind her choice of brightly-coloured outfits. HMQ like her father before her was categorically _not_ a 'centre of attention' kind of person at all (unlike her sister *Margaret* who completely was that kind of person - _had_ to be noticed). Elizabeth, left to her own devices would always prefer to be low-key and private, but she knew that if people had come to _see_ her and she was on a walkabout amongst hundreds or sometimes thousands of people 20 deep, that she needed to be visible - or 'be _seen_ to be believed' by those at the back.
It was a purely practical move, not driven by "a snotty attitude" at all (I think you mean snooty, but nevermind...) She was quite small at 5'3", so sometimes just quite difficult to spot. Her dressers decided some years ago that it would be helpful if she wore brightly-coloured outfits so people could spot her easily at outdoor events. If you saw her at an evening or non-walkabout event, she hardly ever wore bright colours at all - white, pastels, neutrals. The spotlight on the coffin isn't for her ego, you chump, it's giving the people what they want. If they've lined the streets to see her coffin, they want to _see_ her coffin. Pointless queueing ages to half see a car shrouded in darkness going past.
Knowing that you need to be _visible_ is entirely different from having an 'I want to be _noticed_ mememe' kind of attitude. When she wasn't on public duty, HMQ wore anything _but_ bright colours - she lived and died in tweeds and neutrals. She didn't want to stand out at all, but blend in.
The spotlight was a stroke of genius, I thought. I'd never have thought of that!
Rest in Peace your Majesty and thank you for your services. Long live the King.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II sadly passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle. Aged 96. 8th September 2022.
As an American who follows the Royal Family, I find it very comforting and heartwarming the way the people of the UK are treating the new King, and his entire family. For a woman to serve her country for 70 years, before everything else, she deserves only the finest send-off to be reunited with her husband, parents, and sister. Rest easy Queen Elizabeth, you certainly deserve it.🙏

My mum loved the Queen and within myself I commune with her about this. I miss hearing her talk about the Queen. As Elizabeth said " Grief is the price we pay for love" and those words comfort me. I was very blessed to have both of them in my life and I try to live as they would want me to. Can anything compare to the parent/child bond? Elizabeth was a Grannie to millions, will we see her like again?

The one word that comes to mind when thinking of the Queen is OTHERS.
She was ALWAYS thinking of others, her country, her family, the world. Always putting them above herself. Sacrificing so much and so often. She didn't seek ANY of this, but she bore the burden on her slight but strong shoulders elegantly. God Rest The Queen....

This Magnificent Lady wasn't just the Queen of the UK, Connonwealth, and States, she was the worlds Queen, everyone knows who Queen Elizabeth ll is or was. That's going to be hard to get used to, shes been Queen all my life. I'm 65 and would give half my years up to of had her as a grandmother, not because she was Queen, because she was a loving soul. Think her grandson will really not just regret, but hurt in his heart one day for how he's treated her, especially the last days of her life.

I’m not one for royalty as an American but we all share kindred blood with our British/Irish/Scot cousins and this woman one of the most historical figures to ever exist and exudes class and stoicism and has interacted with nearly ever single other historical figure to EXIST in our lifetime. No funeral since JFK will be as widely attended and followed but this will be a celebration for her unrivaled service.
This is an amazing event. I'm blown away by the people and so glad I'm able to see this.
