  • In a ceremony which dates back to at least 1837, King Charles III was officially proclaimed monarch at St. James's Palace in London on Saturday after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. The accession ceremony was followed by the King's declaration and taking of an oath.

What an extraordinary thing to see - the formalities of an ancient constitutional monarch. Penny Mordaunt - Lord President of the Council - did a grand job.

Cool to see such ancient traditions. Hope England keeps these cultural rituals to preserve historical past events

Human tradition binds us together in times of great sorrow, making us all aware that even when we pass on, life, duty and society goes on. Its comforting.

Quite the ceremony, after such a long reign this is undoubtedly something most have never seen or witnessed before! A new Era is upon us, God you see and know all, so Father God may your glory fall in these dark and sad days. Comfort all those who grieve, and give them peace in days to come that all may know true joy in Jesus Name, Amen

How beautiful! Glad that "nobody" was there to ruin this. King Charles looks regal. Beautiful, beautiful ceremony.

Another interesting thing: All those "Orders in Council" to make use of existing seals. I was a US Navy Officer, and I remember at every change of command, the new Captain gave orders that the former Captain's instructions and orders remain in force until new ones are prepared. Same thing, only on a national scale.

While I'm not in favor of monarchy, this is a valuable tradition that gives visibility to English culture and religion.
