  • Trumpets and cries of “God save the King” were heard as Charles III was proclaimed monarch during an elaborate ceremony at St. James's Palace.
Charles became king immediately after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, but a historic meeting formally confirmed his role on Saturday.
It is the first time that cameras have been inside this ceremony, the last of which took place over 70 years ago.

He may look forced, but it takes a lot of strength from your lung to shout loudly without any instrument. Maybe on video, it does not look very much, but this is what many people used to do in the past. I haven't sang in a choir since I was a child.. for so many years... but yes, I also paid my respect and attended some services in my local church. I think many people are in mourning. Shocked. Upset. I don't think people realises how much this is quite a big issue...
During the first lockdown, many brass bands came out to play, around the Christmas time. I knew knew in my gut that something was quite wrong. And the speech... was something that she did not used to say. I just knew that something awful is happening here... The lockdown has gone on for two years.. and now Russia has invaded. The British army came out of Afghanistan... and some have gone on to fight in Ukraine... I think, many people are shocked. Many foreign nationals have not been allowed to enter the UK.. since we locked down... it is not safe for them to be here. Many of us may have families that also serve in TAs too. Long live the King !

They are part of "Operation London Bridge" better known as "London Bridge is down". This specific Plan regulates what has to happen in which Order, when the Queen dies, including Ceremonies, Proclamations, the Lying-in-State and the Burial. Operation London Bridge was established in the 60´s, and not a few Month ago. Also, neither the Country nor the Commonwealth can be without a Leader, therefor they have to "Rush" the Proclamation of a new One. @@matiasd.c9949 nah like its ridiculous how much their life revolves around the responsibility for the crown, I think like most, if not all things related to the queen private life, they kept it quiet because that's generally tradition for security, so I think they knew she was on the end of things and had put the proper plans in place for there to be a monarch properly crowned with ceremony, which is the binding act, almost like the legal requirement, without it all, there's no monarch, idk if that's so important these days but it might be and it at least was important to have a valid and "legal" head of state at all times to make decisions.
It's pretty callous tbh, but there's no real power to gain from offing someone these days, just more invasion in privacy and more security and basically mandatory appearances without much or any political sway. There's even laws against it. It's a job, basically, long story short, it's a business and it needs to keep moving, basically the fundamentals to their country, the English equivalent of the constitution.

They wen't through so much hardship in the 1940's on top of the great depression... The queen represented what a queen was in the past, rebuilt society and listened to every long since taken ruler and citizen, on their opinions. Japan may have a single running bloodline but proving it is a different matter. England itself is at most 1200 years old and Britain is only around 300 years after the act of Union. Proclaiming, "Hip Hip Hooray!" for our new King blew me out of the water! It's incredible! I'm American but find any ceremonial display by the Royals so fascinating and this is a BIG one! It all began in 1981 when I was awoken one very early morning by the sound of the TV on and found my mother watching the beginnings of Charles and Diana's wedding. I sat with Mom watching it unfold on our grainy black and white TV and was so intruiged. My ancestors came from Great Britain as many many Americans did also and were under their rule. So there is a connection we can't ignore. I wish all the best to KIng Charles III!

I'm an American but I feel so connected to this. My ancestors on my father's side were Irish (meaning they came from what is now the Republic of Ireland), so they departed for America as British subjects. My ancestors on my mother's side were mostly English. In fact when researching my family tree I found out that I am distantly related to Anne Bolyen and Queen Elizabeth I. So likely my distant relative had this ceremony for herself when she became queen. Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth II and God Save King Charles III.

It always amazes me how the trumpeters have so much control in their embouchure (mouth formation). These are not standard trumpets with 3 valves but basically a long pipe. All note changes are done strictly with the lips, tongue, and diaphragm. I only heard 2 wrong notes during the whole performance, and those were quickly corrected. Amazing.

Trumpets and cries of “God Save The King” were heard as Charles III was proclaimed monarch during an elaborate ceremony at St. James's Palace.
Charles became king immediately after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, but a historic meeting formally confirmed his role on Saturday.
It is the first time that cameras have been inside this ceremony, the last of which took place over 70 years ago.

My goodness, that gave me chills. Every detail is so precise and formal, and perfectly executed considering those involved will have never done this ceremony before. Listening to the actual words of the Proclamation and hearing people singing and cheering, must be the same as happened for previous monarchs like Henry 8th. I'm not a Royalist, but I hope Charles 3rd will be a much better King than previous ones. We will probably have him has monarch for around 20 years and then it will be William's turn, if the monarchy still exists by then. Younger people are likely to see two accessions in their lifetime.

It won’t be that big of a deal by then, though. Depending on your age, by the time you have grandchildren, there will already be a new monarch. The only reason this generation is seeing this for the first time, is because QE became queen so young, and lived such a long life. That will likely never happen again, at least not for quite some time. What is actually historic is the idea that we will likely never see another female monarch for several generations.
