My thoughts exactly. To him, this really WAS his mother's song, not his. Hearing his mother's song, now sung as "God save the KING", must have driven it home in what had to be one of the couple most painful ways possible, the magnitude of his soul crushing loss. May Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, rest peacefully and in power. She was a true testament to just exactly what we ladies can do. This American take immense pride in being a woman, because I am a fellow woman. I will never be queen regnant of a nation, but I can still achieve great things.

The 'we' would be everyone under the colors of the British Empire. Missed, because that is the reverence due the sovereign of the same. It's not about her specifically - and at the same time it is. Much like an officer in the military. You salute the rank, you can come later to salute the person. Having earned your personal respect in experience or perhaps friendship. Elizabeth was a kind loving girl when she visited here. Turned alot of opinions around. She may have seemed distant and cold as she aged - but the world changed. Into an era that those from hers could scarcely recognise. Despite that she did her best to live up to her promise within the remit of what the corrupt UK parliament allows. In all ways she was someone to be respected. And in that way, it would be weird not to miss her - when you consider what lies beyond.
The British have in truth had several decades of self loathing and defamation forced upon them. A paid narrative, one sided and disrespectful. Pushed by a corrupt and vile group of people. Worse than your image of the Royals. Yet money is power. And power they have. Everyone else just jumps to their party tune. Pandemics. Political musical chairs. It's all the same people.
And when they do have full control around the world. When their amount of caring for the people reaches a point so low it's like the days of Rome, killing people wherever and however they like. Then like us you will regret the day you asked to readily for change. And instead receive brutality you thought worse in the past.
There is no perfect leader. No perfect system. But some are so much worse than you realize. Queen Elizabeth never ordered soldiers to eat their own relatives. But such was the fate of my people. Asked to cut open their own sons and daughters and eat their livers. To prove their loyalty. Some were made to r*pe them with pieces of wood and other objects until they died.
You have no idea what sort of hell ridden world the British marched through in those days. But our records are not that old and not that forgotten. We remember the British Governor here vomitting reading it. The reports of my own sister taken to Masanjia and tortured until she just wanted to fade away and be left to pass on.
Do yourself a favour. Don't just read what they provide for you. Go well out of your way. To the black slave traders who sold their own people to whites. To the white people who were slaves. To the terrorists who beheaded British soldiers just because they wanted to bring education and fresh water.
The British did many bad things. They also did many good things. And you never hear about the latter. Ask yourself why that is. And who really wrote the history book.

Maybe one day, he will be able to smile in appreciation when he hears it, but for now he’s probably thinking they should be singing it for his mother & he probably misses her. Even though he’s had a very long time to prepare to be king, he may even feel that he needs more guidance from her. I have loved ones who’ve passed that I think at least once a week that I wish I had known to ask their advice about this or that, but I can’t now.

You could tell the family was racked with grief. My goodness. She was still having meetings two days before she died. Bless her heart. Poor thing was so tired. I'm glad God let her go home. I know she taught Charles everything she could. I'm certain he'll do a great job. God save the King.

Her last appearance in an official function was to have her introduction meeting with a newly elected PM that would come to lose that position again not even six weeks later. Especially considering the first PM she met as Queen was Winston Churchill...
You can bet Boris was pissed he didn't get to send off the Queen as Prime Minister.

Same melody as “My Country Tis of Thee” here in the United States. Our forebears here in the States must have lifted it (this melody) from “God Save the King/Queen” 😊 🎶

I was taught the first verse of this at age 5 by me very English Grandfather. I love the trumpet fanfare at the beginning, and this always bring tears to my eyes.

King Charles has waited a lifetime to become King and it came at a great loss, losing the Queen is one thing but losing your Mother is another. This I know all to well, my Mom passed away when I was 10 ( she was 36 and passed away on her birthday to boot ain't that a kick in the head ) 😪

It's relatively well documented that Charles really did not want to be King.
