Been using my M2 MacBook Air in midnight for a few months and it has been incredible! Honestly don’t get the hate, it shows fingerprints scratches as much if not slightly more than space gray and imo, unless you are a neat freak, I think it’s totally worth it. Other than that, I thought this review was fantastic! I switched from a mid-2015 15” MacBook Pro and it was such a night and day difference. Lightweight, battery, performance, literally everything was so much better! Your definitely becoming one of my favorite reviewers bro, keep it up!
I have the base M2 MacBook Air and I use it for editing my videos on Final Cut Pro. It’s been awesome. Granted, I am editing like 3-4 streams of 1080p but I haven’t noticed any hiccups and the laptop does not get hot at all.

Per your advice, I bought Clean My Mac, and wow- what a difference it made in mine after running just a couple of its programs. It is so much snappier now! I had wanted one of these programs for a long time, but never knew which one to go with. This one seems excellent so far. I am very pleased with it. Thank you. Mine is the M1 MacBook Air.

I did the same and so far it has been a good experience. I am a first time MacBook user. Using it for everyday computing tasks. I purchased mine here in Toronto and I received a 210 CA apple gift card.
Me too, the M1 is a 'better value' but I was ok to spend a little more and love this thing.

I picked up the Midnight M2 same exact specs- 16gbRAM, 1TB - and yes it is absolutely fantastic, a dream laptop! Possibly the best laptop I’ve ever experienced.. one note- I’m running Parallels with Windows 11 and that does hit the battery super hard, just fyi. Otherwise it lasts super long. 10/10 MacBook Air!
How many hours of battery time are you getting with running Parallels? Just wanted to know
I’ll be using Parallels occasionally too! Does it heat up with such workloads that I need to consider MBP 13 with fan?

@@candiceonfire6935 yup. It is annoying, since they tend to accumulate over time. You will end up cleaning this laptop a lot more than the ones with the lighter colors.
I was at the Apple Store picking up a new iPad today and while I was waiting for a sales associate I was messing around on one of the M2 Airs. The design in the starlight color is just incredible.
💯 totally agree with your review (except I got the midnight color and I love it!). It's the computer I've always wanted and the performance and battery life combo blow me away, not to mention how thin and light it is at the same time! I do Android Development and I'm a huge multi-tasker, so I got the 16 GB model and it is a joy to use!
How is the ports of the midnight color holding up?

I have the exact same spec m2 just in midnight and that a beast of a laptop. Apple nailed it with this one
I would say get a screen friendly cloth to wipe down the smudges on the black color model. I carry a cloth to wipe down my iPad Pro’s screen when it’s full of fingerprints when I carry it around town

I received the m2 MacBook Air (midnight) two weeks ago and it's amazing. I love it! I haven't had any overheating at all. No issues at all!

@@candiceonfire6935 not for me. I thought the fingerprints would be horrible, but it's not. Even if they were, I have a polishing cloth from apple that I used to get them off.

I’m planning to get a similar one to the one u have, just no 10c GPU and 512 gb storage instead of 1tb and yes, these specs may get dangerously close to the MBP in usd however in my country and currency there is still a big difference even then, and in that case for me I’d rather save my money and get only what I need and yes again I can get the mba m1 but opposite to in the USA, the difference between both prices isn’t that much and I’m willing to spend a bit more for the extra features. Nice review btw dude imma sub!
The main hidden differences between the M1 Pro 14'' and the Air M2 are: screen refresh speed 120 => 60, liquid retina XDR => liquid retina, Thunderbolt 4 => 3, screens connected 2 => 1, SSD speed 200% => 100% for the base model (because it has only 1 SSD instead of 2)

@@KopfdesRiesen Oops, my bad, you're right! It's not OLED on the Pro M1 it's a Liquid Retina XDR (don't ask me what's the technology of that, I don't know, but side by side tests show a clear difference)

Nothing changes with the base model. I have it and it’s faster than my old M1. It never gets hot either.

Thank you for another awesome video. I have the 24GB RAM / 1TB SSD with no issues with FinalCut, PS, and Lightroom CC. I also run Parallel and various versions of Windows, Dockers as my lab - no issues. Love this MacBook Air M2 for the weight, battery, and performance.
How much did it cost? Wasn’t it better to just get a pro model with that many upgrades?

I’ve been trying to sell my galaxy tab S8 ultra and buy the M2 air, and I can’t GIVE my damn galaxy tablet away 🤦🏻♂️ was hoping to pick up the air on the back to school deal for the gift card, but at this rate that’s not gonna happen. I guess at least that means i can wait and see if they introduce a 15 inch version next year, as that’s what i really wanted.

Let me tell you a secret. I have stopped watching tech reviews for information. I pretty much know what tools I need for my work and life. At this point, I only watch for the aesthetic value of video production and entertainment. and I think canoopsy is one of the best in that regard.
i am a btech cse student in india 3rd year, confused between m2 macbook air and m1 pro macbook pro 14 inch, the price difference i am getting between both devices at 512 16 config is 28k inr. I plan to do things majorly related to coding and development. Is it worth the upgrade to 14 inch?
If you’re going to do a lot of coding and need a laptop now, the MBP 14” is probably the best option for you
I have my M1 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and I absolutely love it, and as soon as I purchased one a year ago it instantly became my favorite computer ever. It doesn't feel slow or outdated in any sense (well maybe the screen bezels but I don't really care that much). It's extremely reliable for the things I do and places/scenarios I carry it with me. The battery is very reliable too.
The M2 one is definitely more stylish and probably a bit more pleasant to use though, so if I'd have to pick one up now, I would probably go with the M2, but owning and keeping the M1 version still feels so great!
P.S. I mostly do backend engineering and it fits my needs perfectly.
Which one should I buy, a MacBook Air M1 16GB RAM or a MacBook air M2 8GB RAM variant for coding stuff ?
One thing that worries me in this device is that it's fanless. Feels like it's gonna be a problem if im using this machine for years to come
The opposite should be true IMO. A fanless notebook should be more resistant to age, because there are fewer moving parts.
Also, as notebooks with fans age, dust builds up on the fans and the exhaust areas, reducing airflow and decreasing performance due to increased temperatures.
In theory, this fanless notebook shouldn't be prone to that.
It shouldn’t worry you tho. I mean, phones and tablets are fabless. Look at their longevity. Having a fan means having moving components that can wear out with time.
Get the 8 core gpu model and your problems will be much less.

The M2 Air will not reduce in price come fall. It has just came out last month. Never has Apple reduce the price of its Macs, only after 2-3 months. Even the M1 Air still hold on to its original pricing, 2 years after.

I do not agree with this review. Yes, if you look only at this computer, it’s a sleek and capable device. But the existence of the m1 air and the m1 pro 14inch create a very tricky value proposition for the m2 air. For example, a college student who would like a cheaper capable device would get a m1 air, which does everything except the form factor mostly just as good, and for $400 less. On the other hand a creator who would want to upgrade the m2 to a better spec would quickly start reaching prices where a MacBook pro with cooling, a better chip and a way nicer screen make vastly more sense than the m2 air. So if you intend to buy this computer, first consider it against the m1 air and 14inch pro, and then make a budget conscious informed decision of where to put your money

Got the base model M2 Air in midnight on launch day. Love it! It's a pretty big upgrade coming from a base model 12 inch MacBook from 2017. Photoshop, audio editing, and creating videos from Keynote files are some of the more intense tasks I use it for. It handles everything no problem. And the midnight color isn't a huge issue for me. The laptop is docked at my desk most of the time. I don't mind wiping off the lid 2-3 times a week when I have to take it on the go. The new color is worth it for me.

B&H already knocking $100 off, so yes it will. The PC market is expected to fall by 20% in 2022 due to recession and inflation, so there will be loads of deals the longer you wait. That is how tech works, the passing of time = falling prices per model. So anyone buying an M1 Air to save money are possibly making a BIG mistake.

I ordered one on launch day and unfortunately had horrible light bleed on the screen. I exchanged it for another one & while that one was better, there was still light bleed. I have seen others on reddit complaining of this issue as well, but your mileage may vary. But for a $1200 starting price, shouldn't have to worry about build quality.

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews about this laptop. Interesting to hear your points which are much different then the common review.
I think because he’s not using the base model, it’s a much more specced out version.

Apple products are really good but they suck after warranty over and simple service cost goes half the price of product in most cases!
It’s not that expensive and definitely worth it. I got my iPad Pro 2020 replaced just by a small crack in the camera lense. And you’re even getting proper support compared to most android phones

And this is my issue with Apple - you were able to get satisfactory results on an Air compared to a 1 year old $6k pro. I’m sorry, but this isn’t a good thing. If Apple continues to roll out groundbreaking tech once a year, what’s the point in buying top of the line anymore?! Apple needs to get a better handle on their Tier levels, so there’s less overlap. A $6k machine that’s only a year old, shouldn’t even be in the same ballpark as an Air, I don’t care if it’s the Intel version or not. Which that is a whole other issue…Apple selling their high end units for a lot of money, knowing damn well in a year they will be complexly outdated already! I’ve had the 14” since launch in November. It’s a great computer, but I’m tired of the sales and marketing BS Apple is doing. You used to be able to buy one of their expensive products and it last 5 years..Now, it’s outdated by the next Apple Event just a few months later!
So we all have to stop benefiting from progress so you don't get butt hurt over the fact Moore's law exists, come on be real: there will always be something better next year, so only buy what you need for now. If you don't need a 6k USD machine keep the money in the bank. If you do need it then you got a year's work done with it that you could not otherwise 👍
The first version of new architecture was always going to be outdated quickly. When you bought the M1 that should have been ringing in your ear. The M2 is a big improvement but the M3 with 3nm arriving next year will make M1 Pro machines look even older. Expect this rate of improvement for at least five years before it will plateau out. You must get out of the mindset of Intel’s slow iterate upgrades that stalled the PC world for years; that is why Apple dumped them and did their own thing.

I'm writing from a 14" M1 Pro - and loving it - I've bought it refurbished for 1400$ - it being cheaper than the M2 Air with double the RAM... M2 Air would be pointless.

Aside from the negative hoopla on tech RUclips, my main problem with this Mac is that it’s sitting between M1 MacBook Air and the M1 Pro/Max Pro 14” MacBook Pro. It’s a middle child sitting near two of arguably the best laptops ever made-as Snazzy Labs said. M1 MacBook Air might be (usually) $899 on Amazon.

reports saying that 10 core gpu is overkill on this fanless machine. Tests out there claiming it gets hotter and with a less sustainable frame rate (while gaming for example) than the 8 core model. Throttles faster. But im seeing you choose the 10 core model...
The 10-core GPU can indeed throttle, but those were when the GPU were maxed out. Multi-core for most users is not that example. So 10-cores running at 66% will beat out 8-cores running at 66%, or throttle less than 8-cores running 90% (equivalent of 10-cores at 66%). Creators doing fake benchmark throttling miss out on real-life tests and reality of multi-core use. The same with that 256GB SSD speed; the random read and writes of the M2/256GB are faster than the M1/256GB, and random read and writes are what we do 90% of the time. So the anti-Air videos were unrealistic and biased for an agenda to drive clicks. It is just sad so many viewers were fooled into the fake conclusions. Thankfully there are far better channels that tell the truth, and the M2 is a really great upgrade, def faster and better than the M1, and $200 extra is quite a bargain if you can afford it.
@@andyH_England more gpu cores equals more heat than less gpu cores. Being the enclosure is the same there is no discussion that the 10 core model will get more hot. This is math.
@@joaoroman9583 Most processors need more voltage to sustain higher clock speeds, so running at lower speeds means less power, which equals less heat. It is a non-linear relationship. So 10-cores running at lower frequencies will be more stable and need less power than 8-cores running at higher frequencies. The relationship is logarithmic rather than linear.
