I drove the RAV4 hybrid and the Venza back to back in test drives. The Venza was noticeably quieter and made it an easy choice for us. Just bought our 2023 Venza Limited last week!
We are going to review a Rav4 Hybrid shortly. Can’t wait! We will see if you made the right choice. :)
Thanks for watching Patrick. Have a great weekend.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial The RAV4 Hybrid is nice has more interior cargo space, however the better seats, and folding mirrors set the Venza apart. There's definitely more sound deadening material in the Venza.
Good to know. We will have to address that in our review. Make sure you watch that one too. Make sure we do it justice. :)
We looked at the Venza Limited and Lexus NX350H, decided to put a order on the Lexus NX. Both are good SUVs.
We may have to review one. Good choice. Nice car. Thanks for sharing and watching. Enjoy your new wheels.
My Husband and I have the '23 Venza XLE, and it's such a stunner. We upgraded from a '21 Venza LE and plan on driving our car until the wheels fall off. The transmission is a ECVT which is built to be simple and long lasting. Truthfully, Toyota is the only company I'll tolerate a CVT in because its absolutely smooth! Highly recommend!!!
Thanks for sharing Heather. Sounds like you really love your Venza. That’s awesome. It’s funny, when we reviewed this Venza, someone saw us and asked if it was for sale. We hooked them up with the dealership who let us borrow it and they sold them a Venza. That told us it’s not only long lasting, but certainly eye catching. We wish you all the best and hope the wheels stay on a long time. :)
We bought our 2022 Blizzard Pearl Venza XLE last year. Absolutely love it and the fact that it’s made in Japan was a big plus for us. It took four months to get it shipped from Japan and once it arrived at the dealer in Glendale, California our sales person told me about 20 people were circling the Venza thinking they could buy it. They were told it was pre-ordered. The last time I took it in for service, our sales rep told me the delay is now closer to nine months for delivery on the model we ordered.
That’s amazing. You are the envy of all. Congratulations on the purchase and the timing. Consider yourself lucky. We really enjoyed it. It is smoother and has a better ride than the Rav4. It comes with a higher price of course, but it seems worth it.
Enjoy! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial ❤
I live in Canada and was told it would take two years before I'd see a Venza. The same goes for the Highlander. So I decided to order the Highlander platinum hybrid. It will of course be a 2025 model year. The demand is crazy for quality built vehicles.
Love the name. Definitely one of the best John Candy movies. As for the wait, Toyota does have some long waits. But, it’s better to get you name on the list now because you never know what those people in front of you might do. A lot of people don’t give up waiting and then you move up in line. When it finally arrives on the dealers lot, you’ll be glad you did.
Thanks for watching. Best of luck.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial Thanks!
I am feeling very lucky. Put my name on the list two months ago for the 2023 Venza XLE in titanium glow with the boulder interior. Received an email yesterday from the dealership saying my Venza was shipped and on its way. What’s more amazing is that I am getting exactly what I asked for. Lately Toyota has been adding on all these extras directly from the factory so you either take it or leave it. I only wanted the all weather mats as an extra and that is exactly what I am getting. Very pleased.
After picking up your Venza, you may want to consider a lottery ticket. ;)
Thanks for watching and congratulations.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial I actually went out and bought one something I rarely do. 🤣 Thought maybe this is my lucky day I better not throw it away.
@annv4338 haha. That’s fantastic. We will keep our fingers crossed for you.
hurrraaaay...another great video by my favorite car reviewers...couldnt wait:)
You are way to kind. We are thrilled you enjoyed it. We do it for our great viewers like you. Have a great weekend.
I found out the 2024 Venza would be the last year, so I bought an XLE model. What a really nice car. I've had RAV4s before the Venza, which was really nice too. However, the Venza is fancier, and sportier looking and more expensive looking. Like a Lexus. The ride is smoother than a RAV4, there is less noise too. I really like my new Venza!
You said all the right things there. It’s as close to a Lexus without paying Lexus money. It’s almost like a different level of car. Not a Lexus, but also not a Toyota. We really enjoyed it. You will love yours. Thanks for watching.
I test drove a 2022 limited last week. Awesome car. Except for two things. #1 The Ecopia tires made it the loudest road noise car, truck I've ever driven in my life.. (Im 69). #2 Ive read on line of issues of windshields cracking. This car too had cracked windshield starting from the top right center down the bottom center. It was not rock damage. I think its caused from structural pressure on the glass
Thanks for commenting and for watching. Do the articles on line state what caused the cracking? Were they from a point of impact, or is there a manufacturers defect?
@HoodSlappersOfficial This info was on several owners' forums. Speculative causes. Cheap glass, structure movement, etc. Toyota is denying fault.
Thanks for the info. That’s very interesting stuff. We will have to read some of that literature. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not sure if you gentlemen know, but the Venza didn't really go away during the 2016 to 2020 years. Outside of North America, the Venza is known as the Harrier. This "second" generation Venza is really a fourth generation Harrier. I wish that this car would have carried that name in North America. The Harrier is a very awesome jet too.
I own the 2023 Nightshade XLE, and it's all black; I was going to hop on the RAV4 bandwagon, but luckily, the guy who reserved the one I purchased changed his mind. For some, it maybe too black, but it looks like a car that belongs in an action movie. I love the edges of the car, and many think it's a luxury vehicle. The best thing about the 2023 model is Toyota dropped the hybrid badge; so, the only hybrid indication is the blue color on the Toyota logo.
While it is not super quiet, I do hear road noises as I drive, the, overall, feel is relaxing and the seats and the "leather" material is very comfortable. For me, this is a car for people who want the view of an SUV, but the comfort of a nice sedan. The vehicle really handles potholes well.
This is all great. We really appreciate you taking the time to share. Pardon our ignorance, we didn’t know it was still around from 2016 to 2020. We love learning from viewers like you. Enjoy your Venza. We loved it. The night shade would be nice to have in Canada.
In May of 2022 i walk in to milton toyota dealership to buy a venza hybrid limited I'm not even take a test drive but love it good on gas very comfortable and quiet lexus like interior by the way i own mostly toyota thanks for sharing your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada
Hey thanks so much for saying hello! Kelso rules! You know you love it when you don’t even need a test drive. Thanks for watching and for saying hello.
Beautiful car! The rearview camera in the mirror was quite impressive as well as the filters on the not-a-sunroof. I actually didn't notice Brad at all until after you changed the filter. Also congratulation on your transitions Jared! I give them my thumbs up of approval!
That sunroof still blows our mind. It’s the coolest thing and it doesn’t make any sense until you get to try it yourself.
Thanks for watching. Now if you’ll excuse us, Jared has to be picked up from his night class.
The Venza and the RAV4 hybrid share the same hybrid AWD system, producing the same power output. I chose the RAV4 Hybrid because it was less expensive and had more cargo space. I will keep this vehicle until I hit the lottery, and I don't play the lottery, which gives me about the same chance to win as those who do.
Haha. Thanks so much. So let us ask you this, what car would you buy if you won the lottery?
@@HoodSlappersOfficial, When money is no object, I'd have a Tesla Model X Plaid and a Tesla Roadster Plaid for city driving, and a Lexus LX600 Ultra Premium for road trips.
Sounds like you’ve thought about this. :) Well we will keep our fingers crossed for you. Just don’t forget about us when you make it big.
I love these guys... Their narration techniques are intriguing funny 😂
Thank you so much Tayo! These comments make our day. We are glad you enjoyed our review. Have a great day!
You two are a hoot! Love your banter!
Thanks so much Steve. We appreciate the kind words.
Learned the hard way: you can’t add an OEM roof rack to an LE. And that pocket with the USB ports can be annoying. But has been a nice car otherwise, I don’t understand why many get so worked up about it being a hybrid and using an eCVT.
Thanks for sharing. What about the USB pockets is annoying? We are curious to hear from real world drivers.
Thanks again.
And some people complained about acceleration to the highway is noisy yes i agree but if you don't press the paddle hard the car is quiet
That’s a great point. Any car is loud when you push the pedal to the floor. The Venza doesn’t have to be loud if you drive normally. :)
Thanks for sharing. We appreciate the support.
Great review with humor and a book-reading intro..😊🎉
Haha. Thanks so much. Nothing bette than a book reading intro. Thanks for watching! We really appreciate it.
How do you guys only have 2k subscribers?! I watched the whole video without checking and figured you had 300k or 400k easily haha.
That is very kind of you. Thanks so much. There are a lot of car reviewers out there, it’s tough to break in sometimes, but in all honesty, we are having fun whether it’s 2 or 2000 subscribers. Hopefully you enjoyed our review. Thanks for commenting and saying hello. Tell your friends! :)
We're in the US, and we've been buying Lexuses and Toyotas for almost 30 years. We'd been on waitlist(s) for a Venza for about a year. We wanted a particular trim, and exterior/interior colors, but you can't really order one the way you want it; you have to take what the factory spews out. I wanted to negotiate on price, and I'm "allergic" to dealer add-on fees, including big BS "Doc" fees. Can't do that with Toyota these days; I'm just fed up with their arrogance. Last month we bought a Mazda CX-5. They were willing to negotiate, and they had vehicles to choose from. Enough is enough. Also, I'd have to drive about 250,000 miles to make up the price difference (at $3 per gallon where we live). In Canada, with their gas priced much higher, it works out to about 80,000 miles.
Mazda is a great brand too. Toyota is great, but around here wait times are so long. We are glad you were able to get something. A lot of manufacturers are starting to add “dealer fees” to their website pricing. So it seems add ons are coming.
Thanks for watching.
Why is 2024 going to be the last year? Drove a used 2023 Limited, 20,000 miles, yesterday. Seemed pretty nice, waiting to drive a 2024 coming in two weeks. The dealer wanted us to change a few things on the order and take the one coming in. We had no idea people wait for cars these days, until readying these post. Comparing with the 2024 RAV 4's. Should I be concerned that they're discontinuing them?
Great question. The basic idea is that Toyota is replacing it with the Crown Signia. It’s kind of sad because we really liked the Venza. We are hoping to review the Crown soon and hopefully can give some good insight. As for being worried, I wouldn’t be. A lot of the parts are interchangeable. The Venza is a Toyota/Lexus combo so there should be plenty of available parts.
If you can get one sooner than later, it might not be a bad idea.
Hopefully this helps.
Toyota is the only way to go. Fuel savings, reliable, cost. Venza a car I hope to own soon! I know savings I have owned a Toyota for 33 years.
Toyota is definitely a great brand. We like how they branched out a bit and dipped into some luxury features with the Venza. We have a Rav4 hybrid review coming soon. Stick around for it.
Until then, thanks for watching. What your favourite Toyota of all time?
To me, a hood hand slap is just about a so-so approval... now a hood hand slap along with a boot solid tire kick means soooo much more.
Oooo. Now that’s a good idea. We will bring it up with the boys in the lab. :)
Thanks for watching.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial Just don't do the tire kick thing with makes and models that have pre-kicked tires from the factory.
We know better. This isn’t amateur hour. :)
Best car on the road!
🕯🕯🕯
The best?!?! Wow. Well, w me did really enjoy it ourselves. We don’t blame you for saying that. Thanks for watching.
Test drove this one and loved it. The only problem was getting my hands on one. The wait was minimum 9 months so I got something else. Rumour has it there may be a Prime PHEV version coming. Fingers crossed !
Thanks for watching David. Can’t argue there, it’s a great drive. How long of a wait were you told? Out of curiosity, what did you get instead? :)
Thanks again for watching. We will keep our fingers crossed too.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial I got a BZ4X, which drives very similar to the Venza. Also, I’m saving more money on gas! The wait time for a Venza back in November was 9 months.
9 months? Yea that makes sense. You made the right choice it sounds like. Enjoy your sweet ride.
put in an order on a Lexus NX350H in January. Wait is 9-12 months as well.
Worth the wait I’m sure
Exactly, and I tried for four months (on a list) this year to obtain a Venza Limited, no go. And I was transacting with the largest dealer in the Houston area. In fact, one dealer told me I was trying to get a "unicorn". LOL
I was lucky enough to obtain the 2023 Lexus ES300h, Ultra Luxury. It's the Ultra Luxury trim, which is what we wanted and is the highest trim for the ES hybrid. It is the Cloudburst Gray exterior with Acorn color semi-aniline leather interior.

Averaging 43+ MPG City/Hwy driving and I had the oil and filter changed at 1,000 miles for my own peace of mind. Just For Reference: I was not going to wait one-year or 10,000 miles to have the factory installed oil & filter changed. And, I shall be changing the Oil (Liqui Moly 0W-16 Spec V) and Toyota filter every 5,000 miles from now on. Like Scotty Kilmer says, oil & filters are cheap, engines are expensive. LOL 🤔
Thanks so much for commenting and for watching. That seems to be the story of everyone’s car buying saga. The waiting game is a growing game. So now that it’s over, do you regret not waiting longer or are you right chuffed with your Lexus?
@@HoodSlappersOfficial The only other alternative would have been the NX350h, which was totally unobtainable even today IMO. So, I am thoroughly satisfied with my Lexus ES300h Ultra Premium without having to spend over $100k for the LS500h. LOL 😎
who cares
@@HoodSlappersOfficial No regrets! I love my Lexus ES300h Ultra Luxury edition with additional options and dealer add-ons. She's a keeper and the best vehicle I have ever owned, and I've been buying cars since the 1960s.
Great review guys, I enjoyed the chemistry and solid narrative, well done! I am in the market for a new suv and this helped a lot! 😀
Thank you so much. We are never sure if what we do is actually practical and then someone like you says it is. We are so glad you could take something from our review. What SUVs are you looking at?
Thanks for watching Gary. We really appreciate.
@HoodSlappersOfficial Awesome! I think the levity is well balanced with the vehicle review, makes for a good watch. I am looking at either a corolla cross hybrid, whenever it surfaces in Canada, a rav 4 hybrid, or a venza. 🙂
Oh that’s great. We are filming the RAV4 Hybrid shortly. Stay tuned!
Thank you Gentlemen, does it read Road Sign Assist (showing the road speed sign on main gauge screen and on head up display? Cheers
Great question. It is on the heads up display and can be turned on and off. As for the main gauge, we can’t remember but will get right back to you.
Great review guys! I think you should do a rav4 hybrid for direct comparison.
Great idea! Know anyone who has one? ;)
Thanks so much for watching. We appreciate your support.
How many kilometers were u doing on a full tank of gas?!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time with the Venza to go through an entire tank of gas. Perhaps a viewer who drives a Venza will see this and assist with your question.

well designed speech. enjoyed your video.
Thank you very much!!! Thanks for watching.
To me, Venza = pretty girl, RAV4 = handsome boy.
Let’s keep this going:
Highlander =
Prius =
Corolla =
RAV4, Tucson, Sportage: More room/cargo space (38 cu ft vs 29 cu ft), less luxurious. A bit cheaper. Opposite for the Venza, which has a smaller trunk but noticeably nicer interior, has a HUD in addition, costs more money, and has a better ride. Depends on your priorities. This is even more so for the Lexus NX, which has even less rear leg room (35in) and cargo space (22 cu ft) and is even more expensive, but also more luxurious.
Thanks for sharing. We appreciate you putting your knowledge out there for our viewers.
Thanks for watching. We hope you enjoyed the review

Needs panoramic sunroof that opens up!
That would be nice. It would probably mean sacrificing the special tinting feature. If you could keep that and at least raise the sunroof, that would be nice.
Thanks for watching and for commenting. We hope you enjoyed our review
There are so many reasons not to buy an EV and by no means is it a sure thing that the US will still be pushing EVs as hard. Hybrid cars are likely a very large part of the future - at least for the next few decades.
Thanks for commenting. What, in your opinion, would stop the US from pushing EVs? This is such an interesting topic right now in Canada too.

So no hitch for bikes and noisy...guess its Lexus or Acura for me😢.
Thank you so much for watching. Acura? Interesting alternative. RDX?
Hay a 2023 and a dealer added bike rack
no opening roof. Show-stopper
It’s definitely something to consider. It’s nice to bring in light, but why not just let it open.
It’s a perfect car otherwise. Very impressed
No need to worry about leaks from an aging sunroof. Win.
Talk about road noise

Nice rims 😆😆😆
Those are snow tires Vlad. Not the coolest looking wheels, but good for Canadian weather. Thanks for watching.
What sizes those tires have?
Great question. We don’t remember off hand. Probably a 16” or 17” rim. They are winter tires. The OEM alloys look much better.
Thanks for watching.
R they 20 inch or 19 inch for lower trims?
The old venza looks way better.
What?!?! Ok we will hear you out. Why is the older Venza better?

@@HoodSlappersOfficial ok...ill get back to you. Working on it. 😉
Deal. Looking forward to it brother.
@@HoodSlappersOfficial She didn't say it was better, but that her opinion looked better. I agree. Subjective.
Thanks for watching.
The first Gen Venza, in my opinion, is a far more attractive and unique automobile than the new Venza. In fact I would dare to say that the new Venza isnt even a Venza at all. They just took a name and stuck it on a whole other car . While the old Venza was really a one of a kind car and looked similar for its entire run, it seems rather arbitrary to just name this disguised Rav 4 the all new Venza.
I've heard people say the old Vemza is starting to show its age. The fact that the body style didnt change much for its entire run is a testament to its very unique, and ahead of it time design. Its a one of a kind look. Its not an NPC fish mouth mobile. And when you see an original Venza it sparks a genuine curiosity.
I also believe that the name Venza is not the right name for the American market. My wife is part Sicilian and her name happens to be Vincenza. Its a very beautiful feminine name , but despite its commonality in Italy, North Americans find a way to butcher it beyond belief. This, I believe, initiated the failure of the Venza. Whats in a name? A whole hell of a lot. And as much as there is a push to feminize machismo., Men will mostly not go with a car that sounds overtly feminine. I believe the same thing will happened with the new Venza. The name and the car did not translate to the American mind. Like Sushi, as delicious and fun and refined as it is, they just cant not get the burger and fries. So they opted for the Ford Edge instead. Albiet an ok looking vehicle, though i could only see myself renting, but never letting it become a member of the family.
Like the Lexus dealern said, when i recently bought a 2015 Venza AWD V6 in barcalona Red , that the New Venza was not the same; that it got 'ravified'. He said the word as if it the car itself had been lobomised.
Yet for some reason, the 2nd generation Venza seems to be selling well compared to the real one. That could simply speak to the fact that most people have no taste for design. Or Toyota is marketing it better. Because anyone who would say that the new Venza looks better than the orginal needs to have there eyes examined. :)
Love your insight. Thank you for sharing. We thought you forgot. We appreciate you taking the time to put your case together. We respect that. The bit about the name was very interesting actually. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Great points for sure. But like you said, the Venza is selling well. Is it a nice looking car, or just really good marketing. Some things were never meant to be known. The good news is that we can all have different opinions, but still appreciate cars.
Thanks again for the comment and for keeping in touch. Have a great day
@@HoodSlappersOfficial my pleasure. My view is.no.doubt biased as i have not driven the new Venza. Maybe in 5 years.

@@HoodSlappersOfficial Did not forget . Went back and cleaned it up a bit. Thanks for the engagement. Fun debates are great.
Venza does not sound any more feminine than Lexus, Lamborghini etc. Americans are too obsessed with masculine/feminine blue/,pink a bit too much unfortunately.
Ugly design, interior looks cheap and dashboard look dated
What do you drive? Tell me it's a Ford Bronco or Land Rover.
Really? We thought it looked great. Again, the Lexus look without the Lexus price. We really enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching.
@Living in an Inverse Reality aka Clown World So why not just buy the real lexus? A fully loaded venza is over 50k where i live. Extremely overpriced, just the 4runners.
I have booked a Toyota Venza XLE here in Mississauga on Oct 2022 last year ,still waiting ,no idea if I will get this year.So disappointing with a brand like Toyota.
Sorry to hear this. We have heard that a Venza can be up to a 2 year wait. It is nice to get updates though. These are the sort of things manufacturers should take the lead on and help take the street off of dealerships. With so many back orders, it’s hard for a dealer to keep up with everyone.
Hopefully you will receive good news soon.
Super car
