This is one prius owner who hates the new design. Car is too hard to get in and out of due to "A" pillar being too steep. The interior is too cramped and looks cheap, intstrument clusted is hidden behind steering wheel, stupid ugly infotainment center is a glued on ipad, less cargo space, ridiculous verticle rear door handle on "C" pillar. Toyota, you blew it.

I am still honestly shocked at how good this car is. Even with the A-Pillar quirk and the dash quirk, and the lack of headroom due to the design. I am HAPPY that designed something with character and didn’t just chase function over form. I think it’s a perfect balance.

One thing I’ve never understood is why some vehicles have tiny back seat room. I’ve never heard someone say they wish they had 5 inches of extra cargo room but that would be amazing added to a back seat. Or make back beat slide and be adjustable. Nice to see Toyota giving decent room in the back.

    • @chinito77
      @chinito77 Год назад

Some folks don’t have kids so back seats are useless. For the rare times you have to hall passengers, it’s only for short trips. Also, it was made primarily for Japanese, shorter on average. It’s an amazing commuter car for the typical Japanese solo driver.

You two are the BEST! You do a fantastic job of reviewing cars, and your fabulous relationship allows interruptions without slapping the offender - ZAC! I love your summaries of the vehicle and competitors. One question that may not be able to answer easily. How well do the cars you test handle snowy weather. We have watched our families who live in Denver embrace Subaru’s since they are great in the snow, but I have not watched a car review on any RUclipsr provide that information on a regular basis. We test rented a brand new 2022 Prius on Oahu in January and Zac’s description of planning ahead for acceleration was spot on! One thing that is interesting - while it took the 2022 version awhile to get up to speed, it had not problem maintaining that speed. The rental got over 60MPG, which is probably the only reason people purchase this vehicle. Perhaps you could provide an estimate on height and width limit for occupants of these cars? IF Zac’s “giant torso” = about 6’ total then recommendation would probably be for buyers under 6’?

I spent close to 20 minutes at the dealer trying to find the right driving position. Granted, I have mutant long legs. But if I had the right spot for the instrument cluster, the B pillar was in the way (so was the A pillar). If I placed the seat not to be blinded by the B pillar, the wheel was right in front of the instrument cluster.
When the dealer told me I MIGHT get a 2024 model (most probably a 2025), I tapped out and pulled the trigger on a RAV4 Woodland sitting inexplicably at the dealer.
Ok, the RAV4 is the epitome of boredom. I admit. But when I give a look at that fuel gauge never ever going down, yeah, I smile and I have fun. I sincerely tought it was broken…

Weird decisions like the manual drivers seat, one zone climate control, no map pocket behind the driver's door, no rear vents and hard black plastic in the rear makes the car not as good as it should be. It's still a huge upgrade and it's mostly styling, not practicality, and performance that are upgraded. But some of the decisions made are head scratching.

Been a minute since I spouted off about this car, so :) lol
First off I LOVE Prius. Biggest reasons, mileage and car camping with climate control.
Next, this car "looks" WAY better than my 2019 or my 2022.
Now, most people buy a Prius for fuel economy, and for this one to not go up a good chunk, but in fact, stay the same, was a fail #1
As for the huge increase in HP, if you wanted a sports car, why the heck would you buy a Prius ??? Nobody can convince me that if they had shot for a small increase in HP... maybe say from 123 to 140, that they could have gotten an improvement in mileage, from like 52 to 58 or 60. Fail #2
Again, it looks great, but it now has less headroom, and maybe more importantly, less trunk space. fail #3
Will definitely keep my less attractive, more functional 2022.

Idk it’s pretty impressive to increase the HP by 60+ and keep the same fuel economy as a much, much slower car.

It's pointless, you have to wait 12 to 24 months to get it. Toyota is a big joke

What’re they meant to do when there are still shortages of parts? It’s vastly improved, but still not fully recovered.

that’s because prius sales were declining, so they didn’t predict the huge amount of interest. also, most new cars are a year waitlist

I don’t see any of those others to be a better option. I’m definitely not buying a Hyundai. If you’re going to get a Corolla you may as well get the Prius for a little more. And I don’t think the accord is worth 6k more. Prius all the way.
