I do IT support for execs at my company. I follow them around the country to their week long events/meetings. That intro was shockingly accurate how they behave when working on ideas for marketing in their "war" rooms. Incredible.
TH has been, for a while now, the best channel in this genre on RUclips (I know because I watch them ALL). But the crew hasn’t stopped improving the content with better writing and production- and this has really allowed Thomas and James to shine as presenters and entertainers. All the comparisons in the comments to the GOAT Top Gear are 100% justified. Outstanding work, guys, I’d subscribe twice if I could. Thank you!
The rear end of this is so sick. This really seems like a great option for a daily, and especially. since the looks have changed so drastically. A huge Toyota W, being able to change the whole vibe of the outside without it losing itself.
THE most entertaining and hilarious intro Throttle House (or for that matter anyone else) has ever done. I was reluctant to watch your video review of the new Prius but that ‘marketing meeting’ of yours completely sold me! THANKS Thomas and James 👍👏😂
I had a Prius C, and it was a very reliable car. Yes, the inside was made cheap, but the gas prices were phenomenal. Now, I have a manual 2021 Corolla hatch, and that car is also great in its own way. Toyota hasn't failed me yet.
For a regular, non-exciting car, I never quite understand why anyone wouldn't buy a Toyota (or Lexus). Few things are more relaxing than knowing you're always going to get where you're going. People buy rivals because they're "more fun" but that's like having more interesting plain tofu or watching paint dry slightly more quickly 😄 There are few manufacturers that I don't regularly mock, but Toyota is one of them.
@@paulklp8262 Fun is a relative thing and not a priority for everyone anyway. Sure a Mazda 3 is more fun than most cars in its class, but we're still talking a "boring ass" class of cars- that's what I meant about the tofu and paint. Anyone whose main priority is fun, probably isn't buying a family hatchback unless it's a hot one. Many people will disagree, but no matter how many people tell me their diesel Golf is fun, it will never be any more true than me saying I'm the ruler of Zimbabwe. 95% of people also couldn't recognise good handling in a car anyway. That's the target market of most cars, hence everyone buying SUVs which are all about as fun as being stabbed. For those people, the Prius is fantastic, the fact a Mazda is more fun is totally irrelevant, like offering a fine wine to a chimp.
Jeremy Clarkson is an extremly rich and as it turned out also not very pleasant (that`s why he was kicked out of his own show) person, who can afford to hate simply every normal car an average person would buy. Thats why I never liked TopGear, bacause somehow the show`s massage was always that apart of some exeptions only sporty cars with 400+ hp can be good.
I have moved out of Canada but still watch your reviews because they are so fun. The intro, the hashtag jokes and the cinematics. Your best episodes should be compiled into a netflix series.
The details in your reviews are epic. When James says the interior lighting in other cars says "current funds moving". Oh I man I laughed so hard at that. Keep it up TH team, y'all are one channel that I watch religiously. The creativeness, attention to detail, and passion for cars makes this one of the best auto journalism channels ever.
Another freakin’ hilarious review. You guys rock. Great review. Can’t believe you guys are upping your game. Thought you were already the best out there
Throttle house is the best car show. The fact that you both love real “analog” cars and can appreciate efficient forms of transportation that mere mortals can afford is great.
The way they present everything even for a boring Prius is way more interesting than watching someone drive something like a Lucid Air or a Ferrari and scream and clap their hands. “It’s got carbon fiber headlights and alcantara laguna goretex seatbelts custom hand-made by a 90 year old man who used to work at IBM.” Okay, but I can’t afford it and therefore don’t care
My first vehicle was a 1996 Toyota Tacoma. It was a great truck. I have had Toyota rental cars on half a dozen work trips recently & every one of them feels like you're driving one of those red & yellow kid's toy cars down the road at 60 mph.
This intro is the BEST intro in human history. Karston’s expression throughout going “just what the efff is going on” and his “i give up” high-five fist thing at the end just put me over the edge. 😂
Honestly the Prius is a very capable car. I remember before I got into the world of cars I was gonna buy a Prius prime lol. But then I saw a TRD 86 on the showroom floor and it was over for me😂 pretty cool cars still tbh
Well I mean they do actually have a ton in common with each other: 1. Both Japanese cars 2. Both 4-cylinder shitboxes 3. Roughly the same anemic power band. 4. Even Toyota’s best trims are literally just one letter away from spelling TURD 💩 5. No matter what they’re both always somehow in a poverty spec. 🤷🏼♂️ ALWAYS! 🤣 😈 One day if the Devil gives me a choice in hell between those two cars I’d definitely choose the Prius because at least then everyone will know that I’ve got a nasty little mangina. Whereas with 86 “owners” it’s assumed that they hide their manginas under a big ol’ dankass Bubblegum-flavored vape cloud. 💨 🤘🏻 🇯🇵
I too was moved by a Prius until I saw a mint condition used Acura TL 2004 6 speed manual 3.2L V6 for 1/4 the price. Naturally, it was over for me too.
Why did you write honestly first? Were you originally going to lie and then decided not to? The Prius is somewhat capable, but it's not capable the way a minivan is, for example. Maybe you meant it's capable at being efficient, which it is.
I'm a huge car fanatic as I'm sure most of the people watching this channel are. These guys manage to bring a Top Gear kind of flare to their videos. Both informative and entertaining. What more could you ask for?
Nice, I really like that it’s simple to use and not gimmicky. It’s just a damn good hybrid. Reminds me of commercial vehicles, nothing is hard to use , steering is predictable “numb”, ergonomic. Me gusta .
Great review. Thanks. It will be interesting to see what real-world mileage is like. As a transportation product, this Prius is a near-center-target hit! I've driven many of these over the years and the best thing about them (besides legendary reliability and v. low running costs) is they basically disappear - and that's NOT damning with feint praise. Great everyday, device, and love the fact they put so much effort into the design. Seeing it everyday will at least provide some level of emotional joy :).
Love this intro. It reminds me of the "Gremlins 2 pitch" sketch from Key & Peele where they recap the crazy things they actually put in the movie. Plus, the matching polos is chef's kiss.
Filmed in Littlerock, CA (very close to Palmdale, CA) on Cheseboro Rd. ;) Have been driven there many times! Hands down, good choice for filming location!!!
I have a 2012 Pruis, it still rides like it's almost brand new. I still have the original auxiliary car battery up in the engine ( most last about 6-7 years before you have to replace them ), still rides well on its original suspension ( 141,000 miles on it ). Most people that I know who ask to drive it say it's quicker than they thought. The only thing I've had to replace was the windshield washer motor for the fluid sprayer( two years ago), the cost was about $140 for taking it out and putting in the new part, and I used the heck out of the factory CD player ( rarely used the radio). The CD player lasted 9 years and failed to eject or play CDs, it had several thousand hours of use. I put in an aftermarket Cd player. If you review high-end and $ 40,000-plus cars every week its never going to be your favorite car to drive. It is similar to a great friend it rarely if ever lets you down. I don't drive slow like most Prius drivers, I've had the car up to very high speeds as I was failing to keep up with a brand new 2015 Corvette Stingray. They say it's governed at 114 but I looked at the speedo while chasing the corvette and I was going well over that ( they probably forgot to put the governor on my car), without a lot of vibration and it still felt like it could go 10-15 mph faster. The corvette driver waved at me and couldn't believe the Pruis had those speeds in her. It climbs mountain passes here in Colorado very well. The car's light has good headroom, I'm 6'1".The way I drive, the car gets about 45 Mpg in the summer and 39 in the cold winter months. The first two years I drove it, I liked to see how much gas I could save most of the time, at that time I would get 53 miles per gallon. I had a beautiful 2001 Toyota Tacoma V6 SR5 Pearl Jade TRD truck ( loved that truck) and I still feel like the Prius is my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. When I want to have a faster car for a day or two I rent Audi, and if I want a more refined car I rent a Lexus or a sports car. Lastly, I have had my Pruis here in my home state of Colorado in some pretty bad snow storms and it climbed four passes in storm ( One day) and it was rare to have any wheel slip ( the tires were close to the end of their life too). I still have the car and don't plan on buying anything new any time soon ( saved thousands on gas). It has a lot of storage space, especially the hatchback that I have. Best day to everyone.
Very enjoyable story. And I’ve heard from a friend of the Prius doing mountain passes against trucks in Colorado and the Prius winning! I missed out on a deal in 2020 pre lockdown, for a 2012 fully loaded Prius 160k miles, with solar panel for $7k !! Someone got it just before me.
@@marciamarciamarcia777 Thank you for sharing. That sounds like a fair price if it was in good shape ( the 2012 you were looking at). My car looks almost brand new inside. If you ever get one Michelin all-weather tires are fantastic. The new Prii (plural for Prius) comes with all-wheel drive on some models.
The rear door handles gives me CH-R vibes but with actual full-sized rear windows. Overall, its a much nicer prius!! If I wanted a Prius before, I DEFINITELY want one now. Awesome video guys!
Prius is a pioneer of hybrid drive, and already an automotive legend. When all parameters are taken into account (size, comfort, quality, price, maintenance, production...etc), perhaps the most efficient and greenest vehicle on the planet right now.
I'm not sure I'd call it the most efficient but it's certainly up there, honestly looks like a really comfy commuter for point A-B driving like work or groceries
Love the creativity and humour in this video and the others helping out with the skit, always a pleasure to watch you guys drive cars that will probably never drive lol
I drive a 2011 Toyota Prius for Uber eats work only but having a lot of seat time I really know the car it's slow yes but if you're a good driver and have some decent tires you can really drive it. This new one is an improvement by leaps and bounds and is as fast as my daily driver Honda Accord almost . Im seriously considering getting one in the future and trading my old one in.
I'm averaging 59-63 mpg in my Corolla hybrid (56mpg with more aggressive or longer highway driving) so I don't see a compelling reason to switch back to the Prius unless I were to the Prime. I would love the AWD option though, specially if I were in a more snowy climate.

The intro is on another level altogether. I haven't even started the main video, but I already hit the like and started commenting. You guys are awesome!
It’s a big step forward, but compromised by the lack of space in the rear seats (due to the sloping roofline) and the odd steering/instrumentation setup, which I think would be a deal breaker for me.
Never did I think I’d want to watch a Prius review. But not only did I want to watch this one I was not disappointed in any way. Great work as always gents!
I appreciate Toyota's effort to rethink and redesign the Prius. It is a solid nameplate but with a reputation where any revamp can only have a positive effect :D
Enchanting review as always. As I eek towards the twilight of my life things like the Prius become more appealing. I'm still at a loss as to why car audio systems sound like crap. The cheap Hi-Fi market has exploded over the last 10 years but affordable cars are 20yrs behind.
My intuition on that is that these companies have upmarket products they don’t want to cannibalize. If you want a truly great factory sound system from Toyota, you need to pony up for a Lexus with some Mark Levinson.
If that price holds, this is a great deal. The 2023 Civic hatch MSRP is about the same, but this has AWD, more hp, better options, and the fuel savings of a hybrid.
Perfect for door dashing. I can also see people tossing a nice body kit on it and getting crazy. I bet Hennessey will do something cool to it later on. The potential is there.
If only the development isn't delayed, we would've seen this car's body shell for the next iteration of apr Racing's Prius GT300 race car in Super GT. (Yes, there was a Prius Race Car which uses a V8 Hybrid system and kept some part of the road car's body in it)
6:37 hilarious intro! I also like this criticism of the engine that is missing in other reviews! As I've been saying, Toyota should focused on PHEV with engine as a range extender, thus minimizing the need for high revving engine.
I just want to point out that I never in a million years desire to watch a prius review, you guys make good content and that's enough for me to watch. A prius to me is just a hashtag obstacle in the road for me to pass :) good job.
Me on previous TH video: OMG! This intro tops it all! I don't know how you guys do it but this one will be hard to beat! TH: Challenge Accepted! #nailedit
Hopefully the Prius Prime review will come soon!! Can’t wait to get this or the fully electric SUV from Toyota. Hopefully the Toyota reliability stays the same with all these upgrades!
Not quite sure why #TheAlgorithm offered this to me, but I enjoyed it! The intro was brilliant and the running gag of using #HashtagDrops throughout the review afterward was hilarious. As someone who daily drives Priuses the 2023 model looks awesome, but I'm glad you showed #PainPoints for big and tall people too. Looking forward to seeing more from you guys!
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the resemblance of the headlights to that of a Ferrari SF90. If I were ever to own one that would be my license plate :')
Does anyone else see Ferrari SF90 in the headlight design and it’s actually looks ok but that intro absolutely class and the cut aways Seth Mc Farlane would be proud of nice work guys ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Around the 9:00 mark. Small tank? 51 mpg translate to 21.7 km/liter. And with a 40 liter tank you can run it for 870km around 540miles. That is not bad.
You guys have had some legendary intros but I think this one takes the crown. Hilarious, meta and satirical. Sheer perfection.

Thank you!
This was on Key and Peele's level
Well said.
The rear end of this is so sick. This really seems like a great option for a daily, and especially. since the looks have changed so drastically. A huge Toyota W, being able to change the whole vibe of the outside without it losing itself.
That’s one of the best intros yet 😂
THE most entertaining and hilarious intro Throttle House (or for that matter anyone else) has ever done. I was reluctant to watch your video review of the new Prius but that ‘marketing meeting’ of yours completely sold me! THANKS Thomas and James 👍👏😂

This intro was one of the funniest intros to any video I’ve seen. This was my first video I saw of you guys and the reason I subscribed
That must feel like a great upgrade. I had a Prius C as well and it saved me a ton of cash...but what a tin can on the highway.
@@ApothecaryTerry Why buy boring ass Toyota when Mazda makes even more reliable cars that are fun to drive and sexy to look at?
I have a 21 CHB 6mt as well. I absolutely love it
this might be the first Prius that Jeremy Clarkson doesn't hate with all his heart
No...just no
he doesn't like anything that doesn't have a v8/v6/sports car and cuz Jeremy is 260 years old he won't reconsider
Im sure he still does hate it, as do I.
@@ridgefrost he's not gonna like it, he just may not hate it as much as the previous ones
You guys deserve every ounce of success. Best show since OG top gear.
U must being referring to Rutledge Wood and the amazing Top Gear USA. Hahaha just kidding, they absolutely ruined that show!
Yes!
@Damar Fadlan There's always one....
One of the best RUclips channels ever, like how is this FREE CONTENT??????
You guys are seriously amazing !!! Best intro ever!!! Your reviews are so well done. Thank you for such brilliant work!
They are decent car's, but they get a lot of hate though
cross shopping between a Prius and a 86 😂
Well I mean they do actually have a ton in common with each other:
1. Both Japanese cars
2. Both 4-cylinder shitboxes
3. Roughly the same anemic power band.
4. Even Toyota’s best trims are literally just one letter away from spelling TURD 💩
5. No matter what they’re both always somehow in a poverty spec. 🤷🏼♂️ ALWAYS! 🤣
😈 One day if the Devil gives me a choice in hell between those two cars I’d definitely choose the Prius because at least then everyone will know that I’ve got a nasty little mangina.
This had to be the best intro to any review ever. You guys are killing as always.
this plus todays Hoovie's Garage doing The Price is Right? Best day 4 RUclips car shows ever? Quite possible
One of my favorite RUclips channels. Love waking up to a Throttle House episode and the intro has me DEAD 💀 on this one
this plus todays Hoovie's Garage doing The Price is Right? Best day 4 RUclips car shows ever? Quite possible
The Other Guys reference was BEAUTIFUL. Excellent video lads
The first two years I drove it, I liked to see how
much gas I could save most of the time, at that time I would get 53 miles per gallon.
Owner of a 2023 Prius here. I freaking love the intro. My new favorite from you guys. Absolutely cracked me up. My fifth time watching it.
The rear door handles gives me CH-R vibes but with actual full-sized rear windows. Overall, its a much nicer prius!! If I wanted a Prius before, I DEFINITELY want one now. Awesome video guys!
We have two older ones. The gas mileage is amazing! The high prices we had earlier didn’t phaze us at all. They are gasoline sippers!
Prius is a pioneer of hybrid drive, and already an automotive legend. When all parameters are taken into account (size, comfort, quality, price, maintenance, production...etc), perhaps the most efficient and greenest vehicle on the planet right now.
..... heartwarming and invigorating ......
I'm not sure I'd call it the most efficient but it's certainly up there, honestly looks like a really comfy commuter for point A-B driving like work or groceries
Love the creativity and humour in this video and the others helping out with the skit, always a pleasure to watch you guys drive cars that will probably never drive lol
that intro was incredible
Outstanding cinematography! I love the shots where you maintained focus on near objects and distant landscapes. Brilliant work, guys!
Thank you for bringing your own flavor of Top Gear quality chemistry to car reviews! This space would have been so sad without it!
A Prius with SF90 headlights but my God does it look good! Can't wait to review one here in Puerto Rico..!
And a Lambo rear lateral
I drive a 2011 Toyota Prius for Uber eats work only but having a lot of seat time I really know the car it's slow yes but if you're a good driver and have some decent tires you can really drive it. This new one is an improvement by leaps and bounds and is as fast as my daily driver Honda Accord almost . Im seriously considering getting one in the future and trading my old one in.
I never thought that I would ever enjoy watching a Prius review video.
I'm averaging 59-63 mpg in my Corolla hybrid (56mpg with more aggressive or longer highway driving) so I don't see a compelling reason to switch back to the Prius unless I were to the Prime. I would love the AWD option though, specially if I were in a more snowy climate.
You made a good choice with the Corolla hybrid.

What’s the horsepower on your Corolla hybrid

Finally, Thomas realizes that James really looks forward to the color segment.
@2:32 thank you for shaking Carsten to ensure he was alive. The enthusiasm is real!
The intro felt like a Key and Peele sketch, just incredible chemistry. You guys are the best
Edit: specifically, the Gremlins 2 sketch
Except funny 👈
13:50 I think the door is great for a drunk person. It kept him occupied long enough to Puke outside .
This intro should be an SNL skit. I really enjoy watching your entertaining car reviews. Fun and informative; creating a dialoge scenario when taking a ride with your best friend in a new car. Love it.
The intro is on another level altogether. I haven't even started the main video, but I already hit the like and started commenting. You guys are awesome!
I laughed so much during the intro. You guys are the best youtube car reviewers. Hands down.
It’s a big step forward, but compromised by the lack of space in the rear seats (due to the sloping roofline) and the odd steering/instrumentation setup, which I think would be a deal breaker for me.
The intros gets me everytime
Killer intro, biggest shock is only 3300 lbs with awd and full hybrid system. Good stuff!
I watch every single video you guys put out. even cars i dont even care for like the prius. Ive enjoyed it all. Thank you!
Easily one of the best things I've seen a car channel do, ever. Nice one boys!
The dedication to character Carston had through that opening. The man nearly didn’t move
I will never stop watching this channel 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Never did I think I’d want to watch a Prius review. But not only did I want to watch this one I was not disappointed in any way. Great work as always gents!
I appreciate Toyota's effort to rethink and redesign the Prius. It is a solid nameplate but with a reputation where any revamp can only have a positive effect :D
The Key and Peele valet energy for the intro is amazing
The amount of fun you guys had with this one is obvious. Thanks for getting The Other Guys reference in! #class
The intro 😭😭....y'all just get better every video 🤣
These skits before the review are so good, I prefer your videos over others please keep them going!
That is the single greatest intro in the history of car review intros ever. #singlegreatestintroever
Serious props for quoting Dirty Mike and the boys. So proud of you for this.

Probably best getting base sound system and upgrading aftermarket. Worth the investment for an avid listener
@@ConnorHammond I put $50 speakers in my Fiesta and it made a huge difference; probably worth doing the same with this.
Love you guys channel, y'all are a big reason I started my own channel, making even a Prius video entertaining lol. Keep it up!
I watch this not for the prius but for this comical yet REAL review!
I just want to point out that I never in a million years desire to watch a prius review, you guys make good content and that's enough for me to watch. A prius to me is just a hashtag obstacle in the road for me to pass :) good job.
I've worked in advertising for close to 2 decades now, the entry skid was way too real.
Their “dirty Mike and the boy’s”reference was perfection! I guess I’m not the only one who loves the movie “The Other Guys”
I would pick these rather another EV to be honest it really looks great 👍🔥
Not quite sure why #TheAlgorithm offered this to me, but I enjoyed it!
Best car channel OH MY GOD ANOTHA CLASSIC
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the resemblance of the headlights to that of a Ferrari SF90. If I were ever to own one that would be my license plate :')
I have my own IRL name so I can find my damn car in the parking lot 😂 (plate is ofc transferable to a new car)
I have a feeling this will be a top seller!
Wow I can't believe how good it looks.
For the firstime the Prius actaully look nice!
P.S.I lmao in first few minutes , This is some top quality TV there Keep it up!
