- The 2024 Cybertruck Cyberbeast ($99,990 starting in the US) is possibly the most polarizing and most unique new vehicle on the market today. Sharp edges and acute angles along with an ultra-durable stainless steel exterior make for a truck like none other before it. But is it more than just a unique mars-rover looking novelty? And does the Cybertruck’s range live up to the expectations? Thomas and James are excited to take the new Cyberbeast on a not-so-mini Throttle House Road Trip. We hope you enjoy the episode! And then subscribe, silly.

Damn that fridge to fender transition was SLICK.
There actually wasn't any Fridge 😂
@@its_kay_08I laughed so hard when the fridge turned out to just be the car 😂
Tesla needs atleast 450wh/kg battery cells to make this truck real practical,if they can manage to have 400wh/kg in pack level energy density with 100 kwh battery pack it will weigh 500 kg or 1100 lbs lighter than it is,with lighter chassis and lighter drive units with weight of 60 kg or 132 lbs each they can save 700 kg or 1540 lbs in total from this amazing truck with super low energy consumption 12kwh/100 km or 19.2 kwh/100 miles new gen e drive units you will have about 550 miles real world range, then it will be really what cybertruck needs to be,panasonic stated that they will produce silicon anode 21700 cell later 2024 with 50 percent more energy per unit.if they manage to mass produce this new 2170 cells and tesla make new generation e drive units we can expect 2026 cyber truck with new drive train and 700 kg or 1540 lbs lighter in weight and range of 550 miles on a single charge

More of a "bait and switch." James said "fridge" which made you think fridge, but it was the fender of the Cybertruck the entire time.

3:40 if magnets stick to it, that means it's a low grade of stainless steel and won't last under harsh conditions
It's literaly untreated steel and there is already case of rusting on cybertrucks after only a few weeks.
Stainless will be magnetic at some point of heat treat. The cyber truck has a 301 body that can be magnetic. Even just the kicking of the door panels is probably enough to cold work the metal.
@@yapod9061 one guy reported that his CT started rusting after 11 days. For 80.000$ car that's abysmal.

The fact the only rear view becomes unusable in poor driving conditions is nuts. This car cost almost as much as my house and you can’t even reliably see behind you in it. Aint there security rules in the USA? This what you said, no deformation to take out energy, sharp edges, and on top of it pretty high.
Imagine if somebody struck your parked Cybertruck and it defended itself? Sounds like a feature to me
Not a car guy, but this video was genuinely so good. This bit at 20:10 had me cracking up. "Those things aren't _on_ any planet! So its built for every _other_ planet _but_ this one!"

I don’t understand how Pop Up Headlight’s were discontinued due to pedestrian safety of the lights being “sharp”, but then allows Tesla to make a damn Knife on wheels in the name of cutting edge technology (pun intended) that can slice a small hand.
I'd take the pop up headlights back any day of the week over this tin can
Because Elon is a troll, and I’m sure the designers looked at the rule book, followed it to the T, to prove some misguided point about regulation, disregarding the spirit of the regulations
It’s because other cars are sold in global markets where they actually have pedestrian safety laws. North America has none and has always just relied on foreign markets to regulate our cars for us.
As of now 41 idiots like this comment. The us has no rules regarding pop up headlights for pedestrian safety. That is a European rule of course. Elon already said the cybertruck wont be sold outside of US. He built a car the way he wanted. F the world. Come to America if you want one.
Are you sure they were banned strictly due to pedestrian safety? Pop-up headlights make a lot less sense in the era of daytime running lights. Maintenance costs of pop-up headlights were already a concern, but when you need them to pop-up literally every time the car is driven, that increases wear and tear significantly.
When you own a cybertruck, you will be constantly worried that one day you see someone else in the same car. That would make you feel like you paid a fortune just to tell a joke that everybody heard before.

Hey guys, just an FYI. When you touched the wheel cover and said you had brake dust on your fingers, that probably was not brake dust. The little wings on the wheel covers scrape the sidewalls with every rotation of the wheels when the tire sidewall flexes out slightly from the weight.
That…doesn’t make it any better. It’s still poorly designed shit.
@@chadwicknottingham6261 Yes it is. The last I heard was that there is a current redesign of the wheel covers to prevent this. It should have been figured out since day 1 though.
@timingenkamp3973 It probably was by the engineering team, but Musk said to go ahead with it anyway. I suspect that happened probably hundreds of times with this little pet project of his…

i have not enjoy any other car documentary after the legend. but this, thank you throttle house for the videos you put out. its been a long time man , needed this.
The carrot test. I heard of the moose test. All sorts of tests. But not the carrot test. :) I see the frunk lid coming down on the carrots. You know the rubber trim around the door openings? Put something like that on the underside of the frunk lid edge. It’s better to have rubber squeeze your finger than that raw sharp steel. Also I had a Mac laptop that had a sharp edge so I used a bit of sandpaper to dull down the sharpness. And it worked! Of course, don’t overdo it and make a knife edge, just make it round to the feel. Some locations where panels meet and don’t come apart like with doors and lids, these joints could be filled with black or charcoal grey caulking. Put enough in so skin can’t reach the sharp edge. It should be barely noticeable if carefully done. And it makes the truck a bit more child proof.
I also saw how much the steel shows fingerprints and scratches. People making outdoor plaster on a house make a rough design because if they made it perfectly smooth the smallest nick would be noticeable. Superficial designs could be ground into the steel not deep enough that it can’t be buffed out but deep enough to have some durability and get noticed. So this could be swirls over all the surfaces or floral designs just where fingerprints usually show up. Or it could be a whole mural over the whole truck. Or a combination of these. So the way a tattoo is unique to one person, your Cybertruck would have a look unique to it, which could be covered up with a wrap for a change of pace. This idea could be pushed more by applying colour into some of the deepest grooves to give it a more noticeable look. One look would be intentionally make it look like it experienced the apocalypse, with red and orange and yellow and blue rust colours.
"That's not littering, that's for the bears" accurate Canadian comment.
My question is, do that say that about lost children as well?
Bot with stolen comment.
“I’m going to go home and kick my Miata, forgetting THAT’S NOT WHAT YOU DO.” 😂😂😂
5:00 perfectly summarises the cybertruck
Having a big TV screen nailed right on the dashboard and having to see it while driving is a big no go.
13:39 … I don’t know where I stand on it… WHILST JAMES WAS STANDING ON IT… the humour knows no bounds
I was waiting for James to go, “Well you’re not, mate…I am.”
Perfect opportunity for "I know exactly where I'm standing on it.. The top."
but that was the whole point….
"The safety net that is Fresno" 😂😂😂😂 words I'll never hear again in my life
Hahahaha I was thinking the same exact thing. Clearly Canadians 😂
Hey, there is bound to be some form of safety in the armpit of the central valley :P

Nitpick: you need to flip your little map icon on the return trip. It looks like you’re backing up all the way home.
A huge issue I have with just about every new vehicle is the fact that everything is controlled by tablets now, so you have to look away from the road to adjust something.

Biggest reason I sold my 2023 Golf R after owning it for 4 months. The thing was unusable
Because it's cheaper to produce sadly whilst being marketed as more 'premium'
Just when I think you've found a rythm, you go out and completely blow me away. The production quality, cinematographic (The fridge shot especially), the pacing, the writing all of it was beyond top notch. A perfect mix of comedy and insight that truly goes unreplicated elsewhere.
I remember the days when they were neck-and-neck with the straight pipes before they just really put the pedal to the floor. This was straight cinematic. I straight up forgot what I was doing and just got lost in the video
@@Tential1because every straight pipes video feels the exact same for the past five years.
There was never a fridge
What's cool is the chemistry you seen between Thomas and James is all real, not an act. When they went on the Smoking Tire podcast, they had the same silly antics in the studio, and were just as hilarious.
Nice job. I liked how you looked a the truck with an open mind
24:45 "Everyone loved it" I'm sure. I bet they loved that you had one for them to look at. You got one, so they never have to.
Man that 40 minutes went like a...Cybertruck...Hands down the best car review content I've seen in ages, 10/10 for humor and engagement too. Love ya work gents!
Didnt even realize it eas a 40 minute video until I saw your comment
Me neither!
Cybertruck handled like Lotus Elise due to how nimble the car handles.
@@purwantiallan5089handles more like a Humvee than a lotus Elise 😂
“This looks fun and funky”. Seriously? It makes the Pontiac Aztek look good.
"i dont know where i stand on it" > guy literally standing on it
This video was so good I subscribed even though I don't really have any interest in cars.
I've watched SOOO many YT videos on the Cyber Truck but no one ever mentioned the real dangers to our fingers
THIS IS A WAY BETTER HONEST REVIEW FOR EVERYDAY PEOPLE
GREAT VID 👍
There's a whole bunch of videos showing the same. Before this one. That's why they even thought of it really
That’s odd that you’ve watched so many videos but never saw that since they took the idea straight from Kyle’s out of spec review of the cyber truck where he demonstrated the carrot chopping
@@Jeddin what's so odd? I have a cyber truck reserved. It's very expensive and it's the most technologically advanced thing you can buy. You think it's odd that I'm watching videos? I think you're odd
@@jamiered7102 it’s odd becausr with your interest you somehow missed the out of spec series on the cyber truck. They were the first RUclipsrs out of Tesla cooperation that got the cyber truck to review and they only did a four or five part video series totaling hours of content, describing the pros cons and the dangerous as well. Also going to detail regarding all the technical aspects. If you’re actually interested in buying it, you should check them out.
@@jamiered7102a little defensive are we? That's not even what that guy said. He said it's weird to have watched many videos about the truck and not know about the sharpness issue because it's well known. NOT that it's weird to have watched the videos....and he was talking to OP not you 🤣
How do their videos keep getting better. This the best RUclips channel and automotive show by a mile. Incredible host chemistry, hilarious bits, super informative, and insane production value. Just wow.
Brilliant review! I laughed my ass off a few times. Brilliant! Top gear quality video!
Well done
It looks like a low poly PS2 game.
James, as he holds the giant floppy wiper: "was I ready to be pegged..."
Thomas:
😂🤣😅
this whole movie gave me so much nostalgia to the good ol' Top Gear crew, felt like i was tuning in for another adventure/car review!
I thought the same thing. I'm glad I stumbled across this channel
exactly! they did a good job. i almost heard jeremy, james and hamster in some parts, lol. chris broad, a youtuber in japan had a 3 week car trip recently (he's from the UK) and it felt close to top gear as well
Exactly! Reminded top gear, was my first thought and thats why i watched all of it
It's still on TV, called the Grand Tour.
I wish people would stop saying this
First video ever from this channel but love that these are two good friends that are passionate and having fun with what they’re doing.
LOL Thomas legit looks like he got whiplash hitting the truck in the shopping cart.
5:15 Thomas has fully retconned the “it’s like a child drew a car” meme into “this car was based on a concept sketch by Elon’s kid” 😂
I actually think your carrot stunt @29:02 will result in a meaningful safety upgrade for the truck ASAP. Tesla is one huge lawsuit away from a customer losing four fingers at an airport putting their carry-on in the frunk from doing it themselves. Seriously, this should be fixed ASAP.
When I was a young lad my sister slammed my finger shut in our trusty 1990 Volvo 245 rear door. The door shut completely. I remember the day vividly. If my family had a Cybertruck little Aaron would have grown up with nine fingers. I have 10 (it turned black and blue but healed in a few weeks).
Nice work lads keep up the interesting content!
Are you a lawyer 🤔
Even putting aside how educational it is, this video is just super fun to watch! Great job guys!! :D
Dude, this is not a car review. This is a freaking feature film of the Cybertruck. And I lmao'ed so hard at 39:24.
