- In 2015, Greece found itself on the frontline of the biggest refugee crisis since World War II and caught unprepared to receive record numbers of people. The EU shut its border to Greece in 2016 to prevent refugees from moving further up the continent, leaving 50,000 people trapped there. Among them are up to 3,000 unaccompanied children aged 12 to 17 who have traveled alone from countries like Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan. With insufficient accommodation, almost half of the young unaccompanied refugees in Greece have fallen outside of the system, many ending up on the streets where they are exposed to all sorts of dangers, including sexual exploitation and abuse.

I'm Pakistani but they are speaking Punjabi. There is no conflict in Punjab province. They are illegal immigrants, Europe should only accept legitimate refugees. I feel sorry for them but they wrong for exploiting the refugee crisis to migrate.

This is very sad. The mayor of Seattle was recently ousted for 'allegedly' exploiting a troubled youth(s)-- and not soon after, the victim committed suicide. Those kids will suffer a long time because of the perverse desires of a merciless adult.

the Kashmir conflict
the Balochistan conflict in the south
and tensions with India on their borders but that's still somewhat safer than the other areas I mentioned

I'm a citizen of Athens and everything is true.There is a huge scale of young underage boys & girls(mostly boys) prostitution and the sadest thing is that the center of Athens-Omonia(not syntagma) is the most high crime place to be(at night mostly).It's really sad to see in that huge scale people homeless...although there are amazing people that help them with food shelter and my self trying to give them some food.We really trying-us the citizens not the europe-to help them and protect them but you really can't understand the numbers that is stuck to Greece.Everyday 600 people and more came to Greece by sea or by the borders.(Im really sorry for my grammar but it's 1pm and i'm really tired)

This is true, I’m here on holiday from Malaysia and theres so many refugees its very sad. Mostly afghani. The greek people are very sweet as they always help with food and money, even the police all out of kindness but the government doesn’t do anything. Its only the people that have hearts.

The educated people like effective entrepreneurs , good writer , engineers ,doctors etc people wants to get out from this country because of the bad health , bad road safety, bad education and all . Young school kids dies in the road almost every day just because of bad road safety . We are not in a war but surely Bangladesh is not a good country to live in .

I am from the middle east and here is my opinion: developed nations are not obligated to accept refugees if they wished so. its a moral and humane act but not an obligation. from what I read on the internet Europeans afraid the most from demographic change if that is the case. they could accept refugees only from collapsed nations like Syria and Yemen, only temporary until their country becomes stable and they can go back do not give them citizenship. I dont think Europeans would mind these refugees for few years until their country stand on its feet and they can go back.
Why don't Muslim countries not in war right now accept all the Muslim refugees? Wouldn't the Muslim refugees find it easier to adjust and be accepted with the local people? Also, when did Pakistan go through war in the last 20 years.

They have to survive the unimaginably dangerous journey, and after they dry themselves from the raging sea or dust themselves after arriving safe countries, they still face endless problems and misfortunes. It is simply heartbreaking, how can we turn them away?

@@TrKUc first of all, how would you know that most Pakistanis who have come to France are not fleeing danger? Have you seen Pakistan? The only prosperous regions of Pakistan is Karachi and Northern Punjab. The country's only wealth is centralized in the far north and far south. Everywhere in between is impoverished, dangerous, desolate and feels like the Wild West.
Secondly, it depends on the definition of danger. Many Pakistanis do not want to stay in Pakistan because they do not want themselves and their families to starve due to a lack of job opportunities. And Pakistanis have also started to overlook Middle Eastern countries because they fear being treated like slaves therein.
Thirdly, everywhere else in Pakistan, if you go to the villages and towns you would see the people there are always facing natural calamities from pests to disease to floods to earthquakes. Farmers in South Punjab are committing suicide in the droves while youngsters struggle to find opportunities to feed themselves. In Khyber Pakhtunkwa the Taliban is regularly infiltrating the Durand Line. In Balochistan the military has enforced the disappearances of tens of thousands of people. In Sindh's villages and towns, the people are dying of easily-curable disease, and are so dirt poor it makes Zimbabwe look like a wealthy, prosperous country. Not to mention, there is lots of ethnic conflict, tribal feudalism, and persecution of minorities. It would be too complicated having to explain all the different oppression and rivalries in Pakistan at the moment, but I truly believe that Pakistan is the land of injustice.
Fourthly, they actually do risk their lives by crossing through countries like Iran, Turkey, Greece, etc. where they could be detained, mugged, kidnapped or beaten by border police, highway robbers, bandits, human traffickers, etc.
Fifthly, just because Pakistan is not a country officially in war, it does not mean that Pakistan is free of persecution, violence and a lack of public order. Not all refugees are fleeing war. The UN defines refugees as:
"Persons who are outside their country of origin for reasons of feared persecution, conflict, generalized violence, or other circumstances that have seriously disturbed public order and, as a result, require international protection."
To clarify my stance, the government of Pakistan, and more importantly, the Army is ultimately responsible for creating a country where our generals play golf at Ritz Carlton hotels and invest in London and Dubai, while people in the countryside die of thirst or tuberculosis. I don't believe any country should bear the brunt of refugees or asylum seekers or whatever you wish to label them as. The countries they come from are responsible for creating them, along with the debt vultures like the IMF that have exacerbated poverty in countries like Pakistan.

Can someone also talk about the issues refugees are causing in countries like Germany, Greece etc.? There are no go zones for police in UK, Greece, Germany, France and other European countries. There were mass tapes reported in Germany (by Islamic refugees) but no one's covered it? If countries have such experiences with them why will they open their borders for them?

Efciky they are 15 and 16 . I’m 45 so they are young children to me . They are not 18 . Regardless it’s a very sad situation even if they were 18 . Any person who has to lower their morals to survive and eat makes me very sad . Most likely they will abuse either drugs or alcohol to live with the guilt , shame and trauma from the whole cluster fuck situation . I have empathy for those who suffer under such dire circumstances 😢

And when you see newspaper articles about refugee teenagers, the term "fake news" becomes so true. You can easily add at least 10 years to their age, in most cases more, then you'd be much closer to their real age.
