I was married to my Polish husband for 47 years and he taught me this dish the first week we were married. We always had them with some baked ham slices and ALWAYS served with applesauce and sour cream. He passed away in 2017 and every time I make this most favorite dish, I remember how much fun I had learning to cook new foods. Thanks, Jenny, for sharing your recipes with us. And for reminding me how much I love cooking even at age 72. 🥹❤️
Awwww ❤
❤ 🤗 thank you for sharing
Hey Jenny I need to get confidence in the kitchen and with your fun step by step instructions I just might become a great cook love you Jenny
Looking for a potato pancake recipe and I got a blast from the past. The Jenny Jones show was my favorite thing to watch when I was a teenager.
This lady knows her stuff. I loved potatoe pancakes as a kid and I never in(all these years) learned how to make them. I can't wait. Even a little lesson on flipping. I love this lady.
This gal is wonderful at giving directions. Best I have ever watched. Simple, easy to follow. thank you so much.
I always used to beg my grandma to make these. She’s still alive, she just turned 90 and is fighting cancer. I wanna make these because I miss them. Thanks for the recipe.
Sorry to hear about your granny, I was really close to mines and I miss her so much.
Make them for your granny jimmy
@@littleme3597 I was looking for this comment, Thank you for stating this.
Good food doesn’t have to be complicated. Your teaching style is perfect
You rock! I'm Polish as well, my Babcia makes these. I'm going to make these and add in some diced chives. Thanks!
I couldn't even finish this video without saying that your kitchen makes me so happy. All that colour. Wow! That is the coolest knife I have ever seen!

I found your video a few years ago. It’s been the best Potato Pancake recipe ever. Thanks.
I'm eating these right now -Absolutely the best potato pancakes ever! They were simple to make, fast, and pretty-much fool-proof. I've tried many, many recipes but this is hands-down the best.
Hi Jenny,
firstly a BIG thank you for showing us all of those wonderful Polish dishes. I’m Polish and it’s really nice to see some Polish recipes.
Secondly, my grandma used to make those pancakes very often. She always grated the potatoes and onions on a grater. And she fried them really thin. So they were incredibly crispy and thin. We ate them for dinner either with sour cream and chives or with sugar. From where I am we call them placki ziemniaczane. Actually, I haven’t made them in a really long time. You inspired me to. Thanks once again!
My mother from Poland, misses her food … thank you, you brought me back to childhood.
We had apple sauce, cottage cheese, options
My mother was polish and this is about the only dish I still know how to make. Love the channel
Certainly brings back memories of my Grandma! Makes me hungry just watching! Potato cakes were always a favorite of mine! Thanks!
I can't tell you how thankful I am for this recipe. My mum made THE BEST potato pancakes, but I'm approaching 20 years without her, and 33 years+ without her making them for our family. She was Ukrainian, and this recipe is almost exactly hers with one major important difference that I can't wait to try- the 5 min drain through the strainer.
I have not been able to for figure out why mine are so watery and greasy. I would use more oil because of the watery batter. Now I know what to do!! I am trying this tomorrow. Thank you and God bless you!
Thanks Jenny! Just paid $6.45 for a small box of potato pancake mix! I serve them with sour cream and apple sauce, so good!❤ I will now make them from your recipe, for pennies! Expect A miracle! 🙏🏻😇🕊 from California ( sorry ) lol
Jenny, I missed you after all these years. I am so happy to of found your channel! I am glad you're doing well. You look amazing! ❤
I've not been able to make a Potato Pancake I liked until now. My Pancakes were Awesome! Thanks for the Video.
Love your recipes , so easy. My husband is polish and am always looking to surprise him with polish meals. U make the preparation so easy.
you are a wonderful person. thank you for all you do. thank you jenny.
My grandfather from East Prussia used to make them with green onion and then would serve them with my grandmothers home made berry jams and fresh cream, they were great.
that sounds amazing :o
never sour cream
Thank you! My husband and I both grew up having these as part of our regular mealtimes and loved them. After several attempts with no real success we were frustrated beyond belief. While we had the recipe we somehow managed to never been allowed to help beyond grating the potatoes and onion and as a result we were missing one step. We weren't adding the potato starch back in and as a result they wouldn't fry properly. We tried adding a little more flour, a little more of liquid back in and even tried an extra egg all with no success, it never even occured to me to add starch back in, even though I was aware it separated from the water when I did the clean up,. Thank you again, we're so happy to be able to add them to the menu rotation for our family. 😊
I have been craving potato pancakes for a month and just happened upon your channel, so thanks.
Love potato dumplings, never had the pancakes but they look terrific.
Amazing Philippines
Thank you for showing me how to make them without the grinder. You are awesome.
Thanks Jenny. I had learnt making polish foods from your channel. My husband is polish so I gotta keep the tradition :)
I got a food processor for Christmas from my good lady. First time I have owned one in 50+ years and this is one of the first things I've made in it. Easy and delicious, thank you.
I have to say Jen, (...I can call you that, cos that's my dear wifes name, lol ) It is so refreshing to see such clear no-bullshit, Tube recipes put together as well as you have done, - Very clear and easy, - even for a vague old boy like me to follow. Thanks
i have to agree with brad the was crystal clear and easy to follow
I just found her channel, and I agree totally. She is so clear and organized and just really knows what she is doing.

Nancy Wilke same. I think she was an actress I can’t put my finger on it.......
Nancy Wilke 1990s talk show host JENNY JONES!!!! :) now I remember
Jenny Jones!!! She was a talk show host
I took one look/listen (before seeing the name Jenny) and was so excited in my mind thinking “That is Jenny Jones, WOW she look great!”. So nice to see her again after all these years
I love your way of cooking ... informative, easy & elegant.
Just made these exact to your recipe. I swept a tiny bit of creme fraich over the polish pancakes (I know but this is a treat!), then topped it with an over easy egg, then dribbled a sauce mixture of a dallop of mayo, saracha and dijon sauce mixed together over the egg, then scattered fried Portuguese sausage slithers all around. I ate an unbelievably delicous international breakfast... for dinner!
Mary Leialoha oh my Mary that's my kinda fixins!!!!!🏁cheers
OMG! Are you (and your cooking skills) available for hire?

Wow that sounds amazing
You're just bragging now, lol
I like your videos. They're informative and not too long. My mother-in-law had taught me to make several Polish dishes, including Pierogi and Naleschniki.
Potato pancakes is yummy, I’ve made this before it’s good,a different way to have potatoes
I’m watching from America and love your recipes and am anxious to try them. It’s 10:00PM so will have to Waite till morning. Thank you so much.
Great cooking, simple and to the point. I am not an American, but I see myself as a citizen of the world, yet born on the African Continent. Your so passionate and lovable, the secret of good cooking is the love you put in it. You can be the best cook in the world, but if there is no love added into the mixture life will taste sour and just boring, perfect....you go girl.
Agree! Jenny has always had the sweet smile and loving personality that makes it even more enjoyable to watch, plus fabulous recipes too!!
Brilliant......you took me back to my childhood, dad was a dab hand at making these...thanks!
Love the Jenny videos, they are very accurate and love the endings ~ These potato pancakes are the best! I am 100% Polish!
My husband has gone to Poland with his work several times and I know that he loved the food. He is from Germany and his father is from Poland and so I can't wait to make these for my husband. I think he will really like them. I am so glad I found your videos. They help me so much., Thanks!
I have these for lunch often. They're great with homemade ketchup or even with maple syrup! So versatile.
I just made these for my husband and he said they need to go into my every day cookbook and I so liked them too. It was the first time I had potato pancakes. I did them without any oil, in a Organic Ceramic pan and, Just Wow!
Thank You so much for doing this recipe. Such a help. You are always cheerful and so pleasant to watch and listen to! Your humor at the end is always delightful! Puts a smile on my face for sure!
I'm Acadian (from Canada) and I've been eating those since I was very young. And what a surprise when I was in Poland in 1983 and I was served patato pancakes! I want to try these...for supper! It's been a while since I had some...
...Well I did them for supper and they are so goooood! I've adopted the recipe. I had doubled the recipe and had some left over so I will try them in scrambled eggs as you suggested.
What a lovely Lady; what a beautiful voice. I made the pancakes exactly as she instructed and they are like herself, absolutely beautiful. Thank you from Australia.
I grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn NY and my English Mother made these all the time😃. Still enjoy them to this day!
I just made these potato pancakes as you show, and both my wife and myself are HOOKED! :) Thanks so much!!!!
Love your channel. I'm beginning to think my mom was polish! Potato pancakes were a staple growing up.
Thanks Jenny, those look great. Growing up, my Polish dad never used to drain the water, I like the looks w/o the water. Me and my 4 brothers used to do all the grating and by the time we were done, a lot of the potatoes would be brown, lol. But my mom used to fry these and we would eat them as they came out and she could barely keep up!! Loved these. (We also used sour cream, but lately I have found that plain yogurt tastes just like sour cream but is healthier, I will have to try it on these. Thanks again, hope you are staying safe!
I tried these last night, and they were a big hit. I will certainly make them again. Thanks!
Just made them, they were great! We used olive oil on low heat and they turned out perfect. Thank you!
My Mom used to make these and we loved them :-)
I Love potato pancakes!!!! Your recipe is great!! Thank you for sharing your recipe!!!
Loved the way you explained this. I love these things!
Well done Jenny. You make it all look so simple it becomes an encouragement to go ahead and try. Thanks.
Hey this looks so easy. Straining them makes them fry better and faster. I'm not polish but mom always made them. Thank you! Amen!!!
This is my 1st time watching you cook and you are too precious! You make me wanna hug you! Oh- I enjoyed the cooking lesson too of course.
I just love watching Jenny cook. Then I go and make the recipe myself...MMMMM. And you are so entertaining, too, Jenny. I think you are turning me on to great Polish foods.
OMG this reminds me of my mother's potato pancakes that she made when i was young. I havent had these in years but will have to make this recipe. Its amazing how food can bring back such good memories. Thanks Jenny!
Yes, it feels like a warm hug from the past.
The videographer did an amazing job filming Jenny!!! There was no jerry movement with the Camera!!! I looove Jennys very cozy kitchen!!! Humanity needs to understand whether they live in a very big house or a tiny house their friends really appreciate being in a cozy kitchen that smells of real home cooking!!! I loove to keep a cozy kitchen like Jenny as I always enjoy playing in the kitchen...it's my playground!!!
Sometimes I don't even care for the recipe. Just want to see someone positive : )
Exactly my thought. This lady is just pleasant to listen to.

You were my favorite talk show host.. Now you are my favorite Chef 👏🏽
This EXACTLY the way my MOM made them, thank you for the recipe, my six sisters were no help
Yummy, looks good
Sucks when sisters done help a brother learn to cook.
omfg. I've been making latkes for 30 plus years and not only did these come out EXACTLY like she said....they are (sniff) better than my old recipe. Thank You Jenny!!
Jenny, you have inspired me to make fresh and switch from box stuff. Thank you so much.
I am 74 years old and I remember clearly making potato pancakes with my Maternal Grandmother. I loved them (and loved her). She was of Polish/Russian/Ukrainian and Jewish extraction and boy could she cook! I don't think she knew about the "oil thing" but for sure, I will be making these again and will do it the healthy way. Thanks Jen! Oh! And you have a PERFECT SMILE! Needed that smile.......Thank you!
I can not wait to give these a try!! I have your stuffed cabbage in the oven now. I love you recipes!!
we had potato pancakes with chicken soup often except we grate raw potato coarsely and sometimes add a little sweet potato. loved the crunchier outer rim and softer centre . the also go well with apple sauce
My mom used to add leftover corn (frozen or fresh). I like to use green onion with the sour cream or put them in the potato pancake as well as the white or yellow onion. It a great way to get creative and add all sorts of things. My hubby loves them with bacon :D Thank you for bringing back some happy memories
I'm 71 and remember my Babci serving her potato plackies with bacon, baked apples, sour cream and homemade crusty rye bread...my gosh, I'm headed to the store. Thanks Jenny.
They look great, thanks again and I love your beautiful personality, a real pleasure to watch (-:
First time watcher and first time commenter. I’m instantly hooked. Jenny is so genuine with her cooking as well as her stories. Just an easy and laid back feel and now I know how to cook a bit better haha.
Never really watched Jenny's talk show, but this cooking channel is killer! Best tater pancake ever! Thanks for the recipe!
I am Polish and I confirm this is an actual potato pancakes recipe (w/o grating) my mother would make for me :)
Love your channel Jenny! I really like how easy and simple you make things.
jenny I'm just a kid, but I made this for my parents and they loved it. thank you!
You're hair is so cute and I love all the colors in your kitchen! Thanks for your recipe. Looks great!
I knew you looked familiar, and when I checked the webpage I knew why.
So great to see you again, and what a great demonstration. I'm thinking I have to try it now.
Jenny can cook! And she does it and pigtails- fabulous.
dragonguerst-
Wow, exactly as I remember "Kartoffelpuffer" from my childhood in Germany except this method is so much easier - I belong to the generation that used a shredder and many a knuckle turned bloody whilst preparing the potatoes. In my family this was traditionally served with applesauce. Also, the addition of a little chopped parsley to the dough before frying is very nice. I particularly like the small amount of oil used, the taste is better and your heart will thank you. I'm seriously impressed, thank you Jenny
The ending was too cute :D

O please
When you see a six burner stove and buckets of cooking utensils at the ready. It’s a pretty good indication you have landed in the right kitchen. Great video thank you.
I hope this will work with sweet patatoes as well. Been looking at recipies of those and this seems the easiest and quickest way to make pancakes with patatoes. Nice.
This is the holy grail of potato pancake recipes. I bow down
My mother used the same recipe but always used box grater cause there were no food processers😄. but she used 4 or 5 pds of potatoes (big family). we ate them with sour cream, applesauce, cottage cheese, and canned salmon. Delish!
Just like my MOM use to make I just couldn't remember guess what I'm going to make tomorrow thanks for bringing back great memories
"left-overs" - a concept I've heard about but never seen myself :D :D :D
Love potato pancakes and maybe l can make them now, a very good video. Thanks
Ah Jenny.....The only modern day principled talk show host with genuine good hearted emotions and commitment to each of her shows. Tomorrow Ill do the potatoes cakes the Jenny Jones way. No more wondering why my left over mashed potatoes were such soupy pancakes.
One very late subscriber.
Thanks Jenny, great video!. I especially like the way you have the recipe link in the video. You are the first person I know of who makes it so easy to get the recipe. Most of the time I am writing fast and then can' t read my writing. I printed out the recipe and I am going to try these, they look delicious!
I have printed many of Jenny's recipes and keep them in book ring! I love how easy and delicious Jenny's recipes are!
You know, I know you used to be on TV, but I can't remember what the show was, but I always remember you here on youtube making your cooking vids. Thank you! I enjoy watching you best here.
I love your videos!!! I'm usually not good at making these but you make it look easy!!! I'm going to try again!:)
Wow you are awesome Jenny!!!! Never knew there existed an easier way to make potato pancakes!!! Thank you very much!!!!
So nice to “see” you again, Jenny. You’ve aged so gracefully. Thank you for the recipe, it was delicious. 😋
Straight forward directions. I'm trying them now. No egg or oil. Making them vegan. I use egg replacer and dry frying. Smells good. Tastes great. Thanks
Thank you so much for the is video. I could almost smell them cooking. My dear dziadek(Polish Grand father) used to make 'platski' the old fashion way when my sisters and I were kids, on a Sunday morning. I, still to this day, late in my life, enjoy them with apple sauce. Dziekuje(thank you) for this video. Sincerely Bruce Raykiewicz(Rajkiewicz)
Just trying this recipe now. You are such a joy to watch and I love your kitchen!
I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing
I have tried several potato pancake recipes. All are similar, but your recipe is both the easiest and by far the best. Thank you so much.
