Thank you Mari, looking forward to all your videos every Friday. I am a South African, might move to SG soon. Your videos really give an insight of what one should expect.
@@intheworldofmari I love 😍😍😍 your videos Mari dear, I am just wondering do you need my place a converted studio unit, semi-furnished with attached bath & toilet & large separate kitchen and sea breeze near HarbourFront (Vivocity) / Telok Blangah MRT Station (exactly 5 mins walk only) @ only SGD980 about 40sqm (cheapest) I am a Singaporean missionary currently posted to Philippines for over 5 years. Thank you & God Bless, Julie😊🙏
I really love this video you have made, this has helped me make the decision of moving to SG, as I used to live in SG when I was younger but I can’t remember it clearly. Thanks from Canada!
You will find Singapore to be an expensive place to stay after a trip to the ER or dentist. There's a reason why Malaysia is known for its medical tourism, many locals go to Malaysia for major dental works
Hello again! Excellent video as usual. I watch all of your videos and it makes me miss Singapore more and more. Keep up the good work and I really appreciate your efforts to stay so positive during such a difficult time. Take care and be safe!!
Thank u for your honest list of pros & cons. As for wines, our goby feels that it’s a luxury item & tax is high that’s why it’s expensive. Instead of South African wines, u nay want to try Australian wines such as Brown Brothers, WolfBlass, etc But if u like dryer ones, go for French’s. There’s some pretty nice German & Italian wines too!
Thanks Lee! Yes I have tried a few other wines from other countries but SA wines are always my favourite. 😂 but not the $22 bottle ones that’s $4 in SA😂
Like all countries, there pro and con. There many good stuff here which the locals take for granted. It is admitted that Singapore is small. It in the past, use to hop to another country without problems. Hongkong or China is only 4hrs away. Thailand around 2 hrs. If you are in a big country, you probably need around the same number of hours to travel from States to States. Nice to hear you like Singapore and hope Singapore will give you an unforgettable experience. Cheers
Hello Mari, My first time watching your channel. I enjoyed . .Good to know your experiences living here in our country. Keep posting on your channel. Bye ,thanks
Great video!! Agree with the customer service bit too, I’ll smile at the cashier at 711 or bus drivers, though some will reciprocate, others just stare back with a blank look. 😐 haha.
Mari, someone recommended your channel to me because Ive just been offered a job in SG. [If I take it, SG will be the 7th country, I'd be living in]. I throughly appreciate your perspective but as a fellow South African I'm disappointed that you keep knocking our country😕. Yes we have problems but we also have a gees that's unique😉. Try and not be as hard on us, please - DBN, 🇿🇦 [Happy belated birthday btw].
Singapore does not aspire to be a melting of cultures. We just want to be a mosaic - every culture retaining their uniqueness like a tile but each piece is in harmony with its adjacent pieces and together form a beautiful picture.
I agree with what you shared; but you omitted - the very-very high rent and property prices! Also, the $$$$$ mentality and high stress work life and daily life (people are rude, in a constant rush; and judgmental). Oh yes, for non-white, who are you? Do you speak English? Lucky that you are born white so “born right.” I am a teacher too.
Singapore public transportation fare is low because many of the drivers are foreigners, thus lowering the cost. You should be selling South African Wines in SG (wholesale or online)….. 😁😁
@@90taetaeya The transport fare in many (Western) European Cities are 3 times or more than that of SG…. So there is still room for SG to increase fare. As for Low income earners there are subsidies for them.
Nice place Singapore but apparently difficult for brown-skinned Indians to be accepted as tenants. So, coming from SA all this must seem familiar though I hope not reassuring too!
Talking about customer service...yes to some extent. Especially in the retail sectors..more towards the average retail stores...still in progress for getting better..here may not be that efficient 😁😅 On your safe entry staffs at malls...are rather demanding and taxing..really not in the mood and energy..imagine greeting 10 of thousands of shoppers..will make u go crazy and lost of voice...in a 5days work basis for the very least..😁😁
Singapore is not hot until you experience summer in Australia at 40 degree celsius. Singapore is only humid, I would not consider as extremely hot. Pro is you get to swim outdoor all year round.
Haha com'on. There is relief the moment you hop onto a bus, step into the MRT station, shopping malls, office building or your home. Singapore is an air condition nation. 😃
Food connect people and that connected Mari, thanks for complimentary about Singapore. Rules is always broken by "sovereignty" Mindset of people, and you break it, is bye bye , there is so many cases nowadays especially during pandemic
when you do go back to South Africa after the pandemic, please buy that 4sgd wine and enjoy it, sipping slowly and let your mind flow,. thinking how lucky you are not having to pay 22sgd for it. Hahahaha
Coming from a foreigner's perspective, you seem to be so grateful for all pros of staying in Singapore which most us Singaporeans take for granted.
Thank you Mari, looking forward to all your videos every Friday. I am a South African, might move to SG soon. Your videos really give an insight of what one should expect.
You’re too kind Sindi. Thank you🥰 I’m glad you enjoy my videos… all the best with the plans of moving!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🎉

Yes, Singapore is always hot and humid, it's like heaven when you walk into a luxurious shopping center filled with cool air.

Wow, so few cons compare to pros of staying in Singapore. We are indeed so blessed 🥰
Greetings from Hong Kong neighbor. Singapore love it I been 3 times it's very close. Hope to move there.

In Singapore, it is never a local culture to say hi to strangers (including cashiers). It is not that the locals are rude. It is the way it is.

if they blank stare I say Hello a little louder for them haha😋😂
If your pay sucks and you don't know how to upgrade your standard of living, you wouldn't have the enthusiasm of life.
When i was in Australia for my study, i missed the food more than my family 🤣

Mari, i heard your first six words and thought "you sound South African". 😁 Thank you for the video.
😍😍😍
Try getting a housing and car in Singapore.😋
💜💜💜
Are you gonna settle in Singapore
it is always a possibility... we will see if Singapore will have me for that long 😁
Oh yes our public transport in South Africa is a MMMMMEEEEEESSSSS...
😂😂😂😂 agreeeeeeee!!!
Superb
Thanks 🤗
Singapore public transportation fare is low because many of the drivers are foreigners, thus lowering the cost. You should be selling South African Wines in SG (wholesale or online)….. 😁😁
Actually no, it is cheap as transport is subsidised by the govt. the average driver earns $2.5k which is 25% above the national average.
hahaha it will still be expensive!
@@90taetaeya The transport fare in many (Western) European Cities are 3 times or more than that of SG…. So there is still room for SG to increase fare. As for Low income earners there are subsidies for them.

True I don’t expect them to greet back when there are massive crowds but I don’t go out during peak times.😔

The problem is there is no relief from the constant heat day in day out for the rest of eternity.
