I have a soft spot for this place as I learned to play guitar there. I used to live there about 50 years ago. I revisited - maybe 3 years ago and it's a little too conventional nowadays with lots of rules. It used to have an exotic and slightly dangerous feel to it. I found it not too expensive because I ate and drank in local places like Zam Zams Indian restaurant - still there from when I lived there. If I could find somewhere where they still play electric guitars I would go back.

I'm Singaporean and I don't know where is this fast paced came from lol! Our walking pace maybe, or our escalators? But other than that it's manageable. You still get to do what you do for hobbies etc.

Agreed! Sgp is not fast-paced at all. For a major international city, it is very moderately paced. London/NYC/HK all much more fast paced. It's also reflective on the fact that the MRT is not that busy compared to other metro systems in big cities, and its acceptable to wear sandals and shorts in most places.

1500-3000 for rent? completely wrong, you may get 1500 if you share an HDB with others, but as a single person, who doesnt want to share, a condo would cost anywhere between 2.5-5 k. Also if you plan to live in sgp long term, PR is important as without you essentially get none of the key benefits related to healthcare, superannuation and housing (which is the big one as 60% is the stamp duty on most foreigners).
