I have found that if I try to live like a Singaporean when I'm overseas it tends to be more expensive. When I was in North America, convenience food would be Mac and Cheese or Kraft Dinner which was VERY affordable. But try to get Kraft Dinner in Singapore, and it is not worth the price. So try the local versions to replace Australian's stuff. e.g. Polar (Cafe?) Chicken Pie is only $3. I understand bubble tea here is cheaper than the US. Not sure if cheaper than Australia. And yes, all our produce are imported. Anyone who tries to sell you "local farm produce" is a liar. (There are some "artisanal" farms in Choa Chu Kang...). Here, you may want to adapt to local practices. If you live alone or with just one or two others (not counting your dogs), it's almost not worth cooking, when hawker centres are so accessible and affordable. The amount of time spent on food preparation, cooking, then cleaning up, when you can hop down to the nearest hawker centre or coffee shop and grab dinner, and be done in 30 minutes means that eating out is more frequent for Singaporeans. If you treat hawker centres and coffee shops as "central kitchens" or "dining rooms", you save time and effort instead of cooking at home. And you can see that locals do that (treat eateries as an extension of their "dining room") by their dressing - some go in what seems to be their sleepwear! (IOW, we don't dress up to go out, not if it is just to the nearby coffee shop).
Try the Glass House at Chijmes, stumbled upon in when I was in Singapore earlier this year - really nice coffee thanks for the video, hope you enjoy your time there!
@@angelexploringlocal Singaporean coffee is highly customizable. If you were to just order coffee, it would usually be too sweet for western taste buds cos it would include condensed milk and sugar. If you want it less sweet, go with evaporated milk and less or no sugar.
sg hot weather is around 32-34degree....but australia can reach 40 degree above...few years back in the city is 44 degree if i am not wrong...how u survive then 😁😁😁😁😁😁
It’s seasonal , majority of the year is cooler. Issue with Singapore is the humidity follows you every where even under shade and this is most of the year around .
Middle of each year Thailand and Vietnam could/can be even more hotter temperature than in Singapore weather. In Singapore temperature seldom reached 40 degree, average usually highest was about 35 degree
I'm an Australian interested in moving to Singapore too! Loving your journey so far.

Singapore is the safest city in Asia.
Australia is very relaxed. Singapore is a pressure cooker
The Frenchies are so cute

Haha Australia definitely gets hotter during Summer! During those times, we’ll stay indoors or head to the beach in the evening :)

If I am very rich, I prefer to live in Sg. Very stressful place to live, so I need to be very rich
Australia is good for me as I dislike pressure
