Hi Mari, You know the best part is you enjoy staying here and at the same time you are able to contribute to Singapore society. That is something you should be happy of.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for contributing to the education sector in SG! Good to know you feel that you are making a change and impacting students. .. And ok, I just subscribed to your channel. :-)
I am glad to hear that u listed safety as no. 1 reason in my country. Having said that, u still need to stay vigilant even though the violent crime rate is very low. 🙂
U made the right choice. SG is top3 or top5 in most stuffs from gdp to safety to education for ur kids etc. Food can b cheap too. N like u said in ur previous vids u dont need a car as transportation is v efficient n u can travel to all over asia n australia as its near n our currency is strong. Weather wise theres AC. Happy national day mari😀
Hello mari Started watching u yesterday lo Great vid Yes singapore opening to social culture activities. A friend of mine was in SA and the safest we felt was when was the the great white in the ocean lol. Enjoy singapore . eat well
Hi Mari .. I was lucky to be living in South Africa ( Capetown , Campsbay) for 3 years .. love it .. other than the safety aspect .. my family enjoyed our stay .. lovely beaches , golf courses , nice weather ( when Cape wind not blowing) it was an amazing experience 💖
Welcome to Singapore, and yes in Singapore many people and ladies are even sleeping and camping in beaches at night overnight and Singapore's food is a mix of so many cultures as well haha the famous loti prata, Singapore is a food kingdom, cheers
You are so funny...but all your points are spot on. I live in Canada, and I hate winter....2 weeks of it is enough for me, especially as one gets older. As you said, the snow turns to dirty slush when temperature rises, and everywhere is wet, dirty and slushy. Not good in COVID19 times. Plus it is BONE CHILLING cold in winter! And 6 to 7 months of it! Anyway, like your content and particularly your bubbly nature. Subscribed to your channel 1-2 years ago, but you disappeared right after! Glad you are back..yes, I heard your reasons.
As an expat myself living in Singapore for 5+ years, I slowly started to feel insecure as the job priority is shifting to locals day by day and not getting PR as well. So in couple of years the expats situation will be worse and hence most of us will be moving out eventually...Btw Singapore is the best in safety and food of course and my career had seen its peak right here.
I'm surprised that you haven't got your PR after 5 years... My Malaysian colleague got it within 1 year of working here.... I guess your company is not supporting you in this matter.
Miss, thanks for letting other countries know about Singapore. Singapore ,was just a small island. Everyone, here treated the same, there no color skin . Government, here law by law. We, always welcome Foreigner here :)
No where is perfect but it’s good to know we could allow people, not least you, to feel at safe, comfortable, and home. People like yourself, enrich us too. Apologies, I’m one of those people who enjoy social media but don’t want to be tied down (subscribed) and/or addicted.
Three things I know about Singapore: 1. It is a rich country. 2. It's got a wonderful Airport. 3. It's a country where chewing gum is banned. Btw Simple and Straightforward explanation 😊
As a South African who has been living in Europe for the past 5 years, I can definitely agree on a better quality of life overall. However, it does not matter whether you are male or female, you live in constant anxiety about personal safety. I will never go back.
Agree… it’s not just for females.. I’m just sharing from my point. It’s so sad that such a beautiful country causes so much sadness😢😢😢 Where in Europe are you based?
You love the -40 deg C in Sweden? Wow! My ex rather live in Singapore. He said that once their country men move out of Sweden, they never move back. 😉 My ex mother-in-law had her aching pain in her joints healed when she came here long ago.
@@intheworldofmari Yep, the first line of the SG national anthem is mari kita rakyat Singapura or Come, fellow Singaporeans. But mari kita is also slang for erection, drawing analogy to the first line of the national anthem and the daily flag raising & national anthem singing ceremony in schools.
We still lock our doors and never leave our expensive things out in the open 😜 It's just common sense. Don't temp temptation. 🤣 Low Crime doesn't mean No Crime (popular mantra from the Singapore Police). Tissue paper is next to worthless, so people just put on the table to chope places at hawker centres 😜 Weather - locals may have a different opinion 😂😂 Personally I always escape to a cold country for a vacation back when we could still travel.
Yes Low crime doesn’t mean no crime… but I have never felt safer!🙏🏻 I do enjoy going on a winter holiday where I can choose how long I want to be in the cold for 😂😂 but I haven’t experienced winter in over 3 years now!! 😂
One day I woke up, realising my door and grilles (door) are not locked... omg.... I think it should be okay because I survived lol... shit So I went to check my money but luckily Things r okay.. house still as messy, not more messy than it is.🤣
Experience winter/snow for a short period is wonderful but not throughout for months. Feeling moody and high committed suicide rate happen in cold Winter. If you longing to stay in cold winter area, please accept the super hot summer period too... 🤣
No Mari, don't take Singapore's safety for granted. Low crime does not mean no crime. Pls still do look over your shoulders. I'm a born and bred Singaporean woman. I still take extra care whenever I travel alone. And I do my best not to travel alone at night. Stay safe.
Of course Low crime doesn’t mean no crime but the crime is so Low that it almost feels like no 😁 always cautious as it’s ingrained in me being from South Africa
Hmmm, i'm not so sure about the friendly part, i know they are not angry most of the time that's for sure 😛 but customer service wise, we're kind of terrible but i think it's cos of our culture to generally not speak up most of the time. Many years ago (i don't think they do that now) some shop assistance or the shopkeeper actually follow you around, even in a shop space of 5m x 5m size 🤣 and you keep having to tell them you'll look around yourself. I actually feel that Singapore is still not safe enough, so i'm glad we're having 200, 000 cameras soon 🤣
Haha Singaporeans to tend to keep to themselves mostly but the times that I have reached out and took the step to 'break the ice' - most people have been quite warm and welcoming :) Customer Service is another story hahaha
Singapore is great.... But i think Japan is the best ❤ and the people there too... Their manners and habits are not from this world... We definitely don't deserve Japan and the Japanese people... God bless their beautiful souls...❤
So, you're originally from South Africa? Ok, I'm curious. Clearly, you are Caucasian but of which decent, exactly? I have a friend from S. Africa & he ever spoke in Afrikaans. And it sounded pretty Dutch-esque to me but here's the thing: his lineage goes way back to England! Pardon me since before you & him, the only South African that Singaporeans know well is Wendy Jacobs, wife of Singaporean soccer legend Fandi Ahmad. Her heritage is anyone's guess but she's living proof that S. Africa is a melting-pot of cultures, contrary to what History otherwise strongly suggests. I'm guessing... you are of English decent?
South Africa is indeed a melting pot of cultures and we known as 'The Rainbow Nation' To understand our history one will need a whole lesson on it as it is so complex... But to answer your question in short - I am a mix of European descents - French, Scottish, Dutch etc. and some Bangladesh as well actually.
@@intheworldofmari 'Rainbow Nation' - an apt monicker... ;^) Considering just how diverse your heritage is, thanks for sharing! Honestly? I can relate to that. And in true blue Singaporean style their response was: "Wah. So complicated. Nevermind. You are Malay, ok?" Hahaha........wrong! Singapore is safe yes, but no other country is safer? China is safer even compared to Singapore. Try it, go live in the Middle Kingdom and compare. For such a huge country compared to a mere red dot what is there to say? Any comparison will simply be flawed hehehe.......
I didn't say there is no other country that is safer... From all the countries I have lived in and that tick all the boxes for me in terms of living in - it definitely is.
