Halloween 2, 1981, is in my opinion 100% the better film out of these two! My mom was always super cool and bought me Halloween 2, 1981 on VHS second hand at a clothing store which no longer exists haha. I still own it 😎 💪
3:53 You omit one key detail, Warlock was wearing the Myers Mask while he stared at Rick Rosenthal. 11:11 I don't like Joe Rogan either, but why is his being bald relevant, seems like bald-shaming. 15:30 As for the Carpenter/Zombie feud: a more nuanced explanation is that they are both right. It's conceivable that John Carpenter used supportive words to Rob Zombie but delivered them in his cold dismissive cranky old man tone. Tone delivery can greatly qualify a statement. Also if you've seen more recent interviews with John Carpenter, he can be very short and curt with the interviewer, so it's believable that he would act that way with Zombie as well. H2'81 is shot well and well-crafted on a technical level, but as a story it's mostly a stillborn. The whole movie, bridging off from H1, feels like its on a pause while the main character is out of commission confined to a hospital bed. They attempt to makeup the difference with additional kills to pad the runtime before they finally recommence the Laurie and Michael cat and mouse chase. This is all a product of the movie having no purpose at inception. John Carpenter in a documentary: Halloween A Cut Above the Rest, in reference to his involvement with H281 said "We're remaking the same film, only not as good." As for Rob Zombie's H2, it's interesting but with mixed results. I like all the Myers portions, including the surrealism, the dream-like ghost mom, and the white horse. But PTSD Laurie Strode is borderline unbearable as a character. I understand they were going for a realistic depiction of PTSD but that doesn't mean that it is fun or enjoyable to watch on screen.
Not gonna lie, whenever I want to watch the Halloween films, Rob Zombie's installments are the ones I usually go to first. Especially his take on the second film, just because he had the balls to try something different with the characters.
I could see wanting to revisit them more simply because the story is so contained, only two movies, so much less mess involved with the timelines and whatnot
I don’t like either of Zombie’s “Halloween” films, but this comparison made me look at a few things about RZH2 in a slightly more favorable light, and I appreciate that. Great work on the video. 🎃
RZH2 is my favorite movie in the Halloween Franchise. It's the one I watch the most. The bleakness, the brutality, Corporate Loomis, dirty hippie Michael - it's a different thing compared to any of the other films. I even can get behind Nights in White Satin and the white horse. Great kills - esp the guy who played Porky. I even like the Weird Al scene. H281 is good but so slow and doesn't measure up. Great vid HH...
Can we talk about how crazy good the aesthetic of Laurie’s blood drenched Rocky Horror costume in RZH2 during the final 2 acts is!! It should be classed as iconic lol awesome video btw, I personally love RZH2 so I’m glad you were able to have a better appreciation this time round 😅
Halloween 2 (81) is the better film both for nostalgic reasons and it genuinely gives me a claustrophobic fear with it being set in an empty hospital. You can easily watch the original and the second one as one full story without having to worry about expanding timelines and remakes. Also, the way the mask looks different with Warlock it makes it look creepier to me.

I personally never saw rob zombies Halloween films but based on your review you don’t like the movie I do know how dangerous Michael is but Halloween 2 is better you can’t beat the originals
As Much As I Give Absolute Hilarity On The Original Halloween 2, Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 Was A Literal *What In The Actual Fuck* Kind Of Movie Between That Crappy Ending, The Deep Psychological Myers Mom Visions With The White Horse(Which Made No Sense) Between Laurie & Michael Somehow To Laurie Being Annoyingly Bonkers, Crying, Screaming & Whining All The Time To Pretty Much Everyone. Halloween 2 1981 way better NO comparison period. 1981 H is a classic than rob zombie Halloween 2 but if I had to choose between Halloween ends VS Rob zombie Halloween 2 I'm then and only then I'll choose rob zombie Halloween 2 😂 😂 😂 because Halloween ends was that terrible.

During Fear Fest on AMC I have very seldom seen Halloween 2 1981. It’s probably a coincidence to the timing on my end but I always only see Halloween 1, 4, 5, 6, & H20. 3 I see here and there.
Rob Zombie expands on making Halloween 1/2 remakes on the full moon freakshow podcast. In that he explains in more detail what it was like working with Bob Weinstein and how much of a piece of shit douche bag that guy was! Both Weinsteins are pretty much the personifications of evil in my book, one is just outed and the other hasn't been caught. Love the reviews and presentation
Another gnarly comparison as always. I'll say H2 1981 was probably one of the first horror movies I ever saw and it's easily one of my favs throughout the franchise. Watched it so much as a nugget even though I was terrified lol
I absolutely hated RZ's version of Laurie. I feel he was basing Laurie and Annie on his friends or fans. He kind of made them niche characters that most people like me couldn't identify with.
I only subscribed yesterday, after watching your Exorcist Believer video, but “Rob Zombie said “Uno Reverse!”” makes me know I made the right decision. Love this videos!
I strongly prefer Halloween II (1981). But hey as far as your opinion goes, I'll take a tie. By the way I love your personality and you had me in your latest video during your mention of Jim Carrey's The Grinch.
I love the original Halloween 2 my 2nd favorite Halloween movie but I also like rob zombies Halloween 2 and I think people are to harsh on it I also love how he did his own thing and didn’t completely copy Halloween 2 like he did in his first remake after the child micheal part
81 of course. RZ part 2 is horrible. 81 is one of my favorite horror films. And one of the most rewatchable films I know. The atmosphere and suspense is only surpassed by Carpenter's original.
Despite people like John Carpenter critically crapping on the original Halloween 2 it will always be my favorite in the franchise. I suppose much of the reason for this one being my favorite is nostalgia because I saw the film opening night in the theater back in 1981. The fact that it directly picks up on the same night of the original and feels like one long continuous film is cool imo. Somone really needs to make a new fan edit fusing the two films together into one long 3-hour movie.
Zombie should've never rebooted Halloween. Everything else he's done is fukkin' great! 31, Lords of Salem, (which is visionary) 1000 Corpses trilogy...all great. But his Halloween reboot, I wasted 4 hours of my life watching those 2
I’m 25, you had me till you called Joe Rogan “alpha brained, anti-vax.” You clearly have never listened to his show. I love your videos but as someone the same age as you, it’s annoying when people our age throw in whatever left-wing thing they read into a video/conversation that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. It’s something everyone our age does that’s a left-winger. Let’s just enjoy the video, it’s just a word of advice. You might lose subscribers eventually throwing out left-wing talking in a number of videos cuz it is a major turn off when listening to your videos. Still love the videos hate hearing “anti-vax, late-stage capitalism, etc” in your videos. I’m here for HORROR
RZ Halloween 2 has the best designed version of Michael, his mask and jacket are both awesome, I love his Moms ghost witch aesthetic and I love Laurie wearing Michael’s mask at the end, aesthetically 2009 Halloween 2 is the best Halloween.
1981 is better. Hell, 1981 might be the best film in the franchise. The problem. With RZ2 is the moronic white horse visions. They ruin the movie completely.
I give the edge to the 1981 film because of that stupid white horse BS in the 2009 version. Like you, I enjoyed the 2009 version more after a rewatch, but I still prefer the 1981 film.
HALLOWEEN 2 (2009) is a masterpiece to me my Opinion I don't really like the original Halloween 78 or Halloween 2 1981 they are kinda slow and boring I don't really like robs first Halloween but his 2nd my favorite out of the whole franchise
Halloween 2 1989 👍❤️ . Rob Zombie Great Mask but the Movie Was So Annoying Very Bad Film. He Should Just move on in His Singing career . As a director he Sucks
I also heard in an interview with Zombie on Howie Mandel’s podcast where he said working with the Weinsteins was such a shitshow, that he only agreed to direct 2 only if they cut him lose from directing a part 3
Also, comparing the sister relationship in both films, you have to remember that in 1981 it wasn't known Laurie was Michael's sister 'til the second act break in the film. It was the time of "Luke, I am your father" era. So, just pointing out that it was a mystery why Myers was still going after Laurie 'til Nancy Stephens told Donald Pleasance about the sealed confidential files in the back of the Trooper's car.
There are so many issues with RZ H2 but I have always loved it (except the ending in the directors cut) I feel like it’s rare for horror to tackle the ptsd side of experiencing such a traumatic event, it was refreshing to see the survivor struggling after the experience rather than living a successful new life or becoming some bad ass that’s prepping for the rematch, I love how the original H2 takes place during the same night as the first but it feels more like them stretching out a small final confrontation with Laurie drugged and Micheal walking around slowly making his way to her which kinda doesn’t fit since he tracks her down faster in the first movie and then just slowly stalks her, here he slowly tracks her down then immediately goes for her. I’d pick RZ H2 over the original H2
I've always been a big fan on Rob Zombie films. Naturally, that makes me give the edge to RZ's H2. The OG H2 is a good film, but I feel like it's weaker than the first movie in the series. The plan to make Halloween an anthology series makes the second movie feel slightly forced in my opinion. Now obviously the series went on to become something very iconic and a mainstay in pop culture as a whole and not just a popular series among horror fans. However, I feel like the first movie would have been more impactful if it just ended with Michael disappearing and have it left up in the air as to what happened after the events of the movie. The second movie was mostly made due to fan reception being very good which led to the studio seeing dollar signs in their eyes based on that fan reception. In reality the OG Halloween is an objectively better film, but personally I love RZ's H2 because I have a bias towards RZ's Hellbilly style. RZ makes really FUN horror movies and sometimes horror isn't all about the scares, it's about the fun. I'm extremely hard to scare, so for me personally, fun horror movies are much more enjoyable than ones meant to scare. Some of my all time favourite series are SAW, Firefly Trilogy, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Evil Dead, Childs Play (including TV Series) and Resident Evil. Obviously some of those series are objectively bad and had poor reception, but I love them because they're just dumb FUN. Over the top gore, comedy and a good mix of suspense & action are just more fun for me than a pure horror movie.
Rob Zombie Halloween 2 could honestly be one of the worst movies I’ve seen. At least on “B” rated movies it’s cheesy and intentional. The movies plot is empty. Characters are forgettable. Nothing to be scared of or he’ll cheer for. Then Michael has no mask, talks and it’s a mess. He’s in a strip club. It’s just terrible
Comedy in horror is great…..but it could also be a detriment when it diffuses the tension too quickly. Like the new IT movies for example. Something terrifying and traumatic will happen to a character, then immediately gets followed up with something comedic. I still like the movies. But it’s not “scary”. Nothing stayed in my mind after watching them.
I love rob zombies one and two Halloween they are my favorite because they are just amazing to me and I really love Annie death it’s emotional and beautiful and really sad but it’s such one of the best death I really love it I love the sequel to the original Halloween but I just really love and enjoy rob zombies Halloween one and two I love that Michael is taller stronger and bigger I wish they mad more I love you
idk if i did tell u or not if i did sry the channel u watched the 4 and 1/2 making of documentary off of made 2 amazing feature length fan cuts of the remakes they are both great improvements over the theatrical versions.
You should definitely check out RZ's 31. I doubt you'd like it, but I'd love to hear your opinion on it and it might give some more exposure to, in my opinion, one of RZ's most underrated horror flicks.
It really just depends what you feeling if you want a slasher you will like 81 more but if you like a slasher/physiological film you want like 09, to be honest like 09 more cause even though I don’t like zombies writing he did something different which recent trilogy tried to duplicate which was making more physiological and I felt for the first time we really saw the trauma Myers left on his first victim. And I felt like it was the first time we got to explore Myers physiological state of mind which the new trilogy tired to do in ends but kinda failed compared to zombie
What if I told you my takeaway from Dahmer was that it shed more light on the victims and injustices of the time period than possibly would've ever happened in many other teachable settings, and on a large enough scale to make an impact on our conscience. Idk, I also read some articles talking about the creators actually trying to contact most of the victims as well. I don't feel like the show glamorized or fetishized anything, and even though the families of the victims may not have wanted the show to exist, I think the show truly did an amazing job of showing the audience how special almost all of them were and instead of remember Dahmer as one of the most famous serial killers remember the injustices and the dangers that young adults were less educated on at the time, so we can use it as a positive for the future. If this is a selfish or insensitive take then I truly apologize. Edit: I did watch the whole video, and I thought it was a great comparison btw. H2 original wins for me. I saw it as a youngish (33 now) and it scared the crap out of me. Hospitals were scary as hell for awhile after lol.
No thanks for sharing! That is a really positive thing that I hope more people take from the show. Unfortunately I’ve just seen more of the negative effects like people wishing there was more graphic violence in the show, the victims being retraumatized, people dressing up as Dahmer for Halloween, etc
I love horror stuff, but Dahmer? Leave that docuseries in the trash where it belongs. I don't even know why it was made other than for Netflix to make bank for the next few months or so as it trends, and as true crime as a genre itself flourishes. Things like that just shouldn't be made, but they will continue to be. It's the most corporately made exclusive thing I've seen in a bit
rob zombie's halloween 2 irritated the crap out of me with all the screaming laurie did, i was yelling at the tv "shut the hell up you're giving me a damn migraine" to sheri moon zombie coming in looking like the living dead girl video. i had faith the movie could be good, very little faith that is, but watching it i kept saying oh my god what did i get myself into, multiple times and when the movie was over i turned off the tv and was grouchier than before lol
I watched Rob Zombies Halloween and Halloween 2 recently, and I really enjoyed both of them. When watching them, I watched them in isolation as if I had never seen the original Halloween movies. I watched them for what they are, which made the movies so much better. Comparing them to the originals are always going to divide opinion, especially when they have cult status! Thanks for the vids!
Great video. As someone who likes H81 minus the brother sister shit, i really hate that, I think Robs version did a better job with the brother sister plot line. Especially in his H2. It's a really nice character study of her after the shit she went through. I still hate the film and most of this franchise but credit where credit is due. If the whole films was just Laurie and that's it I would have liked it more. Which brings me to my next point. Robs Halloween 3 was apparently going to be mostly Laurie in a hospital and a character study of her in there after all the trauma and her trying to recover. And Michael coming to finish Killing her is a main plot line but it becomes apparent by us the audience that, that might not be the case and Laurie is either imaging Micheal killing everyone or it's indeed Laurie actually killing everyone. And this notion of evil or mental illness moving from one to another is subtext throughout the film as well. I honestly would have loved that and it really sucks Rob never went through with this. I like the sound of that film. Scouts Laurie was the only thing I liked about his H2 so that's probably why I would have like this film. Shame it wasn't made.
Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN II blew me away…today just like the first day. Unlike the predecessor we get a real Rob Zombie movie here! I love the dirty look, the desolation, the brutality. I also definitely prefer the Director's Cut, which works out much better how physically and mentally broken the survivors of the predecessor are. Add to that the surreal dream sequences and vision of Michael and the more consistent ending. I love this movie! Rob Zombie unmasks Michael Myers and, in my opinion, creates his personal masterpiece!
For the past decade, my love for Halloween II (1981) has lowered but still appreciate it while my love for RZ Halloween II is still nonexistent to this day. The only positives I can say for RZ Halloween II are Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris, and the cinematography but everything else I’m not a fan of 1981 >>>>>>> 2009
Just discovered your channel. And subscribed after that burp. A horror girl who is real about horror and still keeps the burp in the edit. Yes please!!!
Over the years, I've really come to appreciate 2009 H2. To add to your comparisons...Brad Dourif's Sheriff Bracket is miles above and away better than our original sheriff. The scene where he finds Annie makes me teary eyed every single time. Honestly it depends on my mood for these two. If I want a fun slasher, I'm going for 1981. If I want something darker and more brutal, I'm going for 2009 H2. I think it was his better film between the two and when I rank RZ movies, H2 is 3rd behind Devils Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses. Its not the abomination everyone wants it to be.
In my opinion Halloween 2 is miles better than RZH2. I respect Rob Zombie for trying something different but it didn't work for me. Glad some enjoy it but I'm sadly not one of those people and I've given it many chances
Halloween 2, 1981, is in my opinion 100% the better film out of these two! My mom was always super cool and bought me Halloween 2, 1981 on VHS second hand at a clothing store which no longer exists haha. I still own it 😎 💪

Thanks for the video, been waiting for this. Also love the pouring, drinking and burping montage lmfao. I'm excited to see how this one plays out.
I’ve gotta say out of every RZ film, his Halloweens were his best. Dunno if that is saying much about RZ lol
These videos are amazing. It's just interesting to hear about anything horror and behind the scenes.
couldn't agree more, thanks!
Art the clown is finally a new slasher. Art is killing it no pun intended. No CGI Art will be a Life changer to real horror fans.

i got into 2009 Loomis a lot more this watching back this year, since i heard Zombie based him off Vincent Bugliosi, that made a lot of sense
That’s very interesting…I liked Bugliosis books but he always bragged about his books being best sellers lol
Hey, Joe Rogan’s a treasure
I think 2009 was a relief. We were able to experience something new vs Michael Myers just killing folks volume 30.
I love Joe Rogan

In that he explains in more detail what it was like working with Bob Weinstein and how much of a piece of shit douche bag that guy was! Both Weinsteins are pretty much the personifications of evil in my book, one is just outed and the other hasn't been caught.
Love the reviews and presentation
Patiently waiting for Bob’s reckoning tbh
Halloween 2 1981 was so good movie
Some burp!!!!!!!😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Another gnarly comparison as always. I'll say H2 1981 was probably one of the first horror movies I ever saw and it's easily one of my favs throughout the franchise. Watched it so much as a nugget even though I was terrified lol
Me too bro. 👍
I absolutely hated RZ's version of Laurie.
I feel he was basing Laurie and Annie on his friends or fans.
He kind of made them niche characters that most people like me couldn't identify with.
Well said buddy !
1981 only. I just can’t with the RZ movies. The hospital setting was dark and eerie. The best movie since part 6.
Like Comparing a Gold Bar to a Piece of Dog crap that been sitting in sun for 2 weeks
Well Dick Warlock was staring at Rosenthal, while wearing Michael's Mask!
Halloween 2 1981 is a million times better and RZH2 is the worst in the franchise!
I never got around to Rob Zombies Halloween 2. I wasn’t a fan of his first one, so I skipped it.
It can’t be worse than Halloween Kills….can it????
Always got to watch og Halloween 1 and 2 as a double feature. Just like Halloween 2018 and Halloween kills
I never really seen a director retconn his own film in a sequel life RZ H. Super strange.... In a bad way.
Seems like the reviews for the 80's version are all post 2000 though? Am I misunderstanding that?
I love rob zombies one and two Halloween they are my favorite because they are just amazing to me and I really love Annie death it’s emotional and beautiful and really sad but it’s such one of the best death I really love it I love the sequel to the original Halloween but I just really love and enjoy rob zombies Halloween one and two I love that Michael is taller stronger and bigger I wish they mad more I love you
Beautiful as always 😍
idk if i did tell u or not if i did sry the channel u watched the 4 and 1/2 making of documentary off of made 2 amazing feature length fan cuts of the remakes they are both great improvements over the theatrical versions.
Rob zombies take of Haloween is just ultraviolent for the sake of ultraviolence
I believe an 80’s verse a 2000 movie no comparison… can’t copy a original sorry… the creepy music and the story line was awesome. 🎉
Taking the opinion of someone drinking white claw is like betting on a special olympian to win the Boston marathon.... I said what I said.
So I just rewatched RZ H2. It's really isn't bad if you take all his wife and horse scenes out.
The remake wasn’t good. It was low how exciting the first film had.
Another awesome video!!
rob zombie's halloween 2 irritated the crap out of me with all the screaming laurie did, i was yelling at the tv "shut the hell up you're giving me a damn migraine" to sheri moon zombie coming in looking like the living dead girl video. i had faith the movie could be good, very little faith that is, but watching it i kept saying oh my god what did i get myself into, multiple times and when the movie was over i turned off the tv and was grouchier than before lol
Stumbled upon this channel but I love it! She's great and can tell she really loves the movies she talks about.
ur aweome, i found ur channel in 2019. Im glad we're friends
As long as we can all agree that Dragula is a total banger, I think we'll be able to survive and thrive as a community.
Imagine all the wasted potential rzh2 could be. I get mad everytime i think of it
I watched Rob Zombies Halloween and Halloween 2 recently, and I really enjoyed both of them.
When watching them, I watched them in isolation as if I had never seen the original Halloween movies. I watched them for what they are, which made the movies so much better.
Comparing them to the originals are always going to divide opinion, especially when they have cult status! Thanks for the vids!
Can’t stop watching you talk so in depth about Halloween films across the board!
And the winner of the most amazing human goes too Haunted Hippie!👑💎
Halloween 2 zombie is always my least favorite out of all the Halloween films
Shame it wasn't made.
that would've been super interesting!
not gonna lie, watching rz halloween 2 is easier than watching a minute of this hairy animal burping in my ears
The only positives I can say for RZ Halloween II are Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris, and the cinematography but everything else I’m not a fan of
1981 >>>>>>> 2009
“One is something”: The House of 1,000 Corpses
“Two always seems to be the better film”: The Devil’s Rejects
“Three never works”: 3 From Hell
Have yet to see those
@@HauntedHippie Give them a gander.
Just discovered your channel. And subscribed after that burp. A horror girl who is real about horror and still keeps the burp in the edit. Yes please!!!
if you watch cole edits version of this movie so much different
I realized I should’ve touched on sheriff bracket, I love their whole dynamic during mealtime so much. My favorite scenes of the movie probably
In my opinion Halloween 2 is miles better than RZH2. I respect Rob Zombie for trying something different but it didn't work for me. Glad some enjoy it but I'm sadly not one of those people and I've given it many chances
