I'm about to do mine and have bought a continuous diamond blade for my angle grinder so only straight cuts needed ..will make sure slow speed ,light pressure and relief cuts at each end and alow to cool down ...
@@davidlavelle8653 hi dave yeh went great just take your time and go slow. I put mine on a sheet of ply to help keep the slabs flat .also cut about 3 inches in fom either side to relieve stress.
How do you avoid chipping the surface when cutting 20mm porcelain? I’m using a nine inch Makita angle grinder so it’s not a wet cut and although it’s cutting through ok, the edge is chipping in places. How do I avoid this?
Hi, you can apply a piece of tape, mark your line over the tape and it should be a fairly clean edge, you can also get your helper to hold a water bottle with a hole on the cap and have them run the water on the blade and tile for a very clean edge, if all that fails I would just grab a smaller grinder with a Diamond wheel and carefully run it over the edge so it can hide those chips
My Husky paddy with porcelain blade does the same. They’re black slabs so I mask up with 3” duck tape so I can see my marks. Even with water it still chips. I then used a wet tile disc cutter. Still chips. I wonder if it’s the slabs
Hi, there are so many different blades on the market. For me personally I use the Abracs range of blades or Pulvex. Both company's can be found online. Remember to keep the blade dressed. This means cleaning all the slurry that settles in the diamonds on the blade. You may think you need a new blade when really it just needs a clean. Mark.
What I did to keep the blade cool . I ran an air compressor to blow cold air on the blade and keep the dust off my lines. Not brilliant but it does help save the slab and blade. When cutting out for man holes ect . I cut best I can from the top and then turn the slab over to finish the cut . Save alot of cleaning up of the cuts .
Hi… Great video… I’m about to make a choice for my back garden with the Porcelain or New Grange Granite… I’d be afraid the porcelain may be slippy… Could you advise me on which to go for … many thanks
Sorry using a stihl saw will not give you a nice straight clean cut. To much vibration wet cutter or 4-5" grinder with a proper thin cutting disc and get someone to lightly spray it with water and then sanding disc to buff the edge
I cracked two porcelain pavers because I wasn't putting in my stress relieving cuts first. Thanks for this video!

Mate I had the exact same issue. Makita angle grinder on 20mm tile and still leaving chip marks

Ox 4” blade on a 4” grinder. No chips and cuts perfect. Been in the trade over 30 years. Trust me 👍🏼
Do you cut face up or face down?
I.e blade to topside or underside?
What would you advise for curves up to say snake like stone walls?
Great video, just what I needed
Good video.
What brand blade would you recommend please?
I'll be hiring a petrol cutter with water tank
Thanks 👍
Hi what blade to use for 20mm porcelain using Stihl saw for no chips

great simple explanation

professional job!
Dare I suggest an air powered angle grinder, as you could then run coolin water over the job?
please tell what 14" blade you were using?
That's a 410 saw so it's 12" babe 420 is 14"
