This vid is AWESOME -- I've taken a variety of barre classes at studios by different instructors, and this is a perfect at-home replica of the best of them. Thank you!!!!
I was so sad to move away from Baltimore and the kickass Inline Studio, but this video with Katie was a great refresher! If you're in Baltimore, make sure to check out Katie and the rest of the awesome Inline team!!
Lisa Buckle so good to hear. I'm 25 weeks and there just aren't enough good prenatal workouts in the abyss of RUclips so I'm going to attempt this with many modifications I assume. Thanks for the reassurance.
Super crazy instructor....She changes excersizes so quickly like she is playing a video game! Even girl on the left asked her to slow down...But still instructor is on fire!
Burned my quads beyond imagination... really! I did not expect a barre workout to be so painful! Thank you for making my first experience in barre a positive one!
I did this workout video for the first time today and loved it. I was sweating so much!! I'm starting to enjoy barre workouts, its much more rewarding and I get more results; compare to jumping all over the place. I'm hoping to get addicted!! Thanks!!
I actually love this workout best I have done by far been a dancer and having to stay in the best fitness to improve this video really helps so intense and feeling the burn but thank you so much
Thanks for the comment - glad you enjoyed the video! This video was one of a 6 week workout series. This is the only barre workout, you can check out the other videos in the series here: ruclips.net/p/PLFFjXzObf-4euuMXXAckYBEIk_AIpFr26
Great workout! I love it! My only problem is during the abs section in 12:25 . My neck hurts like hell! any ideas about what I might be doing wrong or what to do in that case?
Hey! I'm the instructor from the video. I can't say exactly what you did wrong since I can't see you execute the movement but more often than not neck pain during ab work comes from pulling on the neck. It's important to know that when you're curling up off the floor the curl comes from your abs/torso NOT from bending the neck forward. TIPS: Try pressing your head back into your hands so you are resisting the pull and pretend that you are holding an orange between your chin and chest (that's a good way to tell if you are pulling on the neck or not) If that still doesn't help I would recommend just keeping your head on the mat until you develop stronger muscles though your core! Hope this helps! Katie Cook
Thank you so much, Katie! Didn't think YOU would answer at all, it means a lot! I'll have your tips in mind while I'm doing it. :) Sending love from Buenos Aires!
Thanks for the video, great work out! I think it would be really cool to use reusable water bottles instead of disposable to promote sustainability. This is such a popular video it's a good opportunity to set an example for little ways we can do our part.
Thank you for the feedback! Before shooting the video we had discussed this point and decided to have the instructions as you saw them, but it is very helpful to know that it does matter to the viewer! We will take this into consideration in the future - glad to hear you enjoyed the workout too!
With barre classes it doesn’t matter how many years you do it, your legs are going to shake, or your plié needs to be deeper. The shake is a good sign that you’re building muscle by challenging them and a good teacher will continue to challenge herself. Nothing has straightened my posture or strengthened my core like my local barre fusion class
Jo Mack in other words, Don’t Give Up on it! If you’re doing the movements (or trying to do them) properly, you’ll see results quickly. Lots of stretching afterwords is needed
If you click on the little gear icon located in the bottom right hand corner of youtube's player window, you can adjust the playback speed. You can slow it to .75, .5 or .25, but please be aware this will also slow down the audio. Hope this helps you enjoy the workout more!
I don't even know how the advanced one is even doable considering that following Katie was hurting as much! Edit: But the only good muscle is an aching one! :)
Liked the workout. Girl you gotta not scream during your lesson. Had to turn volume off. Which made my neck hurt trying to watch and workout at the same time.
It is hard to say because of many different factors starting with your personal fitness level. To get a better idea of how many calories you burn in any workout, we would recommend using a heart rate monitor, whether it be a chest strap or a watch with wrist based heart rate. You can check them out here: www.holabirdsports.com/collections/heart-rate-monitors www.holabirdsports.com/collections/gps-watches/hrm-features_calorie-consumption
HolabirdSports I love this specific workout/trainer she was really inspiring. Where can I find the rest of her workouts? though the others look good they aren't really my thing.
Yes, this workout gets a bit intense for beginners, even with the modified versions of the moves done by Amanda (right side of screen). If you are finding it too challenging you can try not using weights, limiting the amount of reps for each movement and lowering the range of motion for each movement until you become more familiar with the workout and stronger over time. Hope this helps!
Great workout!!!!! Thank you so much for posting! (In addition, could you kindly let me know the brand and model name of the mat on this video? cause I cannot find it from the link above "Check out Katie's Workout Gear". Thanks again~!!!)
Hmm, we hope this problem doesn't persist. Maybe there was an issue with your internet service at the time? We haven't had any issues on our end or had similar feedback form other users. This workout is challenging enough as it is without having issues with it freezing. Thanks for the feedback, we hope you get to enjoy this workout.
Any form of exercise will work even BS ones. Barre is one of those. Isolating muscle groups for “toning” perpetuates the debunked idea of spot reduction. We don’t lose fat at the location of repeated muscle contraction. For example, exercises like abdominal crunches don’t reshape the adipose (fat) tissue around the belly. You can't "elongate” muscles. This is another activity that isn’t supported by current exercise science - muscles have fixed origins and insertions, so their lengths don’t change. Science just doesn't back up what this fad "exercise" claims. Traditional free weights and cardio will produce far better results. But that isn't the latest greatest fad even though it clearly works better.
Exactly. I looked this up cus I heard my sister talking about this, and it's just stupid. The thing is that most of the people who do these fad workouts go from sedentary to this, so of course they'll see some results. But for the amount of effort that they are putting in, the results are near zero. Lifting is the best way to build muscle and see results.
This video is NOT for beginners. It is certainly a challenge and a good work out but pace yourself. Girlfriend offers ZERO rest between workouts. And the premenstral irritability is strong w me right now - I CANNOT stand her shouting and super close to the mic talking. Grr! Closing: not for beginners, good challenge, good workout, fast paced, prefer less shouting.
This vid is AWESOME -- I've taken a variety of barre classes at studios by different instructors, and this is a perfect at-home replica of the best of them. Thank you!!!!

Awesome workout that I was able to do almost all of at 29 weeks pregnant! Thanks so much
Lisa Buckle so good to hear. I'm 25 weeks and there just aren't enough good prenatal workouts in the abyss of RUclips so I'm going to attempt this with many modifications I assume. Thanks for the reassurance.
This was the quickest 27 minutes of my life. I guess I liked this workout.
Super crazy instructor....She changes excersizes so quickly like she is playing a video game! Even girl on the left asked her to slow down...But still instructor is on fire!

Thank you so much, Katie! Didn't think YOU would answer at all, it means a lot! I'll have your tips in mind while I'm doing it. :)
Sending love from Buenos Aires!
Hi Katie! I loved the workout! Do you have any more barre videos?
I am 48 yrs old and I tried this workout. I kept having to stop and rest. It made me realize how physically weak I am. This workout really hurts.
Thanks for the video, great work out! I think it would be really cool to use reusable water bottles instead of disposable to promote sustainability. This is such a popular video it's a good opportunity to set an example for little ways we can do our part.
Excellent workout! Thanks for posting.
I would have loved mirrored instructions (left=right and right=left) but overall a great and short workout!
Thank you for the feedback! Before shooting the video we had discussed this point and decided to have the instructions as you saw them, but it is very helpful to know that it does matter to the viewer! We will take this into consideration in the future - glad to hear you enjoyed the workout too!
Love this workout!! Do you have the links to the other videos in the six week series??

I know I'm out of shape, but wowza! Suuuper fun workout (:
Glad to hear you enjoyed it - thanks for the comment!
Why are y’all acting like you don’t see the instructors leg shaking during the warmup? But you want me to do it??? NOT!

Hola, me gusta tu rutina!
is there a way to slow the speed down? I like the class but it's too fast for me to follow as a beginner.
If you click on the little gear icon located in the bottom right hand corner of youtube's player window, you can adjust the playback speed. You can slow it to .75, .5 or .25, but please be aware this will also slow down the audio. Hope this helps you enjoy the workout more!
@@holabirdsports Thank you!! : - )
I can't wait to start this workout.
where can I start barre classes? I am currently living in London SW9
Great strength workout-I was hurting and I'd say I'm a pretty well conditioned athlete. Only burns about 120 calories tho
please please please post another one!!! much love from Boston
intense!!
Very heavy on the quads and only 5 minutes of barre which, when it came, was behind a chair for the most part!
where is the barre?
I don't even know how the advanced one is even doable considering that following Katie was hurting as much!
Edit: But the only good muscle is an aching one! :)
Any idea approx how many calories this burns?
Does anyone know how many estimated calories burned when following this routine?
I almost died several times. But I love it

Good workout, but music is not engaging at all. Better music would improve overall
This seem awesome but the video is freezing all the time, hard to keep up when you don't know what's happening

Where is the BARRE Workout?
her counts for each side are not the same for most of the sets. ????
Shhh...move along. Or buy an actual gym membership instead of criticizing free workouts online. :)
Crap!! When is the break🤣
Why is it called a barre workout?
Yes but this had only five minutes of barre?

Great exercises - waaaaay too fast for good form.
I'm sure you sweat a lot, but the tempo is way too fast and you're training basically nothing but your calves. Thumbs down.
That was awesome! Thank you.
