    I used to love miniatures and making them. Soo much work and creativity I seem to lack these days never finish anything, but I miss making stuff. So I got into sublimation and it's helping with my mental health especially because I can finish and sell things

      @Squirrel I really never actually like printed something besides some reports for school this whole time. I didn't realize how much I had to learn just to print things at its best quality. I love it something i can finish. Now a days I just admire people's miniatures and occasionally buy peices.

    I have seen all the miniatures you have made and I can tell that you deserve much more recognition than you have right now. Your work is amazing. The amount of details you put into every miniature and the amount of time you spent on it and on postproduction. It takes a lot of patience and passion for this. Beautiful work!

    Quite frankly I love my sewing machine. I have had it for over 12 years and I cannot imagine being without a sewing machine. It allows me to make beautiful quilts out of scraps, clothing, and lots of things. I also love my paint brushes. They must be a certain brand and the handles made of wood. Kind of interesting to think about.

    Awesome job!
    Favorite tool: the hand-held popsicle stick cutter with the angles guide. It's so much easier than trying to use scissors or an exacto knife. (But now I want a mini saw like yours - that thing's way cool!)
    For my crochet: definitely the yarn winder that makes cakes out of skeins. Less trouble with yarn barf (tangles in the skein that causes a large clump of yarn to pull out of the skein) and the cakes store better than skeins.

    For miniature stained glass pieces, I save the cellophane wrappers from chocolates, usually the Quality Street or knockoffs that are available everywhere around Christmas time. But if you don't have the colour you need, Sharpies are a good option; you can even make your own alcohol inks from them (or any permanent markers) for better coverage control.

    This is incredible. I have an xtool laser and want to make dioramas. I am curious what foam board you use and how thick? I have a Cameo Pro 24” vinyl cutter so it should be able to cut the foam. Cannot cut foam with a laser as it is toxic.
    I have a blade runner 2 which is an upside down jigsaw that acts like a table saw but with a hidden blade so you don’t cut yourself. It can do metal and tile and everything they make a jigsaw blade for.

    • @AbandonedMiniatures
      @AbandonedMiniatures  Год назад

      I use the common 1/4” stuff you can find at any of the stores, sometimes order higher quality ones though. You can absolutely cut it with a laser, many foams are not toxic to cut as long as you’re ventilating the smoke.

    Because I work in wood primarily, my favorite tools are for that medium. I love my Micro Make (from Micro Mark) miniature power tools-especially the palm-sized belt sander, the scroll saw and Proxxon pen sander. They all work out of the same transformer and they do things to miniature sized wood (< 1/8" thick) that is really hard or impossible to do with standard sized tools. If you get the palm sized sander, you can make a jig for it that turns it into a stationary belt sander--which is how I use it all the time. I LOVE these tools. They make me so happy. I am not a Micro Mark or Proxxon rep, so when I say be careful of possible knock-off versions you might find on Amazon, it is based on experience.

      I’ll have to see about the Proxxon pen sander. I have the table saw…at first I was like how well can this work it’s about the length and with of a piece of paper but it’s a little beast and perfect for my 1:12 to 1:24 stuff!

    • @marykayryan7891
      @marykayryan7891 Год назад +1

      @@chelseahill1257 If I had it to do over again, I would buy the MicroMark table saw. I had to upgrade a lot on the Proxxon to make it work better. The rip fence was kind of crap, so I extended it so I can clamp it at the far end. And I built a cross cut sled. All that would have been either standard or available on MicroMark model. Then there's the Jim Burns mini table saw. Very $$$ but very good also. I think I'd buy the Micro Mark pen sander also. I think Proxxon is just a bit below standard and the cost differences are not prohibitive (unlike Ken Burns saw). In any case, have fun!

      @@marykayryan7891 thank you so much! Being new to this I really appreciate the info! Tools are such an investment and it makes me nuts spending money on garbage. As I develop my skill set and it’s time to expand and upgrade I’ll def keep your advice in mind. I anticipate working mostly with wood firstly because I like it but also work space is extremely limited so I don’t foresee 3D printing or laser cutting, not to mention my skill with some of these programs is non existent 😊

    On favorite tools: I stumbled upon the niftiest wearable row counter for knitting! It's a finger ring I wear on my thumb that has numbered rings that I dial around as I finish a row to track progress and remind me where I am in the pattern.
    It's so much quicker and tidier than other methods, but the best bit is how tactile it is.
    The ring is metal, so it has some weight to it, there's tension as I dial, plus a click and lock when the number is in place. Soooo satisfying.
    And I *love* your tabletop table saw. I had no idea such a thing existed, and I could actually use one.

    I completely agree about how tools that work properly and feel good while you're working with them really spark creativity and make me want to keep making stuff. Some things as simple as a really sweet set of Knipex mini cutters or my miniature chisel set always make me happy. Most of my power tools do double-duty for full size projects and motorcycle fixes so my favorites are my benchtop band saw, my small belt/disc sander, and my wonderfully accurate drill press.
    My current favorite tool is a simple knife made by Matt Estlea (woodworker extraordinaire here on RUclips). It is perfectly weighted and finished and feels sooooo good to work with.
    But that mini table saw...hmmmm, may need to add that to the collection.

I’m sure this sounds silly but being new to miniatures my tools are limited. I almost quit right after I started because I was getting so frustrated because I couldn’t keep anything square. So I would say my 123 three blocks or what really inspire me because they make all the difference in the world, with my tiny table top saw a close second. Truly an amazing job here. Their room seems a bit empty is this because you copied a specific scene or just haven't add any other details yet? I'm trying to remember where I saw their room so abandoned, is this from very last episode when they were leaving?

    It's nice; it would be nicer with vintage wallpaper and an oval rug
