SUV Tent Walmart Camping

- I picked up a tent that attaches to the back of an SUV to see if this would fly in a #Walmart parking lot. Many Walmart's have stopped allowing #camping, but there are still a few out there that let you camp for one night. I set up the tent on the edge of the parking lot and hunkered down for the night with my slow cooker meal.

My husband, an avid fan, passed away this past Sunday night. This is the first episode I've watched without him in a couple of years. I've got all my ducks in a row, the service isn't until next weekend, so I'm keeping my promise to him this weekend - I'm going camping! I'm going for five nights, actually, and I'm probably going to spend most of the time sitting by the campfire, moving the wood around with the poker that he made.
Thank you, Steve for making the last few month of his life a little more bearable - he went back and rewatched every single camping trip, as well as the step 2 channel. I'm sorry he didn't get to see a new one before he passed, but I'm very glad to hear that you are feeling better now 😃
Prayers your way .. lost daughter this year & and yeah Steve calmed my emotions through it !!
I’m so sorry for your loss Bonnie. Fans of Steve support him and each other! Take care.
Bonnie, my husband passed from COVID. You have my respect and prayers.
Be strong!
My condolences
I think we need an episode of Steve camping in a tent overnight inside a Canadian Tire.
That would be funny!
The smell of canadian tire is the rubber of heaven
Agreed
Steve needs a sponsorship from Canadian Tire.
Maybe he will camp inside ur mom too. Come on man be realistic, steve aint breaking the law to camp anywhere. He does it legal and stealthy.
Steve is the only guy I’ve seen that can get a tent back into its original bag and zip it shut! That’s wild
😂
Steve doesn’t want to draw too much A-Tent-tion?😂
If you noticed the video cut out, then the tent was in the bag. I think Steve used trick photography.
Steve's home is 6,200 SF traditional federal.
Looks like Walter White's RV.
@@sweetsongstress7398 Ba-dum-bum. Tssshhhh.
The most impressive thing about Steve is how neatly he can put everything back. Takes me 5 minutes of anger then I’m just shoving it all in the car.
As a fellow patience-challenge human, I relate. This comment made me laugh lol
The people of Walmart are far more terrifying than any bears or wolves etc. Steve truly is a brave man for camping in this area.
😮😮
like that evil woman giving steve the stink eye when she is camping there too
@@Charok1 and not unlike the evil woman giving me the stink eye when I grabbed the last twinkies.
Indeed.
Seriously. I knew a guy who tried this while bike touring. Worst sleep ever. Very uncomfortable.
That moment of panic where you're like 'oh dang, did I lock my keys in the car?' was obvious and tangible, I felt that in my soul. Good video, as always!
If anybody ever tells you that it has never happened to them - they are lying.
Last time I was wearing a wetsuit. Did the dive and came back to break the window with my dive knife. That was 35 years ago.
I thought the same thing.
@@juditate111although I'm not a driver, this happened to me and a former coworker cause she locked her keys in the car, either that or the key broke off in the boot lock, anyway, we couldn't get in the car again and we had to wait for road side assistance, lol
Just as I read this, I finished breaking into the house while we were outside in out pj's.

For every person shaking their head in disgust at you in real life, you have like 100 thousand people nodding their heads in approval at you on the internet. Not sure if that's a motivational quote or not.
Over the last 6 months I’ve been watching these before bed and I swear it’s helping me sleep better. Thanks Steve!
It helps me too.
Same!

You have a lot of very interesting content on your channel, where you take chances for content. Walmart, though, is a delicate area. And this could affect a lot of folks. Pushing the boundaries at Walmart I feel was taking a big chance of further eroding the privilege of vehicle sleeping at Walmart, a practice that really helps people to be able to do. They allow parking and sleeping, not camping. You may not have been caught this time, but may have been noticed, which could increase the chance that the next sign they put up will say ‘No overnight parking’. All for the sake of creating RUclips content.
Me too! 🙂
Steve, your style of camping truly brings affordable camping back to the people and I love it. No one has to feel embarrassed for not having the most high end equipment
Heck ya.. been camping in a $60 tent for 3 years…4 weekend trips a summer.. still going great!
My thoughts exactly. I’m in the Uk and for me camping meant I could actually have holidays and from the age of 17 till age 30 I lived in a wide selection of vehicles. So many of the vanlife ,camping videos on RUclips make it look like you need every new expensive gadget to do it. Sure that just puts of a lot of people from just getting out and having adventures.
The more you know, the less you need.
No, it doesn't. Walmart absolutely does not allow you to set up a friggin' tent in their parking lot. All this guy does is ruin it for the rest of us
@dakotaellis9978 This is incorrect. The store manager decides if overnight parking is allowed. Camping, which this obviously is, is not allowed by company policy for obvious reasons.
Slow cooker in a car, in a tent, in the Walmart lot. Pure gold. Love you, Steve!

Steve's usage of "the normies wouldn't understand" is decidedly the best one
The sheer panic in Steve’s voice when realizing he got the Lite cheese is all too familiar
Highlight of the video 😂😂
This is the comment I was searching for!
I think I would be more freaked out tent camping in a Walmart parking lot than I've ever been out in the woods on my own. People scare me more than wildlife.
Agreed!
Hi Kenny! ❤
That’s a perfect summation of why I love nature
I've also solo camped a ton and including near bear, cougar, moose stomping grounds. I'll never, ever do so near a Mall-Wart parking lot with the hominin animals roaming there. ;)
So true.
Steve is this daring adventurer, he goes on trips into the wilderness and even bigfoot country, highway medians, abandoned mines and train stations, and now WAL-MARTs parking lot!
And this probably IS the most dangerous of all of those!
You forgot roundabouts. That was the best lol.
I love how happy he got when he realized his food was cooked properly lmao. Love your content Steve!!!
The fear in his voice when he saw the cheese was healthy lmao
thats the exact moment I went and hit the like button hahahah
Keep your health up brother. We need you out there exploring spaces no one thinks to spend the night at. Much love!
I think Steve could post a video of him doing nothing but sitting by a camp fire or cooking some food and I'd be happy. This man brings me so much joy to watch his adventures and I look forward to each and every video.
He has. ruclips.net/video/aZk1vllFboI/видео.html
Ive watched almost all his videos over the last few weeks.
That is exactly how we feel. We just like seeing Steve!
Same, well said ☺️
i love seeing what unusual food he cooks, it's always my favourite part seeing him get so excited about terrible food.
Steve, I'm sure it's been said a million times already, but I've just gotta say it myself.... you're such a nice guy. Truly. God bless you, man :)
Lucky a flash mob didn't get him 🚬😳
I second this! Steve’s videos have helped me through many tough times. Thanks again Steve. God bless. 👏
I have to remind myself that this is Steve talking to himself for the entire video. Great camera work. A really entertaining video
Pro tip: Always carry paracord. If you're ever somewhere you can't get an anchor in the ground, or if there's really strong wind, tie a length of paracord to each corner of your tent about half way up. Tie the other end to a decent sized rock. I use this at the beach and on the river a lot due to high winds, but I usually bury the rock about 8-10" deep and stick another rock above it once I fill the hole in. Had a cheap chinese amazon tent survive all night in near hurricane force wind last summer because of this method.
You can also drive nails into the asphalt!
I feel like Walmart needs to give Steve a camping exemption sticker and let him park there whenever.
all Walmart needs to do is require camping area to be clear noon-5pm (or whatever)
Be the same film every week tho 😂 Steve camps in Walmart, again, and again, and again…
Doesn't he own a house?

There’s nothing better than a Camping with Steve crock pot meal “for one” and a classic one liner….”gnawing on my still twitching leg”. LOVE IT 😂
I laughed for a full five minutes. Thank you, Steve, we all need to laugh more.
I always love how Steve brings kitchen appliances w him on his camping adventures. Rice cooker, crock pot….🤔 hmmm? I haven’t seen the giant pepper mill in a minute. 😂 Steve is definitely salt of the earth!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see the shed clearout as a video! Be cool to see all the gear you have. Love your vids Steve!
How much do you just love this guy!!?? Been watching for years and it never gets old. Cheers, Steve!
Hes an unrepeatable miracle
It’s very homely.
He's the best, I watch his videos every night and they never fail to make me happy
Wrapping the crock in blankets or a sleeping let's you get high heat on lower settings.
Think about selling a used fork.... dollars....
I'm joking by the by
Always amusing to note how much anxiety Steve experiences during his outings when seemingly no one else in the universe notices or cares about his actions.
Yes😌
I mostly agree but you may be surprised at the hassle that any boldness could come with, especially when you don’t want any hassle at all. I think it’s a healthy habit of paranoia if it potentially helps avoid any unwanted interactions. Besides, it’s kinda entertaining too haha.
No anxiety, no thrill.
Right
Please see a psychiatrist
Watching this again. Need another vid with this tent
I don't think folks will fear this tent. Moms use magnets and tarps all the time on the back of the mini van door for the kids at the beach. Plus Walmart sells this. I think it looks neat.
I had a pretty rough day, but being able to watch Steve camp in a walmart parking lot is certainly the port i needed in the storm. Steve if you ever see this please know your videos do so much more for people than you may think. Our world can be harsh and cruel but you always remind us to stop and enjoy the peace - enjoy what is around us, and who is around us. Thank you for all you do
Be the change you want to see. I did road trip last month and saw lots of good folks. Lots of douchebags where I am, everyone is confrontational and triggered. I just decided not to play.

Steve pushing the boundaries as usual. Love it. Thanks.
I'd never thought of the Jackery/Slow Cooker combo before. That's nice to know. Maybe one idea to get more mileage out of the Jackery in that situation is to start the cooking while you're still driving and have the jackery plugged in to charge from your car and keep it topped up..
Great content.
The algorithms just presented me Steve videos recently. I suspect because i like videos of walking through woods around the world and also fun cooking videos. 😊 so glad found Steve's Canadian world.
Howdy Steve, as a divorced Dad who gets the kiddos every weekend, your videos really help my get through the lonesome weekdays. We look forward to watching your videos together and the kids constantly point out “that’s probably a place Steve Wallis would stealth camp” when we are out and about. Thanks again for the smiles you bring!

The sudden panic when he realized it was light cheese was amazing haha

I laughed at the lid jumping into the crock pot too at the same time, couldn't believe my eyes and ears lmao
I thought it was expired by his reaction. Nope. Just healthy. 😂😂
Silly Steve, that just means you can use twice as much!
I know that feeling! If I’m going to eat something that’s not healthy, I want the real deal.
I love the shot of the moon passing by your window while you sleep!
We absolutely love our Napier tent. It's been everywhere.
What i love so much about these videos is Steve is such a normal guy and makes me feel like if i wanted to, i could invest a small amount of money and give stealth camping a try.
I wouldn’t bet money on it but I seem to remember Steve camping in a black plastic garbage bag one time. Now that’s thrifty.
I'm gonna take my 4 yr old and attempt some this weekend. We can both live and learn with it.

As with any talented, exceptional person, Steve makes it look easy. Also, Steve sometimes has bear spray with him. If that is deemed necessary as a precaution, then I guess I'm spooked! I admire Steve but I'll stay on the sidelines.

What a bright spot in this dark world you are, Steve. Thanks for being you. You forgot to mention biggest advantage of the tent- it creates a nice mosquito-free zone! And thanks for mentioning Thermocell awhile back. Its been a game-changer for us here in Florida! God bless!
Steve risks confronting the feral people of Walmart! As an Arkansan from the place Walmart was born, I marvel at his courage. I'm sure I've seen sasquatch in the self check out line here in hillbilly country.
Fellow newportian it's a small world
No worries, he's just in sleepy little Hinton, Alberta. Bears, cougars abound. Probably the odd hillbilly even. No sasquatch though, they all live in BC. 😂
I’ve seen Sasquatch at a Walmart, here in Washington state, too! He was wearing a yellow thong that was about three sizes too small.

Thank you Steve for taking us along your parking lot camping. Love your calm and soothing voice😊
I work doing cleaning at a Walmart 3rd shift, after it's closed. I've seen a lot, never a tent attached the car. So good, I won't look at the parking lot the same. :)
