Car Camo Stealth Camping

- I found a spot along the side of the highway that was perfect to pull the SUV in for a night of secret camping. I covered the car with hunter's camo cloth and it blended in wonderfully. It was a bit of a noisy campsite, but I got used to it. Camped out in the car I couldn't hear too much traffic.

I think there's a problem somewhere with the RUclips processing. I have got some comments about audio not lining up, but on all the computers here the audio lines up and the original file I uploaded is ok for audio. It seems that not everyone is having the problem. My friend said he had that before and it cleared up but it was a bit of a mystery. I am working on this but hoping it resolves without having to take this down and re-upload it. Cheers everyone and sorry for the audio issues!
It's all good
The audio is good for me love the video's Steve all the best
I just watched on an iPhone and the audio was out of sync.
I am having the issue. The video and audio and not lined up. It’s like 5 seconds off.
I’m going to log out and see if that changes anything.
The audio for me was terrible.
“The trick to looking like you are doing community service work is to look angry” classic Steve and I love it!!!
but why? what is the point of stealth camping for recreation? i would only stealth camp for survival practice
I can see how this plays out if Steve ever gets caught.
Judge: You were caught stealth camping in a car and picking up trash by the side of the road?
Steve: Yes Your Honor.
Judge: Seems you anticipated your punishment beforehand. Time served!
@@cagneybillingsley2165 For....enjoyment? fulfillment? Fun?
@@phydeux 😂😂😂 This killed me lmao, but that would definitely play out like that in court haha
@@phydeux plot twist, Steve is actually doing community service and decided to make content out of it. anywho love it!
I'm guessing that if you ever did get busted on a stealth camp the person who found you would just be happy to meet the famous camping Steve. Everyone loves this guy.
Don’t think the police would be impressed tho😂. Maybe though?🤷🏼♂️
Not all know Steve though.
Another great episode, I enjoyed hanging out.
Yeah, he's definitely given me some great ideas!
It’s not even illegal to do what he’s doing
Quick tip from someone who has spent a lot of time hiding vehicles with camonets in the military. 1. You need to break up the silhouette of the vehicle. 2. Hide all reflective surfaces of the vehicle. Those are the main things that give you away but there is a lot more to it.
Been watching for a few years. You helped me through a hard time with depression, no friends no relationships ect. Feels like I’m camping with an old friend. Hope you are doing well Steve we love and support you dearly, from Australia ❤
I hope you're feeling better, Moto. :)
hang in there moto
Best wishes from Central Victoria❤
Steve, you have helped so many of us through tough times and late nights. I hope you’re doing ok man.
Dude that's exactly it, THAT'S why I love this channel!
Really wish every camper was like Steve. Tries his best not to be noticed and always cleans up and leaves it better than he finds it. Thanks for your dedication to RUclips and giving us some entertainment!
Exactly! Ever since the pandemic it seems like the amount of garbage some campers leave behind has tripled
Steve sounds like you used to be a Boy Scout and an eagle scout. How he looks at camping site cleaning up all that stuff and everything that's almost exactly like word-for-word with the Boy Scouts teach you.
Steve's trash pickup is a great lesson for us all. 😊
When I was growing up in the 70’s, our family vacations were usually camping. Before we left a campsite, our dad would have my siblings & me police the area. We picked up so many cigarette butts ( parents didn’t smoke) and pull tabs from beer cans. Dad always wanted to leave a campsite cleaner than we found it
@@joshjablonicky171 "Leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures." And if you're really good, you don't even leave footprints.
After doing finals for 15 hours, all I want to do is sit down with food and watch stealth camping. Thanks Steve
I just realized that an egg vending machine was something I needed in my life. How many of you knew that was a thing?! Steve, love ya man. I so appreciate you.
Agreed that would be smashing
Picking up trash in a safety vest is both an amazing thing to do, and brilliant to go completely unnoticed. It's perfect for what you do
A high vis vest and a clipboard get you anywhere. But if you're doing a road pickup, wear gloves too.
@@imho2278 hardhat and clipboard can get you into any building*
Steve's remark about looking angry is spot on too. Never let them think you're enjoying yourself!
Just seeing that you have posted a video makes me smile. We can all feel your sadness and are walking this journey with you. Jess is missed and we love the stories of you two camping and enjoying your life together.
Steve makes better meals crouched over a tiny butane stove in the woods than I do in the comfort of my home.
perhaps you are not crouched over your tiny stove sufficiently
Sounds like you need to up your kitchen game.
honestly, between him and a couple other camping youtubers that i watch, i have been inspired to make better meals at home, simply bc if they can make them out over a camp stove in the middle of the woods, i can make them in my kitchen!
Steve,
I am living at a halfway house @ the moment. I have been at this sober living now for 2 months and I hav 3 months clean as of April 5th. These videos help me deal with the displacement of my living situation. Some night are particularly challenging to endure because of the living conditions and meal options . These videos surely help me cope also feels like I am camping with Steve.
Good job
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉 👏 🎈🥇
Hang in there
It gets better

Congrats and hang in there...better days are ahead
You have troubles with living conditions and meal options, but you have a device and service to check and post on this video? Interesting.
I'm rooting for you. Keep it up buddy!

What's better than a Thursday? A Thursday when a new Steve Wallis video drops!
True story!
That's the truth
Frick yeah!
Thanks so much!
honest truth!
We love you Steve. Glad your still making content.
The time lapse of the road, the sky, and the stars was just mesmerizing! I watched it in 2160p on a big screen, wonderful! (I watched it last week, just now got around to making the comment.) Enjoyed it!
That was really cool.
I loved the detail of the audio clip of the vehicle passing by just before it turns to dawn! Very powerful.
That's the saddest thing I've heard a man say.
It was so cool, it reminded me of the light painting (I think that's what it's called) people he met in the bunker/cave that made those pictures with the flaming steel wool.
Steve sure knows how to make camping next to a road look fun
camping behind a sign was by far my favorite LOL
I wonder if he took earplugs?💞
Steve is to outside what Mr. Rogers is to insides. Thanks for continuing to bring us joy Steve!
I love this channel. I’m too scared to even go camping alone in a normal so I feel like I’m living vicariously through Steve lol
The "this doesn't look spooky" really got me, Steve! Glad to see you finding mischief and having a good time. Lots of love from Florida! Keep it up.
Steve is like, "lets be careful and wrap everything in camo net" - *then proceeds to blast everything with white light at night* 😂
Camo, high vis, and bright light, how’s that for mixed signals?
Got to use red light for these situations bud! Great for immediate area needing light.. can’t see it from the road..
@@jeeppatriotshannanigans599steve wouldn’t get much use out of that as he’s color blind
How many of you like me now point out / look out for cool spots like this to stealth camp. Even without actually camping, it’s cool to imagine the possibilities. Thanks for the inspiration Steve!
It never hurts to dream!!☺️
I started looking and have found tons of spots!
I do this all the time. I see spots and think “wish Steve could camp there “
I'm going through a lonely part in my life and I usually eat my meals with your videos, thanks Steve.
Hello, Steve! I am a new viewer, and subscriber. :)
You have opened up my eyes to so much knowledge of camping and some really neat experiences in the wild. I know you have had some struggles in the past, but you are doing good and you got this, man! Stay strong Steve, you're my favorite camping RUclipsr, I have all of my faith in you! I am so glad to be a part of your community, I feel humbled here.
There's no one else on RUclips I'll listen to that much road noise for. We love you Steve!
I know, and I can’t imagine camping with that noise!
Agreed. That road noise was harsh. Willing to tolerate it for Steve, but beyond that… 🙉
Stealth camping right beside a major freeway? Lol, dude can't be this stupid.
You’d hope that Sony or GoPro would/could develop a road noise filter for Steve.
What?! I find it extremely relaxing...
The guy is on the side of a highway yet still manages to make a better meal than I do most nights. I’ve been watching long enough to know this hasn’t always been the case and I’m certain there is consulting of some type going on but I’m glad to see Steve taking a more responsible approach to his well being. It sucks getting old. Good on you Steve.
I still love to watch Steve make a big, cheesey burger! Well-being can exist with the occasional camp feast. After all, calories consumed when camping are 50% less it seems.
A better meal than I've ever made in my life.
Beautiful Wife left him with some good camping cookbooks. She was a wonderful person.
As much as I love watching your videos, and they help me stay calm when times are tough. I always enjoy reading the comments more, because it is so obvious how light-hearted all of your fans are. I hope you know That for every bit of sadness you ever have; you inspire ten times that happiness in your fans lives.
Perfect time of year to do a fire and hammock camp. In the woods.
The timelapse for the night turned out really nice with all the car lights from the highway. Another successful stealth camp, nicely done Steve!
I liked that, too. ❤
Agreed! The night lapse was fresh!
I love it how high-vis jackets actually make you invisible
Years ago, I moved in with a woman who lived right off a main thoroughfare. I was worried about the noise, but after awhile the traffic just lulled me to sleep. Thanks Steve, for another enjoyable episode. You truly are a good person setting an example for humanity. Dinner looked great!
Hi Steve. It’s great to see you back on you tube. I sincerely hope you are well because I believe you have been missed. Your videos are always great to watch and a good source of inspiration for adventures. Stay well my friend.
Thank you for the kind words
Yep, I've missed Steve a lot. This is one of my favorite channels and I hope you are doing ok Steve. I can't wait for my next camping trip!
Hey he gave you a heart because you complimented him. he's an inspiration to us all.
Steve, the amount of people you make happy with these simple camping videos is amazing. Thank you for being you! 😀
Best time of the week camping with Steve
Some magnets would make quick work of hanging the camo netting on the car. I’ve used them for years to tarp my windshields against ice or cover a truck full of things I can’t unload right away. Thanks for having the fun for the rest of us!
Nothing calms the mind like a Steve Wallis' video. I live camping and adventure life vicariously through your channel.
Check out "simon a bloke in the woods" his videos are amazing ❤
What about the reflectors on your car and headlights at night...? Possible dead give away if the popo is poking around...or driving by
Thank you Steve for always leaving your camping spot cleaner than you found it!
I love how you incorporate social responsibility while doing your thing. ❤
Steve, your videos put a smile on my face. I’m going through a hard time, but know it’ll get better, and your videos definitely fill the void. Thank you
I was a tank crewman for 9 years. Tree limbs laying in a diagonal hash pattern really help break up a vehicle outline.
You’ve definitely taught me how much you can get away with using only a traffic vest and a trash bag
I love that disguise too 😂. I always wonder if passers by think he’s a criminal doing community service as punishment 😂😂😂
And an angry face...don't forget the angry face! 🤬😂
I know, right?!
Old wisdoms lol, you can get anywhere with a hiviz, clipboard and attitude, ladder and toolbox is another.
That and wearing a hard hat and carrying a clipboard.
Overnight time-lapse on this one was super cool. Streaks from the cars and the stars visible showing the rotation of the earth. Really fantastic 👌
Hi Steve. I just wanted to say how much peace you've brought to my life after many a rough day. Especially in a time in which content creators are incentivized to keep us angry and divided, it is such a breath of fresh air to turn on a channel like yours just to watch a kind dude keeping young at heart and sharing his love for the outdoors. Some nights I just pull the plug on social media, chuck the phone aside, lay down on the coach, and doze off peacefully to one of your videos. Humans are pretty awesome, despite the very small portion of people profiting off of us thinking otherwise. I also wanted to share my condolences about your recent loss. Like so many of us I am sure, we have struggled with the idea of saying anything at all, because we know there are no words that can take your pain away. I don't know how to heal such wounds or advice to give in such situations, so I'll just say what I do know: we appreciate you, we love you, and we are here for you however we can be. - Brett (Plymouth, Michigan)
I love how you leave a place cleaner than when you arrived. If more people would pick up trash (or not leave it there in the first place) our outdoor spaces would be better places. Thank you Steve.
Thank you so much for taking me camping with you again. I know you’re going through a hard time right now and… We’re all with you. ❤
Man I love Canada and Canadians.
Kind folks.
Thanks Steve!

This is #29 trending as I watch this, good job Steve!

I have been watching this channel, Steve, for years. I have been in hopes of going back out into nature and camping more like I used to have as a kid. Only recently have I been able to get enough money to buy the proper gear in order to do so safely. This channel was the first to spark that joy back up and I have taken a 8 mile hike last week in the smokey mountains. I don't regret it and I am thankful that I had found Steve with his random camping videos. I tend to do more hiking in the future with my dog Willow.
Steve.... your videos never get old. Love what you do. Me and my kids look forward to your adventures.
Living vicariously through you, Steve. Keep up the great work.
Steve, I can't tell you just how much I enjoy your videos. I used to camp when I was a kid but I don't go anymore due to some health issues (I'm 66), but I love watching your adventures. You bring such joy to everything you do and a smile to my face. Thank you. Much love and take care!
I don’t know about everyone else, but I love videos like this, and even regular camping in a campground too. I’m just here to hang out with Steve.
Ikr, he inspired us to start making content and here soon we’ll be doing camping and hiking vids in Colorado!
These are my favorite. In nice non conventional spots. But he still managers to relax and enjoy a nice time. It goes to show that it doesn't take much to have a good time. This one was great. Sleeping in a car in an undisturbed spot like that, with the smooth noise from the highway. That's how one has a good time.
❤. Good to see you getting back out and doing what you love. Please take good care of yourself, and keep doing what you need to do to get through each day.
Looking forward to many more videos from you.
Man these stealth videos are really useful. If s ever htf all of your viewers will be able to hide knowing what works and doesn't.
If anything can cheer you up, it's when steve uploads no matter what he does.
Thank you for the endless of hours you use for us
The food quality certainly has gone up tho!
I used to know a guy who lived on government land. They eminent domain-ed it out from under him. He covered everything with those camo tarps and continued to live there and run a mechanic business for about 15yrs. RIP to Sam, the ultimate stealth camper.
Always makes my day when you post a new video.
What did he do? Live in a tent?
I don't know about anybody else but who wants to go camping with Steve? I feel like he makes the best camping food! Looks very delicious 😋....I love your ideas and adventures Steve, keep on keeping on!
Thank you for taking us with you, Steve!
Did we just witness Steve interact with a vending machine for EGGS?! I never knew such a thing existed! Much love, Steve. You're the GOAT.
I can just imagine someone driving down the highway with their window open and catch a whiff of Steve's chicken dinner
During food prep or 30 minutes after consumption?
"Hey Martha, did you just smell chicken cooking?" "Dave, you'd better slow down to the speed limit before you start smelling all sorts of stuff."
Well workmen in yellow and orange vests gotta eat sometime yaknow? 😄
Must be why I smell fresh coffee in the middle of nowhere sometimes when I’m driving😄
Wow, wow, wow. That nighttime timelapse was absolutely gorgeous.
I have nothing great to say, just that you’re an inspiration in more ways than you can ever imagine, keep going, keep smashing it and keep being you
I follow a bunch of creators on RUclips and Steve’s videos are the only ones I get excited about and that’s real
If anyone did see Steve parked there, they would think he was a cop setting up a speed trap...people would slow down...Steve saved lives!
Steve Wally for Nobel peace prize
I love how anxious Steve is, there is no reason anyone would call the police on him and very few valid reasons the police would talk to him, the amount of time I have been driving through the mountains and saw a car pull off and thought to myself “woah someone is camping there alright keep going” lol no one cares
The area he is in , looks like an area a cop would hide in .That is the problem , with the place Steve is parked in .
Except for the fact that a lot of people absolutely get arrested for similar behavior on a regular basis

I have found that securing some large bolts or nuts to an edge of the tarp helps keep them in place until secured AND serves as a way to easily toss them over my rig. The trick is to make sure the nuts are padded to keep paint and windows safe.
I first started watching Steve because I was interested in the whacky places he'd camp in. Now I watch cause Steve is such a nice and likeable guy! I wanna share a step 2 with him

So incredibly thrilled you're making these videos again. Watching them is like hanging out with a good friend. Thanks, Steve
I love how steve always looks around nervously and puts on disguises even though he is just parking on the side of the highway, making himself even more suspicious than if he would just act normal.

Life is stressful as all hell lately, obvious, right? But watching Steve's videos takes me back to being a kid with my friends and making hangouts in places we probably shouldn't have, which in turn made them into stealth camping spots. Of course, these later turned into firepit/drinking spots when we got older. We tried to be stealthy all the same. Love your videos Steve, they make me feel like a kid again.
