Electric Lift Hanging Tent Camping

- I went camping up in a #hanging tent in the trees this week! Well, it's not really a #tent, more of a hanging seat with a roof on it but it did the trick. I used a battery-powered wireless winch to hoist myself up onto the straps I hung between two trees. It was a successful night of camping!
Did you spot the Easter egg? ;)

What is best about you Steve is you are talking to a lifeless, faceless camera yet you have a way of making all of us feel part. You are a treasure Steve! Thank you for bringing us along. God bless you!
EXACTLY!!!❤ I feel like we're right there with him most adventures.😃
@@wyldflwr yup. I want to duck when he ducks down from a car or whatever..
It's a talent for sure. I can't get relaxed like Steve when I'm talking to my camera. He makes it seem natural.
I agree
I was scared to death
When I was a young man I used to go backpacking and camping a lot, middle years not so much because of career and family obligations. I am now 78 years old with some health issues. I went solo camping last week in a state park campground and Steve gave me the motivation to do it. Thank you Steve.
That is awesome! Keep going!
❤
Yeah, this is the type of comment that I love to see. Steve truly is an inspiration!
As long as you can plan for and accommodate your health issues, the mental benefits are incredible. These days, there are so many different kinds of camping with modest equipment needs, that it’s far more accessible than the days of that heavy odorous canvas, my friend!
Oh, nice orangutan.
I just turned 78 and I bought a van and went camping for a year. I loved it, but it got old seeing such beautiful sites and
with no one to share.
It was so cute when your tent slowly spun, then you peeked out at the side and cheerfully said, "Now you're camping with Steve." You are just a ray of sunshine, Steve.
Hysterical! I am recently a widow at the age of 54. Had to move out of Florida because rent is so high. Im in a tiny trailer in Louisiana now. Im barely making ends meet but whenever I find myself getting depressed, I have your videos to keep my spirits up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for just being Steve. Your videos help me cope with life! ❤
I became a widow at 52, I know where your coming from xx
Where part of Louisiana ? One of the best states !
Don’t you love it? If you are democrat or Biden supporter.
It's like a pinata for bears! Never a dull moment when you're Camping with Steve!
🤣
Oh, man, that is classic.
I do love these inventive videos, classic Camping with Steve.
Keep your stick on the ice and have a great day.
😂😂
I would want to hang higher so the bears cannot reach me.
Damn, I came here to make this comment. You beat me to it. 😊
Hey Steve, fellow Edmontonion here, I was an avid camper myself sense I was little sadly last year at 35 I was diagnosed with ALS. I have lost most of my ability to move now, just my right arm a little but use a power chair to move around. How I miss being out in nature. The RUclips algorithm brought me to your channel about 6 months ago, I now watch your videos a couple hours a day to camp through your videos. Thank you for making them and bring a smile to my face each day!
Stay strong!
Blessings and peace
We’re all camping with Steve ☺️Hope you get to get back in nature all the way soon ❤
Sorry to hear of your health diagnosis Josh. May you come to know and find peace and strength in the love of Jesus, as I do with my health issues. ❤
I’m very sorry you are dealing with this health issue Josh. Wishing you a peaceful heart and continued joy in watching Steve’s videos. I hope it’s possible for someone to take you out for a nature outing soon.
It just dawned on me. Steve would be the ideal housemate. He’s tidy and picks up trash, he cooks like MacGyver, and he’s all around a pleasant human. And he carries bear spray so if there are any intruders, he is well-equipped. I would live with him in a house or on the road. Oh! And he’s always got step twos handy. Legend.
I busted out laughing when I saw your tent set-up! I hope you know how much joy you bring! Whee! Going up! And as for your foil pouch dinner: you had me at onions and potatoes. Thank you Steve. You are a true delight.🥰
Thanks so much!
Loved that you say "Nobody in their right mind would camp in this," but there you are, not in your right mind, camping in it! You never let us down, and I love your sense of humor!
I know, "nobody in their right mind." lol
@14:13
@Steve Wallis, Mentioned you don't know what brand of winch you're using.
I've used a few winches,
(🚫🧙🏻♀️, 😂) at work.
All warn ⚠️ NOT for overhead use, do NOT use when personal injury could occur.
(My main concern would be if it dropped me on my bum, then the motor hit me on the head.🤕🤞)
Glad to see you living your BEST life, 🍻 DANGEROUSLY! 👍😂
✌️
@@copcuffs9973 yeah, it would be best to attach the winch to the base of the tree, or the bumper of the car, and attach a pulley overhead.
The way he let the tent circle and then poked his head and said "now your camping with steve" put the biggest smile on my face, absolutely brilliant
those claw marks were you climbing a tree yet again wasn't it🤣
I read this comment literally as he said it. I looked up right as he was swinging around from reading the comment and he said it lmao. It was brilliant
what a moment of flourishment
Anybody else actually pretty impressed by the ever expanding step ladder. You cant say Steve didn't come prepared.
What a terrible, terrible idea a telescoping ladder is. You'd never get me on one of those things. Whew.
Amazing, but on a tree it scares me to death! The side of a big building would be much better.
I think he had the ladder up against the tree wrong side, those middle knuckles should be facing out not towards you 😅
A fear of heights, a hanging tent and a few step twos? What could possibly go wrong😂
oh that old chestnut ! lul
I was thinking the same thing...
Come back down if you hear mariachi music and kids laughing. Or start throwing candy.
Step 3. It’s a long step.
The step twos should help with the fear.
Steve, you're taking camping to new heights. This is on a whole new level
Laugh track number 84 please
Ohhh I see what you did there lol
Elevating the camping game
I think its safe to say, we all want to go camping with Steve.
Your Canadian sense of humour is delightful!
"Pretty much impossible to burn."
*About a minute later*
"I really think I burned this."
Never change, Steve. ❤
Never say never......
Sorry steve but this had me laughing so hard
8:50 Steve attempting to use the striker then just whipping out the lighter😂😂 love this guy haha
no idea why he didn't lighter first lol. striker is emergency for when your lighter is wet
Hi, British guy here, Worcestershire sauce is pronounced as woostersheer 😉
Love your videos Steve, I love your witty comments delivered in a deadpan manner, reminds me very much of my sense of humour. This tent looks great, but wouldn't be all that great for me as I need a lot of support under my back. I have the Onetigris Tegimen hot tent that my partner and I are going to be hot tenting in for 3 nights, from today!
Just got back from living on the road for about 3 months, traveling the US, in some ways by choice and in many ways not by choice. Overall it was a great experience, but I had some tough, challenging, and scary times. Whenever I was going through it and saw one of your videos, it always put a smile on my face and kept me inspired. You're the best, Steve!
Being under chemotherapy for the past three months, I have been unable to leave my home, and your videos have been a tremendous source of relief for me. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you.
Thank you
My husband just passed away and in the months leading up to his death he went back and rewatched all of Steve's videos - I wish we could have camped together just one more time!
Stay strong. I went through 4 months of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. Cancer is beatable.
I wish you the best of health.
Positive thoughts and prayers coming your way
@Bonnie Wills sorry for your loss.
I have to admit... 2 minutes in and I'm laughing my ass off.
Steve keeping it interesting!
And I should add... what got me laughing was the beginning of the set up... wrangling the ladder and the sound of the winch.
Love ya Steve!
Me too❤
Just started watching your videos. Started with the roundabout stealth camp video and I was hooked. I'm going through a rough patch in my life, and your videos have cheered me up during this time. Thanks Steve.
The roundabout video was my 1st as well! Just saw it a couple of weeks ago and was hooked.
I wish you strength in this rough patch. Don't give up! We all experience them, it's a sad fact of life. There are better days ahead.
Same. Started with the roundabout video and was hooked.
This channel has evolved so much while still providing the same good old content. Thank you, and please, never stop doing this, Steve!
"It's gonna get weirder"... A man that knows his audience. In all honesty Steve these videos are really great mental break in all the noise of social media. Thanks for all the effort you make for us. I always take some moments to think of Jess with each video.
The slow elevation and slight spin as you went up for the first time gave me a good laugh. Thanks for another entertaining video, Steve!
I thought I've been around camping for longer than needs to be said... but this is something I have NEVER seen before. Props, Steve! This is amazing!
Steve doesn’t need much to be happy. Just a tent, some beer, and a remote-controlled battery-operated winch.
Seems accurate…;)
The long dead air pause as the tent turned and then your "now you're camping with Steve" was *chef's kiss*
Steve definitely makes it feel like we are there with him. Glad to be part of the Camping With Steve family
And I’m glad you’re part of it! Thanks for watching. Cheers:)

3:21 The peak around the corner; “Now you’re camping, with Steve” …Priceless!!!
Camping with Steve reaching new heights-- literally!!
When I feel panicked or anxious, your videos always bring me back to reality and calm me down. Thank you Steve.
Ah yes the beautiful sounds of nature followed by the grinding of the winch
I forget what species of bird but if Steve was where they are @, whatever noise they hear becomes part of their"birdsong" to attract a mate.
Not exactly minor birds but close.
Can you imagine a bird making a cranking winch noise as something!
Be almost "cackling crow" like but not really.
@@eventsotherthingswithchris9019 In southeastern Australia, the Superb Lyrebird

Everyone has made great comments on the tent, but I wanted to say how good your filming was of the creek, path and flowers. Really enjoyable. Thanks for all you do.
Steve I've been going through the hardest week of my life and I want you to know that your videos and your spirit have helped me more than anything else. Keeping your videos on helps me stay distracted and as cozy as I can hope to be. Much love, hope you are doing well with everything. Means the world to so many of us that you continue to put out awesome content to ease our troubled minds. Love you Steve! ❤️
Sleeping under the stars takes on a whole new meaning with a hanging tent. It's like having your own private hammock hotel room in the sky. Just remember to bring your dreams, as the view comes complimentary.
It's always a good day when it's time to go Camping with Steve.
It’s a privilege to join you on these adventures Steve. Thank you for all your efforts and your hard work
Thank you kindly!
Steve I just want to thank you for being here for us. Not all hero’s wear capes. Thank you for your videos.
Steve if you do this again you should also attach a fall arrestor between the tent and the top tethers. This way if the winch let’s go the fall arrester will catch you.
Also, talkin about a rude awakening if the straps failed and the winch came crashing down. 😳
This man is the reason I’ve busted out my old gear and went camping twice in the last month. Hunker Down!!! 👍😎
Steve is the friend we all wish we had. Luckily, he makes you feel like a friend.
I have the most awesome property and a hundred people that say they love to camp. I don't have a river or lake, but the forest here is like Narnia. You think one of them will show up and camp? People only SAY they want to camp. When it comes down to it, not really.
My 3 time watching Steve, great when he was lighting a fire, then said , right, and just pulls out a Lighter 😆 live the nature of it and his dry wit, stay safe out yonder ❤️
I love the Dwarf Rose at 7:05! I'm a flower guy that takes pictures of every pretty flower that I see on the side of the road, and proceed to Google image search so I can sound smart when I point them out to people as we drive by....so this got me excited lol
Love when Steve does stuff like this, but I also hope he doesn’t feel pressured into having to come up with this stuff. A simple car camping trip with a new dinner idea works for us!

Thanks for being wacky for those of us who no longer can be... ❤❤❤❤❤
I laughed my ass off when you poked your head out and said and now you're camping with Steve. What a genuine dude. Thank you Steve
Man, that is one sketchy-looking ladder. What Steve gets up to with random stuff from Amazon and stuff from Canadian Tire and Princess Auto never ceases to amaze. Now you're Camping With Steve!
It's not meant to be put out long like that at all. Poor Steve risking it all for us. Plus the tree on the right was swaying something worrying.
It's been a really rough day, but somehow watching Steve's videos always brings me peace. Reminds me of finding joy in the simple things :)
Wow the ambience of that spot is amazing. Crackling fire with the flowing creek below you. Just amazing. Some things in this world just need to be appreciated.
hey Steve this was a classic. i think you help people a lot more than you know. i work 2 jobs and you help me unwind at the end of a long day and bring some much needed calm into my brain. i know that maybe sometimes the grief can seem endless but just know we're grateful for what you do. thanks
Great comment my friend. I love the content that Steve brings us too. I'm literally in Texas visiting my father for the last time in my life and lost my mom and aunt in the last week. Now cancer with my father and he seems to think he has a year left in him. So, wills and lawyers. Plans for the finish and then along comes Steve with a step two. So bourbon and a video that makes me happy and laugh. Hang in there buddy!! We are resilient and we can survive anything with a little love.
God speed
I am using Steve’s video right now to relax before dinner. This is why RUclips exists.
Steve, I have no idea how, but pretty sure you've managed to camp in every possible scenario/environment. All while making fantastic pieces of art!
RUclips recommended the U-Haul stealth video. After that, I watched Boondocking and have been watching each video in order. I'm caught up to 2 years ago currently. This is awesome. Thank you for your efforts.

Great idea. Gets you off the ground and away from any vermin, overly curious critters, and dangerous predators. Just do not forget where you are if you have to get out to take a whizz in the middle of the night.
Just remember to change into fresh clothes before going to bed. The perspiration your cloths absorb during the day will act like an evaporation cooler at night when you are not active. And yes, if you are dressed to stay warm when it is cold, you will still perspire as you go about your day.

Steve: "Clearly these are not meant to actually be camped in."
Most people see that as a deterrence. Steve hears that and says: "Hold my Step 2"
"Why not?...."
I was going to suggest this one. Fact is, 12 feet above ground you will likely be undetected as people seldom look up unless they are bir or plane watchers. And once dark you vanish completely. I think with an infrrared heater you can keep warm and cook without lighting upo your location.

"If anyone notices my setup, they'll probably just thinks it's aliens."
Just a word of warning for anyone trying this - *that slack in the line between the trees is absolutely vital for safety!* The tighter those straps are, the more force there is trying to uproot those trees and with tight lines, it's easily possible for the roots to yield and the trunk to fall right on top of the tent with predictable and often tragic results. There are a few cases like that every year, don't be one of them and keep at least a 30° angle between the line and the ground.
Noted....for when I cacoon camp🤔
Instructions unclear tighten straps to the upmost leaving no slack possible close ya eyes night night enjoy falling asleep in your comfy chillaxing whatever steves in rn and if it’s your time, in the wisest words I’ve yet to heAR nor say “AHHHH SOMEBODY HELP there’s a tree falling on me” I’m so high I just realised this is no time for jokes RIP to all those lives lost like this, poor uneducated souls just never had a chance. Taken by tree.
@@kurtkemp696 I'd link to some articles, but YT doesn't like that. Usually it's poorly set up slacklines or hammocks. I've seen at least one case where a chimney collapsed on a young couple in a hammock for the same reason, killing one and seriously injuring the other. Completely avoidable...
@@WiegrafFolles While the trees aren't small, they've got quite shallow roots against a long lever. If you added the force amplification from a tight line, they very possibly could fall. As I wrote already, it happens a few times every year - precisely because people fail to consider leverage as you just did.
Bruh. Calm down
