- In episode 1 of this Arizona Coues deer adventure, Randy Newberg is flying down to Tucson and things start off on the wrong foot right away. Upon arriving, he finds out his Howa rifle didn't make it from Salt Lake. On top of that, the 4 wheel drive vehicle he reserved isn't available, so he is stuck with a 2 wheel drive suburban.
The next morning he heads out well before daylight to find a place to hike in. Right away he locates deer, but just plenty of does. Randy gets up a glassing knob for the morning and scans the whole basin until late morning.
He decides to press on and continue to cover more country, to hopefully turn up a buck. To his surprise he see a mountain lion with 2 cubs not far from his glassing point. After watching the lions scurry off, and taking a midday nap, Marcus spots a buck across the basin. Randy locates an even bigger on nearby, and the hunt is on. Randy has the chance to finally punch a tag on a public land coues deer.

I finally got my first Coues Deer. Did anybody else get a first of anything this season?
I got my first cow elk
I’ve always been the guy wondering why everyone around me is shooting except me. This is the first year I shot my buck the first 10 minutes of light on opening day!
That was a surprise as I have watched your series hunting these guys several times along with the quail, antelope jackrabbits, javalena, ducks, etc. Guess the ones harvested never got your tag affixed to them. Congrats 👏
i shot my first ground hog this year
First elk and first archery deer
So good to have Randy back. The channel isn't the same without you!
The two vehicles that will go anywhere - the M1A1 Bradley and a rental car!
We had a guy bring a h2 hummer that was a rental. Alot "don't worry its a rental" comments and a stick in the transmission to plug a hole. Llok
Nothin party's like a rental
I always love how Randy pays respect to each and every animal!
The TSA is a joke, a bad one. Us old folks remember flying before they existed.
So cool glassing that cat with her 2 little ones!
So nice to see a guy hunting with a true sporting rifle, to many young guys feel the need to tote around a 15lb long range precision rifle when its completely unnecessary for someone willing to use basic hunting skills such as stalking. Well done Randy, keep it up and keep traditions alive.
Mr. Newberg is one cool customer, I'd of lost my composure with the airport fiasco between the delayed luggage and wrong rental reservation. One kool Kat getting to observe another big Cool cat in the wild!
Took my 5 & 6 year old boys whitetail hunting for the first time this year. We didn’t get anything but they enjoyed it and how excited they got when some does walked by was worth it all
I like the appreciation of the lions , and a regular shot rather than shooting so far it doesn't seem sporting.
The lions were cool. As for the shot, still trying to figure out what happened the first shot. Embarrassing as heck. I practice that shot hundreds of times at our range, and I toss a complete airball.
Welcome back to Az. I've been waiting for this year's outing!
Can't wait to see some episodes with Jerry and the boys...
Congratulations on your first Coues!
So glad to have you back Randy. Looking healthy and fit. Could tell it was Marcus behind the camera, great footage. Get some much needed rest, and hard at it for Marcus.
Congratulations Randy! Good to see you back after it. Hope your feeling better.
I love watching your videos. Shot my first Coues Deer in 1961. Taken quite a few since. Years ago I would fill my tag on desert mule deer then then hunt Coues on a left.over tag. God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏❤ Got drawn for the late December 2021 hunt this year....Wish me luck.
Glad to see you back at it Randy, you were missed.
Welcome back Randy!! We all missed you!!!!
Nice going Randy. Glad to see you back at it!
Good to be back.
I too Welcome you Back!! We all missed you.
The golden trio, Randy, the Camera and Magic Marcus. Glad for you boys. Wel done.
Welcome back Randy missed you and all your wisdom and of course your witty humor keep up the great work
Nice buck! Brings back good memories of hunting south of Tucson with my dad!
Loved listening to the podcast first then watching it.
Congratulations Randy! Awesome buck
Great hunt Randy and Marcus,
God to see u back in Arizona.
Congrats Randy!! And that lion was awesome!!
Yes it was!
Randy and Marcus have to be the greatest duo. I wish I could see that back and forth in between shots😂
Good to see a video with Randy in it again.
What an opening video!! Congrats Randy! Such a beautiful deer. Got to give those felines a lot of respect. Incredibly graceful, beautiful, powerful and such efficient hunters. I keep telling people that they would much rather not be seen. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Great deer! And congrats on your first Coues! Such a hard little deer to hunt but you stuck with it👏
Thanks!
First bow deer! First swan, first turkey and first antelope all on north dakota! Awsome hunt and video!
Good stuff!
Awesome video Randy and congrats. Good to see you on a hunting video again. Enjoy the other guys hunts but you’re the king!
Nice follow up shot Randy. Dandy buck too!

Congratulations Randy. Another successful hunt and great video. Love watching you and your team(s) doing these videos. You are a true inspiration to me and absolutely an outstanding conservationists. God bless you and the guys and keep you safe in all future hunts and travels.
Love the bullet trace shots!
Wow! Incredible footage of the mountain lion and cubs. That's worth the trip right there.
Yes, it was a really neat experience. Not one I'll forget.
The lions were an awesome sight!
randy is a beast! glad your back bruh!
Congrats on your first Coues. Making the best of what was available, you made your success. Excellent camera work. Awesome to see the Mt. lions. First class episode all the way.
Thanks so much!
Such a fascinating sub species of whitetail deer & make for a challenging, exciting & fun hunt
Yep, they sure are fun to hunt.
Glad to see someone else likes to fire a warning shot first! Good job.
Welcome back Randy! Been coues deer hunting 2x on my own. Saw some the first hunt but no shot as I got rained out. Missed one on the 2nd hunt across a canyon.
Great hunt. Normal. Real. It always comes down to just moving forward regardless of what Time and Chance, and the Norns that thrive in Mother Nature throw at one.
Randy i am 82 stell hunting. some times life sucks but it is what it is. just keep on going it will get worse.
Love the crew, but nice to have you back Randy!!! Also, congrats, FINALLY you got one 🎉🎉🎉😁👍👍I'm from Tucson but in Colorado for the last 20 yrs
Randy you're officially a Coues Killer. Congrats 👏
The Deer is dead Thank and Praise God. For giving you the opportunity and the Health to harvest this buck 😀
great job RANDY!!!!
Congrats on your first Coues deer Randy! And cool Mountain Lion sightings! I have been hunting, fishing and hiking since I was a little kid and have yet to see one!
Thanks. I hope you see one. They are really cool.
Great couse deer 👍
Congratulations on your first couse deer in AZ!!!!
The “royal flush” attitude will always treat you right. Nice work Randy.
Awesome hunt, those are some cool little deer. Thanks for keeping it real, love all the footage from your hunts.
Glad you enjoyed
When i saw the country you were going to be hunting i literally thought to myself "better get a lion tag"! LOL (Lots of Lions)!
Congrats on your first Coues...they're every bit as good to eat as elk!
Heck yea randy congrats I’ve yet to fill my archery tag this year nor last but still hitting hard every chance I can get away from work hopefully his weekend is the one I’ve been chasing I nice mule deeer just a little north of there 37b
👍🏻 Thanks for the nice clip!
Congrats Randy!! Great first buck, always a pleasure to see the respect you show your quarry. Maybe next time a lion tag in your pocket? That's a little too close for comfort in the dark! Again congratulations!!
They know how to TAKE the reservation, they just don't know how to KEEP the reservation !
"and that’s really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them"
Good job, Sir. Still hoping I'll run into y'all out here one day.
I just saw you in Tucson! Hope all went well.
Congrats Randy🦌🦌🦌
Congrats Randy
Congratulations on your first coues deer!!
Thank you Dave.
Mountain lions, bears, etc are fantastic to see... through your binoculars. Coming upon them when they are that close and at night?! The pucker factor goes to eleven!
Good job keep it up
Hadn't seen you pull out the sleeper hold before. Best I've seen since Roddy Pipper. Congrats on the great deer!
love all your videos
Thanks Ben.
Mountain lions awesome, Frist one awesome.
wow! two mountain lions in one trip! I saw my first one about 100 yards away in Southern California on the Christmas Day. Beautiful animals but nothing I'd wish to see at night. :P
Someday I have got to get down there and hunt those things. Great video.
You should!
Congratulations
Running into a mountain lion on the hike out in the dark is my worst nightmare.
Yeah they got a few man eaters down that way in Tucson.
Good one love your videos
Glad you like them!
Didn’t know there were any firsts left for this legend 😉
The old guy had to pre warm the barrel ha 😄🤣👍
Like the one and done commercial 👊🏻
Great job randy
Thanks.
Congrats Randy. AZ is tough country. Quail are DElishish!!!
That was awesome
I love it. I live in Tucson so you're in my backyard. Great to see you finally get one of them. Also try flying into Phoenix next time. The better flight options and much better rental car facility will typically make up for the extra drive you would have.
Now that was insperational. I am about Randy age haven't done something like that in awhile
First Couse Deer and so far your largest Randy? Gotta love your Minnesota and now Montana Optimism lol.
Antelope! With the bow! 68 6/8 idaho goat. It was awesome.
Congrats Randy! For a second after the first shot there, I thought your scope might have been bumped after finding it a jar after the fight.
GREAT video good sir!! I've lived in Arizona for a year now and I'll be putting in for a Cow Elk Tag and Pronghorn tag for the 2021 season. I'd love to meet ya whenever you're back in Arizona! Keep up the GREAT work! Much respect and support from Yuma, AZ. 👍👍
What units you talking?
If you go,5a - 6b or 27 or especially 7E I may have some tips for you
Got my first bag of Big Hank today, looking forward to waking up to some.
Never have been able to hunt cous deer. Looks like fun though. Enjoyed the video.
Congrats! Coues are on my list...
Got my first Mtn. Goat (also first animal with a bow) and first Black Bear this year.
Two things:
* That Cougar footage was way cool
* I need a Marcus on my spotting team.
I shot my first big game animal in October. Decent size mule deer fork with a Howa 1500 6.5 Creedmoor and Leupold VX-3i.
Also, a couple years ago my son and I were out calling for coyotes. We managed to call in a mountain lion to 60 yards. It was awesome!
Worked my whole life to finally take time to go elk and mule deer hunt this year and got exposed to covid the day before I was supposed to leave and couldn't take the chance on exposing someone else gad to spend my 1st vacation in 15 years quarantined well I'll try again next season congratulations Randy
Oh man. Was it draw? If so, did they work something out or do you lose it?
Woooooo hooooo Randy!!!
