  • Randy and his friends, David Brinker, Sam Soholt, Brian "Gritty Bowmen Call, Hank Shaw, Holly Heyser, Johnathan O'Dell and Wade Zarlingo are all in camp and now it's time to get serious about deer, rabbits, quail, ducks, and all other edible species to be found in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona.
    Randy is switching things up, making a deal with Brian Call that Brian can have any Coues bucks they see, giving Randy first dibs on any Coatimundi. Brian glasses up a "Coati" and the chase is on.
    Wade takes Hank and Holly to pursue more Mearn's quail. Whatever the pursuit, the chase will be fun and the cooking will be excellent......even a Coatimundi.

    That was hysterical, watching all the coatamundis running right past the guy who was aiming an arrow at "the only coatamundi in the state of Arizona" down below him! Stunning scenery, lovingly photographed. And I love the slooooow-moooo drinking scenes (The dog. The dog! Drinking water!) Thanks a lot!

    Great video. I liked the humility of the hunters. These animals are tough to find and stalk, and they'll often make a fool of you. Sometimes you just have to roll with it and laugh.

    So now my morning routine is wake up, grab a coffee and wait till these videos are posted. If I ever saw a coati before this series, I'd be questioning myself on what I saw.

    I just found out about a ringtail cat in Nevada, now this species called a Coatimundi. I am learning that the west have a lot of animals that most don't know about. BTW thanks for the information about the beer Natty Ice it is.lol I remember you saying you can't chicken fry a hare. Hank trying to see if I can make some other dishes with jackrabbits since we have so many here.

    Hi Randy. I have a fairly personal question: How do you keep in good shape? I know its tough to climb mountains, and carry backpacks etc, and that probably is more than needed exercizing. But guess you dont hunt all the time, so how do you keep in shape, and make yourself ready for the tough hunts?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 лет назад +4

      I'm a CPA and it is tax season now, so I don't get much exercise this time of year. Once tax season is over I try to do a two hour hike five days per week. That gets me back in shape for hunting season better than anything I have found. By August I'm pretty much ready to go.

    Man I have got to go there one day and do this, do you need to draw a tag for a cous deer for non resident or is it OTC?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 лет назад

      Archery deer is OTC. Rifle is a draw, but often with left overs. You should go there.

    Randy, we Mexicans call the Coati’s CHULOS... translation (beautiful). Don’t ask me why but, I do think the are beautiful; keep your bird dogs away from them they will kill a dog. You need to come on a hunt with me... I know you hunt public land but, you need to come hunt with me on private land in The Valley... have you chase one of the big mule deer in private property 🦌.

    Can't believe you shot a rare animal like that did you keep it or just leave it lay you must not be from az to do something like that how disappointing is this video wow

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 лет назад +10

      @john mac - As Justin said, it is not a rare animal. We ate it. See the video segment that starts around 17:00. It was very good. If you don't like people hunting for their food , then this channel is probably going to be low on your viewing list.
      We choose to hunt for our food and take responsibility for the deaths of the animals that feed us. I understand if others prefer to pay for that process being handled by someone else. I make no judgement of whether they choose to procure their own food, buy it, or whatever means.
      Hunting these animals is highly regulated by AZ Game and Fish. Requires licenses, season dates, use of the meat, etc.

      john mac they are not rare.if you hunted near the border and new how to hunt southern Arizona. Which meens glassing. Ie ( sitting with a very large view of the area behind high quality optics).binnoculars and spotting scopes mounted on a good tripod you would see them. I've seen them many times there.i have no desire to shoot one but u are allowed one per year I believe in Arizona hunting regulations.I also saw a picture of one a friend took much farther north near prescott valley.most nonhunters dont see what hunters see all the time. Even hikers don't take the time and observe nature like a true hunter. We love the animals and the wild places they live.its in our DNA .

    I honestly don’t know why you kill the ringtails. For what? It’s like the quail hunters who shoot rabbits every chance they get, jacks or cottontails. IDK, no respect for anything, and yes I’m a hunter and been hunting for as many years as you been on the planet.
