I've been in love with Third Eye Blinds first album since the first time I heard it 20 years ago. I never listened to any other. But then my son introduced me to Crystalballer...and I fell in love with them all over again. Great song!
I don't know how people don't understand this, this sings to a point in everyones life, even if you don't understand the words. "Some get it, some must wait a while".
Isn't it just another break up song by these guys (an EXTREMELY awesome break up song)? Yeah I'm simplifying it but the song's not hard to decipher... It's love lost then reflection, a recurring theme in third eye blind's music and hence why they are one of my favorites
this is what the back up vocals are saying Try and take the high road (some get it, some must wait a while, some get it) Remember we were friends (some get it, some must wait a while, some get it) I want be your Crystal Baller (some get it, some must wait a while, some get it) I want be your diamond ring (some get it, some must wait a while, some get it)
what's said in the background? Like, there's someone singing something, but I can't tell what's being said...but this was a cik video nonetheless! I now know why I couldn't understand some of what Stephen Jenkins was singing b/c some of the words just like blend together, like freakin' wow, that guy knows how to write some pretty complicated lyrix!!!
@duncanmn95 o yea i have no idea like at 1:45 if no one know what hes talking about its like in the backround but its said at the same time and thats just the backround so it doesnt rly matter to much. and suscribe!
Its funny, Third eye blind is notorious for stellar music, but cryptic lyrics. I like it when you make your own meaning out of it. but sadly, the REAL idea behind the song is probably more mundane.
To be fair, meth addiction doesn't necessarily preclude the ability to be profound, most are not like the obvious tweakers. I still love the song regardless
Yeah, the song is good, its just, you hear the words without the context and you come up with a much more open or personalized perception of the song, then you find its about meth, which you can't relate to. I remember the lyrics from deep inside of you. "I would change myself if I could, I'd walk with my people, if I could find them." this spoke to me, having gone through school with aspergers and having no way to fit anywhere nor change the mapping that I was stuck with. of course the song is more about a romantic longing rather than the wish to change, fit in a function.
For sure I totally get what you mean, I think it goes for most music. For example, one of my favourites lyrically is Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel and my personalized meaning has to do with psychosis (something I have struggled with for almost a year) and the smooth departure and then harsh return to reality. I'm sure what he is actually singing about is very different, but that doesn't affect the personal meaning for me; though of course I can only speak for myself. Similarly this song strikes a cord with me because mania is very, very similar to what is lyrically described and equally destructive to one's life when compared to meth (which I have admittedly tried on two occasions when very depressed and alone and can say it's not quite as wild as one may think hence the insidiousness).
Yeah. Basically it's about getting over mistake made and embracing the new day. Crystal baller obviously in reference to crystal ball as in, let me show you your future and how great it can be. Can we try and take the high roads, though we don't know where it ends. Meaning stay positive and go for your dreams and the sky is limitless. You're welcome.
It's about meth. Week to weakness way out in a line, homesick for your primal knowing, Macrame queens in the afternoon, punch-drunk off somebody's joke. All experiences of a meth addict.

Been screaming this song with the strat all day!! just covered it in our set friday at the local dive! 🎤
Since Third Eye Blind has a history about writing songs about drugs and girls. Going to take a guess that Crystal baller refers to drugs.
+DanielEllis72 absolutely does! lol

from week to weakness, way our in a line are lyrics in a song called crystal baller. i think this dude has hit the meth pretty hard over the years
blk7088 Yeah, that's what Semi-Charmed Life was about.
As a meth addict I can see a connection to most of their songs.
'From weak to weakness' I think

It's about meth. My personal take being he's talking to a newbie
yeah, that's the disappointing part . most of these lyrics could be super profound with a more open subject matter... but so many are about meth...

Look to the future with today's trends from yesterday and tell me whats stuck..
@Traci101able Thank you like subscribe and tell ya friends haha
@3:19
It would have been nice to have the lyrics for the background vocals. Not that it matters with TEB, most of their lyrics don't make sense.
The lyrics to this song make perfect sense lol
backing lyrics for chorus is "some get it, some must wait a while, some get it"
does anyone know the meaning of this song"?????? i am dying to know!

@@TheCtenoMan007 .. exactly
@@TheCtenoMan007 As a meth addict I can verify this lol
I didn't realize until now that like ALL their songs are methamphetamine adjacent
going from week to weakness to me refers to the dwindling of testosterone the older you get.
