As a 70 year old, I can say that I've heard a lot of great music over the years. But I gotta say, this album is among the best of all time. Every single song hits deep... very deep.
This song reminds me of when I was deeply depressed and heavily medicated. My brother used to play this all the time. He was on meds too. I was always terrified he would harm himself. We are both still here and doing better.

I've dealt with addiction to Oxy Contin for a long time and when I was 18 me and my 17 year old younger brother, who was without a doubt my best friend in the whole world, went to sleep after using and when I woke up the next morning I found that he died hours before and that I was sleeping next to my brither's lifeless body all night and it almost pushed me over the edge... And today I'm sober and I credit this song for helping me through some unbelievably depressing times... Still hurting over my brother as if he just died yesterday... I miss my little bro so damn much...

Yeah, it’s about the struggles that life throws at people. Luckily, you’re probably not someone who has had to deal with a lot of trauma growing up, which leads to these circumstances.
I've struggled with suicide for years my sister killed herself and I used to think that was the way out of this pain but everytime I hear this song its like therapy for me I grab my air guitar and scream it at the top of my lungs once or twice and cry as loud as I want and it brings me back somehow I can finally pray for help and hope comes in! For any songstress you know that's like when sometimes only a song can express the hurt you can't find the words but a melody can everything about this song is uplifting! thank God for the movie yes man!

Lost my brother in 2018 to suicide. I think about him just about everyday still. Wish I would’ve known he was suffering from depression. We had no idea. I miss him so damn much. Love you brother. See you at the pearly gates.

Im ex military, was seriously injured in a non-combat related accident, and ever since I've felt like a failure. When i was in I often would talk about becoming a police officer, but after the accident, i totally lost control of my life. I feel that the years i lost in the service have let the world around me force me into a rut that i will never recover from. I havent and dont think ill ever fully accept what happened to me, and im reminded every day by the scars. All my friends back home have completely moved on with their lives and I lost most ties with the people ive served with. My wife is the only person in my life whos always been right by my side...but she has no idea how much I just want to give up.

I served with a guy who took his own life years ago. I never got a chance to say good-bye to you Mike. Please, if anyone is thinking about doing the same, think about the pain you will cause to the ones you leave behind. We will literally do anything to help you in your situation. Don't do it. I think that the only reason I am still here is because of what it would do to my wife and kids. I am not "suicidal" but sometimes just getting it all over with seems like the best option. it passes, but that feeling of being backed into a corner sucks.
As someone who didn’t serve in the US army but sees that a huge number of veterans from the Wars in the Middle East and Central Asia are committing suicide. Do you think that guilt is a factor- especially since at the end the war that politicians sold never ended being won. I’d understand if feeling of survivor guilt and being purposeless after coming home has a factor. But doesn’t the fact that you fight in a war by occupying a country and the “good guys” (ANA or Iraqi army) seem terrible too and basically you fight in a civil war and helping one side. Wouldn’t this bring about guilt for the things you do and see for this very amorphous goal of “bringing democracy” or “fighting terror”. Basically do you think disillusionment and guilt have a factor to play for this epidemic of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and other places.

The first time I heard this song I was a toddler, strapped into the seat of my parents red Subaru surrounded by my older siblings. I remember everyone being genuinely happy, and I remember my parents joking and smiling while the song faintly played in the background. It’s one of the only times I’ve seen my parents together and happy let alone my family. 15 years later my parents are divorced and my siblings live across the country and don’t bother to say hi. It gets hard sometimes but oh well duck it

I was having a really shitty month, all my friends were leaving for college and I am stuck at home with my parents working and waiting for a better day. One night when I couldn't sleep and a cricket hidden somewhere in the room was driving me crazy I decided to listen to some music to calm myself down and hopefully get some sleep... With sleeplessness comes those stupid thoughts and memories that make you hate yourself, and hate yourself more and more, before then I had already been contemplating suicide. Then this song came on shuffle and I cried, but it felt good, because I hadn't been able to cry for what seemed like years. It was like all those feelings of hate and sadness and depression were all warded off when this song came on, and suddenly I felt human again.

My dad took me to a concert when I was 11. It was Third Eye Blind, The Wallflowers, and Del Amitri. Little did I know third eye blind would be one of the biggest acts in the country just a year later. My dad got me in because he knew the owner of the club I had to sit on a balcony intended for the owner and his friends the entire time but it was awesome.
This is also a great song to help you lose addictions. Anytime, you feel like you've lost control, and are about to give in to your addiction, just listen to this song!
It's like you (from moments of clarity) telling your present vulnerable self to "step back from that ledge" and not give in.
It can be a plea to yourself in those moments to avoid self sabotage.

Pandora did it again... I just today saw how my crush completely bonded with an other guy and by the night they were completely clued to each other. Felt devastated seeing it, wasn't planning anything stupid, just this song somehow perfectly comforted me and helped me calm down when I got home. Thank you Pandora, thank you, I can now actually feel like I am able to sleep tonight.

About a month ago I was on a walk on a small local mountain, and I was seriously thinking of just throwing myself over the edge of the cliff. I stood there for twenty or thirty minutes on the edge just feeling so tired of myself, before I decided to just walk back down and drive home.
I turned the radio on to the usual local station I listen to, and this song came on the radio about two minutes after starting my car. I know it's pretty gay and doesn't actually mean anything beyond a coincidence, but I'll remember that.
The cool thing is now I can actually just choose to listen to this song whenever I want and make the choice to change my emotional state. I can't predict the future or guarantee I'll always have 100% control over myself so I won't do something like this, and I have zero judgment for anyone who follows through with it, except for wishing that things could've been different. But I'm definitely going to try and live as if I do have 100% control over the decisions I make, whether that's true or not.

Sadly cancer was the one who took him away. He was like a little brother to me... I realized while looking at pictures the other day.... I'm starting to forget his face... it's only been 4 years. About the same amount of time I knew him, but you can get really close to someone in that amount of time... Now I feel hurt all over again.. I haven't made friends since he passed away, and he was the one I talked to about all my problems..

"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" As a suicide prevention counselor, I gotta tell you, that's not true. Some people are living with lifelong issues (say, a reckless driver crushed you and you're permanently disabled and in severe physical pain every instant of every day for the rest of your life in a human body; you can't take a vacation from it) - and they feel really minimized when they hear this cliché. I was taught in my training to say that to people, and while it's certainly true in some cases that life-threatening problems are transitory - they'll go away - some, like the example I cited, are not going to go away until the person dies. In those instances, actually in all instances, really listening and supporting the person is crucial. Platitudes aren't always helpful. Acknowledging and understanding the circumstances each person is struggling with, struggling under, and their pain about it, is ultimately what helps everyone get through.

I work at a local, county hotline - I totally understand your feelings about calling a national crisis center - it feels impersonal and overwhelming, or can feel that way. bruh bro I really feel you. I live with chronic pain and it constantly puts me into very deep depression. I've been in and out of mental units and put on meds all to no avail. I live each day knowing that I would be better off dead. My family is struggling because of my slack and how I cannot function in society. I consider often just taking all my pain meds and drifting into the abyss. That or just one shot to the head. I don't know what holds me back honestly. My family yearns for me to get better and supports me greatly, but I don't know why that can't be enough to pull me through. I remember almost a year ago. I tried to commit suicide. The things that lead to it and the result. Self hatred and inflicted pain. I felt like trash. Useless because everyone looked down at me. Getting molested in 6th grade and bullied for most. I felt depressed and alone. Holding my pain for so long and one Night i decided to end it all. My little brother caught me before í was completely out. I was taken to the hospital. I just couldn't believe í traumatized my 15 year old brother. After that, my girlfriend whom í devoted everything to lost interest and we broke up. So that did not help. Two of my friends passed away because of a stroke and seizure. Now my mom has lymphoma and my brother is in risk of falling into a coma. I have to live for them. They need me as í need them. I am now 17 yrs old almost 18 in two months. Life is a blessing and it's filled with hard ships. #Suicide doesn't end pain, it only passes the pain over to your loved ones.

I get it...I not only contemplated suicide, I intentionally overdosed on Vicodin and Jack Daniels. It is amazing that songs like this can be so influential. I love the entry LVGarrett99 added..."Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem." When you are at the lowest of lows, you are not thinking with complete logic. I felt if I needed to ask for help it made me weak. Luckily, I survived and found that I actually had some people who were true friends and did not judge me,but to my surprise, were there to support me.
I only add this entry in the hopes that I can help someone else who believes there is nothing worth living for and truly believes there is no one that would understand or support them.

I remember hearing this song on 30 minutes or less during the credits 5 years ago after i graduated from high school
Last summer my friend and left our houses and went biking in our empty nighttime town at 2 am. As we were halfway across the train bridge a 25 or so year old man was sitting on the edge of the bridge and was playing this song. I guess we were sorta intimidated by the mysterious guy playing music on the bridge so we continued across. About 15 minutes we decided to go back and see if he was there. He wasn’t but his phone and music was still there. It was such a horrible feeling, If I had to guess he jumped but hopefully he just decided to leave his stuff there and leave. Anyway about 15 minutes ago I watched the movie yes man. Holy fuck it made me feel so weird. I immediately recognized this song. Its a weird feeling.
