I 100% agree. I listened to this song countless times sitting in my car in high school. It probably saved my life to be honest bc it let me know it was ok to feel alone.
In high school my best friends and I used to drive around our small town listening to this song. Whenever I hear it I’m instantly transported back to those summer nights. “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”
I totaled a 93 Grand Prix at 16yrs. old listening to this song. On my way to school, I flipped the car upside down into the woods and down a small hill. I specifically recall the song never skipping a beat in my 6 disc cd changer in the trunk. This song will always be epic to me, even in my epic fail!!!
This was the first CD I ever had in my life. My sister gave it to me for my 11th birthday. I knees all the songs, and when I finally saw them in Houston a few years ago, they played this album front to back. So grateful for that experience.
May 28th, 1999.....first kiss...went for it, and she loved me too....she moved 1000+ miles away the next day....came home, listened to this, and cried till I couldn't breathe...never made a connection like that again.
You guys didn’t keep in contact at all on the phone or internet? It’s never been easier to find someone thanks to social media. You could always try to find her.
I loved it when i was a kid and i actually love it more now. This album is nothing but good songs all the way through. I honestly couldnt tell you another album they did, though.
@@renegarcia9420 I agree that this is the most beautiful vocal song in English that I've ever heard. Rene, Nathan, and Jynnie: I wish you and your families prosperous, long lives, Trip Seibold
This song is personal to me because I had an experience like this with a girl. The funny thing we were listening to this album in my car and went straight to this song saying it was her favorite. I never really played much attention to this particular track before then. It was 2008 so old even then. It perfectly personified our relationship.
Was just walking around the streets of Milan on vacation and it came to me that this is the second part of Blinded. Not sure if this is common knowledge to TEB fans and I just thought of it independently or what, but I think the shared symbolism once you figure out is so cool. Love this song!
This song reminds me of a 20 year old secret that I could never reveal but onto one. I hope she remembers the good times we shared. Life don't work out sometimes...
This song always reminds me of when was driving cross country smuggling marijuana for a living... I never knew what city I was in, Cali kids referred to the east coast as Babylon (cause, “New York City’s evil”) and cigarette ashes as well as the rising and setting Sun were always in my eyes. “I’ve never been so alone, and I’ve never been so alive”
Trying to learn the picking on this song…. This is a cd I keep in my 2011 Dodge Caravan when I get a chance to rock out and be introspective. 1997 was so great.
Robert Kanedy, Thank you for listing this video. This is the most beautiful English song with lyrics that I've heard. Don't Stop Believin' by Journey is close, but the instrumental portion doesn't quite reach the level of beauty of this song. Neither 3EB nor Journey are in my top 3 musical artist groups though. I wish you and your family prosperous, long lives, Trip Seibold (Robert III)
This cd lol my childhood. 3EB was a good example of band that is misrepresented by their "popular" i.e shitty songs. If you ever hear a band with singles that you like, check out their actual album, you will always find songs 15x better than the singles - especially with a 90s band. Toadies, Sublime, Harvey Danger, Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, Third Eye Blind, Tonic, Better than Ezra, Tool, Deftones, Korn, LimpBizkit, and plenty of others fit this description.
omg same...my car at the time ate the cd, and wouldn't give it back. It was really symbolic. At first. It would still play, but after a few months, it wouldn't even turn on anymore. It's as though it was weaning me off of her...

The hard part is "never been so alive". At first, it's that even though the pain seems unbearable, it really does make you feel completely alive, that there's a point, that it's more than the daily shit. Over time, you feel free from someone who treated you like shit, and that's the best part. When you can really say "I'm not thinking of you again." Then, 20 years from now, you look back, and it's just a distant memory that makes you smile, and you can laugh at it. People change, perspective changes, but love doesn't. If it does, it wasn't love.
so very true.the girl that didn't realize what she had and left it.thats why he says he is so alone yet so alive.i myself am going through this episode.i gave her the opportunity to choose.and she choose him.y?she said he is the father of her child and he has vowed not to love the child or see him once we are together.so after 33 months of giving her my time and soul she left and said she is giving up her happiness for her son.imagine he is a 44 year old doctor, she is a 29 year old nurse and im a 35 year old police officer.so its 4weekes since she left and though it hurts I told her love isn't to be blackmailed, nor bought(HE PROMISED HER A CAR,HOUSE,MONEY AND A BABY)it must come natural.finally for the 33months that we were together he harassed her constantly and for nothing would she take it out a restraing order on him, instead she said if she did that he would leave the country and her wouldn't know his dad.so I finally got fed up and gave her a choice and she took it.but I told her he never loved,he is just OBSSED and I would show REAL LOVE in that though I DONT LIKE her decision I WILL RESPECT IT and not HARASS HER LIFE.so its27 days and counting.and you know what im not doing to BAD!thank you for letting me share my story.
Love absolutely does not work that way!! You are a blessing and he is a nightmare....shouldn't have been a choice, child or no child. She is putting up with it and allowed him to do all of that to her and your relationship. If she truly wanted love....those possessions wouldn't have enticed her away. I'm sorry for your heartache. Third Eye Blind are extremely underrated, always have been.
Which is good.
It’s great music, it’s beautiful..everyone should know of this music. Underrated....indeed!
This comment is also underrated
Seriously. My ex used to play their albums and they have so many hidden gems that weren’t played on the radio.
Why would you think that 3EB is extremely under rated? One of the greatest band in the world...
One of their best songs . Still playing it loud and singing it out of key.
Maybe you should just play it loud then. no one likes when person sings off key
