WELCOME TO DESTINY. I already know what a lot of you are thinking. What could I possibly tell you about the world of Destiny that you don't already know.
First off, there's two types of people you're gonna meet in the world of Destiny. Those that lived through the trauma and the absolute horror of year 1, and those who have joined or REJOINED US in this golden age of Destiny. Or like I call it, “Bestiny”. Like it or not - make no mistake, this is the best the world of Destiny has ever been.
But it wasn't always like this. You may not believe it, but in my day you only had 2 types of game modes you could play. Supremacy or Supremacy. On top of that, a single match of competitive went on for what seemed like years. There was no 6v6. No private matches, no gambit. No secrets, no quests, no bounties, No loot to chase - and the shaders. Oh god the shaders. Worst of all - there was no fun.
See my job here today noobies, is to tell you the truth. About the highs and lows of all that is destiny. Orientation is all about preparing you for what you will experience, so you don't end up with Destiny PTSD like so many of the veterans.
But just like everyday life, if you only focus on the bad, then you end up missing out on all the good. See, Destiny is proof that just because something starts off really bad, doesn't mean it can't be molded into something incredibly good. It may be a story of bad decisions and piss poor execution - but it’s also a story of redemption and second chances. Hell, it puts the actual in game stories to shame. It’s proof that no matter how bad things get, there’s always a chance that they can get better.
Make no mistake, you’re going to see a lot of shit out there. Some of it is amazing, and some of it is downright frustrating. But know this: Just because something kills you does NOT mean it’s OP. If you’re getting routinely outplayed by someone or something, maybe it’s time you stop bitching about it and instead learn how to counter it or even use it for yourself.
In the coming weeks and months, you'll watch as your teammates get things you wish you would have gotten, while you get things you wish you'd NEVER have gotten, again and again and again. You'll watch as people who were once ecstatic about the game turn their backs and walk away - calling anyone who continues to play “lame”. You'll watch as people who consistently get outplayed by certain weapons or abilities, cry for nerfs while forming online mob circle jerks to make it seem like they’re more than just the vocal minority. Only for it to later become a reality as you wonder why people are the way they are.
You will know the feeling of accomplishment as you take on things that were once hard for you to do like your first raid clear. Or finishing some long ass quest for a gun you'll probably never use except to make the ones who couldn't get it jealous. And the ultimate accomplishment? Putting some noob on your back and carrying them to victory to help them get loot they couldn’t get on their own.
This, is only the beginning.
See, it's not about how you start, it's about how you finish.

I remember grinding for 1 exotic weapon drop since I had the rest. Borealis, the only thing that I wanted, cared about, NEEDED!! when I finally did it never left my inventory and I yelled in joy because of it. The only time I've ever had a G-Horn-freak-out-like moment.

I wanted to say that before I found Destiny 1 I felt like a bit of an outcast with nobody to really talk to or call a friend, but after playing for a while on it, I ran across this one guy who killed me with a sparrow on Venus, he would eventually become my best friend. Since then we’ve stuck with it through the good times and the bad, gone on countless misadventures in Destiny 1 and 2 and have both grown as people because of it.
We even ended up discovering new ways to break the game (mostly involving sparrows)
And explore everything the game had/has to offer.
So even with all of the things it has done wrong, Destiny has been one of my most memorable experiences that I’ve ever accomplished.

The time after Curse of Osiris and before Warmind was the worst time for D2. I like to call it the OCD:

Such truth right here. I had dropped off Destiny after Osiris for a long time because I had reached my peak and didn't see any point of getting the cores. Then Warmind came out and I was all over it. Got to 385 before launch was another accomplishment. Now with Forsaken I'm gonna strive for 600 and try and get the best gear I can.
Worst time for destiny 1 and 2 combined
Once curse of Osiris dropped, Monster Hunter World had just came out, so I played the SHIT out of that game. Logged about 150 hours in about 2 months. But then when warmind came out I can crawling right back to destiny

STORY TIME bout my life with Destiny..
When the beta came out i was barely 17. Played the shit out of it. Would bring my game to my girlfriends house to play it that i was with already a year.
When it released i played the shit out of it senior year of highschool. Class of 2015 ✌
My first year of college in 2015-2016 i actually bought the ttk dlc cause im a legacy player on ps3. Never bothered to upgrade and didn't because of the time i put in this game. My still girlfriend at the time finally gave in and made a warlock but never played.
End of 2017 she finally began playing it and she was hooked like crack to it. Loved seeing her play and enjoy a passion of mine but got sick of her making so many noob mistakes and playing slowly. But i understood why she doesnt really play. Took her 6 months to get to level 40 😂😂😂
And now.. End of December of 2018 almost 2019 now. Im not with that girl anymore recently. Ended a 5 year relationship. However I still play this game very often on my ps3.. Even her warlock to max light. Its crazy over the years from being a noob and not knowing how to do something to knowing everything the game offers. Being the leader of raids. Finding new players and experienced ones like myself. Not many of us around.
Hearing this music makes me go through many memories and the times i lived in. This game brings much happiness yet so much sorrow when i hear this music play.

Nope. Neither do I remember when it affected jump height. As a hunter main, the "fastest" character class in the game, I distinctly remember everyone running the same speed and being able to exploit to outrun.

Why do people say hunters should move the fastest, it's like saying bear grylls should be able to outrun an Olympian.
Hunters are light and agile and are the squishiest. a 900 armor titan shouldnt be able to kill me run to my spawn before i spawn, set up camp, get a degree then kill me again

Besides that Bungie even says they are the most mobile... Think of them like a football team, Warlocks are like quarterbacks, Titans are linemen, and Hunters are running backs. And Bear Grylls should be able to outrun an Olympian, just not many, but the power lifters, some of the martial artists and gymnasts, and maybe a few more, sure.

Destiny has helped me through many personal issues. Not to advertise the game, or experience here, but I stand by the last oath that BAG put on this video.
I was heavily deep in clinical depression back in 2014, all the way into the Spring of 2015 did it finally dismay, and I found the strength to shake it off. What helped me through the mortal coil and turmoil you might ask?...
One word. Destiny.
This game literally helped me get my life back. I went on to play online in PVE and PVP moments with people I never met, and a few who I was already aquainted with.
To this day, sadly the old clan has never returned back online to Destiny 2. But I play now helping others, making new friends, remember what it was like kicking ass with my old clan, and how they helped me regain something that I had lost. My happiness.
Thanks BAG for these videos, I hope your message can be conveyed further to other people looking for an escape. Cause like you said, not everyone can be healed or satisfied by the solutions life normally offers them.

How does having an in-game random drop shotgun from a specific event on a designated planet (which was intended to be farmed) , be considered to be noob-ish when you have people who raid like it’s cake work use it in almost every run? You probably watch raid guides and tell people you raid with melee only.. Leave the male genital measuring back in D1 where it belongs.
I feel like you’re someone that blames “noobs” for having it easy when it’s really just you not understanding simple mechanics in any activity :p
If you’re getting outplayed by another player, the weapon or loadout they’re using is not OP. You just suck at countering.
If you’re getting killed every second in raids, you’re deficient in any mechanical skill that’s required to survive.
If you’re getting wiped by a sleeper/queenbreaker in gambit, you suck at playing around that.
How long does it take for a player to understand what the meta is in activity? If you’re complaining a simple shotgun, which is eh, I can’t imagine what you would feel in D1 when every raid NEEDED certain loadouts (according to people) I couldn’t care less

I've always stuck with Destiny because it helped me get through the darkest time in my life, the friends, the memories I will always remember, its had its ups and downs just like about everything in life, loved your video it was truly amazing, been with Destiny since the beta and all i gotta say is.....I miss ya Dinklebot, may your little light shine bright.

I’ve been a guardian since destiny 1 had a beta. I played all the way through it to destiny 2. Now I’m still going and I can say destiny has gave me many memories.
I actually felt this and got emotional for it. I never played destiny 1 but D2 year 1 was where it all started for me

When I saw the D1 VOG memory I stopped in my tracks mid way up the stairs and just stood there for a moment. It really swung a punch to the feels.
Thank you for telling all the players who re-joined the game or are completely Destiny newbies for the horror us veteran D2 vanilla players. I definitely have PTSD...the Graviton Lances, the Prometheus Lens, the team shooting, and oh god the colony...I still have nightmares.

Dinklebot, the true MVP who was lost in Vault of Glass. May he rest well, and awaken more Hive for us to murder.
But this - This is too accurate. I've watched D2 rise from the ashes, and can proudly say I'm glad I'm one of the Veterans who are in it for the long haul, and I hope many more stand together and guide D2 through Forsaken - through Black Armoury - through Joker's Wild - through Penumbra and further. This game will only improve, as long as Guardian's guide the game to where it needs to be.
Let's not forget that we still have two major DLCs left. Saturn and the pyramid ships. I'm guessing Oryxs sister is gonna be Saturn and god know what will happen with those ships.
I've played the hell outa D1 and D2 till the curse of Osiris would you say it's decent enough to come back and give it another shot?

@@adjcsee4476 D2 is in a good state right now. It's not perfect, but it's so much better than it was back when you were last playing.
Bungie did a great job with Forsaken, and if you would go ahead and buy it I honestly don't think that you would be disappointed.

Never thought that I would actually be proud to say that I’m a D2 Y1 veteran. Yeah gentlemen those may have been rough times for Destiny but I have some of the best memories from it
I was honestly just expecting a 10 minute loop of the loading screen.

I played the alpha. Which makes me alpha. So fuck all the other noobs
I was an alpha d1 player but held off from buying d2 for a month. Then saw the reviews. But then I got Forsaken for a smaller price then D2 players who played S1.
More than just it’s been a big part of my life, it’s been a real, genuine escape for me for four years
It’s been a huge, major part of my life. One of very, very few things I can jump into and just forget the troubles of the world for a while and enjoy myself. Even though it’s not “my favorite game” it is the most personally meaningful. It’s provided a good escape for me and helped me deal with all the hardest periods I’ve experienced in the last 4 years, and that’s something I can’t forget. No matter what the state of the game is or what happens, it being that big for me during such formative and intensely emotional times is something that I can never forget and will always have meaning for me. That’s why I’m gonna get the Hunter (my main) symbol tattooed onto me soon.

I've been with you since year 1 of Destiny, and have played Destiny since the beginning of 2015. Both this channel and Destiny have helped me get through a lot. I can't wait to see what awaits this community in the years to come. Love you BA.

I know im late to the party on this video but these videos have really managed to put me back in the mood for destiny and the feelings i had for it back in d1. The whole time i have been playing destiny 2 since the start i have been doing it solo, I am part of a clan but i never talk to those guys since it was just a random inventation i got one day. The other day one of the guys from the clan jumped into my game while i was doing the last mission for the thorn "Chasm of screams" because he had a rough time doing it and saw i was doing it solo and after he helped me beat it and get my thorn he told me to hit him up or anyone else in the clan up if i ever wanted to play or needed help. I think i might just have to take him up on that offer so i can get some of these old feelings back of doing raids with friends and being top of the leader board in crucible.

You forgot about those that pay to get things done from websites like guardian services. Even though I showed up late to that stream It was fun to watch hope to get early like over the summer but school life and doing the redrix broadsword quest can get in the way.
Dang, it's just way too hard for those who work the whole Damn day and come home at 10PM
Even more when its about Black spindle, you need a good fireteam and mostly, time. But anyway it doesn't justifies doing it haha
My only regret is when I left D2 when it became free to play. If only I knew things would be better, I’d stay for as long is I could. I always loved Destiny since year 1, it gave me some golden experiences, introduced me to some of my best friends I’ll ever have, and even helped me out on some tough ass times in my life...
