▼ FOR MORE VIDEO DETAILS, HIT SHOW MORE ▼
Now if you’re just starting out in the world of Destiny, then there’s gonna be A LOT you’ve missed out on from year 2. Lucky for you, our orientation here is gonna fill you in on all the experiences you missed out on and get you up to speed - plus, we’ll show you what you can expect going forward.
Men before you would play this game for hours upon hours chasing after these things and more.
Look around you newbies. This is your fireteam. You will play with them again and again - doing the same shit. again and again... They’ll become MORE than just your teammates - they’ll become your friends - You’re going to talk about life, about school, about work, about the world and things you’re going through. You’re going to talk about strategy, about wiping, about cheesing - and reviving, and NOT Dying… and in the end, THEY will be the reason why you even play the game anymore.
See, Destiny is not about the story. It’s not about the multiplayer. It’s not about missions, or strikes, or raids, or even the loot you chase after. It’s not even about all the flaws people love to mention or constantly complain about. Destiny is about the experiences and the fun you’re about to have with your friends while doing all those different things and more.
So as you can see guardians, there is a LOT that you missed out on in year 2. And that doesn’t even cover everything that you missed out on… but we don’t have all day to sit around and talk about the past.
Year 3 is here - and it’s time for YOU to go out there and create your own stories you’ll tell the newbies who come after you.
Oh, and hey - watch out for that LAGGGGGGG
HUGE thanks to the Heroes listed below!

THE INTERCEPTOR RUNNING OVER THAT GUY WAS HILARIOUS XD
Adding on year 2 was a great other than the content drought it was a great time and you summed it up perfectly ba
I dont care what people say about destiny, to me its more than a game. I met so many people trough that game. Destiny will always be close to my heart not for being amazing in every aspect but because it gave me great memoryes that I will always remember. Even now when I discovered that I have cancer growing in my left knee and when they told that curing it will take atleast 1 year and that it will be very hard time for me destiny still puts smile on my face and makes me forget about the whole situation with cancer atleast for an hour. Thank u destiny for being amazing and BA great vid I was looking foward to ur year 2 vesrion and it didnt dissapoint :)
Pjer Dujmovic
I'm so sorry, but one thing it's "memories" not memoryes
I met 446 people on destiny I know what you mean destiny was my child hood
@@cheeseforeverfan9741 i meant hundreds i remember everyone its sad i have a photography memory and it sucks so much
2 years on and this is still true play the game more for the fun times with friends than I do for the actual loot
I hope you get better and play destiny buddy
I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING
ChrisFallen95Productions I'm crying and you are crying I'm a god dam level 10
That time when you make a new character and see all the intro cinematics.
I only have some of my best friends because of this game. Even though it drives me insane, I've uninstalled it twice, I've taken breaks for months and found every secret, I still come back and play with these friends in Destiny. This video helps remind me why I still play the game.
I have played destiny with this one girl since year 2 on Xbox 360. I still play with her now on xb1 in year 3 she's like my sister
RedJP 5001 I met a random in lfg and he turned out to be my closest friend online
Was the last 5 minutes of that video motivating to anyone else or was it just me
Frostbite 1738 all of us
Frostbite 1738 i felt it too
Frostbite 1738 ditto
I felt it too.
Dont worry i felt it so much its not even normal
*Sees this video*
*Goes back to the year 1 video and starts getting nostalgic*
*Watches this video and starts getting nostalgic*
As frustrating as year 1 and year 2 were, I made some good friends playing destiny. I got to watch a game grow from people staring into a cave to get engrams to people using binary code to unlock secrets and get an exotic gun. I played the PvE and got to experience pushing raid bosses off the edge of the map due to being forever 29. I endured the bugs of Crota's end. I helped randoms go through Kings fall for their first time because I was using Touch of Malice in PvP, thinking it was going to be good. I played the PvP and raged as over half the community was using the same gun. Now there is more diversity in PvP than there ever has been. I endured the lag. That terrible lag that costed you your flawless ticket or just simply pissed you off while playing the daily crucible to get your legendary marks.
This game is far from perfect. Some might say it's trash. Others worship it. One thing for certain is that we, as a community, are changing this game. It has gone from a buggy, laggy slot machine that will let you down time and time again to a slightly less buggy, still laggy slot machine, but it's my slot machine, and while playing, I've met some pretty chill dudes and had some great experiences. While I wish I could share them with you, I won't need to because everyone out there that plays this game has their own experiences. Experiences that they can reminisce about with their friends, all while fighting a giant death zamboni. Instead of being nostalgic and longing for the past, let's look forward and make new experiences and new friends. This our slot machine. This is our experience. This is our, destiny.
(Ehh, like that corny ending! No but seriously, though. Let's make year 3 AWESOME! WOOOOOO!!!!!)
Sincerely,
One of the oldest vets out there...
Whoa, those letters...
Well said, I met my tourney team during year 2, friendships were crafted and bonds were created, destiny is truly a great game in my eyes
Noah D. lmao for real tho i rewatched the year 1 last night and was thinking damn where did all the good times go
amen
That was beautiful
And 1 more thing...
Watch out for that lag
It's still terrible I'm telling ya
Had me in tears
Rhys Kimber I fricken swear, I was playing the Sepiks perfected with my friend and we got paired up with somebody from Mexico so all three of us were lagging. The guy from Mexico was shooting at the fricking wall and Sepiks took no damage.
TheGrayGhost That happens to me all the time
TheGrayGhost Do u play on Xbox
Rhys Kimber I do on xbox 1
Rhys Kimber Yep
i just miss destiny one in general, the graphics were much more dark and gloomy whereas destiny 2 is brightly contrasted. The feeling of Destiny 1 being dark and gloomy actually gives the feeling like humanity is struggling to survive in a world where everything is destroyed. Ahhh good old destiny 1
I started playing Destiny when Oryx came out, and it was honestly one of the best gaming experiences I've had. I loved the combat, the grind, and most importantly the friends I made there.
seems like y2 went by a LOT faster than y1 anyone else?
yep
Indeed.
yeah
well year 2 was more fun so of course
omar Shaany no fucking way, but it's your opinion
I really like how he's phrased it "Destiny is about the friends you meet and the friends you keep!" Really sums it up, met a lot of people on this from year 1 till now and I'm thankful for it
Hey, I don't comment that much but you deserve a massive congrats. These videos are really awesome to watch. For a person who is into the game a lot, it actually makes you remember all those moments. Great job, keep up the Badass stuff.
Thanks a lot.
thanks!!
Hey I just want to say one thing. I have been playing Destiny since Day One. I love this game for not only being a fun game with a lot to do, I love this game because of the community it has. Personally, I have been fighting depression, anxiety and suicide for the better part of 6 years now. It comes and goes. The only consistent thing in my life I can do to guarantee hours of laughing and smiling is playing Destiny. It has provided me so many memories I will never forget. I have met really great friend through raiding, gotten closer with old friends because of Destiny. Above all, when there are nights I just mentally can't go on with life anymore and want to kill myself. I just start a Sherpa thread and help all I can find his or her way in Destiny. I just can't wipe away the smile I have for leading someone through a raid for the first time and be friends with them. Thank you Destiny for always being that small beacon of Light in the Darkness. Thank you BA for the great videos. Keep up the excellent work and maybe our paths will cross in the Crucible soon.
Hey Bud, listen...
I said what I said at the end of the video specifically for people like you who are going through things no one knows anything about. We ALL have reasons to give up. But when you focus on the reasons to give up, you never see the millions and millions of reasons to keep going. Suicide is NEVER a solution to anything. In fact, all it does is transfer all the pain you feel to all the people in your life who care about you and magnify it more than you'll ever know. PLUS you'll never get to experience all the good things in life that can be yours.
There's ALWAYS a brighter day out there. Don't let some dark times rob you of that. Seek help, and help others. You go through what you go through so that you can help pull others through who aren't as strong as you. Instead of finding reasons to quit, look for reasons to live. And laugh. Find things that make you laugh, and laugh every day.
i feel like im the only one who never got bored of destiny...
that might have something to do with only completing kings fall 4 times and never really getting shaxx's weekly bounties
I love Destiny and I hope that there is a sequel.
You should try working it out it makes you feel great or enjoy some sun with your dog
mcalsooner91
PS3 grunt76hd, add me, we'll raid
Ahh memories like if your a veteran player just like me
Since beta
Sean McClelland same
Hell yea I played year 1 on ps3
week 2 of year 1 but man do I miss that
Damn do I miss year 1 and all the memories I made with people
I've been a player since the closed beta. I can say this game has come a very long way, some for the better, and some for the worse. But one thing that never changed was the laughs I had watching Badass Gaming. I am a true fan of this game and your content, and I can't wait for much more of both in the future. Thanks for all the laughs!
HELL YEAH!!
BADASS GAMING keep up the good work! I appreciate it all man.
Not only did I shed a couple tears from this but nostalgia hit different when you care so much about destiny 1 it ended to quick
The memories from year 1 and 2😭
I played destiny from the beginning and year 2 was not worth my time but now RISE OF IRON is here so let's begin our journey guardians
Roman Häggqvist begin ? Pfft I've been here since year 1 and still living strong
Reject Moments same lol
Yeah, same here. Been here since Beta yr 1 and have loved every minute of the grind, every nerf every buff, glitch, ect ect... I love it all!! Destiny is amazing and I'll always be apart of this great community!!
Destiny actually helped me with my confidence
bossotron tronboss that's great man
bossotron tronboss it helped with my depression and shyness
bossotron tronboss yeah same
bossotron tronboss it gave me motivation for school:)
I'll never forget the intense screaming that followed my first and only vex mythoclast. Or when I got the ghjallahorn as my second exotic and thought it was shit since it's a heavy. Then after a month, actually used it in the raid and shit myself from its beauty. I remember having the thorn before it was good and using the last word before xur sold it. I remember xur being hell bent on seeking sunbreakers. The great auto rifle nerf and the even worse fusion rifle nerfs. The rise of shotguns. The raid cheese. The rage from the crucible. The bullshit sniper that is Praedyths Revenge. Man, Year 1 was great.
Reading all these relatable comments hits me right in the feels man :)
Who's cutting onions?
Outbreak Prime I rly wanna know
RIP year 2, may you forever be... Taken... From us. (Thank god.)
did anyone else went back to go watch the old 1?
The Shield I did too year one players are the MVP

"Stay away from hand cannons they only shoot blanks" that killed me 😂😂😂
As a Year 1, Day 1 player, that shit hit me right in the feels...

Here from beta, no alpha for xbox players
Alpha baby!

The art, the enemys, the allies, the guns, the music, the lore, the gameplay and above all the cummunity surrounding destiny is a experience I will never forget, EVER!!!!
Destiny 2 HYPE!!!
Destiny 1 is still my favorite game and it will be my favorite for ever ❤
ANOTHER BADASS VIDEO 🙏
1
Just started playing this game this past week and decided not to boost my new character to 40, but to level the hard way instead. I get to level 15, and I'm on Earth near The Divide in a fireteam and ps4 voice chat with two level 40 players. They both sound like they're between 8 and 11 years old. And one of them, ,who's gotten the sword you get after TTK, is talking about how he just discovered this weapon called "the Hand Cannon" which is "pretty good".
*face palm* This. This is why I chose not to boost my character to 40.
hahaha!!!!
Steven Dorsey I had some kid who didn't know where lord shaxx was
Amazing. You captured destiny so well. I haven't been able to play in almost a year and I almost cried watching this. Thank you. May our light never fade.
the fact that i have been following this game since 2012 is fucking crazy and destiny 2 is just 9 days away god i love this game
I been with destiny since year 1 and I still haven't went flawless
Lukestar Ford Same lol. I'm not even that bad of a PvP player
So ElectriK I'm not bad at pvp it just the game mode if it weren't elimination then I would have done it by now
ikr, me AND my friend have been playing destiny since it came out, but hes been playing bit longer though, still no flawless :'(
PC gmes I just don't have a group of friends to play with. All of my other friends decided not to buy RoI and everyone else already has a set group. I dont want to have to traverse LFG because I'm underleveled I wont get accepted into any group. So for now I'm sitting grinding strikes with randoms
So ElectriK oh yeah, right now im just grinding the siva crisis so I can grind the siva crisis heroic
5:14... hello darkness my old friend
Just last night i shared this video with a friend i met on lfg that i have now been playing the game with for 4 months. I had the biggest smile on my face when you said "its the random you meet on lfg that becomes a close friend".
I am a year two player, started playing in December, we are still chatting with our fire time, some of they are not playing but still we keep in touch. Also destiny was first ever shooter I played in my life and I am 27))))) Destiny is one love! Such videos make me smile :)))
Destiny is more than just a game to me. It's a life style. It's a place to make memories, and meet new people. Maybe you'll make some new friends along the way. Say what you will about Destiny, but if you have ever played this game.. You'll know what it's like to start a dance party with a whole Crucible lobby. You'll know what it's like to be thrown off the map by a hitbox glitch when you're just trying to make it over a gap. You'll understand the struggles and expectations that come with opening engrams just to be trolled with a great weapon that has the worst perks. It's more than just a game.
It's a community. It's a mass of fans. It's a family. Whether you've been playing since the beginning, or you're only picking up the game for the first time now; Once you pick up that first rifle, you are a Guardian. You are a warrior. Your name shall be immortalized in the stars, and in the stories told by you, and your fireteam. It takes more than just a single Guardian to defeat the darkness. And together, we will achieve this goal. I've got friends I met years ago that are still in my fireteam to this day, and we still have tons of fun finding glitches and bugs. Whether you're a Year 1 Veteran, or you're a newbie coming in for the first time; We are the only ones strong enough to survive, and push back the Darkness. No matter how strong or weak your Light may be, your skill and playstyle are all new weapons to bring to the table. Let's win this war, Guardians. Destiny awaits us.
6:22 predicted destiny 2
Even though I thought destiny was dead to me, as a year 1/2 Veteran, this reminded me of all the fun times with my friends. Thank you.
I came in 2/3rds into year 1 when I started playing it and man. It was such a fun and funny time with the raids and other stuff I played with people online. This community is more than just greatness. It's full of so much adventure and things that make you decide what you want it to be
a huge DIVISION in our community OVERWATCH, leaving NO MAN ON LAND OR IN THE SKY
Frosty it's a little late but he also referenced fallout
This was so beautiful😢
The bits about the the fusion rifles, hand cannons, & nerfs had me cracking up.
So far, the Destiny saga has taken me from 8th grade to now-Junior year of high school. No game has stuck with me as much as this game has. Destiny helped me make friends to talk to when my real-life friends weren't available, and those friends have seen me through a key point of my life. The Grimoire cards became stuff to read when I had nothing else to do. The forums were actually the first place(s) I could socialize with random strangers similarly to Tumblr or something since I never fooled with those sights. Destiny itself inspired my creativity, enabling me to come up with ideas for my own Strikes, Raids, and Exotics, and even my own idea for a whole Destiny expansion.
As I said already, no game has stuck with me for more than a year, but Destiny outdid everything, for 3 years running on 4. Making friends is probably the one thing I truly appreciate Destiny for, as gaming would be pretty boring now without them. So thank you, Destiny, for existing.
Thank you, Bungie, for creating this truly unique experience.
That guy running away at the end looked so dramatic
My Year 2 of Destiny:
-September: Too focused on FIFA 16 to care
-October: Continuing my journey as a lowly Warlock, I power my way to Light 300, before going back to FIFA for Nov-Jan... I have no friends, so yeah.
-February: first time trying Raid... fail.
-March: Make my way up to 320, the grind was real
-April: New update, had to do more grinding
-May thru August: Got my Warlock to 334, never got it to 335 before Rise of Iron
Interesting moments: Dropping Jade Rabbit at 7AM off of a Nightfall on a school day; Finding out that I'm garbage at Destiny and should never play it again because I'm a burden to any fireteam I join.
xliverocker16 don't tell me you're that guy that fucks up going for flawless raider because you didn't activate the relic and keep your two teammates on vog at atheon alive
Yo if your on Xbox there is no burden on my fireteam, give me your gt and I can help XD (if your on Xbox of course)
Funny you should mention, last time I did Oryx that ALMOST happened. Had I jumped onto my platform a half second later. I would've fucked it up XDDD But I'm just bad in general.
PS4, sorry bro.
ah too bad
In the end of all this we will still love all the things we’ve seen and the adventures we’ve had. I can’t help but love this game even through all of its ups and downs. I’ve stuck around since D1 beta and I’m still in it waiting for Forsaken in D2 and grinding out my last faction rally. The people I meet and the games I play help me smile in the end and the memories that are made may be small and easily forgotten but that fleeting moment of ease and security you have in a good fire team makes me come back to play again.
Of any game Destiny has made me more friends than I did in real life. Cooperative games bring people together and a sense of reliability in each other. Pushed friends off with shoulder charge in raids all the time.
My best memoire was going on a 10 kill streak in the iron banner and in another game getting a phantom medal
Machewdude720 Gaming memory*
10 kill streak...dude...are you a god?
Just casually watching this in 2018 and wondering where is all went wrong. God I want D2 to be so great and it is to me but not to anyone else. All of the hate is unbearable even though I will never give up on destiny, I still think it could be so much better.
not gonna lie i cried a little at the end. Great video. Perfect mix of nostalgia, humor, and reality.
As a day 1 player, this video made me cry, and never want to stop playing
LOL! That was great, bro. Thanks for sharing it with me on Twitter. :)
No prob!!
Could I send ya my Animation voice over demo reel for future possibility of guest voice over? I have a website too and I'm listed on imdb for a movie
From LFG stranger to close friend
The most honest and well put video on destiny as a whole I have ever seen, this video is amazing
“It’s the kid who watches the streams at school and then plays after.”
God damn it. I started crying right then. That was me.
I wonder how many of us beta and alpha players are left still playing Destiny? Great video!
One here. Still playing with a passion.
soldierofchaos84 I'm still here
soldierofchaos84 here
I'm a year 1 Xmas noob
Same
I got it day one. Beta was lit. Destiny is awesome
Tim Xu didn't the servers go down that Christmas ?
Timothy Farnham sane
Tim Xu same
To be honest now that I think of it, memory compilations may be the types of... videos- for lack of better term- out there.
This is a good one of them.
Looking at all these things now brings a tear to my eye. Destiny has come a long way from year one
Hey BA, this video was awesome man. Can't wait for another one. And was that Ostman in the beginning?
Ostman's always the Titan. Otter from the Twitch chat was the Hunter. Kilo fucked everything up multiple times.... as usual
why did this make me almost cry?
Ahh year 2. So much hype and excitement. I remember when it dropped everyone was obsessed with finding the Sleeper Simulant, myself included. We spent an entire month running around the Cosmodrome like headless chickens trying to find out how to start the quest, only to discover that it was locked behind a Time Gate.
The feeling of beating a raid boss for the very first time.. Man how I still remember like it was yesterday staying up until 2 AM on a school night trying to beat Atheon for the very first time back in year 1.
YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS LIKE FOR HYPE
Are we ever gonna get one of these for destiny 2?
This guy can be paid a lot for being an inspirational speaker. Earned a Sub.
I always enjoy watching these every year, the memories start kicking back in. Now im off to helping my year 3 noob friends.
Who's going after this video to watch the Year 1 version?
PLEASE make a Destiny: What You Missed video!
This was amazing. From doing the raids for the very first time, to ghost bullets, to camping in the back of the map, Year 2 was...it was something else for sure. Thanks for putting this together, BA!
Goddamn that speech at the end of the video really did bring a tear to my eye.
Great vid!! glad to see my work in it!
thanks for letting me feature your clip!
what part were you in
The Infusion clip with the math was from a clip
And what time frame was it
3:53
Love this ❤️ also like if you're a year one veteran
BA I love your stuff especially the "What you missed" videos. This one was something I eagerly waited for after watching your first orientation video. I've shown these to friends and family alike and they finally understand why I'm so obsessed with Destiny. So thank you BadAss.
i've met so many people in this game that are still my best friends and I am thankful to destiny for this
Are we gonna get a year 3
"Destiny is about the friends you meet... Wait that's every multiplayer game. What makes this one special? Nothing? Well fuck."
Destiny is completely co-op so when you make friends you experience everything in PvE and PvP together so there's more opportunities for memorable moments and awesome stories you share with your friends.
+morgatron4639 Again, that is every online game.
I used to say the same thing. I played like crazy, got every dlc, then was screwed over when I got my xbone. For the longest time, I hated what they did there. Why can all the dlc transfer, except for the taken king? In my own experience, I only really play multiplayer games. I just love talking to people. I played Smite, overwatch, halo, the division, borderlands, battlefield, and yet (and i'm just realizing this now,) nothing ever struck me quite like destiny. Its been over 10 months since I quite, yet now i'm playing all these other games, I realize that destiny is so different than all the other games. The feeling of getting an insane loot drop, even if it will be nerfed into oblivion, alongside 5 of your best friends is thrilling. literally HUNDREDS of people I have met on destiny I really liked and played with, but I haven't talked to them in so long. I've unfriended them, or just neglected them for so long. There is nothing like going flawless in trials of Osiris for the first time, completing a raid, even for the billionth time, destroying in iron banana, or just messing around in patrol. Sure the developers keep adding crap content, but at least its SOMETHING. There is always something new to do. But to go back to old clichés, "you don't know what you've got till its gone." And this is so true for destiny. Now that I've been gone for so long, I'm thinking about what I loved about the game, not how the devs screwed me over. All the fun times, all the bad, I have to look past all the petty crap, all the unoriginal crap, and just see what really makes this game fun. To think I neglected my friends for so long just because I didn't want to drop (quite) a few bucks, it makes me really sad. So after all this reminiscing, I'm left with just a simple thought:
Who's cutting onions?
Outbreak Prime But again, that is every game. Literally, ever multiplayer game where you okay with friends has the aspect. COD zombies for instance, has that same impact on me that you described. That doesn't mean it is a special game, that just means that not only do I like it, but so do my friends, and that there is a lot of content there that my friends and I enjoy, and that fun is multiplied even more. That credibility can't be attributed to the game itself when it was your friends who made it special.
Amazing video! This is exactly what keeps me playing Destiny. I love this community. It has its highs and lows, but everyone has made friends because of Destiny. I know I have
I'm holding back tears....................this video is so powerful
Been here since the alpha
Me too
I have an Xbox so I've been playing since beta. Never get tired of this game.
Same
been playing since sept 11, day after it came out...also my birthday
Been here since I got the game for Christmas..... I’m not OG
make a destiny year 3 video for the release of destiny 2
Im watching this in 2018 in the middle of D2 and this is heartbreaking. Ive been playing since Dark Below and This is so sad i miss those good days
I feel you, 2 years on and not much has changed
"It's about that one random that you meet on lfg that becomes a close friend" Legit, almost made me cry when I think about it,a lot of my friends that a play destiny with are from one guy that i made friends with on lfg a while back. Now that I think about it, its pretty special to me, that for reminding me Baddass
Here before 1 million views anyone?
who else was a Y1 Christmas noob.... O the memories (T^T)
Me, I fucking remember that I one time I got an LDR from a package with final round and I dismantled it because I was a noob.
Defiant Abyss Ouch!!!
Yup back when I was a noon when Xur sold the truth I didn't buy it😭😭
I played the heck out of Year 2 trying to get things like Grasp of Malok. Then when that Omnigul Solar burn came for nightfall. Oh man I remember grinding that for hours to only get 1 copy.
The absolute best part of this video is 9:28. It just stops. And it talks about the true meaning of why so many people play this game. Like BA GAMING said. "Destiny isn't about Raids, Strikes, Missions... it's about the friends you meet... and the friends you keep."
That genuinely made me shiver, it is so true. And relatable. Damn, I love this video man. Good work BA. Good work.
Now where's year 3 what you missed
god year 2 was great
At least some of it
Liam K but it was dry especially January and December
End half of year 2 was
Sometimes I have to come back and watch this video to remember why I still play destiny thanks BA for all your videos
I really should be working on my dissertation right now, but I watched this video instead, and you know what? 100 percent worth it, it was that good! Bravo, great job, BADASS GAMING.
