logsterr912 That was Bungie's fault entirely. Staten and his team presented JJ and the ancients a whole story outline/roadmap for the game, and what does he do? I don't know. And the DLC content is already on the disc...you just can't access it until you hand over more money! And wait even longer... Mine's on eBay now. It's certainly a good game, just not the great game we were promised.
mikes5637 You're partially right. The stuff on the disk is unfinished. Empty maps, junk like that. Completely unusable anyway. Not like there's anything to play or equip.
" the problem with the artist, is that when given a mission based game, you dont get to appreciate the art and time an artist put into its scenery. Whats the point in putting a player in a game where they didnt want to be around in?" what happened to that?
I feel like Destiny has been moving away from its fantasy elements the past few years, I hope they can reignite that spark, I’d love the higher ups at bungie could patch things up Joseph Staten and maybe have him return to Destiny after he wraps Halo Infinite
The true flaw of destiny is that you are are surrounded by darkness, and stand as a savior of a nearly extinct civilization, yet everything feels so light. There should be a Lord of the Rings, dark/ominous vibe throughout the entire game. It should feel like you are on the edge of losing hope, not comical and cheery. As a "T" rates game, it never stood a chance, but in the future titles, it needs to feel like you got dropped into a futuristic/apocalyptic dark souls.
***** Not even. He went to work for MGS and the Game of Thrones game. He MIGHT end up in the subdivision of 343. Probably wouldn't have much effect. The Halo story took a 90 degree turn in the wrong direction.
Poor Joseph man, I really really wonder how things would've been had they not messed things up with him (just to see how everything would've turned out, for better or worse). AND if somehow, hypothetically, he was still working with the Bungie team, he wouldn't be working with the guys at 343, makes me wonder then how H: Infinite would've turned out near the end since 343 brung him on the team. Unfortunate that right now 343 seems to be struggling when it comes to needing workers, things aren't going so great. (a tad off topic, but oh well, seems Joseph can't get a break wherever he goes)
Isn't it funny? When Joe presented the higher ups with the "super cut" of his original story vision, they complained that it was (allegedly) too messy and too complex for the players (thanks for insulting my intelligence, Bungie & Activision). Yeah, right. As if the story we got in the final games was any good AT ALL. Fuck you, Bungie & Activision. Firing Joe Staten only because you thought that your fanbase was a bunch of 6-year-olds who would rather listen to corny jokes (looking at you, Destiny 2) was the death sentence for this franchise. You tried fixing it, but now, the franchise truly is dead. Especially since Eververse is now basically the endgame. Give me a fucking break.
@@davida1229It’s always funny how people have been declaring Destiny’s death for the past decade. All this nay-saying, just for the game to live on, and it pisses them off to the point where they pray on its downfall. I’ve never seen a video game live in so many people’s heads rent-free.
Man the jobs in the video game industry like being a concept artist or a game programmer are fucking difficult, but also far out. I used to be interested in the product, I'm more interested in the development now. These guys are hard working and wired for this sort of stuff. Best of luck to their team. I hope I get to be part of the video game development network and help build the infrastructure for a virtual experience one day.
12:32 That spaceship. It's exactly like one of my dreams, wow. Captures perfectly that idea of "the last of the Humans race going through space in one giant spaceship city". The planet backdrop, the lighting, the colors, everything in that picture is extremely similar to what I dreamed. It had this lonely yet hopeful and inviting look. All that would be missing is the exploration of mysterious and dangerous alien worlds with a feeling of grandeur, mystery and danger to them. The stuff of dreams!

The hive remind me of clickers from the last of us more than they remind me of zombies. They still looks friggin incredible and I think this will be an incredible game.
Part of me had doubts about this game given its scope and its ambition, but that part has been put to rest. Its easy to tell that Bungie has really put their heart and soul into this project, and it clearly shows.
no i have not but Destiny has several things I've noticed that reference some new and old scifi The fallen look like Wolf Spiders. the Hive remind me of Krull, the Cabal look like some one took a Halo Grunt and bread it with a rhino, the hive tomb ships look like the ships from chronicles of riddick.
Destiny 2 Expansions are Osiris and Rasputin themed. I hope Bungie can make justice to Statem original vision of Destiny. Not the chopped, weird thing we got instead.
this is gonna be the biggest game of console history its so huge and beautiful. and with game updates and such it will keep growing. cant wait to play this :)
I'm hoping Tiger-man has a cameo appearance, like he's the last of his race or something and you get an epic tiger-class item related to you're character based on race and class.
From what they saying i think it might be kind of like Guild Wars 1 where you got hub places when everyone can meet and in world you can only play with party, but with diffrence that it will be selected locations also in diffrent planets you can go to insted of joined world
I can't even take in the massive magnitude of this game. It is not an open world, its an open solar system. The idea of a mythic futuristic world(s) where you can just get in your ship and fly anywhere has to be the most appealing thing for a video game. I get the feeling this game will break new grounds.
Maybe if we gave them another year, destiny could have turned out like this breath taking concept art. Another year could have let them focus on story (although I believe they should have not even made a story, so you could make your own given some backstory. Like being told how and where you were raised and why you joined the guardians.) but one thing I want more than a better story is more places to go. That frozen city, the Martian forest. Those decaying space ships stuck in orbit. Stuff like that. Also more lore.
Every time a new generation of games systems comes out, there is a handful of new IPs that get me truly excited. Last time around it was the first Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, and Mass Effect. This time around its Destiny. Hopefully we'll see some more new IPs at E3, but this game looks promising enough to take up all my gaming time.
It sounds like you should’ve paid attention. Class* is important (not really, but I needed an excuse to use the corrected word in a sentence to look smooth).
I really am intrested in this game it looks amazing and I like how connected it is with the players its almost like putting on a future game helmet and entering a game world. Im really stoked for this game.
This is open world with a different dynamic of the word "open". When I mean that I mean it will be open, but there will be enclosed missions and then public "join by walking into it" missions.
The game I always wanted, is the game that will never get made.

i don't know about everyone else but im going to love taking my time with this game. it's the M.M.O shooter i have always wanted :). hope everyone else who's planning on getting the game enjoys it as well. ill see you in the city ;D
so how is it?
@@optimalchoptelevision Good.
And then it launched, and there was no story, no time to explain the story and no time to explain why they didn't have time to explain.
I remember Engrams could pop DOWN in rareness
It's amazing Destiny didn't flatline in year 1 and I'm legit shocked that it ever managed to be successful.
We'll always be here.
24:03 after 7 years the silence has broken
Yeah geez
4 planets with small areas and no story plot
buy the rest as dlc
summed up pretty much what bungie never told us ****
free? link?
this was last year they did this. sadly they went through development changes in 2014
And the DLC content is already on the disc...you just can't access it until you hand over more money! And wait even longer... Mine's on eBay now. It's certainly a good game, just not the great game we were promised.
And yet I still love this game
mikes5637 You're partially right. The stuff on the disk is unfinished. Empty maps, junk like that. Completely unusable anyway. Not like there's anything to play or equip.
Anyone notice on the gear sets the fourth is the TTK Vanguard and Crucible gear, and on the Warlock the 2nd helmet is the Spektar Hood.
This looks so cool, the concept art was AMAZING if they could mimic half that and bring it back today it would spark another run for the game
I still feel pissed after watching this. Damn the bungie higher ups for changing everything and damn Activision for pushing more unnecessary bs
" the problem with the artist, is that when given a mission based game, you dont get to appreciate the art and time an artist put into its scenery. Whats the point in putting a player in a game where they didnt want to be around in?"
what happened to that?
fuck you
@@user-73a What a username you got there. Just a little ray of sunshine, aren't you?
@@GridSludge yeah 👍
I WANT MY TIGER MAN!
This is still amazing. Best GDC panel ever.
I feel like Destiny has been moving away from its fantasy elements the past few years, I hope they can reignite that spark, I’d love the higher ups at bungie could patch things up Joseph Staten and maybe have him return to Destiny after he wraps Halo Infinite
After Jason Jones called for that story rewrite Staten will never ever work for Bungie again
9:38 what happened to that? please tell me.
It was like that. They dropped it all unfortunately. That's why the guy that was on this conference left bungie after 20 years.
*****
Not even. He went to work for MGS and the Game of Thrones game. He MIGHT end up in the subdivision of 343. Probably wouldn't have much effect. The Halo story took a 90 degree turn in the wrong direction.
They wanted to put you in a post apocalyptic world that feels like theres hope left
If only for Staten, this franchise would have been so different by now.
This comment aged like fine milk lmao
@@davida1229 How so?
@@sovl2178Does Destiny look like a Dead Franchise to you?
@@davida1229It’s always funny how people have been declaring Destiny’s death for the past decade. All this nay-saying, just for the game to live on, and it pisses them off to the point where they pray on its downfall. I’ve never seen a video game live in so many people’s heads rent-free.
@@davida1229 now THIS comment aged like fine milk
Man the jobs in the video game industry like being a concept artist or a game programmer are fucking difficult, but also far out. I used to be interested in the product, I'm more interested in the development now. These guys are hard working and wired for this sort of stuff. Best of luck to their team. I hope I get to be part of the video game development network and help build the infrastructure for a virtual experience one day.
I want this so bad
12:32 That spaceship. It's exactly like one of my dreams, wow. Captures perfectly that idea of "the last of the Humans race going through space in one giant spaceship city". The planet backdrop, the lighting, the colors, everything in that picture is extremely similar to what I dreamed. It had this lonely yet hopeful and inviting look. All that would be missing is the exploration of mysterious and dangerous alien worlds with a feeling of grandeur, mystery and danger to them. The stuff of dreams!
This seems like the game i've been waiting my whole life for!
Im going to regret watching this, this was around the time of bungies death, and im depressed that as of october 17, 2017, another good game developing company has befallen such a fate
I miss Bungie...these guys were awesome, truly an inspiration to the industry.
Fuck Activision and EA, these publishers can rot!
who saw this after the Destiny 2 trailer ?
Someone needs to make THIS game ^^^
And call it something like: Not Destiny
Cuz that word now has a sickening bad reputation
Demitraxis Knifelord Definitely, shame the Destiny title went to waste though
It’s sad to see all of these people ecstatic for a game that never came out.
loved the GDC presentation and good to know there are people willing to go for it bringing gameplay forward, only hope that it might work on my chromebook! as i seem to be slightly left out of the loop. Well done anyway M.T.
Big challenge: Populating your world
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
You did build a world that mattered.. Unfortunately all that hard work was scraped when Activision watered down what could of been one of the most inspiring games ever.
What did Activision do? They only fund the game.
everyone I know this is really late but, No they have the decision pretty much what is allowed and what isn’t. Hidden Xperia did a really good video on this topic. It’s called “How Activision Destroyed Bungies Destiny”
@@Kill3r12341 thanks bro
this aged poorly. given now that we know how mismanaged d2 has been and how bungie just doesnt create new content anymore since foraken :D
You're mistaking mixing and pairing
Pairing is when you put two things together, side by side, like a castle in space
But
A mix, is when you combine the two together, like you're preparing a sauce
Like a floating fortification
How far it's fallen. I'd give a lung to get the whole original story from Joe, and I'd give the other lung to have the original game.
this game is freaking amazing.
... Why the FUCK, was I never notified about this presentation?! This is a great way to finish of the night. Got some rum and coke, and an hour to spare. :)
Jeez, after watching this again after release it's apparent that we got a husk of a game.
thanks for posting thats amazing
Really what this game should have been.
I don't care how long this Game will take to be made, as long as they make it Stunning well even more stunning
It's hard to believe that this game will come out September... I can't wait that long!!
It didnt
I'm impressed by this game. It hasn't even come out yet and I'd like to play it
i was thinking i was just gonna skip around on this video. get an idea.... i watched the whole damn thing. DAMN. this shit makes me excited
Keep up , you are doing a awesome job with your videos
Let's make all of the cool places back drops.
The hive remind me of clickers from the last of us more than they remind me of zombies. They still looks friggin incredible and I think this will be an incredible game.
Interesting that the art director is sitting in front of the Lenovo thinkpad and not the mac. Respect :P
Yeah,it certainly feels like this will be something spectacular.
I wish lightfall looked more like this
The greatest names for weapons are in Destiny, and numerous greats too.
Part of me had doubts about this game given its scope and its ambition, but that part has been put to rest. Its easy to tell that Bungie has really put their heart and soul into this project, and it clearly shows.
Kinda reminds me of the Movie Krull was a great Scfi mixed with Knights I miss movies like that. Cant wait to play Destiny
Did you play Blood Dragoon it had an Krull Reference... and a ton of other 80/90's References :D
no i have not but Destiny has several things I've noticed that reference some new and old scifi The fallen look like Wolf Spiders. the Hive remind me of Krull, the Cabal look like some one took a Halo Grunt and bread it with a rhino, the hive tomb ships look like the ships from chronicles of riddick.
Destiny 2 Expansions are Osiris and Rasputin themed. I hope Bungie can make justice to Statem original vision of Destiny. Not the chopped, weird thing we got instead.
Luis Herrera yeah about that...
@@somlagentblaugrana8453 Destiny 2 is really good right now but god damn those 2 dlc were fucking terrible ahaha
man.... exploring not few planets but galaxies with friends is gonna be great !
this is gonna be the biggest game of console history its so huge and beautiful. and with game updates and such it will keep growing. cant wait to play this :)
7 worlds? 21:45. Where was this
I'm hoping Tiger-man has a cameo appearance, like he's the last of his race or something and you get an epic tiger-class item related to you're character based on race and class.
can't WAIT!!!!
I don't think I'd be able to play this game, I'd never get past the character creation. This game is going to be so awesome.
According to an article in GI, they are planning on doing that, completely seamlessly.
I love the artwork in this game.
Just....so....AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. Bungie and Activision rejected Staten's story.
FUCK!!! If only we got that game
Amazing game... the beta is godlike and the actual game is going to be just....amazing job bungie!
aged like milk huh
Yeah, I will definitely be getting that as well.
One of the Bungie directors said something along the lines of "Noone wants to use mouse and keyboard in FPS games anymore, thanks to us."
maybe i when a step to far by saying the Universe, but the Galaxy, that's still a big job can't wait for this game.
Every time a new generation of games systems comes out, there is a handful of new IPs that get me truly excited. Last time around it was the first Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, and Mass Effect. This time around its Destiny. Hopefully we'll see some more new IPs at E3, but this game looks promising enough to take up all my gaming time.
lol
can't wait for the game to come !!
Just such a beautiful idea.
I'm watching this instead of writing an essay on Brave New World in English clas right now.

It looks a little bit like a futuristic kind of WOW with awesome graphic.
This is crazy, my cousin is getting married to Chris Barrett
Can you ask him if he misses Joseph Staten's vision for Destiny? Tell him he did a great job on the art

This is open world with a different dynamic of the word "open". When I mean that I mean it will be open, but there will be enclosed missions and then public "join by walking into it" missions.
so another words like demon soul kinda?
Never played Demon Souls.
if i can make my hunter look like boba fett, im sold.
i hope that the game evolves so that players will become legends and basically if you are a complete beast you'll be famous
