      Hi Pete. Yeah mate thanks and I don’t know I got it either. Wasn’t good for a few days. I’m thinking the same. I may even wind it up a bit and see what happens but I think the distance between the cylinders and where I had the hook is a long way. Not a lot of mechanical advantage at all because the pivot pin isn’t far behind the cylinders either. Move the hook back in she would got a lot better but not as high.
      Yes mate Matty is good and knows a hell of a lot for a bloke that taught himself to use the machine equipment. Very handy

    Nice job Steve, she started to run alright after you got some heat into her.
    Take it from a former sparky cable ties are insanely priced at the moment (for whatever reason) and you always want to cut the bastards off as flush as you can get them (if you've spent time crawling around on a cable tray you know why).
    They certainly loved their UNF fasteners back in the day, you damn near need a parts vehicle just for bolts with some of the old British stuff.

    • @stevesplacedownunder
      @stevesplacedownunder  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you mate. It does run good after a bit. And I’m not sure if you saw the start of this crane series but where it sat for over 40 years it’s amazing that it runs at all. I’m forever cutting myself also on cable toes. I’m an earthmover mechanic and there are plenty on those that have been cut sharply too. I haven’t crawled on a cable tray but i know exactly what it is and what you mean.

    Gday Steve. It’s been a ripper series on this old girl. About the cable ties. I get em at Aldi whenever they are on special. And to avoid the razor sharp end that wants to slit your wrist, grab them with a pair of pliers right at the ratchet bit and twist them off. Leaves a tiny soft end that looks neat and can’t bite you 😊

    Yeah she looks like a handful. My old man’s John Deere 2250 is the same, but the steer tyres like to veer off one way or the other and you’re constantly turning the wheel left and right just to keep it straight. But at least now she’s running and you can use it to life a grader blade or set of disks off a truck. Hope you’re feeling better.
