You will be ok I have one little bit different of a machine mine has a backhoe on the front I just spent 2 years trying to the get motor unstuck and I finally did get it Turing over it hss compression but the starter Is bad and it's like 700 bucks for a new one idk what to do but you have a good Machine
How about a great politician style answer? "That depends." I'd say in my mostly inexperienced opinion that a few jobs per year running buried electric/plumbing/telco-internet service a few hundred feet out to a barn workshop from a main house or aerial right of way would make you very, very glad you have this beast. I'm sure you have friends who would throw you a few bucks to rent it from you for their jobs as well.
I have $2,500 in a 3210d and it's got a backhoe 6 way blade and trencher its made way more than I paid for it. just be easy on driving them mine is shaft to chain and kinda pain in the a$$ .
As someone below says, ball pein hammer to cut those gasket holes and if your trying to get bearings onto a shaft heat the bearings in oil as you mentioned but also put the shaft in the freezer overnight, they will fall on then.
You should always have a air gap between your spark plug wires. It reduces heat and electric interference between them. I have been a mechanic for 40 years. Keep up the good work 👏
To line up sheaves like that, I like to use a laser pointer. Hold the round body of the laser pointer in one of the grooves and sweep it across the opposite groove. Makes it simple to line them up. The sheaves are often not exactly the same or have a bevil on one side so makes the straightedge method problematic to get it just right.
As a kid my dads did not have the shifter. we used a 2x4 to move the gear selector. backhoe, trencher and directional boring bars what a beast of a machine that was with the Deutz diesel

They make a 3/8F x 1/4M reducing coupling you can get from grainger, McMaster Carr or a legitimate plumbing supply house for your sedimate bowl. Best of Luck..................
Those blades are awesome! I had a similar cylinder on my dovetail trailer that raises a ramp to the upper deck and the top pin was seized in there. I used a blade to cut both sides of the pin to be able to put a new cylinder on. I previously used one blade to demo all the cast iron pipe on my bathroom remodel at the suggestion of the guy at the plumbing supply. In the past a cast iron diamond blade would barely make it thru one cut.
One of the first things I learnt about 4 cylinder engines is the firing order is usually 1,3,4,2, always worth a look when something does not sound right and your not 100% sure. Watching the cutting chain go on I was screaming your putting it on the wrong way round, obviously not loud enough. All in all a nice job, looking forward to its first trial.
5/2/24. Ok JL, Hello from New Orleans area (~70° 2day); so just finished watching you rebuild of that (big) DitchWitch (model 40?). What a struggle you took on! Great job! Looking at the black spark plugs (Gas) and the way it's running I think you shoul lower the carb floats about 1/16" to lean it out a little.
I see what I need to work one of these…hammers of various sizes, a grinder, definitely a carbide saws all, and most of all, the patience of Job. You do good work young man, and your persistence is legendary.
Pretty sure you have the chain bar on upside down and the ends are swapped. The idler sprocket goes on top near the drive end instead of on the bottom near the driven end. The back of the chain should ride on the flat side of the bar and press against the dirt. That’s why the safety bar sits so far away from the chain right now. It’s that high to make room for the idler at the drive end. You’ll find out first time you try to trench with it. Keep up the good work
Something I learned about gaskets when I was in the Navy you get your gasket material place it over the piece you're going to make the gasket for and get a small I mean small ball peen hammer and make it with that it works just my experience in my opinion . I really wish I could hire the trenching and not have to mess with renting the equipment. Heck, everyone I know wants to manage their yard run off with a buried drain pipe. Keep up the good work and take care of the family first. Kudos to your wife for lending a hand.

Interesting how it is so similar to a Wisconsin engine, but according to the tags obviously its not. Thanks for the video, gave me some ideas about installing an alternator on mine - I have a hydraulic pump coupled to what drives your alternator.

A hotplate from an old automatic drip coffee maker works good for heating bearings, races and gears and such for assembly. Also; be carefull not to advance the ignition timing too much,, those old Wisconsin engines are notorious for overheating and blowing up from doing that. In my opinion,, BRAVO $7500.00 is a reasonable investment in such a machine. Now,,, go give it some exercise!
Your Coil could possibly be the wrong size or just weak. My VH4D required a different Coil after I had installed the per Tronix electronic ign system on the motor. I bought the Flame Thrower 3 ohm Coil on it, also made by Per Tronix. Model # 40511. Bought mine at Amazon. In super ❄️🥶 MN winters it has always started right up and ran like a Demon 😈, a good Demon .. Wouldn't hurt to locate a new Rotor as yours could be going bad. Nice job too. Loved that your wife helped out with that heavy boom!💪💪💎. Soon your boy will need some type of rideable power wheel or maybe a farm tractor!😊

You mentioned you use to work at the plant that made the hose fittings - just curious who the company was and where was the plant location. I used to work for an Aeroquip plant that made high pressure hydraulic hose. I frequently visited the fitting plants.

I cant believe you didnt show it to us in action!
Soon 😬
I bought one of those from a auction. And the engine was all apart took me a bit to put it back together
Yeah!
You can rent it switches, but not where I live, one you can't be used solid blue stone and granite
Coil's don't "get weak". They don't suddenly become the wrong size (what ever that means).
Never in my life have i ever thought to myself "man, I'd love to watch a video of someone rebuilding a ditch witch." But damn that was a great/interesting video! 😂
Lol
You mentioned you use to work at the plant that made the hose fittings - just curious who the company was and where was the plant location. I used to work for an Aeroquip plant that made high pressure hydraulic hose. I frequently visited the fitting plants.
