Grape I mean great. Can't beat that savings!! I'm going to give this a try while I'm on staycation next week. I'm pretty sure I have grape juice and pectin already - some where ☺
Thank you I made grape juice last year so I have 3 half gallons of juice no sugar.has been added Concord grape juice Can you use coconut oil instead of butter?
you did a great job kid o But you should have used a taller spoon so you did steam your hand over all fantastic job.Iam going to make jam this fall.cant wait to love making whole made jelly and bread😄
This will be my first time trying did you have it on high heat though out the progress. Or did you bring it up to boil little over time. I’ve had my canner awhile just been scared to use it and I want my first time to be good if possible
@@pgnanofarm9776 I totally understand that. My kids found out a couple yrs ago. I always added ketchup to my spaghetti sauce just to make it go farther..lol now they add it to theirs just because they got useto the taste...lol
Pectin is a carbohydrate naturally found in fruits. It forms a structure with sugar at the right acidity which causes gelling. Fruits like apples or guava which are high in pectin set very easily with just sugar. If you have a low pectin fruit like pineapple you can add apples or oranges to it to increase the pectin content for easier set.
It tastes as good or better but the cost was way less. The best grape jelly in my opinion is from wild grapes but we don't have those here in WA. It's also a good starting point for those that want to learn how to can.
@@joannwilliams4801 no. Liquid pectin often needs a very long boiling stage. It can come out liquidy without it but if that what you got... Use it. Boil it a long time.
Yes you can!!! I can't remember the amount but it will be on the package of liquid pectin. I have found I have to boil that for a while longer though to get it to set but still works great!!!
I made the whole bottle, I think it's stupid to just use 5 cups. I used 10 cups of sugar which I will cut to 9 cups of sugar, I used almost 8 tbsp pectin. It came out great. I got 6 pints😁

Hello Linda, this was very interesting. I have never made Jam or Jelly.💕. NonnaGrace

Very good video!!! I have a project to do !!!
Ohhh I hope you do!!! Its just so inconvenient!!!
Yes, you are using 1/2 pint jars
Great video!! Gotta try this 😁
Ohh good. It is very simple to do and tastes great!
I'm new to this but would like to try it. Do I really need 7 cups of sugar? Can I use splenda instead or partial splenda instead?
They have a low sugar pectin that will cut the sugar in half or lower. I would try that first.
@@pgnanofarm9776 Thank you!
I will try this out
It super easy. Hope you do!!
Do you think this tastes better than Welch’s grape jelly from the store?
It tastes as good or better but the cost was way less. The best grape jelly in my opinion is from wild grapes but we don't have those here in WA. It's also a good starting point for those that want to learn how to can.
PG Nano Farm I totally agree. I haven’t done it in a long time so I’m starting here!
Would you be reluctant to use liquid pectin?
@@joannwilliams4801 no. Liquid pectin often needs a very long boiling stage. It can come out liquidy without it but if that what you got... Use it. Boil it a long time.
I made crabapple jelly just with sugar,no pectin, but I used the crabapples,if you use the juice,do you need the pectin or can you just use sugar?
You can use just sugar too. I have never had luck with just sugar recipes but I know it can be done
Thanks dear
How long did it take to set?
I always leave them over night. They came out perfect.
Can I use liquid pectin and how much should I use?
Yes you can!!! I can't remember the amount but it will be on the package of liquid pectin. I have found I have to boil that for a while longer though to get it to set but still works great!!!
Needs more Brandon! :)
