Well I’m a newbie and I’m going to be making this. School is going to be starting soon and all the grandchildren Love grape jelly so guess what they are getting from me as a back to school treat? Yep … 🙂 Thanks Tiffany I do appreciate it very much.
I made this grape jelly over the weekend, it turned out to be easy and delicious! I love the grape flavor which you don’t get from store bought jelly. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks for the help on my first time making jelly! The only thing I did di was used 4 cups of juice to 7 cups of sugar. That’s what the recipe in my Certo liquid pectin called for. Made a double batch and it looks great . Can’t wait for toast in a couple days.
Tiffany, one more question. On my second batch of jelly I warm 6 lids but only used 5 of them. Can I use the warmed lid that I didn’t use for something else? I’m just trying to learn the safe ways of canning since I’m just starting out. Thank You Again.
What brand of can't do you use? Is it pressurized? I used to have a pressure canner and need to buy a new one. Can you share what you use or anyone on the net? I have been looking for this recipe. I don't like high fructose corn sweeteners but their prices. Thank you for doing this.❤😊
@@OurSmallTownLife Thanks, first year canning and after 4 hours it's still watery. But it's also hot. It did jell on the pot so I assumed that was a good sign.
Tiffany, I’m a beginner and I made this Welch’s grape jelly. My first batch was great. I made another batch and I made this recipe correctly up to putting in sugar (I even boiled juice for 1 minute without the sugar in it then I realized I didn’t have the sugar in there). So I added the sugar, dissolved sugar and boiled for 1 minute. Then I continued to the end of the recipe. On the second batch I made I only got 5 pints instead of 6 pints. My question is will these 5 pints be shelf life/OK to eat and OK for my grandchildren to have? Thank you for your help. I just finished my second batch letting them cool and they have already popped.
Yes, as long as you followed the recipe and put in the right amount of sugar it is fine. Maybe you boiled off a little more liquid or something this time.
You don't have to. They aren't going to be in contact with food and they don't have to be heated for the lid to seal. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. :) Technically if you are process in boiling water for atleast 10 minutes you don't have to presterilize any of it.
@@OurSmallTownLife Made the best grape jelly today! Thanks so much! I made it exactly like you did but only got 5 jars. Maybe because I’m up at 7,000 ft.
Can't wait to can this jelly. I love easy canning recipes.
I didn't even know this was a thing!!! How cool!!
Looks delicious. I love how you have the patience to let your kids be included. Raising 3 boys and a girl I know that can be a challenge some days.

Hi. I'm new to your channel. Sorry if you have already answered this, but can I do this with any fruit juice? Like maybe apple? Thanks

I’m just trying to learn the safe ways of canning since I’m just starting out. Thank You Again.
Yes, you sure can. If you just warmed it you can let it cool, store it and use it some other time.
I’ve been wanting to try and make jelly this way! Love it! I’ve seen videos for apple jelly with apple juice too.

Doing this recipe right now
Hi Angel girl 😘 God bless you and your family. Have a blessed weekend 😇 love you guys 😇🥰😇 This is good to know!!!!! Thank you so much 😇🥰😇
This is so good! I’m going to have to give this method a try! I wonder if you could use the same method and make apple Jelly with apple juice!? 🤔
Yes you can!
@@beckyb4068 nice! Thank you 💕
@@blw0819 you can actually use any type of 100% juice to make jelly!
@@beckyb4068 that makes all kinds of options available! Such a fun way to make jelly 🤗
Yes you can! The recipe I have with apple juice only calls for 3 1/2 cups sugar but when I make it I will probably still put 4.
Yum
I made this today, how long does it take to completely set up?
About 24 hours. It needs to cool completely.

Thank You Tiffany For Responding And Helping Me Out …I Appreciate It.
I’m sure this was a trivial question but I just felt like I had to ask.
@@lindakuhlman565 you're welcome! Anytime! I'm happy to help any way I can.
2 questions...how long will it last being canned? And...can this be done with other fruit juices?
It will work with other fruit juices and I think most guidelines say a year in the pantry but in all reality it lasts much longer than that.
@@OurSmallTownLife Thx so much!
💕
🍇 😊
Could you use this same recipe with any type of 100% juice?
Yes you can!
@@OurSmallTownLife oh that is exciting! I can't wait to make some and give as gifts 🥰
Ive seen videos where the cook it for 3 minutes,so would it be 1 minute?
Pectin is typically activated with one full minute at a true boil.
Do you have to boil the rings as well?
You don't have to. They aren't going to be in contact with food and they don't have to be heated for the lid to seal. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. :) Technically if you are process in boiling water for atleast 10 minutes you don't have to presterilize any of it.
How many ounces of pectin?
I believe the original package of surejell is 1.75 oz
