Your channel is so underrated, you explain things without throwing hate or being arrogant and as sad as it is to say this, I find it so refreshing and much more preferable. ❤ I just really love your kind attitude.
Yeah i think there should be more channels that should focus more on the positive side of pop culture rather then the negative unlike some of the youtuber's that go over anime that i use to be subscribed to and the anti-sjw grifting crackhead's as well
A good example of why shows like sailor moon would be better at teaching Japanese than dbz or bleach is how they talk. Goku talks like a country bumpkin (おめえ instead of おまえ), and would be more suited for later on in your studies. Ichico in bleach casually says てめえ casually, so thats a no go for beginners.
Girls in many Shoujo series speak with very feminine speech patterns, too, though. At least it's not rude 😅
between the tablet apps for basic japanese and letters among other basics, im using her videos to help me as well. i hope if i watch them enough i can learn some japanese past what little i do know. also using apps on my tablet to learn vowels and other words or trying to, going to work toward saving for the genki book
An extra tip for Netflix users: Using my account in English, it was very hard for me to find audio and subtitle options in my target language as they did not show up on the video menu. Once I created a seperate user profile (still using my same account) setting it up in my target language, I then found dubs and subs in that language as an option on the video menu of shows. If you are learning one of the "big" European languages, it is not as much of a problem, but it can be for more obscure languages if the user is not set to that target language in their user profile. This trick works particularly well for Netflix Originals that usually have a ton of hidden dubs and subs in different languages. For other stuff, you may need a VPN.
Me after reading the title: of course! Sarah thats how u teach us too!~

Yeah, people really overthink this stuff. If it’s Japanese, then it will help you learn Japanese.
Mm, those 4 tips really narrows down my list 😰
I am absolutely going to use these recommendations. Thanks!
this is some good quality content
please keep up your awesome work, you are awesome!
wish you all the best 😉💛
The best way is watching recent movies and J-Dramas. But with anime is fun too.
I mostly tend to watch shojo and slice-of-life already, and I read a lot more manga, so this is a big help for me! Thank you so much
So I know it's off topic but where do I go to find shows in other languages because I am trying to learn French for my grandmother you wouldn't happen to know streaming services for like French shows or something
Wow! I have the Little Mermaid in Japanese and also Hebrew. Anytime I start learning a language I start by watching that movie in the language. Love it! And Aladdin, too! Side note: Japan has a 1970s version of the Little Mermaid. It is much more "adult" and much closer to the original story. I love that one, too!
Why doesn’t this channel have more views/subs? This is great content

Great! It would be cool to do a video of the shonen/fantasy anime that use strange vocabulary and then explain a more natural ways of saying the same thing.
There's a site to get japanese subs for a lot of shows called kitsunekko. Does anyone fluent jn japanese know if they're good?
Edit: my concern was that a forum post on koohii when it was still up said it was beginners. Though it didn't specify whether it was spelling words correctly with kanji, or if the standard for the TV show would find it more appropriate to use katakana even if the kanji is already taught. So I had nothing to go off of.
Maybe check out matt vs japan for good resource's recommendations
@@vanessameow1902 ty for the channel. And turns out kitsunekko is what he recommends for japanese subtitles.

truly helpful advice, but sometimes there are hardcore people watching complex anime, and learning a lot of more words in the process. I would suggest trying this, if you can stall the mental fatigue, then it could be even better
What was that anime with the person in the pink and the other saying "you're doing a great job! "
What do you think about the Japanese used in Case Closed / Detective Conan?
It's been like over 15 years since I've seen any of it or read the manga so I have nooooo idea. 😅
@sarah moon i do have to watch your videos over and over quite a bit honestly, that is just 1 or 2 of them so far. this is why i i really wish i had an easier way to learn japanese. i am playing learn japanese while you sleep and using phone apps to learn, anything i can. sailor moon is the reason im so into it
Great video!! speaking on the manga, what are your best suggestions?
Basically the same genre I talked about with anime - shoujo manga are great because they usually use furigana with the kanji. Anything by Ribbon in particular is going to be a good tool since it's intended for younger girls. I really liked Hime-chan's Ribbon, Marmalade Boy, Tokimeki Tonight, Kodocha, etc.
@@PrettyTranslatorSarahMoon thank you very much!!!!
Holy shit you worked on lovely complex?! I just recently finished my collection of the manga after loving the anime for years (hi 6 foot tall girl here lol)
Hey cutie *tries to high five but fails miserably cuz im t i n y*
Yeah, I translated the anime for Discotek almost 10 years ago. I've also dated a guy shorter than me so I could totes relate. 😅
AAA! JOJO! YES PLEASE! Anyways, these are great tips that i will be using!
Im so pumped for tht video!!

Don’t forget the Yu Gi Oh the movie OVA it’s a awesome short but simple movie to follow. I literally just tumbled on to the movie on RUclips and it had no subs it was so easy.
Are you saying my super famicon and my copies of dragon quest won't help? 😢
Could you make a video that focuses on like, maybe three anime characters that are good examples of ways that people don’t actually speak in Japan?
Karakai jouzu na takagi san is a hoid show to practice speaking natural japanese
If you don't follow him already, That Japanese Man Yuta has been doing a lot of videos recently that feature specific anime characters with weird speech patterns.
I was gonna recommend Yuta but I was beat by her to it. Lol
I never thought I'd see Jojo as Edutainment.

Opinion on anki?
There is an anime movie where a character speaks a single word of English. But in the dub they say a different line.
That would confuse me if I was trying to learn via a movie.
dear Sarah, could you say if the "Black Butler" has weird-sounding Japanese, or not?
Haven't seen it so I don't know.
I don't watch anime to learn Japanese... i learn Japanese to watch anime without the subs.....
Then you shouldn’t learn Japanese.

My brother went to school for accounting because everyone told em he’d make bank. He graduated with honors and ended hating it after a year. Do it for the right reason not out of pure utility lol. The benefit is so much more when you enjoy it wholeheartedly.

Probably. I haven't seen it, though.

I mean, if the dub is anything to go by, you would have to get through all the puns and plays on words. Lol I own the game (which is like $200 now online) and it has tons of little moves, almost sign language, that they say when they do those actions. And some of those moves aren’t even localized into the dub. Like they say digdig when they, well, dig.
(Is this is an MIA related video?)
idk. Which MIA are you talking about?
