If anyone is experiencing an issue where the controller vibrates and connects but has no input it was solved for me by turning the wired connection on like he mentioned in the video. I only comment because it's an extremely easy step to forget lol

It didn't fix it for me. I'm using the elite controller 2 and I get nothing even after reverting controller's firmware, updating the 8bitdo and turning on the option.
This helped me so much me and my dad were struggling, thank you😭🙌

Amen, I'm on my 5th different switch console, my second oled. I sold the others for a little profit, traded one for a series X, But I didn't want to purchase another pro or fusion pro controller. So I wanted to use my 2 month old Custom Series Elite 2 controller on my OLEd switch.. Since the joycon are the worst for most games. And im amazed how simple this is..Im on my 2nd play through of Breath of the Wild 2 before the new Zelda games is released in a few months

Great product I think I would buy some little stickers to place over the buttons too . Also for such a great price I won't need to fork out for the pro controller. You are saving money when I invest in switch
Yeah, it's one of those products I would just buy to have sitting around in case I needed it. In fact, that's exactly what I did. I'm even thinking of getting a second one. It works with so many different products that it's a bit of a Swiss Army Knife.

Will you get a standard Switch or are you going to wait and see what we get with the Switch Mini and/or Switch Pro?
@@JoeChip well my thoughts are to wait until black Friday by then I'm hoping the new skews of switch will appear. Plus all my credits will be cleared by then. I'm also jumping in when xcloud launches giving me an all in one system. This dongle should mean a seamless transition from playing a native switch game to xcloud game. Will I go for the pro or mini switch time and reviews like yours will sway my choices.

I’d still contact Nintendo and see if you can get the joycons fixed.
Ctrl Alt Del if u want a temporary fix get some isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip and dip the Q tip in the alcohol and try to get it under the little rubber piece on the joystick and then when ur finished turn the joystick in a circular motion after that wait 5 mins for it to dry and it should work after this process (only for a temporary amount of time)
I was reading. Nintendo got sued because they knew most of there joycons had issues and then charged people for a repair that was there fault.
Long story short, you can get the drift fixed FOR FREE just fill out an app on Nintendo
@@deaththekid3625 I now have a different issue, my joycons do not like to stay connected when they're attached to the switch. It's caused my joycon battery to drain so that when I finally dock it I can't continue playing and actually have to charge my joycons.
So the solution in the video or a third party controller are pretty much what I'm settling on.

most in-game controls can be manually altered so for long it won't be confusing.
You can just have a Xbox control present on the switch for when it detects that controller
If it doesn’t work and your confident you have everything correct, is there a way to be sure it connects every time. Mostly because I can’t seem to do it.

Double click the sync button on Xbox controller. When the controller is off and u turn it on it’s on Xbox mode looking for an Xbox to connect to. Double clicking the sync button buts it to Bluetooth mode connecting to the most recent paired device
plug the 8bit do flashdrive piece in the square piece in the back of the switch, after this make sure youre switch is in the charging port and is plugged in and connected to youre tv, after youre switch is connected to youre tv and the 8bitdo is connect in youre switch, turn on the controller and go to pairing new controller on switch, if it fails to connect it is because youre xbox 360 controller will need to have a wire connected to the controller which will plug into the 8bitdo, and this will work. if you are confused at the order of this let me know so i can send clearer constructions.

The Switch has surprised me, in that I really didn’t expect it to take off the way it has. I do understand why you aren’t interested. I honestly only tend to use it when travelling. It is great to take on holiday, though.

Switch has bluetooth but you cannot use it I think it is only for joy cons and pro controller.
Probably so that you buy one of their controllers instead of sync your PS4 controller to your switch.
At least in my case it would be a PS4 controller.
I take it this will only work when the console is docked because the adaptor is USB, sometimes I like to have my switch sitting on my desk in front of me while using the pro controller while doing stuff on the PC.
Good point Cerb. Yeah, that would be the case. I suppose you could get round that by using an OTG cable but then you'd have a cable sticking out the bottom which would stop you using the kick stand. Whenever I try to do stuff with the Switch, design choices (flaws) get in the way.

I'm curious about getting the Xbox 8BitDo Arcade Stick & adapter to do this. I don't know if it will work but I want the Xbox one so I can use it on Xbox, PC & Switch, plus it looks better than the Switch one.

I bought it today. For my xbox one controller but i can't make it work. I dont know why, i mean my xbox one controller is from 2015 but it works perfectly fine on pc with the microsoft adapter (to use it wireless). Do you know something?
It took a couple of tries for me to get the controller to sync to the adapter. Also, try putting the adapter into the other usb connector.
My question is, do the button layouts on the Xbox controller differ from the Nintendo pro controllers?
For example, if I pressed RT on the Xbox controller will it have the same effect in game as if I pressed that identical button on the Nintendo pro controller.
And that goes for all the buttons like (a,b,x,y RT LT RB LB) do they all have the same effect as a Nintendo pro controller when u press that identical button. I hope you understand what my question is
The buttons are pretty much mirrored on the Xbox controller so there isn't really any issue.

FYI, it doesn't work with the Elite Series 2. You'd think that it would considering that it's a bluetooth controller, but it doesn't. I already tried it.

It works perfectly fine, you just have to update the firmware.

The fact that it does not have a usb port on the adapter makes it (to me at least) a deal breaker, because you can only connect bluetooth controllers, no wired controllers
There are wired options out there.

Does the Built-in mic work on the Switch? For instance, there are games like Fortnite that is necessary to play with headsets. The Nintendo Pro Controller currently doesn't have the Built-in Mic which is totally a bummer considering the name "Pro" in its title. PDP made a controller for the Nintendo Switch that is wired, but it's Built-in mic provides what the Pro Controller doesn't. I wonder if it works.

Yeah I guess I just got a crap one or something, tried using it multiple times over the last year and nothing connects, updated everything across the board and still nothing, it's suppose to be easy to use, but hell with how many times I've seen the same questions asked none of them beyond "hold the button down" has ever been properly answered. Soured my opinion of the company for sure. Don't know if I'd buy another one.

edit: ok heres what I got from reddit post. Someone says that 1914 model Xbox controller is known as Xbox X/S series controller (in my case) and NOT Xbox One controller thus doesnt work on 8bitdo due to its Bluetooth Low Energy tech.

Unfortunately I've got the right controller, the 8bitdo adapter and it did not work. Both the controller and the adapter keep flashing and do not sync up. Any ideas how yo fix it?

@@soullesscargo261 I had the same issue yesterday. I could fix it. I updated the controller then I updated the adapter with the software I downloaded on their website. They have two tools for updating, one general for all devices and another one for the adapter only. Get the second one.

Does the switch need to be in the dock
The Xbox pad and 8BitDo pair but won't appear on the Switch change controller screen.
It's an Xbox1 1708 model, it can connect to the laptop over Bluetooth and I've updated to the latest firmware.
The 8BitDo has been updated to the latest firmware. Pro Controller Wired Communication is on.
They pair, lights turn solid, pad vibrates. The pad also vibrates when the power on the switch comes on. But the Switch will not register it.
I've gone through the setup multiple times and restarted the Switch.
It will not appear as another controller. I feel like the 8BitDo is paired and taking power but the Switch is not registering it.
Any ideas?
Did you turn the Switch off completely (hold power button until a menu comes up and choose shutdown). That might help. If that fails, try un-syncing first, then shut down the Switch and try to sync it again.

No. The 8bitdo only supports one device at a time. If you want to pair more than one device you'd need two or more adapters.

Good question. I’ve not tried it. In theory, it could work but the only way to know for sure is to try.
This may not match your experience, but I have found that using multiple 8bitdo adapters causes serious lag, so much so that a second controller would be unplayable, were talking more than a full second. It only works for me using one adapter and one controller.

Are you sure you were using the correct version of the Xbox controller? Earlier versions don’t have Bluetooth.

I don't have the adapter, but I saw on the website that Xbox One and PS4 controllers have vibration. Like I said, I haven't tested these out, so don't quote me on this.
Does anybody know a way to remap the buttons? The whole reason I wanted to use an xbox controller is because I want the button placement to match the xbox controller... I hate B and A being reversed along with X and Y.
Not tried it but you could try remapping the buttons in the xbox controller app either on an Xbox or on PC. That might work. If you do try it, let me know how you get on.

Have you tried updating the firmware on the adapter? That sometimes helped.

Make sure the controller is bluetooth capable and its firmware is updated with an xbox - I read it doesn't work with the xbox live PC app. Make sure the 8bitdo adapter firmware is updated with a PC - there are a few amazon reviews that detail how to to do this.

Hey y'all, I got my XBox One Elite Series 2 Controller last week and I can't use it on my Switch, no matter what I do. I tried the 8Bitdo and the mayflassh. Both with the latest firmware. Is there a lucky one betwenn you who can use the Series 2 Controller with the Switch?
I've not tried yet, but it's on my list of to-dos. I'll get back to you when I know more.
The Elite Series 2 also doesn't work for me. There must be a different communication protocol of some sort.
