I would suspect that the actual $7 ones were sent to 'influencers' to drum up word of mouth for temu personally, that seems the normal tactics employed by these companies
They do have $7 but only at specific time for a limited amount. People buy a $7 Switch tells everyone then those people try out the app bc someone they know personally got a something legit, even though they probably won’t be able to get it. It’s a marketing deal.
@@TheGrimStrideI don’t think anyone personally knows someone who got those crazy deals. I know someone who uses Temu but, they really just buy stuffed animals for their kid. I’m not surprised that they actually get what they want in those cases as they are also spending about $20-30 on them. Not under $20 for a $300+ console.
For 20 seconds I thought this dude (Jacob R) was gunna give us a legitimate review. It’s disgusting how he is sent legit JPN switches and he tells us that’s what we can get for $7 on Temu. Absolute BS. I’m just shocked an influencer what take such an obvious lie and spew it to his followers. FYI: any game console you buy off Temu will be a poorly constructed, laggy, knock off. People getting these from temu and other sites for cheap has actually forced Amazon to required sellers to certify that they are selling the US version of the TotK switch when listing it for sale on Amazon. Everyone getting the $7 switches has flooded the US market with these foreign region systems.
My advice for shopping on TEMU would be the same I've upheld for Wish and AliExpress; Don't buy electronics, keep to simple stuff, I've gotten brushes, socks, just little things I wouldn't be sore over if it happened to be a knockoff.
Don't buy *built* electronics. When it comes to parts, AliExpress can often be a lifesaver (as long as you're not getting, say, more advanced ICs like microcontrollers, or PC parts)
I appreciate the detail and effort that went into this video, but personally the fact that you diddnt buy the $7 switch is misleading. The issue is that, as far as I know, theres no way to be sure that the ones you actually purchased are the same ones you would be sent if you were to buy the $7 ones.
He put "$7" in quotation marks in the title, which is a big hint that the $7 Switch was not $7. He also clearly states in the video how much he paid and is SUPER CLEAR about it. You people act like he should reveal the conclusion of his video in the title. He spent a ton of money to make this video, and isn't required to tell you what he paid in the title. The title needs the "$7 Switch" part, so people know what the video is about. That isn't misleading at all, if anything, he is far and away clearer than most RUclipsrs would be. He is spending money so other people don't have to waste their time.
This whole video is a scam. You did not buy legit Nintendo Switch Consoles for $7 from Temu. You accepted a deal from them, where they sent you legit Switches, but made out you bought them for $7 or £25 and you were permitted to act like it was a scam, just to drive business their way… 🙄
It’s an old trick. There are even sellers on amazon who sell legit products to get good reviews but changing the title and photos. (The url stays the same so the reviews also)
That 'odd' Hong Kong mains adapter is in fact a 100% legit UK adapter. Hong Kong is an ex-British colony, their power outlets are still the same as ours I believe.
Yep! I was going to comment about that. It's weird how Hong Kong get the correct plug while Singapore and Malaysia get the wrong plug on their Nintendo power adaptors (we get European instead of British plugs on ours) and have to use plug converters. Probably was a decision on the part of the local distributor. For me here in Singapore, I was able to get a power adaptor with the correct plug from a grey market seller, and I believe the distributors expected us to use plug converters.
I was on the Temu band wagon, loved the products and cost. However, I returned a dress because it did not fit. They issued me a credit. Then, they debited my back account the cost of the dress. Stating they did not receive the dress. So far, we are even except I don't have the dress. Then they send me a confirmation of receiving the dress. So, now they have the dress, they have the original payment and a second payment they debited from my account. I have been texting back and forth and they continue to state I have the credit. I decided I was tired of arguing with them and would use my credit and chalk up the $68.55 as a learning lesson. I tried to use my credit and received a notice that my credit was not available. I am posting this on all the Temu haul videos I can find. If you buy from Temu - do not return anything! They are horrible and have now charged me twice for a dress that I do not have.
I had an issue with some hats I ordered from them and wasn’t satisfied. They reimbursed my money and told me not to worry about sending the hats back… and this was all in a matter of 10 minutes.. super strange you had that issue
Call your bank and tell them it’s fraud, it is fraud and temu won’t fight your bank, you will get your money back.. don’t make it a learning lesson, don’t give those thieves your hard earned money
You can tell it's a Japanese console by the serial prefix. NA consoles only start with XAW, XKW, XTW & XJW. Any other serial is foreign and can't be repaired by NOA but can be replaced with a domestic model. Japanese consoles will always end with J like XAJ, XTJ, XKJ, & XJJ. Foreign models won't have any issues downloading NA software and the digital software region is based on your account not the console. If you had a Japanese game card though you wouldn't be able to use NA DLC with it.
I understand your logic but its flawed, xaj xkj units are all, over the uk, with the 3 pin plug, china version (tencent). only has Chinese language, no nintendo id, have to sign in via wechat. hk version is the same as the western ones, and comes with a 3 pin plug as its a older british colony
I bought a brand-new switch from BestBuy and has issues connecting to 5G as well. Luckily I have 2.4 activated as well and after the update it worked just dandy on 5G. By the way: Anyone that has a little bit of understanding of the channels should look into the overlap with their neighbors. I moved mine to a different channel and the connection was night and day.
Yah moving channels to find a free spot is a doddle & definitely worth it. Also splitting your WiFi into 2.4 & 5GHz is a Good idea - did it years ago to support 3DS & Vita. UK viewer here.
Part of me was expecting all of these to be one of those "Famiclone" consoles with a bunch of NES roms packed in. Also, I highly doubt it's even possible for Switch consoles to be infected with malware.
@@CecilTheDarkKnight234 well if its modded yeah pretty easy but mostly likely unless its signed by nintendo the code wouldn't take unless it's modded and/or jailbroken unless it has some kind of exploit and most hackers hasn't even figured out one for newer switches
@@jeffreypeters5578 ahh true but only the launch or early switch models are capable. As for modding the others you need a modchip/board which requires some high level soldering skills.
I believe it's due to Nintendo coming out with a new version to keep up with handhelds like the Steam deck etc. They're made in China and Japan so there is probably a surplus of consoles left in their factories so knowing that gamers are going after the new they're selling them at a lower rate to make something off them opposed from letting them become even more obsolete to the point they wouldn't be able to give them away.
This is more about Temu than Nintendo. This is unrelated to the Steam Deck and Switch rivalry. The Oled isn’t really meant to compete since there no real significant upgrades to the hardware. It’s not a switch pro it’s just a switch with a prettier screen and other small quality of life changes.
I think TEMU has Chinese people buying up used Switches from Yahoo Auctions, Mercari etc in Japan and then sell it for almost no revenue. Then they make use of gained interest by applying viruses, social frauds etc.

Just Famiclones. This is a really old game, nothing new. Some Famiclones are not that bad, though! You can stumble on one running a pretty decent emulator, sometimes!
I've had similar issues with Switch OLED not connecting to WiFi and it can unfortunately be a bad WiFi chip on the board (not to be confused with the WiFi antenna that sits on top of the heat shield which is easier to replace than the chip).
I had the same wifi issues with all of the switches I got from Temu. I just left the explanation in a separate comment, but I'll put it here as well to help spread the explanation to people interested: I didn't go into the wifi issue very much because retention data shows that most people don't care about the technical stuff, so I'll explain here. The 2.4GHz wifi issue I had was because I wasn't close enough to my router (which is a fault of the crappy network card in the switch - I was literally 20ft + 2 plaster walls away from my router, and in a spot where every other device I own has 0 issues). The bigger issue is that the upper channels in the 5GHz wifi band are blocked by both the Japanese and Hong Kong switch consoles. This is because there is a portion of the 5GHz wifi band that works in the US, but is restricted in Japan. So, if you're in the US (like I am) and your router is automatically assigning your wifi channels, you will likely have issues connecting to 5GHz. You can avoid this issue if you tell your router to not use those upper 5GHz channels, but the fact is, most people don't know how or don't want to do that. So while the switch is region free, your wifi experience will not be the same if you buy a Hong Kong or Japanese switch to use in the US.
Exactly! I switched my modem to 2.4 and I got a repeater for the 5G I think (?) and my switch is fine but I take it somewhere else with regular wifi and it has internet seizures

well if they did, this 'switch' itself probably has malware on it. So it may work, but when you're putting in your credentials it may save it out (along with any attached credit card info) from which they could make their money back through that. used laptops/computers are prob more of a concern for viruses/malware, bc those platforms are much more open, but if something like that did happen on switch, it would explain the very low cost. They have to be losing money making it, the question is, why would someone sell you a product that costs them more to make? $ cost isn't the only factor, be wary, usually when something sounds too good to be true, it's bc there's some other factor in play. Like any of the 'free' social media sites, they aren't charging you, but they are selling your data and preferences to advert companies and the like, and that's where they get the money/value from

The WiFi channels won't matter. My Japanese console connects with no issues. However, it is very possible there might be an issue with the console's internal wi-fi connection.
The wifi channels absolutely do matter. You can’t use the upper band on a Japanese switch because those frequencies are restricted in japan. Your 5GHz wifi probably just happens to run on the lower 5GHz frequencies so you don’t have that issue. I’ve tried this on 6 different switch consoles
I realize I didn't go into the wifi issue very far in the video, so here's the full explanation: The 2.4GHz wifi issue I had was because I wasn't close enough to my router (which is a fault of the crappy network card in the switch - I was literally 20ft + 2 plaster walls away from my router, and in a spot where every other device I own has 0 issues). I didn't watch the video since people said it was misleading and not $7, but for anyone wondering, yes you can get a $7 Switch. My fiancé got one months ago during one of those "new hour" deals. The plugs for Hong Kong is UK standard, like they are in Iraq, Iran and quite a lot of foreign places that adopted the new British safety plug which replaced the older and more dangerous round pin standard which was killing more people a year than smoking back in the day as no fuses, no shielded prongs, heavy draw plugs unprotected except by the main boards two or three slow burn fuse wires which did pop but usually after frying humans or starting major fires so in the sixties HM Government said enough and ordered a new ultra safe system. It's not a scam if they're really giving away 10 OLED Switches a day for $7 as that's all their advertising. Only problem would be being 1 of the 10 to actually get one. Personally, I wouldn't even try as it's hard enough to buy a console that has millions upfront, PS5, as that took me almost a year. I was lucky with my Switches as I managed to get 2 from Best Buy because they allowed you to buy one of each color. Just had to pay for everything upfront. I then gave one to my nieces as a present.
Haha main reason why I got premium. At this point it's kinda obvious they are pushing horrible ads with horrible music to push people to buy their subscription.
I own a Japanese Switch, quite practically because they were much cheaper in Japan. (And I'm not adding my holiday travel to the cost) In Europe you'll pay around €330 for one and they rarely go on sale due to the (presumably) low margins. In Japan However they are much more affordable, I looked around Akiba and with the conversion at the time + the tax-free shopping, I managed to get a new OLED for €175. That's a huge discount for this type of hardware. There were used ones available too for even less. If those types of prices can exist on the market, temu would certainly have the capital to purchase a grand volume of them for a bulk discount increasing margin enough to make it interesting in NA or the EU, allowing them to sell them at MSRP for regular margin, and then every once in a while for 7USD or 10EUR without making a loss on it. It's effective marketing for a sketchy company of it's kind, but obviously it's safest to remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
I got one from a 'hat trick' event today. Need to invite like 2-3 more people though. Already 'invited' 3 on my other phones, and one on family members.

I managed to be able to get one of the splatoon OLED for the $7 deal and it did arrive and everything works fine, but I used a prepaid card since I didn’t trust the app and I was right to do so since the card no longer worked or had funds even though it was still supposed to have around $30 left on it
Also for anyone wondering how I managed to get the deal I just spammed tapped my screen on where the purchase button would appear and managed to get the deal on my second attempt
These things are a "Schrodinger's cat" of scams, they both are and aren't simultaneously. Honestly though the Wi-Fi situation is absolutely BS and ruins it. For some I'm sure it would be fine but it's just an extra hiccup that really recks the experience overall.

Not a single Switch come up on Temu for me but only those emulator consoles. If it was indeed only $7 it was definitely some sort of money laundry going on. Temu is basically like Amazon or eBay where people can sell their staff. I can imagine these consoles were stolen or something. No way there is nothing wrong with them for $7.
the reason why everything is mostly in like Japanese and other Asian languages is because Temu is a marketplace to buy stuff from Asian countries. It says so in its bio i believe in the play store for Android, Idk about iPhone and apple products because i don't own any apple products.
The different language versions literally have no difference. They might even be more valuable. I got the japanese version of Mario Odyssey and it’s worth a lot more than the NA version.
I got 2 of the $7 switch from temu. One was Japanese splatoon game and the other was an US oled. I made sure that they worked. And sold them. Made people made when I proved that it was a real thing.
I can't finish watching the video as I have already had it interrupted three times by ads for Temu and one ad for Tiktok in six minutes. Absolutely disgusting what RUclips has allowed to happen concerning ads. US Congress and rhe European Union need to look at this as soon as possible.
They advertised it as $7, but you cant buy it for that. Hence a scam, at the very least its extremely misleading. Not to mention they require a bunch of personal data.
If they actually are selling them for $7 and not just some marketing scam to get people in the door, people are probably using scalping bots to buy them up to resell.
No idea why you would spend almost $350 for a Japanese Nintendo switch from a Chinese app and have no idea what condition it was in or if it worked but then buy 3 of them that’s crazy to me. Especially since you can get them for $280-$315 in store you know you have the real thing same day. I could understand getting them for $7 or even $100 from Temu but full price. SMDH
Are the joy cons genuine and work fine? That’s what I’ve been wondering, I mean the console itself they could have done anything with it but the grip, dock, charger and cable they couldn’t really do much besides getting them dirty, and the joy cons i suppose they could also have some buttons not working or something but yeah
I'm guessing the reason its so cheap is because it was minor defects and was probably sent back for repair, hong kong switches dont have warranty so if it breaks its on you and you cant send it back to Nintendo, also the fact that temu wants you to invite more people to the website so they will get you into a mini game where you have to invite 5 new people to get the 7$ switch so they are gonna make more money doing that than just selling the switch normally.
All right, time for some Wi-Fi five knowledge. Wi-Fi5 channels go from 36 to 165. They are selectable within the router manually. Non-DFS channels work with all Wi-Fi 5 devices, whereas DFS channels may not always work with every device, and share bandwidth with weather and radar equipment, which has priority over your Wi-Fi signal. Roku and Amazon fire Stick are two devices that I have found that will not connect or stay connected to a DFS channel. But if you manually exclude DFS channels or hard set your router to a non-DFS channel, all the sudden your Roku or fire Stick work just fine. This is because the Wi-Fi chipset in the device is not fully Wi-Fi5 compliant. In the example in the video, I would recommend he set his Wi-Fi 5 GHz radio to a channel between 36 and 64, preferably 48 and see how that works. If you can observe interference from other APs, then shift the channel or the frequency until that interference is gone. If your neighbors leave there router and auto channel hop mode, you may experience intermittent interference.
Tbh my regular switch that I bought at best buy in 2019 gets that network error a lot and sometimes I can't connect it to wi-fi for hours/days at a time, I called Nintendo support for it but nothing really helped. Maybe some switches just don't connect to routers very good?
for $7 you could jailbreak it, tho it's gonna be very hard and risky for this model since it's patched so you need to buy a modchip for $3 and install it yourself (or ask/pay for someone who knows) but it'll be worth it, once it's jailbreak you don't need wifi anymore, now you got a jailbroken switch for just $10

My advice for shopping on TEMU would be the same I've upheld for Wish and AliExpress;
Don't buy electronics, keep to simple stuff, I've gotten brushes, socks, just little things I wouldn't be sore over if it happened to be a knockoff.
Yeah the main things, i did that too
Don't buy *built* electronics.

Not even that his title of the video is misleading too.

Yep! I was going to comment about that. It's weird how Hong Kong get the correct plug while Singapore and Malaysia get the wrong plug on their Nintendo power adaptors (we get European instead of British plugs on ours) and have to use plug converters. Probably was a decision on the part of the local distributor.
For me here in Singapore, I was able to get a power adaptor with the correct plug from a grey market seller, and I believe the distributors expected us to use plug converters.

temu has scam switches too, they are a business to consumer middleman app (china to the world).

I just left the explanation in a separate comment, but I'll put it here as well to help spread the explanation to people interested:
I didn't go into the wifi issue very much because retention data shows that most people don't care about the technical stuff, so I'll explain here.
So while the switch is region free, your wifi experience will not be the same if you buy a Hong Kong or Japanese switch to use in the US.

well if they did, this 'switch' itself probably has malware on it.

The 2.4GHz wifi issue I had was because I wasn't close enough to my router (which is a fault of the crappy network card in the switch - I was literally 20ft + 2 plaster walls away from my router, and in a spot where every other device I own has 0 issues).

It's not a scam if they're really giving away 10 OLED Switches a day for $7 as that's all their advertising. Only problem would be being 1 of the 10 to actually get one. Personally, I wouldn't even try as it's hard enough to buy a console that has millions upfront, PS5, as that took me almost a year. i swear to god the temu ads are so annoying i might actually buy youtube premium
The 5g v 2.4g difference for a switch is negligible. Most routers default to put out both anyway.

That's exactly what this is.
Look at around 9mins, he paid 300$+.
Why he would hide that at the end is weird, either this is promotion for temu or for himself.
8:39 1 of the Wi-Fi networks was FBI surveillance van 💀
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahah hahahahahahah :D good stuff,
Honestly I have no problem with the whole getting non US Nintendo switch since all real Nintendo switches should be region free. I kind of been on the fence about putting my trust in Temu this video kind of helped me kind of make a decision honestly to me it's not worth the risk I rather go to a Walmart and buy a Switch lite there I have no interest in buying a Switch OLED temu sounds too good to be true when they first came out and as the saying goes if it's too good to be true it probably is
I got my Switch from Temu for 240 after coupon. Took ten days to arrive
Same thing, I signed 1 hour before and filled everything, shipping address and a PayPal account.
Yeah never use a real credit card cause they will take little bits of money out without you knowing
Where are these listings
@@RubMySweatyThighsGone. It was a promo that finished
These things are a "Schrodinger's cat" of scams, they both are and aren't simultaneously. Honestly though the Wi-Fi situation is absolutely BS and ruins it. For some I'm sure it would be fine but it's just an extra hiccup that really recks the experience overall.
Yeah mine takes a good while to download games and I didn’t realize this is why. Can’t complain for $7 tho 🤷♂️
@@Teku175I'm glad you're okay with being a puppet for a pyramid scheme. Go on, keep advertising their name.
@@JetpacksWasYes2 huh? Ok then. I’ll just go back to playing TOTK
@@Teku175 Enjoy while the switch lasts. I'm sure it'll give out 6 months to a year. Lmao.
@@JetpacksWasYes2It's a switch bro, why you acting like it's different just cause he got it from Temu.
The problem is the Wifi channel on your network, you need to lower the channel number on your router settings.
I hope no one falls for this. He’s lying.
Watxh the whole video, he explains he paid around 350-400 depending on the console and he cant verify “reviews” saying that people paid only 7$ hes not a scammer lol
I was thinking for 7 bucks I'll learn all Hong Kong 🇭🇰
I lived in a place with sandstorms and the dust would get inside of my vita carrying case, inside a closed locker, inside a sealed tent.
Dust can get inside boxes if there is a lot of ambient dust.
Even selling stolen ones for only $7 wouldn't make sense. I think just this RUclipsr is full of crap
I actually got one for 7 dollars almost 5 months ago and it works perfectly and nothing is wrong with it even to today!
This video is the biggest scam . There ain't no switch for 7 of whatever currency
the reason why everything is mostly in like Japanese and other Asian languages is because Temu is a marketplace to buy stuff from Asian countries. It says so in its bio i believe in the play store for Android, Idk about iPhone and apple products because i don't own any apple products.
Hell for $7 I'll change my wifi channels.
Hell, for $7, I'll move to Chi--- no. lol
Do they still do the 7 dollar switches? I can’t find them, I won some free items before tho
@yes9501 haven't seen the ad in a few weeks. Think they change it. Cause the big ad that I see now. Are some wannabe apple air pod ear buds.
I can't finish watching the video as I have already had it interrupted three times by ads for Temu and one ad for Tiktok in six minutes.
Absolutely disgusting what RUclips has allowed to happen concerning ads.
US Congress and rhe European Union need to look at this as soon as possible.
Hard to call it a scam when you literally just showed three consoles. Scam part being Wi-Fi compatibility issues.
He never called it a scam, but he did pay full price for each of them.
It's a scam then.
Pay full price at a reputable retailer not these fraudsters.
@@bigbabatunde1218how is it a scam he got the product he paid for.
They advertised it as $7, but you cant buy it for that.
Hence a scam, at the very least its extremely misleading.
Not to mention they require a bunch of personal data.
I tried to get one but every time it went live it would already be sold out lol
It’s always sold out 😂
If they actually are selling them for $7 and not just some marketing scam to get people in the door, people are probably using scalping bots to buy them up to resell.
Bro the temu ad started playing as soon as I clicked this video which is also about temu
7$ is too good to be true! btw its nice that the switch isn't region locked not like the other Nintendo consoles
Yeah you can't buy one for that price
@@LilfoxTheHybridHylian5967They were legitimately sold for $7 but only like 10 a day at a specific time and only for the promotional period.
Yeah I don't believe any of those were 7 bucks sorry that's some bs
Just got mine here oled ver. No issues, new no adapter and all the accessories for na ver, cant complain.
Honestly just as a way to get joy cons it's worth the 7 bucks.
So basically a pyramid scheme type of thing?
@@NuiYabuko yea

what should i put on my head next?

Who all saw a Temu ad before the video started???
Probably everyone
You can still use the joy cons with your original switch? And the docking station? If you can I feel like that alone is worth $7
I think he had to spend more than $7 on it. Apparently you have to do a lot of things to get that promotion.
Fun fact: Ive got a Temu ad before this video started.
Tbh my regular switch that I bought at best buy in 2019 gets that network error a lot and sometimes I can't connect it to wi-fi for hours/days at a time, I called Nintendo support for it but nothing really helped. Maybe some switches just don't connect to routers very good?
The switch just has a crappy network card. The real issue I had is the fact that the non NA switches don’t have full 5GHz support
Where the hell did you find a Nintendo switch for so cheap i cannot find it to save my life
That zelda switch is gorgeous.
Bro why did i get an temu ad before watching this😭😭
I FEEL STALKED NOW
for $7 you could jailbreak it, tho it's gonna be very hard and risky for this model since it's patched so you need to buy a modchip for $3 and install it yourself (or ask/pay for someone who knows) but it'll be worth it, once it's jailbreak you don't need wifi anymore, now you got a jailbroken switch for just $10
9:42 he didn't pay $7 tho.
Yeah...I still don't see them for $7
im confident they replaced the wifi chip to theirs to get information from the US. i strongly advise to NOT get it from temu or any china store
where can i find these offers? cuz when im searching on temu phrase "nintendo switch conesole'' it just shows the accesories
Don't order from TEMU. People have reported having had accounts/cards compromised after ordering from TEMU. Just google it
Same did you ever find one?
Wow I thought for sure for 7 bucks you would get a counterfeit switch. How did they do that? For 7 bucks ?
He didn't pay 7 dollars, he basically paid full price
Oh, so they did lie about it....ok@@CarpetBanana
They only give a few out a day for their promotomotional opening
