Would strongly recommend reading this twitter thread I wrote up recently about Yingxing's name (Jupiter) and how that ties into his relationship with Dan Heng (Azure Dragon) and abundance (Wood Element). x.com/Lalodyslore/status/1767155842053533878?s=20
Hoyo going LENGTHS to make sure Renheng is heavily implied to be canon but leaving it just ambiguous enough to not get shot down by censorship laws and honestly I gotta respect the hustle
yet there are still some jingren, blafka, dancae/danstelle, danmarch shippers denying how canon blade and dan heng are...(not hate to the shippers themselves but some of them just straight up deny the lore)
@@akkiese except that Dan Heng doesn’t want to follow Dan Feng path and have a new life, for Blade the torture caused by jingliu made him forget who he was and became insane. The people who deny renheng have a point since the ship you say is canon is yingfeng
i just saw someone on reddit say that the high cloud quintet is a baiheng harem, yet dan heng literally states he felt nothing upon the mention of baiheng's name
It must also be taken into account that Jingliu had spoken to the preceptors, so they must have blatantly lied to her, taking advantage of how mentally unstable she must have been due to Baiheng's death
@@sunsetRain12 jingliu has dialogue with the preceptors that dan heng views during the vidyadhara mirage echos. she asks to "see her" meaning they likely told her about bailu but lied saying bailu was created from the sedition as a means of misdirection. the preceptors own experiments after the sedition happened made bailu since we know she is the bloomborn scion.
Great video, it’s so good to see the loufu’s history receiving some good recognition, not being dismissed as boring or bad. I’m very excited for penacony but it’s a shame that so many people keep putting the loufu storyline down because of it
Yup the luofu story is riddled with red herrings, liars, and contrasting agendas. Plus most of the lore is scattered across various readables which makes it hard to understand what is happening.
@@rinaloveskiwis the actual lore was good but the presentation was very yikes and it spent most of it's time gaslighting you. First Kafka then Tingyun then Bailu's maids/preceptors and Jingliu. RIP people who didn't read all the lore books and character stories... We needed more voiced side quests that present information... Shouldn't have to run around clicking on every Vidyadhara egg to know that gladiator Marum didn't want to help DF or that DF's personal guards were killed after the sedition etc. And the wiki is poorly maintained and full of fanfiction which doesn't help...
I really like how the Stellaron Hunters are all rivals or counterparts to various degrees to the Express crew. It gives an 'its personal' angle that the Fatui Harbingers lack, for the most part.
Maybe Himeko? They're both obvious HI3 references with a technical skillset (Himeko's the Express' navigator and repaired the train from scrap, SW is the team hacker obviously). @@tsunami3963

Also, the connections between renheng and the song of everlasting regret (the story of Yang Guifei) Dan Feng / Dan Hegn share an extreme amount of similarities with Yang Yhuan (Yang Guifei) in a narrative sense. This also links to his relationship with Blade / Yingxing. Both Yang Yuhuan and Dan Feng were made to carry the shame of being 'the end of a dynasty' (Guifei with Tang Dynasty, Dan Feng / Dan Heng with the end of the Yubie Dynasty) the reason? Love. Yang's love for Emperor Xuanzon was blamed for the weakening of China's court and resulted in civil war while love was used to manipulate Dan Feng into committing his sin. Both were scapegoats for a bigger plot. The title of the poem 'Eternal Regrets of the High Elder' is also a reference to Song of Everlasting (or Eternal) Regret we're using the same character for regret. Both poems talk about how Guifei and DF are made to make decisions they know they will regret for their beloved, for the mere chance of making them happy, even if they also cause them pain. They also carry associations with jade being used to interconnect romance, clouds, and the concept of 'heaven' (i will continue this text later!)
You're so real for this!! My friend is into poetry and did an analysis of all the related poems. It's in the description under Aria Poetry Analysis. You should check it out and let us know what you think!
At this point I believe that we need to wait longer to make more clear on what really happen cause none of information from the people who was involve is reliable. Blade is Insane, Jingliu is insane, have bad memory, also bias. Dan Feng being force to become Dan Heng with only bit and piece of unrelated memory. Jing Yuan only get involve with the aftermath so he probably don't have much information as well. Any other source of information is just straight up false in my opinion. Even if Jingliu have a clearer memory I think that she herself would not have the right information as she have arrive after Dan Feng and YingXing's action. I think the best bet we have here is for Dan Heng to retain all of Dan Feng's memory, since Dan Feng whether guilty or not is basically at the very centre of the incident.
There are a couple of things that don't even make, Jingliu implies Dan Heng and Yingxing tried to resurrect Baiheng but her lore has Dan Feng say he tried to create a new high elder, so which is the truth, this then gets muddied even further by the implication in his companion quest that it was in order to free the Vidyadhara from their cycle of reincarnation. Blade literally had Dan Feng carved into his body so he wouldn't forget about him. Dan Heng literally doesn't know who Blade is or why he's being chased despite meeting multi0le times and Blade constantly trying to remind him, while he can at least recognize Jingliu when he meets her. It takes Dan Heng an entire conversation about his past with Yingxing for him to remember him, nor does he ever link Blade to Yingxing until Jingliu spells it out for him, meanwhile he was able to remember parts of Baiheng just from hearing her name. Blade is the only one with a red string around his bracer, Dan Heng does not. Despite both earings being red the designs are completely different if they were meant to be a match they would be the same or at least closer in design. The option where Dan Heng says he'll accompany Blade until the end as proof the relationship is romantic ignores the other option where Dan Heng tells Blade to just give up since they can't kill each other, indicating that the first option is just pure resignation that he'll never be rid of Blade until that time comes. While there may be hints of romantic undertones, every single bit is all on Blade/Yingxings side, none of it is on Dan Heng's. While it states that Baihengs name doesn't illicit any feelings for Dan Heng, there is no mention that Yingxings does, there is also the fact that despite his pride Dan Feng would always run errands for Baiheng, hinting they were close, and also despite claiming the name elicits no feelings for him Jingliu was immediately able to tell that Dan Heng had recalled some memories of Baiheng something that indicates that it did indeed elicit feelings on his face. Jingliu's forecast starts out the same way Blade and Dan Heng's do by saying a sword and then the length and weight which only changes as she is getting older in them. Fansongs are not canon, hell there is a recent Hoyofair video where it ships Baiheng and Yingxing. You can't say those songs shipping Dan Heng and Blade together are actually canon and deny a video shown off by MiHoYo shipping Baiheng and Blade. she brings up some Chinese ad in which she says Dan Heng is blushing because he sees Blade is now in the room, however look at the dialogue when that happens, his pose and expression when it happens, he gets a very serious look on his face points out to the audience and says something along the lines of "this is where you will be buried while your bones are being dissected", while they are telling a story in the ad its very clear that Dan Heng is saying that directly to Blade.
@@Vandalieu He has the same expression when remembering both Baiheng and Yingxing. In the Yingxing part, more emphasis was placed on facial expressions instead of just showing his back as was the case with the Baiheng part. For the part about Dan Heng not remembering the Blade as Yingxing, and remembering Jingliu once he met her, it may have two explanations. 1) Maybe it's because Yingxing changed so drastically that he became a Blade, while Jingliu didn't change. 2) It is simply a plot device. Dan Heng's reaction when meeting Jingliu is contradictory to what he mentioned when meeting Blade in the Trailblaze Mission, where he mentions that there was also a woman who was pursuing him, who thought was Jingliu because it was impossible for there to be someone other than her. Furthermore, you contradict yourself when you mention that "Just give up" should not be overlooked when talking to Blade, while when meeting Jingliu there is the option of not getting to know her. Which video shown off by MiHoYo shipping Baiheng and Blade? Baiheng literally only appeared in Jingliu's Companion Mission.
@@wajdmaa1196 there is no contradiction, when saying that he remembers Jingliu a little, as she outright calls him a liar when he says he doesn't, which is later shown to be the case when he has a flashback of Baiheng when Jingliu mentions her name yet can lie and get called out by Jingliu who is aware that you are lying, in other words the other option where he says he doesn't remember or that he didn't recall a thing are both lies. Contrast that with his backstory in his light cone and base form story which makes it clear that Dan Heng didn't remember Blade at all only knowing that Blade hated him for some reason despite the fact the only thing that changed was that Blade's hair was black again instead of white. It literally took Jingliu talking about Yingxing's past for Dan Heng to even recall him, and later for her to say Yingxing became immortal for Dan Heng to realize that Blade was Yingxing. It had to be spelled out to him for Dan Heng to remember Blade was his old friend, depite having met him multiple times up to that point. The Blade/Baiheng thing comes from from the passerby's ragged embroidered coat, where it talks of a jaden flask he was planning to give to his bosom friend only to realize with shock the person he longed for was no longer there. Which is later proven to be Baiheng in Jingliu's character quest where she places the flask he made on her starskiff lamenting he was not able to give it to Baiheng.
@@Vandalieu Yes, he is lying if you choose the first option after remembering her. "This name is unfamiliar to you and elicits no feelings. However, a voice inexplicably rings in your ears." He just remembered her, but she not elicits any feelings for him, unlike the Yingxing part, which it wasn't even given options to choose. When meeting Jingliu. "Do I... know you? Dan Heng: Do we... know each other? Jingliu: Hmm... the answer to that is both yes and no. However, your cold and indifferent tone is identical to the person I knew back then." She didn't accuse him of lying. Not recognizing Blade as Yingxing. I mean personality, not appearance, this is highlighted visually in scenes in Jingliu's Companion Mission. Consider that I'm leaning toward it being a plot device, given the problems with Xianzhou's story. So you mean relic of beta and not video. Then go and read some of the OP's comments here, she talked about this argument.
@@wajdmaa1196 getting a flash after just hearing her name is way more than what it took him to remember who Blade was, despite clearly meeting and killing Blade multiple times, saying poor story writing is the cause of just an excuse for how much it took Dan Heng to remember Blade. Claiming that an items story that was released in the beta doesn't matter when it has remained true and even partially brought up in Jingliu's makes no sense as an argument. His other option where he says he she looks familiar but doesn't recall her has Jingliu say that everyone who says they can't remember are just running from their past, and right before talking in length about Yingxing, Jingliu calls Dan Heng out for pretending to not remember a thing in an angry tone which also shows in her responses to the first 2 options, the third where he he says that Dan Feng's past doesn’t have anything to do with him lacks the agressive tone, showing she did not believe for a second that he didn't recall her when they met.
I just want to say that this is the most detailed renheng stuff that I have ever found and that introduced so much knowledge that I didn't even know existed- their fate is literally intertwined! Thank you for going through the process of finding all of this and explaining it in to such lengths, really, that takes a lot of effort and you definitely deserve the sub!
Thanks for the kind words! That ritual was 1000% always going to work, not a chance of failure. I'm so glad for you! I got Blade on a few rolls the first time he came out and he's most of the reason that I then became interested in deep diving into the lore.
the marriage typo is so real;;;; really don't understand the ppl who say its been "debunked" or what not just cause "ACKSUALLY it mainly refers to the parents marrying their children off" well ok it's still heavily associated with marriage/engagement regardless and theres a much easier way to convey a friendship rather than making that elaborate typo.. and don't think parents are really relevant when one's an orphan and another cannot reproduce lol. plus they got a whole bunch of tickets and inquries abt it but their response was how they can't elaborate further like it was 100% intentional;; keep in mind that other stuff got retranslated but the typo is still there
1000% they've acknowledged it and haven't changed it so if it was really a typo it wouldn't still be in the game. People forget Hoyo is legally required to make things just ambiguous enough for gay couples to pass censorship. I've said it before but there's a reason Hoyo went from almost exclusively canon gay ships to suddenly 'no ships are canon' philosophy once the censorship laws got heavier 😂 Government said "straights or nothing" and they picked nothing.
for sure and also i noticed the renheng wiki page is kinda out of date but i would love to see all the stuff from this video on there if u have the time😊
(First and foremost I'm a Genshin player, not a HSR player, but I really enjoy the lore HSR has) I enjoy shipping male characters, but most of the stuff is just my own personal interests. I usually don't hard core ship without good evidence. Like I enjoy the Neuvillette/Wriothesley ship but there's not really much canonically going on. However, Kaveh/Alhaitham is very hard to ignore. After reading and watching so many people explain Dan Heng and Blade's relationship it's so difficult to deny it, especially with all the symbolism and understanding China's way of getting around censorship. I'm extremely happy that you put in so much effort to explain the culture in particular since a lot of people dismiss symbolism as "grasping at straws." Knowing that MiYoHo/Hoyo is very eager to ship same gender couples also explains so much. Sad that the censorship got so bad. I feel like Genshin could have had a lot of interesting character dynamics if they were allowed to go further. I'm looking forward to see what else we learn about Dan Heng and Blade and if there will be any more strongly suggested pairings in the future.
I like shipping too as long as people don't get toxic about it, I mainly like gay and lesbian ships but I also like straight ships too, like, my favorite ship in Star Rail is March x Trailblazer (mainly Stelle in my case) x Firefly
@shwunari um, so basically there was this guy who was homophobic and other things, he wanted his waifu (baiheng) to be in this quest so he messed up the lore and made it all about Bai heng...that's all I know.
@shwunari i know right?, I heard that guy made some pretty disgusting remarks on some stuff and said he enjoyed watching the girls cry and suffer over their ship (Dan heng x blade) being ruined.
Thank you for the captions! And for all the info on the cultural details/references. Can't believe that some people don't find the Xianzhou storyline interesting, all these details add so much depth! Especially with practically every character being an unreliable narrator. The mystery of what exactly Dan Feng did...hope we find out more soon. Would love to hear your thoughts on Bailu!
I read the analysis of your friend on twitter about the poems. I cried so much, cause it is definitely heart breaking what happened to dang feng and yingxing. I mean we still dont know and I am confused as hell. What i am so annoyed about is the cencorship that happebed due to miserable en translations, so I am very grateful for your video and your friend to make up analysis.
This video is everything. It's a shame so much is hidden in places most players won't look, there's so much symbolism Hoyo picked when designing them it's astounding there's so many naysayers against a ship so good. I also vote for a video on Jingliu's quest, Hoyo seems to be choosing to misdirect us but it's done in such a clunky way most people haven't caught on to the contradictions in her story... Excellent stuff, keep up the great work
Something I’ll always go insane for is how dhil has a red streak of hair (I think) at the same place where df wore his earring… maybe there’s a cultural explanation but I still can’t help but think it’s supposed to represent that same earring I just love the idea that the earring, a sign of df’s love and connection to yx, was carried over to his new life in a more permanent form..!!! Also would mean rh still technically have those matching earrings lol
Even as a big renheng fan i didnt know a lot of the details mentioned in this video. Thank you so much for putting so much work and effort into compiling all their lore. Im super excited to see more lore videos from you
So there was a JingHeng shipper that came into the comments, wrote an essay, then deleted the comment (they know who they are). I had the essay saved because I was writing a response but since the comment is gone I'll make this comment to respond in case they come back. There was a lot of misinformation in that comment so I feel it is necessary to still address what they said. (Apologies because I do get a bit sassy since its hot rn and I get moody in hot weather.) It's also slightly out of order in some sections. And I reached word limit so there's two comments.... 1. You said: "the idea that caelorum venti wanted to free dan heng and the ten lords commission wanted to kill him is the most glaring inaccuracy in this video. in an appeal from the vidyadhara, in the screenshot shared itself, it is written that the alliance and caelorum venti together made the deal of punishing dan heng through molting rebirth." I guess if you squint your head and tilt it sideways you can read that passage as the 10 lords being so benevolent and Venti is the murderous one, but your interpretation makes no sense from a contextual standpoint. The 10 lords are the ones who are responsible for punishment and have the largest authority - no way they would need to make a deal with Venti in order to get HIM to allow THEM to not punish Dan Feng. That just doesn't make sense. Not to mention, in The Dragon Returns Home, this is given additional context: "Caelorum Venti of the Yaoqing put forward a strong case for you, and the Ten-Lords Commission spared you from capital punishment. But the punishment of molting rebirth could not be avoided." 'Put forth a strong case for you' means he was defending Dan Feng, since the capital punishment would have killed him permanently as the Vidyadhara that are killed before returning to the sea are properly dead. 2. You said: "the preceptors had their own power struggle after the sedition, his own teacher manipulated dan feng to even have had the research or protocol for th resurrection. the preceptors and the vidyadhara were divided in groups of whether they wanted the high elder system (and their alliance with the xianzhou natives, whom some of them think to not benefit their race) or whether they wanted their own autonomous rule, and dan feng's unreliability gave them the perfect opportunity to snipe the xianzhou-vidyadhara partnership. these are implied, not outright stated, but refer to the internal strife among the vidyadhara and their reaction to the general freeing him, it is evident that the ten lords were satisfied with dan heng's exile." You are correct that the preceptors did have their own power struggles, as demonstrated in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle. I think you've misunderstood something, though - it's not that they were arguing over the state of their alliance with the Xianzhou, but rather whether they were going to continue subscribing to HE authority or commit to ruling together as a council. This is HE vs council debate IS clearly stated in the text of the readable and does not have to be inferred. Xuepu says: "...After the sedition, the Vidyadhara's reputation has been incredibly tarnished. If we don't turn the other cheek and show friendship, it could damage our alliance with the Xianzhou people. And that's undoubtedly what the Preceptors would hate to see. Therefore, I propose that the Luofu Vidyadhara should temporarily move away from the rule of the high elder and instead submit to rule by the council of Preceptors, to ensure [Missing]." While it does mention the alliance, that is not the core of the debate they are having. Fenghuan's response to her makes that extra clear: "but Xuepu's message rings loud and clear. She wants to take advantage of [Missing] being cut off to completely replace the High Elder position with the Preceptor Council." The agenda is obvious to everyone and is even clearly stated for our convenience. They did not need to "snipe" a xianzhou-vidyadhara partnership because they already had one. From Ichor: "In the Year 7379 of the Star Calendar, the Imbibitor Lunae Dan Feng caused turmoil that threatened the sacred wood. The Cloud Knights joined forces with the Vidyadhara Preceptors to assault him." I should mention that the Preceptors also seem to be divided into at least two political groups, probably more, and will not always be functioning as a singular body. 3. You said: "this is why they don't complain about dan feng's lengthy imprisonment (during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation) and molting rebirth, but they do complain about his exile- directing their anger at jing yuan. this proves that jing yuan orchestrated dan heng's exile by only consulting the ten lords, who approved his decision. since the high elders of the vidyadhara do not get what they wanted either, it is highly unlikely that they are to be credited for dan heng's exile." The Vidyadhara were angry about Jing Yuan releasing Dan Heng because this means they have officially lost their control of him and any possibility of getting his HE information etc. The one who sent that letter was Preceptor Shaoying who, according to Observational Monument on the Roots of the Arbor, is the one of the people who was collecting the samples from the Ambrosial Arbor. These are likely the same samples used by the Alchemy Commission (headed by Dan Shu's Predecessor at the time, but continued by Dan Shu) in their experimentations. The goal of these experimentations, as the Predecessor makes clearly when talking to Bailu and Dan Heng, is related to Bailu, who is the Bloomborn Scion, and they believe they are close to figuring out Vidyadhara reproduction stuff. Preceptor Shaoying is annoyed because losing Dan Heng sets them back on this agenda. This makes even Jing Yuan suspicious as he wonders, after their appeal, why are they so reluctant to let him go? Obviously, Jing Yuan surely freed Dan Heng from the prison to spare him from the abuse he suffered there, but I do wonder what he expected to happen when Dan Heng reached the end of his lifespan? He couldn't return to the sea to be reborn so it was more or less just another death sentence (clearly this is also why the 10 lords would have agreed to let him go, too). I also wonder why it took him centuries to do it - one would think he might be a bit hastier to help his friend, no? 4. You said: "Molting rebirth can hardly be called the definition of a reduced sentence." People die when they are killed. The options were death, which would have killed him permanently, or rebirth, which doesn't kill him permanently. 5. You said: "(during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation)" There's nothing to suggest that the other HEs participated in the interrogation of Dan Feng/Dan Heng. All we know about them is that Venti argued for him and Marum did not want to help him when her preceptor suggested punishing DF's preceptors. This seems to be your own fabrication and headcanon. "Hand over the transmutation arcanum and the preceptors will spare your life" - Ichor of Two Dragons. "Our solemn responsibility is to confiscate the Transmutation Arcanum and the Orb of Abysm from Dan Feng to uphold the continuation of the Ichor Lines." - Preceptor Taoran, Preceptor Assembly Chronicle Fragment. Perhaps you think it was the High Elders because DH:IL 4 says "He dreamed the elders coming and going to interrogate him about the truth of the Arcanum and the whereabouts of the dragon heart. He did not speak." The elders are not the High Elders. They use elder sometimes to refer to the preceptors, in fact Dan Heng does this himself in The Dragon Returns Home when addressing a mirage echo: "Elder, look around you. You've long since reincarnated. What remains here are just the mirages of the waters of the ancient sea." It happens often. 6. You said: "the abomination terminology being only specific to the denizens of abundance is also false." If you could name a single time the abomination terminology is used to refer to something that is not a denizen of abundance, I would love to be proven wrong. I didn't realise this would be something that people would find fault with, but go ahead... Even JY himself makes this clear when first addressing Luocha as "abomination of Yaoshi" in the cinematic. 7. You said: "it was baiheng who yingxing made the flask for, it was baiheng who blade referred to at the end of jingliu's companion mission lamenting why it was her who got buried, burnt to ash and forgotten." Yes the flask is (probably) for Baiheng. The flask is not special, though. Yes it was Baiheng who was being talked about in the JL companion mission. But, as explained clearly in the video, it was Jingliu's words because at the time of his "training" we are repeatedly told how Blade was empty-minded, not given a chance to respond before killed again, etc etc... so those words are still Jingliu's. The game even makes that extra clear by overlapping JL and Blade's voices at the start, just so the extra oblivious audience members can easily catch onto the fact that most of his sentiments have been carved into his every wound by Jingliu.
Part two... 8. You said: "but it is pretty obvious that blade loved baiheng and had no other motive for participating in her resurrection." It's 'pretty obvious' if you ship Dan Feng with Jing Yuan and you're looking for literally any reason to diminish the relationship between Dan Feng and Yingxing because it makes you uncomfortable that half of your ship was so clearly involved with another person. 9. You said: "the pronouns in the passers-by relic refer to three different people, the unnamed, the owner of the bracer, and the beloved." Yes. This is absolutely true. The unnamed = Blade. The owner of the bracer = Dan Feng. The beloved = Yingxing, who is considered dead and a separate person by Blade. Covered that in the video... starting to wonder if you actually watched it... 10. You said: "and that bit about him not recalling baiheng till he joined the stellaron hunters- we don't even know if he was pursuing dan heng until the stellaron hunters. we do know that his memory was fragmented by jingliu and that he was wandering like a corpse in exile till kafka and sam found him. blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone. we don't have any way to confirm that he remembered dan heng before he remembered baiheng and ruling out that she was the beloved." Actually, we do. All of the character stories and relic sets are presented in chronological order in HSR. Both Blade character stories and Passerby of Wandering Clouds consistently place the pursuit of Dan Heng as prior to joining the stellaron hunters. This is also how we know that he recalled Baiheng's death last. To be clear, the wikis for some reason put the relic sets out of order which can be confusing. The correct order is the order presented ingame in the relic backstory: Head > Hands > Body > Feet. He was pursuing Dan Heng and remembered beloved turned to monstrosity in the hands and he joined SH and remembered Baiheng's death in the body. Likewise, in the his story, he was pursuing Dan Heng in part 2 and he was found by the SH in part 3. 11. You said: "blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone." Umm... from PWC Feet "The slave promised to bring an eternal end and a final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated." 12. You said: "我會奉陪到底的 is much closer to dan heng meaning he's offering to follow through what blade wants- implying he is up for killing him. dan heng has understood why blade pursues him, why the pursuit is necessary for him, and why the goal of his pursuit is not dan heng's death. thus, he can avoid the danger he thinks he is in by ending the pursuit and giving blade what he wants." You are right that Dan Heng is offering to follow through with what Blade wants, which is the eternal end and final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated, but Idk how you managed to misunderstand the end of Clouds Leave No Trace so severely. Blade even courteously goes to the effort of telling you "this is the price the TWO OF US must pay." Then, he tells DH "Elio's script require you to stay alive, for now..." Even Blade's voiceline for Dan Heng reaffirms it: "Imbibitor Lunae... When will OUR retribution come? How can OUR debt be repaid?" This idea that Blade only wants to die alone and ~doesn't actually want to kill Dan Heng, too~ is a fanfiction. 13. You said: "he asks jing yuan immediately after to reaffirm if he still thinks he has a choice to turn things around, to live without having to kill his ex friend." This is so random and baseless? The order that you bid farewell to the characters is optional. I have it recorded, my order went JL then JY > YQ > Blade. I can't fathom how you think this was him going to JY last to seek consolation about having to kill Blade. JY even says "she's gone" to indicate to us that he's talking about Jingliu. 14. You said: "换盅 is between the parents of the bride and groom, not between the bride and groom themselves." So you admit its a reference to marriage? At least there's that... unfortunately for you, we're talking about an orphan and an infertile species that rebirths itself so... not sure what parents you are referring to?
Gosh I'm sorry you had to deal with that baseless essay after making such a detailed, well-research video. I completely understand liking other ships and/or disliking Renheng but trying to 'disprove' all this canon lore instead of just accepting it's simply not your preferred dynamic is insane. Most of the time you just end up making you and your ship look bad. Especially with Jingheng, like there is actually content in-game that supports it that doesn't necessarily clash with Renheng? Also I find it hilarious that 98% of people saying YX/Blade was romantically interested in Baiheng are Renheng antis. It's fine if you genuinely like the Baixing but using it as an argument against Renheng is wild when your pitting deleted content about a vague 'crush' against literally everything said in this video. It's giving off coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb energy.
@@Taff3ta_ fr I actually like Jingheng as a ship for fun it's just... the lore isn't really there for it. All the potentially cute things, like Jing Yuan letting him out of prison for example, get soured when I remember it took him centuries to do it and it also dooms DH to perma die eventually. Plus... Yes Jing Yuan treats him nicely which is sweet but that's not something unique to his interactions with DH and it is just who he is. And there's nothing from Dan Heng's side that could imply to me that he is interested in JY. I also find the idea of Blade loving Baiheng romantically to be absolutely hilarious because it conjures the image of the ultimate incel!Blade who went his entire life pining for a woman with no interest in him only to attempt to resurrect her using the power of the enemy after she dies in a heroic self sacrifice then proceed to get tortured by the other person who was obsessed with Baiheng. Gives Otto Apocalypse vibes and I just don't believe Hoyo will go that path again, esp not with all this focus on Renheng lore. Plus it doesn't make sense from a timeline pov, either, which I've explained already. But some people unironically want him to love her and its like... yall realise if that's true she never loved him back or else he wouldn't have had a problem giving her the flask like??? Lmfao only Blade antis could ship this. Yingxing does not deserve this slander.
@@LalodysLoreIf the bracer set is told from Blades PoV then why would be consider himself to be the beloved. Wouldn’t it be someone else like Dan feng.
@@vfsberry7491he doesn't call himself the beloved. He calls Yingxing the beloved. Blade doesn't think him and Yingxing are the same anymore. He sees Yingxing as a completely different person. This is supported by his last character story, "Now, ██ had died. His first - and only - death." And also by Jinglius companion quest, "You used the sword Yingxing crafted...and pierced, sliced, and impaled me time and time again...". Whenever he talks about Yingxing it's always in 3rd person. So it makes sense why he refers to "himself" as "the beloved".
I adore Dan Heng and honestly was worried when I first saw how shaken he was when he woke up from his nightmare of that meet-up between Blade and Jing Yuan... But after a while, I am starting to get the feeling these two have an even bigger story going on in their blurred past... I just got my Blade yesterday and left him in Dan Heng and Luna's (Nickname for Dan Heng in his Imbibitor Lunae form due to how ethereal he looks like a lone lotus under the moon and stars) care :3 I ship them (With also Jing Yuan but I accept it still because it's cute) I love the deep dive because I always try to look for any lore bits and I am always down for more Luna crumbs/lore! Keep up the good work!!!
Same he was best boy day 1 for me (I didn't hear about hsr until the day it was released and went in blind with friends). I also didn't really care for the lore and was concerned about Blade but then I happened to roll a single 10 roll and Blade dropped (same happened with JY, how did fate know I was a HCQ main). While playing he said some intriguing lines and I fell into the lore rabbit hole tryna work out what on Earth he was babbling on about xD I did, obviously, work out what he was babbling about. I also don't mind multishipping JY with renheng but tbh it does feel a little lopsided doing that. I think I like shipping JY with Luocha mainly BC they're both witty schemers and that premise is very appealing to me. JY is kinda shippable with anyone tho ngl. Your nickname for DH is so cute. And real. You probably know, but his title Imbibitor Lunae/Yinyuejun means Moon Drinker. The Xing in Yingxing means star which is why they're sometimes referred to as the moon and stars.
@@LalodysLore Ooh! I just like to ship Jing Yuan with Luna and Bladie because he's the Sun to their Moon and Star ~w~ Plus, he's the medium to make sure those two don't tear each other apart if Blade lost control with the Mara... But other than that, they do look cute together and balance each other. And I heard of Star Rail but was not really into it until my sister pulled me into it and the game was released on the day my family were in a hotel so we just streamed there after breakfast when the game finally launched XDD They did a raffle event for release day in Hoyolab and people can make a ticket for themselves. Since at the time I don't know anyone of the characters, I just coincidentally chose Dan Heng because he appeals to me more than anyone at the time while not knowing that in the future, I would adore him too much 0m0 I tried to get Jing Yuan.... He gave me E1 Himeko..... I skipped everyone for Luna so I have him at E1 S1 ~w~ My goal is for E6 Luna and E6 Dan Heng :3 Currently waiting for Jing Yuan to rerun since Bladie was kind enough to walk out the train and give me the 50/50 win
Ahh this video is exactly what we need! Thank you for all the hard work putting lore pieces in game together as well as explaining with cultural context and comparisons to other media. 😄
renheng is so phenomenal, thank you for spelling out the depth of their relationship. they are 2 deeply interesting characters only completed and made better by their dynamic together and the way that one relationship completely shapes the story. can’t wait to see how their relationship will be further developed tandem alongside Xianzhou’s ongoing narrative in the future
I'm glad to see this. I knew the bracer confirmed DF and YX relationship but you shared a lot that I missed! Of course the relationship between DF and YX is over, a tragedy but I hope we could see DH and Blade reconcile or just have a closure.
Thank you for putting this all together in one place!!! I did get the impression from lore bits that they were very deliberately coded as soulmates so it's nice to have it spelled out like this!!!
Welp you convinced me. Seriously though, I wish the High Cloud Quintet lore was presented in a clearer and more direct way. I wasn't the only one confused by the time we left the Luofu.
Amazing video. Have my like. I must share it with everyone the next time someone tries to argue with me about the relationships of Dan Heng and Blade, and Dan Feng with Yingxing.
thank you for all the effort you put into this video! it was very well made. i hope hsr gives us more luofu content in the future (hunt path trailblazer when??) and we get to see their story expanded upon more
Me watching this while I draw a XingYue comic lmao This is a really well-made video! Never realized how many lore bits there are for them. I really hope they get a happy ending.
18:05 huh...if those are Jingliu's words, then it seems like she actually had more reason to eant to revive Baiheng than Yingxing or Dan Feng... God, wouldnt that be a twist? None of them can remember the Sedition properly, imagine if Hoyo revealed that actually she was the one who caused the problems, possibly tampering with whag would otherwise have been a successful attempt to uproot the Arbour once and for all, and then they all wound up in states where the truth didnt matter to anyone around them in large part thanks to the Preceptors activelh framing Dan Feng, and then their memories all left them one way or another and now nobody knows the truth and even Jingliu is 100% certain that theyre worth blaming
Commenting for the algorithm and to appreciate the work you put into this video ! I've known you from Renheng discord, and it's heart-warming to see such a talented and dedicated lore theorist decided on making a channel. I especially like the part where you went a little bit deep about the red string and its East Asian cultural ties (pun intended) but are humble enough to acknowledge that you are not an expert on it. We in this community value growth and humility, and that moment showed me that you are a worthwhile lore channel to follow. Looking forward to more HSR lore videos, and maybe even Genshin lore videos hehe.
@@LalodysLore Knowing your personality and your hardworking nature, combined with Genshin's popularity, I'm sure the decision to start delving into Genshin lore will be a worthwhile choice. We need more pan-MHY lore/theory channels, and you are the perfect person for this IMO. Much love, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !
so, i have a history of hyperfixation on HOYO's very heavily implied gay couples and THE LAST PART OF THIS VIDEO MADE ME SO UNUBELIVEABLE HAPPY AND I KEPT SQUEALING AND SAHKING WITH JOY. So thank you for feeding my very well 🙏😭
27:13 a temporary death leading to him being remade bt the waters is honestly the most sensible interpretation of that unexplained event ive seen yet, especially since it needing to happen around the waters would explain why the Stellaron Hunters waited to meet him there, but by god i wish we had someone actually talk about it so that we had some language to interpret from, give us what termonology the actual characters use, please Hoyo 😅
from the moment I see red matching and the whole subtle connection, I already accepted that their married for life but due to some circumstance they grew apart. and yet many still say their just bros 🤨
I love how their relationship is portrayed- even though they are living different lives now and go by different identities, the relationship they had in the past didn't really "end" or they never had a "proper" break up and we're left with this angst of their relationship being obscured by their falling out and even more so with just how much time wore down Blade
Thank you for making this they are like a kind of tgcf brainrot to me but Im notoriously horrible at explaining things so I really appreciate this very well put together video
I don’t even play hsr or any games actually. I just discovered blade by mistake and became obsessed with his story which led me to dan heng and here i am. My god i will always be obsessed with lovers to enemies but i just can’t imagine a relatively “happy ending” to their story i still don’t know everything about their lore but one of the reasons why they fascinate me might be that they remind me of mdzs. i see yingxing as what will have happened if wei wuxian soul actually shattered and he got changed by the resentment (mara here) as both were proud arrogant yet extremely kind men that didn't want to leave any regrets in their life, making the story impossibly more tragic and dan feng cold personality that others misinterpret as heartless as lan wangi especially as he is so much of a simp that he gave away his heart to his beloved. Of course they are sooo different but you get what i mean
(I know I am late, but...) You really put a lot of effort to make this video! The details and evidence are easy to understand once you explain it, and together it just makes sense. Though I usually prefer danmeis like Hob/Tgcf in which the couple has no 'lover to enemy to lover (?)' trope, Renheng has seriously caught my curiosity! I am excited to see how Hoyo will develop them
Thank You for this video. There are many things that i didnt consider and thought about because i wasnt that invested in renheng, but now you awoken something in me. Im sad i didnt follow loufu story closely, since im stupid, but your video saved me and my need for learning about renheng lore, so i can have another thing to hyperfixate on
I knew half of this lore that Dan Feng and Yingxing commited crimes they were matching braces and the poem which I thought was surely about Dan Feng but the way u explained this in detail sorry can't help but ship them even more now I mean I don't like toxic relationships very often but Dan Heng and Blade just seem too much like soulmates I loved the video as I shipped them from the small details of them being together even ones but I didn't adimt it as I thought my ship to have no proof and as a lore loving person they had to have some lore together but as more things got relieved safe to say it didn't took long enough before I joined their shipping community btw I just realised that I have given no space in any sentences and pretty glad that I have subbed to u since is Kafka sick video of yours and if I typed too much about Dan Heng and Blade's ship and my apologies but I'm one of the people who share their opinions and interest with excitement even if people didn't ask to thanks for the video I'm a few days late as I was a bit busy Btw again Love ur channel ❤❤
Omg when I was making this video and putting all the points back to back I also started shipping these two even more than I did before like damn when everything is laid out it's really undeniable... and there's lots of smaller references I didn't mention, too. I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying my videos!!
i've seen this ship being wildly hated online and i never understood why. after watching this video, wow they're literally canon. for me that lightcone was enough to convince me to ship them (i was like yeah idk if they're fighting here or wanna kiss each other, turns out kinda both) anyway i loved the kavetham mention, it's my fav hoyo ship but looks like renheng might go up to number 2.
It's because on a very surface level it looks toxic and also because it's the most popular ship in the game so a lot of people feel threatened by it (other ship shippers, homophobes, etc) Edit to add: also you might enjoy my recent renheng cultural references video too hehe
Commenting for the algorithm!! This is honestly so well put together. Will be referring to this whenever people try to say Baiheng x Yingxing is the real canon lmao
Thanks for this video. It’s the most informative and well-structured one, I’ve seen on high cloud quintet and yingfeng/renheng. Thanks for your work! It’s a pity, there is no such in my native language, so I cannot send it to my friends, who don’t speak English (((((
These two are the strongest ship I've had in a while when I learned about the engagement party implication. Watching this is going to make it worse, thank you for your service.
dang, this video is very well made. All of my friend that playing HSR has been saying that The Xianzhou Loufu story line was so bad, and honestly I can't argue with that. And then the more I read some stuff in the game made me realized that the actual lore was actually great, but the presentation was very very bad. Hopefully the next story line is better in term of presentation. Can wait for your next video!
My gremlin brain gets confused by all the words i dont know in the luofu story but this video helped a lot. I love blade, and I agree that it feels like jingliu tortured/conditioned him to the point that he doesnt understand that what happened was wrong. I dont have a huge interest in dan heng x blade but its so obviously canon and honestly my love for blade means i might end up shipping the two super hard anyway. I just find dan heng to not be a very interesting character and i hope we will get more scenes of dan feng and yingxing in a time where there relationship was good/romantic (and ofc scenes of blade and dan heng wrestling through all these issues :D) Also i wanna see and understand more about blade and his dynamics with kafka, from what i understand they are essentially using him. Though he has 'agreed' idk if he has the mental state to really understand.
Thanks for the video😄. It explained a lot and I finally get why people keep shipping them. Now I really hope they both find happiness, either with each other or are able to move beyond their past into the future with those that care about them.
If you look at the myriad celestia five exodus dragon trailer just as we are closing in on dan Feng I noticed there was another high elder watching him he had white hair. HE was next to that diving tank thingie not sure what it's called
That guy is not a High Elder, that is Preceptor Taoran. He's also present in Ichor of Two Dragons cinematic at 3:00 on the bottom left of the image. He's probably the Preceptor that told DF what to do and then had the audacity to say the Preceptors would never scheme in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle. He's also probably the real culprit of the Sedition, but whatever lol. The diving tank guy is named Oppenheimer, he's a writer for the IPC. He's also one of the characters quoted on those daily character mission things.
On the list! Might bring it up if I do something about the alchemy commission bc it's related to their experiments and what we know of in-game biology. In the vid description is a link to a post about preceptors by my friend which also gives a lot of interesting info about it :) Just saying, if eating the fruit of the arbor can't give you perfect, deathless immortality, how on earth could a random emanator do that? They'd be literally unstoppable. Imagine an army of Blade...
Although I personally don’t ship them since I find them a bit toxic, I saw the whole thing and honestly love how much dedication Hoyoverse put into them and their lore. I enjoy their current dynamic a lot and hoping to see more interaction ! And, although I said I don’t ship renheng, I do quite like the idea of their ‘past self’ together. The video is great in detail and I love how you made sure to adress everything. Thanks for your dedication and hard work 💕🫶🏻
gonna be so real b4 i played this game i was convinced dan feng was blades real name and they brothers and i learned this from shushangxgui fanfiction on ao3 and argued with anyone who shipped them
I'm actually a little confused with the wanderer's passeby set tbh. The 'unnamed' is Blade but also refers to Yingxing when Blade recalls his memories as him? Particularly in the bracer lore with all the things Yingxing did alongside Dan Feng. So why would the 'beloved' also be referring to Yingxing if 'unnamed' was used for both of them just before? I completely understand Blade referring to Yingxing in third person but it feels weird to suddenly switch like that in the same sentence. Is it suppose to symbolise the act that turned Yingxing into Blade? I've personally been teetering between Yingxing beloved (romantic to DF) and Baiheng beloved (platonic to HCQ or romantic to JL) and this has part has always bugged me.
Personally, I attribute it to Blade just being weird about his identity. He knows he is Yingxing but doesn't use his name to refer to himself. He refers to Yingxing in 3rd person during his story 4 and in the JL quest cutscene but does also refer to them both as 'the unnamed' in some of the thoughts. He also refers to Baiheng as the Bosom Friend so, if the beloved was referring to her, he would also be calling her two different names in the same relic set. IMO it's a detail that doesn't matter that much. What matters is that Blade only refers to his inner demon as a monster/monstrosity, using the same CN as beloved turned to monstrosity. And of course, as I said in the video, he didn't recall she died until well after he remembered the beloved was single-handedly buried so it wouldn't make sense for it be Baiheng chronologically.
From what I can gather, the relationships are something like this: Dan Feng and Yingxing were really close to each other. Dan Feng had mutual respect with Jingliu but not necessarily close friendship (they had a duel that lasted a few years until one of them won so I imagine they enjoyed sparring each other). JL says they were best friends in EN but in CN its actually life-and-death friends (which they all were to each other as members of the HCQ). JL did not like YX's attitude but respected him as a brilliant craftsman. Yingxing and Baiheng were close friends (YX calls her bosom friend, assuming the Jade flask was still about her). Jingliu and Baiheng were really close, they would fly around together in her starskiff stargazing and drinking wine that BH brought from her travels. DF and BH seemed friendly enough for DF to run errands for her and for her to tease him. JY seems to consider them all to be friends but says he was never close to JL. Seems like although JL was the leader of the group, it was Baiheng who actually befriended them all and JL was distant to everyone except her. DF and YX had their little bracer romance corner. JY was the youngest one. Also seemed like JY and YX would argue in a banter way.
hello, u said in the video at 7:18 that yingxing "was still young with black hair before he became a grey old man". I was never able to found anywhere that he had black hair when he was young instead of white, was it confirmed somewhere? It was always something i was curious about but i never saw any confirmation. U even said u know this cuz u could see him with the bracers when he was young, could u tell me where it was shown?
It's on the screen at the time. Compare his hair (left) to Jingliu's hair (right) and you can see how dark it is in comparison. You can compare how close Yingxing's white hair with Jingliu's while in sepia filtering the next image and the image at 18:01.
@@LalodysLore OMG i was confused when u replied cuz i still couldnt see it, and then i squinted very hard and its THERE lmaooo its so hard to miss, but ur right he does legit has black hair, i can finally have this question rest now. Thank you sm!!!

It must also be taken into account that Jingliu had spoken to the preceptors, so they must have blatantly lied to her, taking advantage of how mentally unstable she must have been due to Baiheng's death
Lied to her about what?
Plus most of the lore is scattered across various readables which makes it hard to understand what is happening.
well tbf the luofu story line was pretty bad written, just full of dialogue exposition and only reactive characters
@@rinaloveskiwis the actual lore was good but the presentation was very yikes and it spent most of it's time gaslighting you. First Kafka then Tingyun then Bailu's maids/preceptors and Jingliu. I really like how the Stellaron Hunters are all rivals or counterparts to various degrees to the Express crew. It gives an 'its personal' angle that the Fatui Harbingers lack, for the most part.

You should check it out and let us know what you think!
im so glad i have finally discovered the renheng bible
However, a voice inexplicably rings in your ears."
He just remembered her, but she not elicits any feelings for him, unlike the Yingxing part, which it wasn't even given options to choose.
When meeting Jingliu.
"Do I... know you?
Dan Heng: Do we... know each other?
Jingliu: Hmm... the answer to that is both yes and no. However, your cold and indifferent tone is identical to the person I knew back then."
She didn't accuse him of lying.

@@Taff3ta_ CCP LAW ENTERS
the marriage typo is so real;;;; really don't understand the ppl who say its been "debunked" or what not just cause "ACKSUALLY it mainly refers to the parents marrying their children off" well ok it's still heavily associated with marriage/engagement regardless and theres a much easier way to convey a friendship rather than making that elaborate typo.. and don't think parents are really relevant when one's an orphan and another cannot reproduce lol. plus they got a whole bunch of tickets and inquries abt it but their response was how they can't elaborate further like it was 100% intentional;; keep in mind that other stuff got retranslated but the typo is still there
1000% they've acknowledged it and haven't changed it so if it was really a typo it wouldn't still be in the game. People forget Hoyo is legally required to make things just ambiguous enough for gay couples to pass censorship. I've said it before but there's a reason Hoyo went from almost exclusively canon gay ships to suddenly 'no ships are canon' philosophy once the censorship laws got heavier 😂 Government said "straights or nothing" and they picked nothing.
for sure and also i noticed the renheng wiki page is kinda out of date but i would love to see all the stuff from this video on there if u have the time😊
"Engagement" doesn't necessarily mean it has to be romantic. "Engaging", or to meet.
They weren't married to begin with
@@Aero706-e8f okay, that honestly doesn't matter because that isn't how the term "engagement" is generally used anymore.
I like shipping too as long as people don't get toxic about it, I mainly like gay and lesbian ships but I also like straight ships too, like, my favorite ship in Star Rail is March x Trailblazer (mainly Stelle in my case) x Firefly
renheng bible just dropped thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This video is my life and blood bless your soul for making this its well made well researched and great to send to people
I just hate the guy who messed up the lore simply for funsies, we could've had a much better luofu story if it wasnt for that guy, sheesh.

@shwunari um, so basically there was this guy who was homophobic and other things, he wanted his waifu (baiheng) to be in this quest so he messed up the lore and made it all about Bai heng...that's all I know.

Excellent stuff, keep up the great work
Something I’ll always go insane for is how dhil has a red streak of hair (I think) at the same place where df wore his earring… maybe there’s a cultural explanation but I still can’t help but think it’s supposed to represent that same earring
I just love the idea that the earring, a sign of df’s love and connection to yx, was carried over to his new life in a more permanent form..!!!
Also would mean rh still technically have those matching earrings lol
Even as a big renheng fan i didnt know a lot of the details mentioned in this video. Thank you so much for putting so much work and effort into compiling all their lore. Im super excited to see more lore videos from you
i love renheng so much, thank you for doing this!!!
46 minute long renheng video ?? we're eating good ^^ ty youtube for recommending this, and saving so i can watch it later.
1. You said: "the idea that caelorum venti wanted to free dan heng and the ten lords commission wanted to kill him is the most glaring inaccuracy in this video. in an appeal from the vidyadhara, in the screenshot shared itself, it is written that the alliance and caelorum venti together made the deal of punishing dan heng through molting rebirth."
I guess if you squint your head and tilt it sideways you can read that passage as the 10 lords being so benevolent and Venti is the murderous one, but your interpretation makes no sense from a contextual standpoint.
2. You said: "the preceptors had their own power struggle after the sedition, his own teacher manipulated dan feng to even have had the research or protocol for th resurrection. the preceptors and the vidyadhara were divided in groups of whether they wanted the high elder system (and their alliance with the xianzhou natives, whom some of them think to not benefit their race) or whether they wanted their own autonomous rule, and dan feng's unreliability gave them the perfect opportunity to snipe the xianzhou-vidyadhara partnership. these are implied, not outright stated, but refer to the internal strife among the vidyadhara and their reaction to the general freeing him, it is evident that the ten lords were satisfied with dan heng's exile."
You are correct that the preceptors did have their own power struggles, as demonstrated in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle.
3. You said: "this is why they don't complain about dan feng's lengthy imprisonment (during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation) and molting rebirth, but they do complain about his exile- directing their anger at jing yuan. this proves that jing yuan orchestrated dan heng's exile by only consulting the ten lords, who approved his decision. since the high elders of the vidyadhara do not get what they wanted either, it is highly unlikely that they are to be credited for dan heng's exile."
The Vidyadhara were angry about Jing Yuan releasing Dan Heng because this means they have officially lost their control of him and any possibility of getting his HE information etc.
4. You said: "Molting rebirth can hardly be called the definition of a reduced sentence."
People die when they are killed. The options were death, which would have killed him permanently, or rebirth, which doesn't kill him permanently.
5. You said: "(during which the high elders including caelorum venti carried out the interrogation)"
There's nothing to suggest that the other HEs participated in the interrogation of Dan Feng/Dan Heng.
6. You said: "the abomination terminology being only specific to the denizens of abundance is also false."
If you could name a single time the abomination terminology is used to refer to something that is not a denizen of abundance, I would love to be proven wrong. I didn't realise this would be something that people would find fault with, but go ahead... Even JY himself makes this clear when first addressing Luocha as "abomination of Yaoshi" in the cinematic.
7. You said: "it was baiheng who yingxing made the flask for, it was baiheng who blade referred to at the end of jingliu's companion mission lamenting why it was her who got buried, burnt to ash and forgotten."
Yes the flask is (probably) for Baiheng.
Part two...
8. You said: "but it is pretty obvious that blade loved baiheng and had no other motive for participating in her resurrection."
It's 'pretty obvious' if you ship Dan Feng with Jing Yuan and you're looking for literally any reason to diminish the relationship between Dan Feng and Yingxing because it makes you uncomfortable that half of your ship was so clearly involved with another person.
9. You said: "the pronouns in the passers-by relic refer to three different people, the unnamed, the owner of the bracer, and the beloved."
Yes. This is absolutely true. The unnamed = Blade. The owner of the bracer = Dan Feng. The beloved = Yingxing, who is considered dead and a separate person by Blade. Covered that in the video... starting to wonder if you actually watched it...
10. You said: "and that bit about him not recalling baiheng till he joined the stellaron hunters- we don't even know if he was pursuing dan heng until the stellaron hunters. we do know that his memory was fragmented by jingliu and that he was wandering like a corpse in exile till kafka and sam found him. blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone. we don't have any way to confirm that he remembered dan heng before he remembered baiheng and ruling out that she was the beloved."
Actually, we do.
11. You said: "blade did not exchange the promise of dan heng's death with elio, he exchanged the promise of his own death, alone."
Umm... from PWC Feet "The slave promised to bring an eternal end and a final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated."
12. You said: "我會奉陪到底的 is much closer to dan heng meaning he's offering to follow through what blade wants- implying he is up for killing him. dan heng has understood why blade pursues him, why the pursuit is necessary for him, and why the goal of his pursuit is not dan heng's death. thus, he can avoid the danger he thinks he is in by ending the pursuit and giving blade what he wants."
You are right that Dan Heng is offering to follow through with what Blade wants, which is the eternal end and final funeral to the unnamed's life and to everything he had ever hated, but Idk how you managed to misunderstand the end of Clouds Leave No Trace so severely.
13. You said: "he asks jing yuan immediately after to reaffirm if he still thinks he has a choice to turn things around, to live without having to kill his ex friend."
This is so random and baseless? The order that you bid farewell to the characters is optional. I have it recorded, my order went JL then JY > YQ > Blade. I can't fathom how you think this was him going to JY last to seek consolation about having to kill Blade. JY even says "she's gone" to indicate to us that he's talking about Jingliu.
14. You said: "换盅 is between the parents of the bride and groom, not between the bride and groom themselves."
So you admit its a reference to marriage?
His first - and only - death." And also by Jinglius companion quest, "You used the sword Yingxing
crafted...and pierced, sliced, and impaled
me time and time again...".

Me watching this while I draw a XingYue comic lmao
This is a really well-made video!
This is good!!! keep up the masterpiece up!
It's gut wrenching.
OH MY GOD THIS REALLY IS THE RENHENG BIBLE
love it
the hand braces and the “2 hours” thing is literally insaneeee 😭🙏😭🙏
I am excited to see how Hoyo will develop them
The more I learn about this messed up friend group the more I learn to respect Jingyuans easy going personality.

That was beautiful. Thanks for the video! ^^
i've seen this ship being wildly hated online and i never understood why. after watching this video, wow they're literally canon. for me that lightcone was enough to convince me to ship them (i was like yeah idk if they're fighting here or wanna kiss each other, turns out kinda both) anyway i loved the kavetham mention, it's my fav hoyo ship but looks like renheng might go up to number 2.
It's because on a very surface level it looks toxic and also because it's the most popular ship in the game so a lot of people feel threatened by it (other ship shippers, homophobes, etc)
Edit to add: also you might enjoy my recent renheng cultural references video too hehe
Commenting for the algorithm!! This is honestly so well put together. Will be referring to this whenever people try to say Baiheng x Yingxing is the real canon lmao
This is amazing!!!!
Please keep making content ❤
This is so incredibly impressive
As I Blade Main, I feel like I finally understand what he has been through, I love his character even more now.
I can't describe how much I'm grateful for this video!
Thank you so much for making this, first it's very helpful, second it's amazingly well made!
Ah yes, just what I needed after finishing the Xianzhou quest :D
dang, this video is very well made.
Commenting for the algorithm. I'm officially a Dan x Blade stan
Same. Wasn't convinced until this video slammed into me like a truck. Now I'm losing it over the bracers
Just found ur channel love it
My gremlin brain gets confused by all the words i dont know in the luofu story but this video helped a lot. I love blade, and I agree that it feels like jingliu tortured/conditioned him to the point that he doesnt understand that what happened was wrong. I dont have a huge interest in dan heng x blade but its so obviously canon and honestly my love for blade means i might end up shipping the two super hard anyway. I just find dan heng to not be a very interesting character and i hope we will get more scenes of dan feng and yingxing in a time where there relationship was good/romantic (and ofc scenes of blade and dan heng wrestling through all these issues :D)
Also i wanna see and understand more about blade and his dynamics with kafka, from what i understand they are essentially using him. Though he has 'agreed' idk if he has the mental state to really understand.
Thank you!!
Good job, bro 🎉. I vote for JL CQ video. :))))))
just gonna drop a link to this video every time some homophobe is trying to deny the obvious, thank you for your service
46 MINUTES??? THE DEDICATION
THANK YOU FOR THIS
They're so gay its crazy
Now i need to understand Dan Heng's lore(my brain hurts)
Thanks for the video😄. It explained a lot and I finally get why people keep shipping them. Now I really hope they both find happiness, either with each other or are able to move beyond their past into the future with those that care about them.
😮 I found a new ship.
Hii, I swear to god I keep coming back to this video and rewatching it. One question. Where can I watch the Dan heng ad, the blushy one. Thanks!!
shoutout to toxic Yaoi for carrying my will to live
Oh thanks for that 😂
Blade and Dan Heng were so totally meant to be husband and wife 😏
Thank you so much ❤ it was amazing. Could you please make a video about dragon heart? I really need to know more about it
On the list!
Thanks for your dedication and hard work 💕🫶🏻
gonna be so real b4 i played this game i was convinced dan feng was blades real name and they brothers and i learned this from shushangxgui fanfiction on ao3 and argued with anyone who shipped them
Average renheng anti 🤣🤣
the lore is so amazing and it just makes it more sad how horribly it was all presented. i just wish they didn’t fumble the xianzhou storyline so badly
I'm so sad about what Jingliu (whatever was her name) did to Blade.....
As much i don't like yaoi ships i want hyv to confirm that ship only to piss off the homophobic dudebros
So basically, it's all jing liu's fault
Do i play honkai? No
Am i gonna watch this whole video? Yes.
I just love dragons.
Lion? Like the one in Jing Yuan's character art? It could be the same one, an old keepsake from a dear friend.
I really thought that all the members of the high cloud quintet were a lot closer to ecth other
Sadly even jingyuan says he wasn't that close to his master, jingliu. The hcq dynamic is very unusual tbh
@@LalodysLore oh ok
reminds me of avengers situation haha
fans see them as close found family of misfits but in canon uhh
hello, u said in the video at 7:18 that yingxing "was still young with black hair before he became a grey old man".
