Pre vid: the beauty is the recognition of existence. I’m taking a stance on the Aeons in pairs. Cause equilibrium. If it wasn’t then equilibrium fails. After vid: it remains the same but now I think the beauty is a piece of every path. The propagation, harmony, Nihility, equilibrium. This theory kinda encompasses them to have some aspect of beauty. Beauty is a broad term and I’m still sticking with the idea that it’s the recognition of an existence but maybe now it’s not only that but also the change that an existence brings (can be good or bad but change nonetheless).

I've definitely seen the name Idalia in fiction before. Never knew it was some reference to Aphrodite. If the mirror holders say that she was shattered though, I doubt we'll find a buried body, but if any sakura trees show up in the near future, I'll start frothing at the mouth. For people turning into bugs, I've wholly convinced myself that it's a reference to the Iron Cavalry. That whole thing where the Republic of Glamoth viewed the modified humans as a threat as dangerous as the swarm, and all that jazz. And I cannot be convinced otherwise. As for Argenti talking to bugs, I chalk it up to him being Argenti. The same guy that saved Aventurine from Acheron's Nihility mind palace. He can just do that, I guess. Making Argenti the Magician though, makes me wonder if Robin can be considered a High Priestess. And if we'll see the rest of the tarot. Glamoth has an Empress, and apart from the Ruberts, Tayzzyronth the "Imperator" could also be considered an Emperor. And it looks like the story is building up to THEIR appearance. (or a wet fart like the annihilation gang)

A very interesting take on Ths Beauty. I too have contemplated this many times, well I had a head start because I firmly believed in a personal philosophy which involved "Beauty in our actions" before the game even came out. Your analysis was highly historical, something which I couldn't find myself doing as it would spend a lot of time. I applaud you. But to add my input and experience, I take a more philosophical stance towards the idea of the Beauty in HSR. Some of which I can see complement your history based research very nicely which makes me rather happy. Due to the subjective nature of beauty, it's possible for it to be all-encompassing and it can even interact with many different paths, though some require a bit more thought(Pay attention to the number at the end of some sentences). One such phrase I always think about is the phrase "Ephemeral Beauty". I believe that the definition of beauty, on top of itself, is also that it's inherently a fleeting concept. You can't tell me that a person just randomly thought that the words "Ephemeral" and "Beauty" suddenly go hand in hand. It's because there's a natural reason for that, it's a concept that has been thought of many times by many different cultures around the world. The likes of Greek Philosophers like Plato and Epicurus held beliefs on its transient nature. Plato viewed true beauty as an unchanging and perfect state of reality, however what we experience is merely a passing scent of it, a reflection of something timeless that we can never grasp in a changing world. (0.5) Then we have Buddhism that teaches that everything is subject to "Anicca" or Impermanence(1). Where beauty lies within the moment, and to cling onto it will bring pain as it opposes the fundamental rules of reality. Then we have "Mono no Aware" which is part of Japanese culture, you get the idea. Argenti is a character who follows the standard "Holier than thou" Knight in shining armour trope. He is a confident symbol of hope, a man who has triumphed over countless trials, and when needed a beacon of hope for people(2). His journey as a traveller as well represents the very brevity of his own path, a passing ray of light that dispells all darkness, but never to stay in one place. (2.5) To acknowledge the beauty is to acknowledge that it's fleeting. And I'm sure the Knights of Beauty know this well. I read a comment where someone believes that The Beauty is the anti-thesis of Nihility, but it feels like they're actually both sides of the same coin. By believing in the eventual end and farewell of beautiful moments you are lightly treading the Nihility. And not only that, acknowledgement of it's eventual passing would imply that we are also ready to get sent into the darkness once more, to fight our battles in life until we can temporarily find solace once more in another beautiful moment, and then be sent back into the hell that some may consider is life(3). Even the universe may echo this very idea, In a closed room it's easier to create darkness because to create light we must expend energy to light up a light bulb, and on a much larger scale all stars will eventually burn out leaving everything in darkness. It is inherently tiring and difficult to shine, to radiate positivity. Doesn't Argenti do the same? Isn't that what every Knight of Beauty face? Trials and hardships, then happiness and sentiments. Over and over again, when will their journey end?(4) Back to the talk about being two sides, Beauty is quite literally the philosophy of Existentialism where we create meaning, and an "existence" in an indifferent and harsh universe, the fact that we have to create personal meaning reflects back to Beauty being subjective to everyone's own accord. But wait, we have another contender here, put on your party hats because The Elation has arrived. Three philosophies which are often intertwined with each other are Nihilism, Existentialism, and Absurdism. The first two we've talked of, but the last is where The Elation fits well. So now you can say it's a 3 sided uh coin?(5) I'm surprised you haven't pointed out or had a topic about how Hi3 already has underlying themes of Beauty. Probably because you went for a more historical approach huh? But yeah we have the people like Welt who "wants to protect all that is beautiful", then Kiana continues to carry that flag, even the song "Moon halo" speaks of "May all beauty be blessed", and I guess "Da Capo" talks about longing and transience of cherished moments. I have a feeling I may have waffled off or I could've been more concise. But the general point I'd like to add is how important it is to understand that Beauty is inherently a fleeting concept, yet a powerful one that can create hope against harsh disadvantages. I've always wondered why I end up looking back with rose tinted glasses, even though it probably wasn't so rosy. That's probably because my memories captured a moment in time thus a moment of true beauty as well as it exaggerated the good details. Thank you for reading i will now subscribe. (0.5): It's tempting to say that the enemy of Beauty might be the Remembrance (preposterous coming from a March 7th fan like me, she literally calls herself beautiful <3). But I think they complement one another, even Fuli has a soft spot for beautiful moments it just sounds like they're a fan of The Beauty, similar to my anecdote about reminiscence. Or maybe I'm a bit biased here because I'm writing a small fanfic of two separated lovers, one who follows The Beauty and the other who is a memokeeper... (1) Then maybe Permanence and the Abundance are the enemy of beauty? I'm not sure I don't think I'm well versed to comment here. (2) Such a trait befitting of the Harmony(and Order I guess...) Even in the path of Trailblaze nothing lasts and you gotta keep moving and facing struggles to reach your next "Beautiful destination". Im attempting to write a fic about the entire high cloud quintet time that's as close to canon as possible and these videos are genuinely saving my life- So much Xianzhou lore is- incredibly obscure and cryptic. Its hard to keep track of everything so having someone else lay it out so easy to understand and follow is nice ;-; Ive been doing nothing but research for the past month just to understand what even happened in what order and when- my poor girlfriend has had to listen to my mad rambling for days on end and i still feel like I'm missing details at times- drives me insane-

First guess: The Beauty is an Aeon representing the splendor of Order, Fairness, and Perfection. To follow the Beauty means to believe in more than aesthetic quality, but a deeper, more sublime truth that in this world, there are some higher truths to embody.

After watching the video, I clicked on another video to watch and got hit with a Dr. Ratio ad, what a coincidence. While watching his trailer I noticed a lot of lines that could be connected to the Veritas the Truth theory, such as; "Knowledge is as vast as the universe itself" this is interesting because of the Truth in Abyss, Dr. Ratio "conqured" knowledge which, in this quote, is claimed to be as vast as the universe or, by association, as vast as an abyss; "You learn to know yourself before your enemy" this is a quote from Dr. Ratio and relates to the "Your mind is all you can truly know", you have to know that you think before you can turn your attention outwards toward possible enemies; "Copying others rarely leads to improved results" another Dr. Ratio quote that can be seen as a reference to Dolus trying to duplicate Veritas and failing

Before watching: the beauty is everything, also self-reflective. With an open heart you can find beauty in everything, even a plant. But with hatred in your heart, you can not like some things. So i guess beauty is... love? Peace with yourself and the world? If i would know more about buddism i could make paralels. After the video: oh damn i love it when hoyo takes things from irl myths and legends. I also should look more into solomon, a lot of the texts shown on screen mentioned him (If i remember correctly i heard that the free masons have some big connection with that guy, need to look into that too) and he is also important in some non-bible-original (noncanon?) stories featuring the magical creatures of the ars goethia, which names are often used in games from old dragonquest to new hoyoverse.

i saw something on twitter about idrila having connections to terminus after being called in their myriad celestia trailer "end of all things/infant in the mirror", could idrila be the "Origin" to terminus' "finality"? we know in hi3rd that elysia was the first to fight for humanity after seeing the beauty in them hence "fight for for all the beauty in the world" came from her, would it be a stretch to say idrila was born as "origin" from the path of finality and wanted to oppose or at least give more of a merciful meaning to the certainty of terminus?

Will watch the video later, but wanted to ask if the theory of Idrilla being a part of Xipe was mentioned here, or maybe even disproven

I'm still in the first 10 minutes of the video so idk if you mention this but, could The Beauty's mirror fragments the character's eidelons? Usually the art and the name of those is something tied to the character's story, with the last one showing them nude, which could represent their true self After watching: holy shit

5:07 i always find the eng localizers are too verbose and changed too much. to the point that characterization are gone, if weren't helped by VAs... im lucky i understand spoken japanese to a point, and i can say they deliver the point better...

The whole Argenti talking to insects thing you mentioned reminded me that he literally was able to cut open a giant bug that swallowed the astral express (which is not small by any means)!! Not to mention that he was the one that saved Aventurine when he was in THE nihility, and no one besides Acheron (an emanator) has free access to it.. I think that he is an emanator of beauty, or is at least heavily blessed by Idrila.

These two are the strongest ship I've had in a while when I learned about the engagement party implication. Watching this is going to make it worse, thank you for your service.

Truly awesome vid!! 🌹This makes me question Kafka's existence within the story even more as she is referred in her description as a "Dashing, collected, and a professional beauty." She also has insane bug references throughout her kit & trailer and on top of that she is working for Elio (a supposed emanator of Finality). There is some connection through these three for sure, awesome work! ( also she throws rose petals in her trailer 😭)

I haven’t seen the video yet. My thoughts on the beauty as a casual lore player are as follows: I’m fairly sure argenti has had a friend who was a knight but he was corrupted. Beauty seems to have some parallels with hunt to me as they are both righteous and noble and have similar goals for the universe but where they differ is beauty is for beauty’s sake and hunt has an element of vengeance/retribution. What I am certain of is that the beauty has little to do with acc physical aesthetics but might have some roots in the aestheticism movement. I don’t think abt the path of beauty a lot so that’s it. I LOOK FORWARD TO BE PROVEN WRONG AND QUESTION EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME :DD

That was a fun watch! Thank you for not only sharing your analysis with us, but to have taken such lengths and effort into researching it as well. That said, by the end of, I was left hoping that our gallant, handsome Argenti won’t be condemned to the same fate of becoming a monster like many of his fellow knights… It’s sad to imagine how many familiar faces, people he once called friends and comrades being reduced to such a state. One can only hope that Argenti would be spared from that.

Razalina came from a world enlightened by the Remembrance right? How do you think that would have affected the people there? Would the world have similar memoria concentrations like Penacony or be able to do things that Memokeepers can do without needing to give up their bodies? Fuli is my favorite Aeon.

It doesn't make sense when you consider the ending of hi3. And yes, the games are linked whether people believe it or not. What about the fact that only Kiana has successfully embraced finality? And even senadina failed? This is all a mess. This retcons the entire ending and part 2 of hi3. No aeon has reached earth. Yet, Kiana is an emanator level herrscher of finality.

If I'm recalling correctly, the pacifist faction of Borisin - the Claretwheel Temple - is too young to be Hanunue's origin story (unless a LOT of wacky time dilation/FTL travel/black hole physics? are involved). Their existence DOES makes the "Borisin Hanunue" theory less cracky, if still unlikely when other human-canid subspecies DO exist. It would be pretty interesting if Hanu WAS a Borisin, one who refused to participate in their atrocities & turned "traitor". The conclusion to the War Dance arc ended up resolving some of the tension leftover from Topaz's attempted take-over of Belebog so it's definitely possible that a special connection between the Xianzhou & Penacony will be made too (eventually). I'm keen to see how the different "moondrinkers" will end up connected - Dan Feng's time in the Shackling Prison DOES have some overlap with Hoolay's, though it's unlikely they'd have ever met. There are a LOT of surface-level similarities between Hoolay and Blade. It wouldn't surprise me if Borisin (or their biology) were involved with the Sedition. Did Dan Feng attempt to give his dragon &/or Yingxing "Moon Rage", to REALLY get that Immortal Tree cut down? Would HoYo REALLY miss an easy opportunity to make a cheesy werewolf reference amidst their existent moon people (Dan Feng & Yingxing) and moon rabbit ones (Lingsha)? Then there's the way that the Claretwheel Temple questline tied Gold & Gears back into the "present". With Sampo, Svarog & a cure to the Anti-Organic Equation already positioned for Belebog... all we need is to get Dr Ratio & Screwllum there to REALLY kick things off. Clara, Luka & the Claretwheel Temple all seem like organics well-suited to work with Screwllum in order to represent how to resolve the samsara of [Gold&Gears] for good. Maybe Ratio will even get an Aeonhood out of it (whether he wants it or not)!

Before: It seems like a faith that embraces the duality of life. Pleasure in everything. I think if i had to be a path it would be another support path but I'm not sure how it would differ from Harmony too much.

While the idea of non-Xianzhou natives being "long-lived" may SEEM unusual, it should be noted that there are several methods to (theoretically) cheat death and old age via Faster Than Light travel. Different planets experience time differently, depending on the star/s they orbit (solar year) and the speed of their own rotations (day & night). This is a concept that is addressed by NPCs at Herta Station (that one dude who was writing love letters to someone stationed very remotely). Without teleportation or Faster Than Light technology, travel between different timezones can THEORETICALLY enable a person to become immortal (or, at least, eternally youthful and very old). This may explain the unusually long lifespans of persons belonging to "frequent flyer" factions such as the Astral Express, Galaxy Rangers, Stellaron Hunters & the IPC. I would also expect, from such an interconnected and capitalist universe setting, that the average "mortal" lifespan would be longer than typical. With these concepts in mind, it's not TOO surprising that someone like Dr Truth/Ratio could be old enough to star in Gold & Gears.

Before: well, Beauty is a concept SO complex philosophy even has its own field of study for it - Aesthetics. Many philosophers since Ancient Greece have debated on the meaning, shapes and matter of Beauty for humanity. So the idea that the being that's supposed to embody Beauty is MISSING has awed me since the beginning of HSR. Unfortunately I only did a semester on Philosophy, so I'm working on shallow waters here. But I believe the Mirror Holders might be closer to the truth. It just makes sense. Everyone has a different concept of what's beauty, it was so diluted that it makes sense if she was scattered/broken in many pieces. Honestly, she might even have shattered herself to allow this. If an Aeon believes there's Beauty in everything why would she be just one thing? Why would she have just a single shape and form and image? In a more practical sense, though, there are many symbolic similarities between The Beauty, Black Swan, The Garden of Recollection and Rosalina/The Mirror Princess. They all share the same symbols of roses, mirrors and candles. Ok, maybe not Roses for the Garden of Recollection (so far, but I mean, it IS a garden...)... So there could be something there, idk... I babbled enough, I want to watch the video so much I can't even think straight no more lol
