My son is an electrical engineer working on the Z06 and he's so tight-lipped about it that he should be kept in a secured facility. I got a couple tidbits from him, and you guys aren't far off on the HP guesses.
I would be guessing a high revving NA engine. Maybe in the 640-660hp range at 8000-8200 rpms. I think that is very dooable with still meeting emissions
The Z06 will be a close legal production of the C8R. The side intakes on most renders are all stingray ones. As that rear fender gets widened out it changes the angle of the inlet slightly just like we see on the C8R. The part on the door is the same. Makes the most sense. Also I am hoping for a 4.4 liter fpc dohc V8 with twin turbos. These new spy shots have 345 width rear tires. Those are not needed on a midengine car with 600 hp or less. 750 hp???
Oh and those older spy shots are not a hybrid. GM came out and said that was to charge the battery to test things on the cars with the engines off. I commented on this in the ZO6 thread going in the Corvette forum and quoted the guy that said it.
Those look pretty dang wide, 335 or 345 at least on the rear. Maybe 275-285 on the front. The car already handles well, grips better, and brakes even better. Can't imagine adding a wider stance, more power, awd, hybrid with instant torque is going to do, but it will be exciting 😁
That Blue Vette is awesome. Love it with out the black on the rear intake. Solid color is great on this car. Don't care for the gold rims, but those same rims polished would be cool. Can't wait to see my first one. Any luck and next month.
I believe the rear tire are 335. I can’t imagine it being more since it is a mid engine that is well balanced. The Z06 will be awesome and would put an end to the GT500 2020 and C8 rivalry.
Matt M Completely true. The C8 did whip the gt500 for 65% of the track race.... then the gt500 Barely caught up and won by a fraction of a second. The fanboys would view it as an amazing victory.... but it seems like it was dumb luck. on a road course with more turns it would make light work of the gt500. But yes, it was winning at the end. If they did the same race track, but set the number of laps to just one lap- the vette would have won. So literally, it’s a drivers race for stock to stock. Once you mod the c8, it will shine as the clear victor
Richard Race you are right the rivalry will never end because it breeds competition. Competition brings about the best in the manufacturer. I can’t wait until the Z06 hit the streets.
👏👏👏, the C8 is already good for me, iam an African American living in the Netherlands, I am going to import my C8 corvette convertible in March it will be a 1lt package no Z51 package I don't need it for the color yellow with black interior and yellow calipers and yellow seat belts are my final choice, I hope to drive it in the fall
1000 horsepower? That's just stupidity. The stock C8 can do 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. Isn't that fast enough? GM is wasting money on stupid hybrid Corvettes instead of focusing on the basics.
marlon alston Most northern states use salt on the roads, one winter and your vehicle is done for! If you can afford to C8 then you can afford something else to drive during the winter months. Long live the true American Super/Sports car! I’ve got C8 2020 Vision baby! 😎
@@curiousgeorge7386 I'm from NYC, so I'm very familiar with what is used for snow up north, and I know for a fact that's not true simply do to fact that I've owned many vehicles up north, and my vehicles were perfectly fine come the next spring. These new paint jobs are a little more high-tech than what you, on top of that there's a clear protector put on certain parts of the vehicle with winter driving in mind.
I love everything revealed about this car so far. It will be a monumental mistake to omit 4WD without mechanical engagement to the drivetrain; that is to say, don't rely on electric motors to do it. The tuning World is not going to like messing around electric. Make it like the Nissan GTR so we can go nuts with it if we need to. Electric would severely restrict this.
What do you think about the two GM employees racing two C8s and get arrested for clocking over 100 mph? www.automobilemag.com/news/gm-employees-jailed-racing-c8-corvettes-street/
Great no has yet to take possession of a C8 yet this is the focus. How about one person does a review of a non press car before we get excited about the Z06. Remember according to GM the C8 losses money at everything under 80k on a C8. I wonder what this means for the Z06. Bad good or great the Vett is no longer the Everyman sports car it once was. The Z06 will be in 911 territory with some basic options and could be in the 911S territory if they raise the base C8 to 80k as predicted.
Will the rims on the grand sport and Z crack like all the others do?? And GM tells you to get fucked !!!! I love corvettes but it's in the wrong hands with GM. Cracked rims, super chargers that heat up, transmissions that skip and shift hard and we also have torque converter problems and shocks that leak. Had to sue them twice and suspect there will be a host of problems with this C8!! Too bad GM builds it.
Note that they covered up the wheels this time. I was very disappointed with the awful wheels on the base car. When we first saw them on the mule cars I couldn't believe that they were actually going to put such hideous wheels on the production version. But they defied logic and actually used them. Hopefully they step things up on the Z. As far as tires go, my money is on 335's. Definitely M&S. You're not driving 3" in snow on summers. Besides, they would crack in the cold.
Thumbs up for the C8 Z06!!
ALL Wheel Drive!!!
This is why their testing in the snow. YES PLZ!!!!!!!
Spotted in the wild ....I love my 2020 Corvette stingray spider with 3LT Z-51 package 🔥 content coming to our channel with this car build
100% those are the all season tires.
Please be higher then 600HP I don’t want to wait for a ZR1
Just imagine... the ZR1 will probably top out above $250K
Hopefully the zo6 will be knocking on the 700hp door!
How much do you think the Z06 will cost? Trying to see if I should wait.
Who makes those wheels on the blue car pictured?

Ha, just read how 2 engineers got arrested in Kentucky for racing a couple C8's around town. Lol.
Nice video man👍
The clickbait rendering you have of the ZO6 looks amazing, that should have been the standard C8 Corvette!
@2:24 the taunting of the exotic. lol. lets get em

Damn the blue looks sick

it won’t really put an end to the rivalry..... fanboys will still say that the C8 z06 better be faster than the gt500 because it costs more.
it won't even be close.Z06 will destroy the Gpee-5

Roger Kremer oh yeah the C8 Z06 is going to make an example out of both the GT500 for not staying in their league. Especially picking on base C8
The front grille on the blue hybrid photo looks awesome. I think i like it better

Yes the tires were Pirelli ice zero Tire. Tread pattern matches exactly.
That's what I'm talking about.👍😯😯😯😁
Awaiting for ZO6/ZR1
Good info. Tnx brother. Im waiting for the grand sport model.
Holding out for C8 ZR1

I will be interested in buying all wheel drive and sounds amazing with 1,000 horse power!
It literally hurts to see this in the snow!
Why, considering the fact that they made it to be driven all year round?
It's badass that it's in the snow.
marlon alston Most northern states use salt on the roads, one winter and your vehicle is done for! If you can afford to C8 then you can afford something else to drive during the winter months. Long live the true American Super/Sports car!

Salt spray will tend to flow into aero ducts. There may also be seams and suspension components that are vulnerable from the bottom of the car?
0:57 the brakes look sloted
You dont really thing they are tsting Snow Performance do you ?
I certainly dont want a experimental engine over a supercharged small block.
i agree. the flat plane crank is not as reliable and sounds terrible.
285/30/19 325/25/20. 10x19 12x20
Definitely easier to handle than a zr1
👌🏾

Gimme 660-670hp for the zo6

I say 695 HP
The rear tires are freaking fat.
TT 700HP. Not N/A. Not paying$$$ to go back in technology. TheC8 is not a light Car.

If they continue the trend, usually the Z06's and higher trims get a very nice set of wheels.
