Awesome value. They will sell the heck out of this package. Are 95% likely to use the extra capabilities? No. But the whole car is already well into the realm of the excessive. This is a supercar; guys are going to want it supercar'ed out. I probably would too. (But I think I'd honestly rather a C7 grand sport w/ manual. For now.)
Ordered mine today! I went with the Z51 but didn't pick up the MGRC. Please, subscribe for upcoming content. First Video will launch this week! Let the C8 countdown begin!!!!!
Thanks. I very much appreciate that. I basically watch you and Rick Conti as my legitimate sources for information on the C8. I currently own a 2016 Stingray 3LT with the Z51 package, but kind of want to wait to see what the Grand Sport and Z06 cars will be. I'm so excited about the C8 and look forward to your videos to keep me updated and informed so thanks again.
Imagine if you could put a cost on each of those items individually. We know the exhaust item is 1195. I think the other 8 items are well worth 3805. Even if you don't track the car the value of the Z51 package speaks for itself.
I bought a C8 HTC Z51 1LT. It’s awesome I’m more of a performance option guy than a luxury option guy. The only thing I miss is not getting the 2LT or 3LT is the heads up display. For me the extra HP and louder exhaust is nice. I drive all my Corvettes aggressively so it’s worth having the Z51. One thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video is resale. From what I learned about the resale of Corvettes, I’ve owned 8, the higher optioned the car is the more it holds it’s value.
The Z51 package is still the best deal - the elsd make a big difference, without it under hard acceleration the base C7 can get loose in a hurry, mag ride is fantastic to smooth out irritating teeth rattling little imperfections in the road and in doing so makes for less road noise in the cabin and the Z51 corners flatter and you just feel more secure on the road, and in being more stuck to the road cornering response is quicker this is nice on regular roads too not just on the track. It just makes a world of difference in the C7 and I think will do the same in the C8 since it is so much quicker. I don't like the looks of the spoiler but the high wing is over $1000 more and is a rear end tear down at the dealer I can't justify getting the high wing since I've already paid for the other spoiler- I will see what the after market has tow offer. Also the 400lbs of downforce is at 180mph! I will not see that number unless I'm in an airplane 150 is MY top speed what I'd like to know is how much downforce is there at 80 or 90mph
This video was very well done. I’ve ordered a 2022 C8. I opted not to get the Z51 package because I have no intention to track the car. However, if you do intend to track your car then I feel strongly the Z51 package is a MUST have option.
I believe the best reason to buy the Z51 package even if you don't track it is resale. Many people just like to have extras are the car may be worth more with Z51 and perhaps sell more quickly.
@adam dev _ Don't ask this on You Tube. Ask this to those who drive Porsche's Lamborghini's, Aston Martin's, Audi R8's, McLaren's, Even BMW M owners. You will find them at dealer service stations and European car repair shops.
If you add up all these options separately, then it is a great deal. Also this package helps resale value. How much? Also there is the cool factor. Buying s Corvette is a cool factor statement. Having that Z51 badge only adds to that.
Well the Zora button is a good example. You can have your magnetic suspension set up to your preferences as well as the rest of the car settings and when you hit the Zora button the car tailors itself to you. But l would imagine even without the FE4 suspension the car would handle well. In my opinion Z51is a must have for a sports car enthusiast. Plus the splitter and tasteful rear spoiler and other improvements. The magnetic suspension is not a must have, but works well on the ZL1. On a personal note having specked my car to cost exactly eighty thousand dollars. l would be extremely happy with it at that price point which includes the Z51 package and FE4.

The new MR in the C8 is supposed to be noticeably better as it is the 4 gen and the 2018/19 MR was a lot better than the 2014/15 MR so much so that GM was offering a reflash of the new spec Mero developed (for a fee of course) I just wish the Z51 had a better looking spoiler I really don't need 400lbs of downforce cuz I'm never going 180mph my top speed is 150 and I don't know how much downforce you get at 60-90 mph. I will probably replace it with a nice low spoiler when the after market catches up (depending)
Great info & detail. I did spec the z51 & hope to get some track time in. I also considered resale value as a potential plus with the z51 vs without it.
MRC is fantastic. Have it on my truck and it takes potholes and bumps like a champ, also activates when it senses tight turns at high speeds. Struts are expensive to replace but well worth for the extra comfort. Only difference between the truck and sport car ones is the dial in the camaros and vettes leave wthem fully active in sport and track modes.
This was the MOST informative review of the upcoming C8. Thanks so much for this. I'm curious how the C8's suspension/ride will be WITHOUT the Z51 package.
I ordered my 2022 3LT Z51 fully loaded with front lift because for me it just makes sense. I’m probably not going to track it but love the extra equipment and features plus ya only live once might as well get it all. Hope you’re enjoying your corvette!!!!
i have the non z51 2021 2 lt c8 and its an amazing car. dont need the small extras that the z51 has its plenty quick and great to drive everyday. i have the front lift gt2 seats and yadayada its a fun car
Same case for me with the Z51, especially the Magnetic Ride, Carbon Fiber Interior Trim, Engine Appearance Package, Bright Red Brake Calipers, Spectra Gray Trident Wheels, and Body Color Accents. Torch Red for me please!🍓🍒❤😎 *Prince's Little Red Corvette starts playing*
The base C7 did have cooling issues for the transmission. The 2016 Z51 package and all other Z51 years after that have a second radiator added for better cooling.
This video was very well done and thought out. You are quite right. My C7 did have the Z51 package. I’ve recently sold that car and am awaiting my 2022 C8. Prices are now higher than 2020 prices. I’ve opted on not getting the Z51 package. I feel it is just too expensive for a daily driver. Now that being said if you are planning to seriously track your C8 then I consider the Z51 package a MUST HAVE option. Cheers!
I think youve left off one item on the Z51 package and that is, a different axle drive that makes it get to 60mph in 2.9 seconds which does lower the top speed from 194mph to like 184mph or 186 etc. Nicely made video, cheers!
They should have added a slick bottom option with a diffuser, it would greatly improve down-force, they could add doors underneath fixed by screws for changing oil and other common access places
I went for the 2024 1LT in Cacti-green, the only options were the NPP exhaust and PPF for the front from the dealer. Got the car new for $67k plus taxes and stuff... Nice exhaust, cool color, 10 speaker Bose, power everything, leather everything, digital rear view mirror, etc... What else does one really need, for the daily driver, weekend toy and maybe a track day once a year?
If your going to be one of the first buyers I personally think you should get it. The rear camera/nicer interior/optional lift front its a no brainer. I had a spot to get a early one however have decided to do one of 2 things. Wait for the awesome Z06 or buy a unused low mileage from someone who bought early and I’ll get a bargain. Just saying.
Tom Dickson waiting for a used one is much smarter. I completely agree. Big reason I am buying right away is I need a new car as my current one is beginning to have issues and my channel will benefit from it. The Z06 will be incredible so I don’t blame you for waiting!
My 2015 C7 is not a Z51 car and it is spectacular, however I drove a new 3LT Z51 last summer and the steering and suspension was so responsive it was like driving a go cart. I am always a little leery of the tendency of the back end of the C7 to want to come around when subjected to hard driving, so the idea of the best possible suspension under that much horsepower did not seem too silly, so I ordered the Z51.
The bigger brakes and tires on the Z51 can be a big deal as a daily driver especially if you live in deer country and a lot of us do. Stopping several feet shorter can make the difference between hitting something or some idiot who steps out into traffic a big deal or just a kid or a dog. I experience this at least twice a month and because I am always scanning the sides it has been somewhat close a few times a yr but unless you are constanting scanning the sides and most people don't 5 or 10 ft is huge.
I like the C8. Might be able to order one next year for the 2021 model year when they get a few bugs worked out. I kinda want to order a bone stock one just because it's already so nice. The options aren't really worth it to me. Only option I want is the accelerate yellow that's $500 (probably a tough car to find lol). The exhaust, spoiler, and brakes are good but not worth 5k to me.
And honestly I would like to say thank you to Chevrolet for making a great car that is affordable for the working man or woman, and not for some rich kid who doesn't know what a socket wrench looks like. #GM4life 🇺🇸💪
The most disappointing thing with the new C8 is that MRC is only a Z51 option. I had read it was much more geared towards comfort that previous generations so it defies logic that it's not a generally available option.
Ferrari has a Mag Ride option but it’s not made by GM, however GM and Ferrari have shared information over the years, case in point, Ferrari helped GM design and develop the 8 spd auto for the C7’s
@@wrzl1675 MagneRide was pioneered by GM subsidiary Delphi, it's GM Tech in Ferrari 599 Ferrari F12berlinetta Ferrari California Ferrari FF Ferrari 458 Italia La Ferrari Lamborghini Aventador www.wardsauto.com/news-analysis/ferrari-picks-magneride
I opted not to have it on my 2019 7spd C7. I don't track my car and use it for touring mostly. So I want the nicer ride. However if I decide to go with the C8, I'll probably add it and the MRC. I agree with your thoughts on the rear spoiler and will probably do what you are thinking and get the higher spoiler at the dealer later. Thanks for the information, it was helpful.
If you intend to track your car the Z51 package is a MUST option. If you are not going to track your car save your money. I did track my C7. When I bought my C8 I knew I was not going to track the car so no Z51 for me. Cheers!
Just get a second set of wheels with the Michelin A/S 3+, they're actually a really good tire. I've used them on track and they break in a predictable easy to manage way.
@@hby7768 I had them on a C6 and now on my C7 Grand Sport, both cars have been driven hard in the mountains and even though they're not a track tire they work well for getting started as I was a couple years ago.
Problem is that you get so much in that Z51 package that it’s hard to overlook. If they just included MRC and made it 5500 to 6000, it would be an impassable value
I would like to get the Z51 with the mag ride, and electronic diff. Except with the standard gear ratio. The lower gear would be great for drag racing, but i prefer the taller gearing for road racing. It is nice to be able to use first gear more then a few feet!!
Randall Mason I didn’t think anyone had driven any C8 yet? But you’ve gotten to try out both at your favorite track? As soon as the embargo is up please post the video!
Well. Got my corvette as a "used car" eith 1100 miles on it. Its hard top Convertable with magnaride and sports exhaust. Did not have z51 package. I traded in a 750 ho mustang for this slow car lol. Mostly my concern is adding cooling to the car for track days. Brakes will be taken care of with pads and brake fluid. Mostly interested in seeing if i can add the brake cooling kit to it and an oil and trans cooler. The oil and trans cooler is going to be interesting as i dont even know if you can get those or need to be custom fab
All season tires might keep you out of a 70 mph hydroplaned spin, the trees come up really fast! For 5 HP just bring lots of cash, mag ride and lift don’t come with the 5k price! The big disks only give up 1/2” additional sweep!
1.) Better cooling might be beneficial if driven in a hot climate like Phoenix, Az., where 110++ degrees is normal for 3+ months of the year. But even if the engine doesn't show at the dash temp gauge as 'over' heating, it will be running hotter than if you lived in say Colorado and other cooler areas. Especially if the engine is required to hump over mountain and high hills. 2.) Don't both issues of the C8 come with equal amounts of brake cooling? 3.) Do - Don't take the Z51 package? It seems to me that when it comes to resale, this package would definitely open more buyers, as some wouldn't consider buying a non Z51 Vette. Finally, I would like to hear a response concerning the upgraded cooling. Thanks
Recently I placed my order for a brand new C8 Corvette. I decided to forgo the Z 51 package because my vehicle will never go on a race track and $6000 a lot of money I can use it on other things for the car.
I have 2 questions, i am not a car person so sorry for my stupidity lol How did he get the spoiler at 9:07? Like what does he mean that it is a "dealer option"? also i live in chicago so are summer only tires REALLY not supposed to be used in winter? Would it actually be that bad using them in the cold?
Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'm never going to track my car so comfort is s little more important to me than the rumored .1 sec faster 0-60. Plenty of time for me to decide though! I got a late allocation and will most likely not have my car till June of July
@@FullThrottleDrive valid point either way! Going to wait for either Chevy or auto mags to announce official non Z51 numbers. Thanks for the breakdown in your video!
Pfft the base will be under 2 with probaly a .2 diffrence maybe the exhaust and maybe the tires what push it under 3 cant imagine anything else the z51 offers that would push it under 3
For me, a hard core sports car and track day fan, the Z51 pacage is not enough. I'll wait another year for the Z06 package with wider track focuses wheels and sticker tires, race bolsyered seats, carbon ceramic brakes. and hopefully even better track suspension and more power. :)
I'm looking forward to seeing the Grand Sport. I don't need/want 800 turbo charged HP; even on a track. (I don't think, at least not yet) But all the other Zo6 handling goodies are very tasty and tend to end up on the Grand Sport with a base motor.
Having the magnetic ride control & ESL make this a decision I can make in about 2 seconds. For the novice driver this car can get you in a world of hurt if you're over aggressive & that ESL can bail you out of some embarrassing & expensive moments. The magnetic ride speaks for itself, as others have posted if Ferrari copied it then you know it's a legit must have.
If you maxed out the options and broke the 100k barrier, this car would still be a bargain. There is nothing like this car in existence for anywhere near this price. I fully expect in the next few weeks to get a full review from the serious reviewers saying there is nothing even close on track and street to this car in this price range. I would put money on this frame design being better than anything in the industry without a carbon tub, and with. Nobody actually paid attention to the presentation. GM came up with a entirely new design process in frame design. People still think that a DOHC engine is better in this application when the car does 3.0 seconds with 500hp. Could anyone imagine what a LT5 would do.
My Y2K C5 has the Z51 package, now wondering if that designation implied similar "improvements" some 20 years ago. It sure rides rougher after replacing the sway bar links and Bilsteins all around.
If want a smooth ride get the base if want rougher get z51. Z51 only useful if u track the car. To go under 3 is exhaust and probaly the tires. I wouldnt get the tires if you dont live in a warm climate year round cause they will crack or lose integrity , the difference is minscule or almost non exsistant for the tires.
@@epicxelxl8324 Not true dude. The magnetic ride is NOT rougher... unless you crank it up in settings... hence its utilization on most Cadillacs. You're full of it.
I’m really enjoying my new 2023 C8 Z51 2LT HTC in amplify orange with carbon metallic it’s revolutionary memorable unforgettable incredible remarkable phenomenal. The word I’m looking for is Beast, Exotic car look!
If tracking or racing car on track yes if daily driving or doing 0 to 60 no. They say z51 needed to go under 3 but what is pushing the car under 3 is exhaust and probaly the tires other than that the rest is track useful to work only. I dont plan on taking it to the track if i did my insurance would go up.
I guess the danger of overloading performance features on a base model is that it comes too close to the Z06 which will have a lot of those features standard...if you are patient enough for the Z06 to come out.
As usual your presentations are right on. I look forward to seeing more. Do you have any idea when your C8 will arrive? I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and still have no idea when it will arrive. Thanks.

Tom Dickson waiting for a used one is much smarter. I completely agree. Big reason I am buying right away is I need a new car as my current one is beginning to have issues and my channel will benefit from it. The Z06 will be incredible so I don’t blame you for waiting!
You might save $5k used...these cars are going to hold their value longer than typical vettes..
I wanted the performance exhaust and wing so 2 grand more to get more was a no Brainer 5000 it was worth it
I ordered it with out the z51 great video thank you so much
I have a base C8 and I am building my own Z51 with aftermarket and Z51 parts.
My car is on order, definitely getting Z51 and magride.
I lived in west county St.louis for 16 yrs. I also worked in kc for 3 yrs. Love n Missouri!

🇺🇸💪
Affordable? 😅😅. Thats a Chevy cruze.
The most disappointing thing with the new C8 is that MRC is only a Z51 option. I had read it was much more geared towards comfort that previous generations so it defies logic that it's not a generally available option.
Thank you very much, you answered many questions I had.
Ferrari uses GMs magnetic rid control system.
My GOD!!!!!😮
Have it on my Chevy SS sedan, MAG ride is phenomenal. so dynamic, I put it in performance mode just for turns sometimes, its that seamless and quick.
Ferrari has a Mag Ride option but it’s not made by GM, however GM and Ferrari have shared information over the years, case in point, Ferrari helped GM design and develop the 8 spd auto for the C7’s
@@wrzl1675 MagneRide was pioneered by GM subsidiary Delphi, it's GM Tech in Ferrari 599

Randy Carlisle sorry gm design.
Cheers!
Excellent video and insights.
Personally I want all season tires because it will be a daily I need mileage more than stickiness. I will have a separate set of wheels for track.
Just get a second set of wheels with the Michelin A/S 3+, they're actually a really good tire. I've used them on track and they break in a predictable easy to manage way.
@@TexasRiverRat31254 Ive heard good things about the a/s line from Michelin
@@hby7768 I had them on a C6 and now on my C7 Grand Sport, both cars have been driven hard in the mountains and even though they're not a track tire they work well for getting started as I was a couple years ago.
nice video.Clear and to the point.
I wonder if you can buy the z51 package with the all season tires?
Problem is that you get so much in that Z51 package that it’s hard to overlook. If they just included MRC and made it 5500 to 6000, it would be an impassable value
Great video! Most informative.
Very helpful video . I am not getting the package. I will add the high wing spoiler, red calipers, and performance exhaust.
Great video, thanks for the in depth info.
Thank you for the in-depth information as I transition from a mustang to the corvette
Great video! Honest, informative and well done. This will help with the decision 👍🏻👍🏻
NICE, responsible informative you tubing, thank you
I would like to get the Z51 with the mag ride, and electronic diff.
JeepCherokeeful. No I have not had a chance to drive a C8 yet. Just referring to past experiences with drag racing, and road racing cars/ motorcycles.
Thanks for the informative vid Full Throttle Drive
Really well done presentation. Very clear and well thought out. All at all while done.
Well. Got my corvette as a "used car" eith 1100 miles on it. Its hard top
Convertable with magnaride and sports exhaust.
Thanks
Look at it this way, the 'starry sky' headliner on a Rolls is a $12,000 option - 5 grand doesn't seem too bad.
Recently I placed my order for a brand new C8 Corvette. I decided to forgo the Z 51 package because my vehicle will never go on a race track and $6000 a lot of money I can use it on other things for the car.
Very well done, great breakdown without bias. Subbed!
Thank you for the support!!
I have 2 questions, i am not a car person so sorry for my stupidity lol
How did he get the spoiler at 9:07? Like what does he mean that it is a "dealer option"?
also i live in chicago so are summer only tires REALLY not supposed to be used in winter? Would it actually be that bad using them in the cold?
My vette won’t see a rain drop...much less severe weather 😂❗️
Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'm never going to track my car so comfort is s little more important to me than the rumored .1 sec faster 0-60. Plenty of time for me to decide though! I got a late allocation and will most likely not have my car till June of July
Take your time, it is a big ticket item but regardless of what you do, you will have an incredible car in your garage!
@@FullThrottleDrive valid point either way! Going to wait for either Chevy or auto mags to announce official non Z51 numbers. Thanks for the breakdown in your video!
Pfft the base will be under 2 with probaly a .2 diffrence maybe the exhaust and maybe the tires what push it under 3 cant imagine anything else the z51 offers that would push it under 3
Well done and insightful and balance evaluation. Thanks,
Great video, great info and thank you for presenting the C8.
For me, a hard core sports car and track day fan, the Z51 pacage is not enough. I'll wait another year for the Z06 package with wider track focuses wheels and sticker tires, race bolsyered seats, carbon ceramic brakes. and hopefully even better track suspension and more power. :)
U know how much ita worth yet??
I'm looking forward to seeing the Grand Sport. I don't need/want 800 turbo charged HP; even on a track. (I don't think, at least not yet) But all the other Zo6 handling goodies are very tasty and tend to end up on the Grand Sport with a base motor.
waiting for the manual transmisiion option next year.
Tigerex966 you’ll be waiting a while
Having the magnetic ride control & ESL make this a decision I can make in about 2 seconds.
I wouldn't call it a bargain. You could buy a small home in Kansas for a little more than that.
@@nerychristian Its only a value for supercars.
I think you can get mag ride without the Z51 package. When I ordered mine the were 2 options mag ride with Z51 and one without. Good video though.
In other words, if you're not going to track it, it would probably make your ride on the street Worse. So don't waste the 5K
Mustang owner.. but I am very interested.. leaning more and more...Great Video BTW..
Thanks.
Hoping to see deliveries of first order arrive in Late Feb to Mid March.
Thanks for this useful and very informative video.
I want the spoiler and splitter & the Z51 calipers
So much of this stuff should come with the car anyways, like the Mag Ride.....
Very informative. GREAT job!!!
