This (long-term, daily, multi-season driven) kind of review is seriously needed for anyone seriously considering a relatively expensive car. Most of us make other sacrifices in order to afford purchase. We can’t afford to be surprised by lack of reliability, expensive repairs or very high maintenance costs. Thank you.

@@davidl922 and the probably with people like you is you say stuff like this that is just inherently ignorant. Most of these people aren’t buying it for the “rich look”. It’s because these vehicles are so fun to drive. For others it’s their dream vehicle regardless of what others think of it. Many corvettes for example are known as mid to high end sports cars (c8 may be considered an entry super car) that people actually drive. Meaning they can daily drive it and not necessarily just a car you bring out occasionally just cause it makes you look of higher status. Not just a garage queen, people put miles on these things and they love every second of it. That’s the real reason they get these cars. I understand some may buy the car for looks but that’s just not always the case with “people in America”

Had headers and tune on that one. Got rid of my 16Z06 with Lingenfelter package and she had 86k on her. Drove like a dream. Corvettes last and are easy to maintain for the most part. The interior in all gen will eventually fall apart but, it’s expected from the Chevy. Drive them hard and enjoy them.

One thing that has always been a Corvette product objective has been daily usability. Except for versions or options that are high-performance oriented (specially tires), any Vette was able to handle a Michigan winter and trips to the store. As far as GM is concerned, it's still a Chevy. Given this version's world-beating performance envelope, though, it's a actual miracle! This is what happens when GM puts their best on the job. I gotta be honest, the usability angle is actually one of the things I'm not sold on with the C8. I own an old C4 (damn near the only Corvette I could afford at my age), and that thing's rear compartment fits honest to god full-size suitcases like it's messing around. At one point, I drove a couple miles from the tire shop with two rims and *two full wheels* in the cabin, which it handled - less than gracefully, perhaps, but still. This car is still usable, even as a daily, and with the front axle lift it even has a one up on mine - but I still feel it's much more compromised than the C4 through C7 gens (C4-C6 especially) where you could actually fit half a young adult's life into the car.

And all recent ones have limited-slip differentials, usually clutch ones - which flat out do not permit single-wheel spins.
Of course, they're not going to be SUV-strong in winter, but FOR. A. SPORTSCAR. they are more than adequate.

Good to see that there is real substance behind the flash. Wheels should be designed to handle the weight and speed of the vehicle and also account for Michigan potholes, of which there are millions.
One bent wheel is normal here and there. Four bent wheels is not. Unless the car ended up airborne at speed.
My Bimm 1-series is known to have heavy and weak aluminum wheels. I have personally been sideways on gravel roads beyond 80mph in this car, This car has at least 3,000mi of gravel road use. And it has been out beyond 130mph, 7K rpm top of fourth into 5th on 2-lane blacktop. I have hit gargantuan potholes in the rain at night. The tire shops have gouged the wheel paint with their machines, but I have never experienced a bent a rim.

You are right about MI roads being bad. Our governor Whitmer promised she would “fix the damn roads” but she did not do it.

wow, astonishing that a politician voted in in Michigan did not do what they promised... when has that ever happened before? Yup you have some of the worst roads I've seen nationswide, and you will continue to and have only yourselves to blame. Maybe learn a lesson from NYC on how not to vote next time

Yet, you people voted her back in. Hmmm.

Between winter and salt, I suspect that "fixing the roads" is an impossible task. Any fixes done one year are gone after the next winter.
