Super informative and clear! Thank you! I’ve seen a ton of other videos and it’s hard to tell what exactly you get at base price. Great job on visually showing that and what the upgrades would look like 👍🏽
I'm a huge sucker for the Zeus Bronze. Especially as shown at 1:35 with yellow calipers and seat belt. With the z51 pack and high wing option, that would be my personal go to spec. All the carbon goodies are awesome and look great but for the cost it's a hard sell for me. For the cost of the just the front grill carbon trim, you could purchase a used lt1 supercharger kit or be halfway to a new kit. Personally I'd rather have a 700hp c8 without carbon fiber trim versus a base c8 with carbon trim.
The smart buy is wait a few years after the C8 ZO6 is out and you will be able to pick up a fully loaded 3LT for in the 70’s. I bought a 100K C7 Z06 3LT with 10k miles for 73K !!
I love the Zeus Bronze myself, a very handsome color in metallic. I also believe the wheel choices are the weak point in design, forcing me to select Black to hide the strange style choice. I'm kind of a less is more person so even the clean base model looks appealing to me, I prefer the simple all Black base interior too. I could be happy with a 70K outfitted one as long as the dealer mark-up isn't too much.
z50 Except that no one is buying a 60k C8. Average price on orders is mid 70k. A 77k car is hardly affordable for what used to be an everyday man sports car.

The base model is still loaded for its price. Also nappa leather is really soft. Combine that with the 2lt seats with high side bolsters, then it will also easily scratch the side bolsters. Hence the competition seats has a fabric portion on the side bolsters since this part will see most wear as you gon in and out the car.

Great video! I ordered my Torch Red 1LT after all of my research back in November because of the look of the car, the motor, and the amazing performance stats... The standard features great but I did add the performance exhaust, red calipers and seat belts. I almost pulled the trigger on the Z51 but I'm not going to be tracking the car much and also I will get my C8 without a spoiler! I love the natural lines of the car because. It reminds me of a Ferrari 360 Modena! #Sexy This is a game changing car in my opinion...
I know I can’t compare but, I have a sixth gen camaro ss and I would highly recommend getting the MRC. I have it and have to say it’s absolutely fantastic and in my opinion, a must get option.
I like to mod my cars, so I am thinking of getting the base model and work from there. Plan is to build a track monster not just a track capable car. It already has the horsepower, so all I need to do is upgrade the brakes and suspension. Horsepower can always be added later.
The Z51 package has serious cooling upgrades needed for the track. Additional radiator, oil cooler etc.. You might want to check out the details on that package.
Nice video! I do believe the base c8 comes with a limited slip diff but the z51 has an electronic diff. The z51 also has more aggressive gearing for the diff which is probably the main reason it has a slightly better 0-60. The base model car is a great deal though!
There is no reason why anyone should ever settle for 1LT if they really have desire for additional options. Either shell out the money for at least a new 2LT, or just buy a used 2/3LT if you are into saving money. Now, for those who don't care for options, go ahead and get 1LT.
$60k is still allot of money and you still get a lot of car for that price. I think if I did have extra, instead of upgrades, I might go for the convertible, is amazing. Lucky to the people who can afford any of these levels, quite a car
@@rickhunter6513 which model to get depends on what each person has driven prior to obtaining a C8 and how much they're comfortable with paying. Those who have driven a base should experience a Z06/ZR1 at least once.
One of the major benefits of the mag shocks is that they greatly improve the ride of the Z51 to almost as good as the base suspension so unless you want to track the car there is no reason to opt for the Z51 as the standard suspension rides even better (this is per Corvette Consierge) . I think it is the Performance Exhaust, not the Z51 package that adds the 5 hp so you can spend $1200 and get the extra hp on the base car. The C8 looks much better without the ugly spoiler so that is another reason to save money and not go with the Z51.
@Dan Wipper I would absolutely spend on the convertible vs the Z51but do you think you will actually put top down that much. Have had a lot of convertibles over many years but even in San Diego where the weather is about as good as it gets I rarely put the top down. The nice thing about the C8 is that when the top is up it is 100% a closed coupe with all the advantages and security and you can drop/put up the top in 16 sec at up to 30 mph so it is really the best of both worlds.
@@philsalley3278 do you find the convertibles alot more free than the targa? I know you it's a little more complicated to take on/off and can't do it driving but in my experience vette targas have been great at both being a coupe and an open top.
I thought I read the c8 mag ride made it more comfortable than the base and I think that's the sentiment on previous gen Corvettes. I think I remember my gen 1 mag ride felt better than a friend.w/o
@@bobkilla430 I asked Corvette Consierge this question and they said on 1-10 scale the base suspension was a 10 while the Z51 was a 5. With the Mag Shocks the Z51 was a 9-10 so the base suspension is a little better. If you want Z51 it would seem the Mag Shocks are a must have option.
@@bobkilla430 In my experience if you have to physically remove something vs pushing a button, you will rarely physically do it. The convertible C8 is really a coup with an automatic targa top that takes up no space in the trunk.
Good video. I have not yet decided on 1 or 2LT. Couple things you didn't mention that lean me to 2LT are the blind spot detection and video recording capability. Two huge safety considerations. Nice job on the video ... MORE!
There will be mods from other manufacturers as this car comes out Suspension, Exhaust, wheels, Exterior Mods and more that can be better and cost less than GM Parts. The mark up for extra things is crazy from GM. The car is absolutely beautiful and would be fine with stock 1LT the seats are just fine and then mod it with things I really want and not get stuck paying a ton for extras I don’t want.
Campagna t-rex pretty sweet as well. When one wheel putting the power down it's 0-60 time is pretty impressive. Better power to weight ratio as well with it. Yes it's classified as a motorcycle though but in all honesty it's much more of a car than a motorcycle. New corvette though is pretty nice.
Man, I am SO surprised that even the base grade C8 looks super good. Yes Z51 package does make it look better but base is already looking like a supercar and I love it. To be completely honest I didn`t like how base C7 looked with those cheap looking wheels and tiny rear spoiler. I genuinely didn`t like it to a point if I were to have it I`ll add Z51 parts to make it look better. You and many people in the comment section hates the C8 wheels but they look good enough to me. I do wish more aggressively designed options were available, but I think it`s good enough to make it look like a supercar. Anyways this is not only a $60,000 supercar, but this is a automotive revolution. This, this is going to remain in history as one of the most iconic moments in the performance car history.
60 Grand and you get that they're not going to be able to build them fast enough people are going to be going crazy for these cars I would love to have one looks very sharp.
Okay this will eventually happen. Car 60k, Supercharger, tune and extra cooling 10k, Bilstein coil over, wheels and tires 10k= Lamborghini performante and beyond for under 90k. This package will be done guaranteed, and the performance is guaranteed as well in a reliable package that has a chassis as good or better than Lamborghini or a new Tributo. There is no deal like this and you could wrap the interior and exterior in pure carbon fiber ftom the aftermarket and still be under 120k easily.
Finally corvettes get some exotic colours. Most people would probably buy some aftermarket wheels eventually so that’s not the worst thing but they aren’t great.
Very professional review of the base car which has been a bit overlooked by the print media in favor of Z51 coverage. BTW, is the optional performance exhaust (separate from Z51) worth the cost?
You can get a VERY nice C8 for right at $70k. Z51 Package, Glass roof, colored calipers and seat belts, color matched exterior accents, and the best wheels comes to $70,465
Honestly some corvette enthusiasts hat that its mid engine and dont like it but i think its quite a beautiful car honestly one of the only chevys that makes me go hmmmm i kinda want that
Min 8:48 have you guys noticed, this is the only sport car with bigger rotor on the rear , 13.3 rear and 12.6 front , cars enthusiast know , big rotors always on the front .
I have a C7 3lt w/performance exhaust. I regret not getting the Z51 package but on the C8 if you are a first time Corvette owner trust me you will be more than ecstatic with a mid engine C8.
@Full Throttle Drive Do you know if the magnetic suspension is required for the ride lift? (to get over speed bumps and such)? For me, the z51 + magnetic ride seem to be the only 2 essential items on top of base.
You don't need the magnetic suspension, but as of now they only offer it on the 2LT or 3LT trims. So if you stick with 1LT you cannot get the lift system.
Like you said, there isn't a big enough leap of performance for the Z51 trim over the base to warrant the price difference. That being said the best bet would be to get a base model to review and put through its paces while waiting for a higher tier performance model like the Z06 or ZR-1.
I have a confession. I saw the new C8 Corvette from a different light today. I usually have to grow into liking a car, but this time I grew out of liking a car, given that I liked it right off the bat. Sometimes down the line, maybe 3-5 years later I ask myself how I could have liked a car. Today, I did that with the Corvette. The Ferrari has a nice shape, the lambo has a nice shape. This car looks like someone designed the front and someone else designed the boxy back. The boxy back takes a lot away for the asthetic. Even though the sales will be great, because there are so many people excited about the redesign and all the power, lots of people will have the same negative feeling about the car. It looks like a 2000 concept Corvette, that already aged. I think it's the boxy back of the car that makes it look that way. Don't get me wrong, it's gonna sell like crazy.
For those of us who do not race on the track 490 HP is more than enough to get you to the supermarket and back. I am old enough to remember when super cars had less than 300 HP and provided a good driver with sufficient thrills. I find it interesting that, with the threat of climate change hanging over our heads, we are still opting for V-8s that are mostly good for waking up the neighbors on Sunday morning. A turbo 6 cylinder will press you back into your Recaro seats and make you feel like a king of the road. I have a turbo 4 that produces a mere 245 HP and it allows me to pass quickly and cruise comfortably at 70mph at 2000 rpm. Of course, when I was 20 I needed all the horsepower and muffler noise I get get on my 1966 Mustang GT, but that was a long time ago. The $60,000 LT1 appears to be all the car you need unless you are an Ayrton Senna wannabe.
It does seem like the best option in the 60k range. We need tests of this vs the current top cars in the 60-80k price range. Cayman S, Alpine, M2, Supra (tuned, if the other cars are high spec, that engine makes about 450hp with a pretty cheap ecu remap). Then add something exotic (not latest gen) to the mix, like a 458 or GT3
I'll probably wait two or three years for Corvette to work out all the bugs. Everyone knows first year production cars always have some bug to work out, so I'll wait. I'll probably be paying a bunch more in 2023 but if they get it right, then it's worth the wait.
Love the car not the price may have to get bugs out of first year. Way over my budget. I’m gonna stay with my red 1980 love the stingray look Beautiful car they really went all out👍❤️😎
Chevrolet turns the automotive world upside down with the new C8 mid-enginge Corvette! Just plain awesomeness! Now create a TRUE 4-door answer to Dodge & it's Charger please to put the icing on the cake!
You will very rarely ever see a manual in modern sports cars they are all getting away from them...these cars are just too technically advanced and powerful for manual transmissions...and with modern automatics a human physically can't out shift them anymore
Plot twist, wheels were one of the last thing to be considered while they spent a long time putting the rest of the car for price reasons. Maybe they just figured there'd be so much popularity for it, aftermarket wheels would be available all over the place.
Has everyone forgotten that this is supposed to be a Sports Car? When the upgrades only get you a fraction faster, oh but you can have this wonderful stitching and all this other heavy stuff you don't really want or need. Don't get me wrong. It is a total rethinking by Chevrolet to have a rear engine Corvette and as with most other cars the first production year offers less as far as engine or hp upgrades go but this car has waaaay too many fuzzy dice and butt warmers for a supposedly new model line. Better get the Turbo model on the way by July GM!
Z51 brakes are 13.3 in front and 13.8 in rear from 12.6 front and 13.3 rear The gt2 seats were very comfortable the few minutes I was in and seemed alot more comfortable vs the gt1 seats. I agree non of the wheels look good. If I was to buy base I'd have to get the 2lt because of imo the must have, magnetic ride option, only possible from a 2lt. So upgraded seats, nappa leather (mulan is only 5% leather) brown leather interior and I'd also option the light blue exterior. ~$75k total with the z51 package. However new renderings of the zo6 look much better than base and I'd wait for the grand sport.
Sure. You could definitely do that. They’ll likely depreciate about $5000-$6000 a year and the average car with a few options will cost $70,000, so you’ll be waiting about 6-7 years.

I would get the 2lt because I would like to have the rear camera mirror and navigation that doesn't come with the 1lt and especially the heads up display, gt2 seats and wireless charger.
I will rarely take the car to the track and just use it on the streets most of the time so I wouldn't get the z51 package.
Finn Custom Knives its a classy colour

Maybe now I can aim my investment to the c7 just maybe , its still expensive as hell
Bout $32,000
Great vid... everything I needed to know..I will be getting the base in black
The base model would suit me just fine! At $60,000 it's a steal, heck a new Ford Raptor will set you back that much. . .
So true!
Exactly. I plan on buying a used base one in a few years
z50
Except that no one is buying a 60k C8.
Average price on orders is mid 70k.
A 77k car is hardly affordable for what used to be an everyday man sports car.
@@miketheman4341 I paid $39,000 for my 1999 Hardtop. And yes $77,000 is getting up there. But $60,000 for a mid engine High Performance car is cheap. I bet not many dealers want to sell a base model 2020 Corvette. . .
z50
No one is ordering the base model. According to Chevy it’s impossible to find anyone who wants the base model let alone hoping to get a discount.
2 years later. Have never seen a single c8 sell for 60k more like 89k -110k
Dude's good doing voice-overs. Well done.
This looks so much better than the previous models now I'll actually consider corvette as a high end favorite (appearance wise)
There's a weird edit at 7:45 (a man appears, entirely out of context, for about a frame or so).
good job sherlock...
BEST C8 VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN BAR NONE!!!
If I had the money I'd put my order in right this minute cuz I've never made enough to get one my two favorite Corvettes where the 57 and the new C8 it isn't awesomely bitchin car
I have to say I love your videos, they are very informative, please keep up the great work, and best of luck with your Vette, as for me I have to wait another two to three years before I can get mine, due to putting my last child through College.
Regardless Corvette is going to be taking over the roads with this beautiful car at such a reasonable price point. Can't wait to see them all over the place. Hopefully other car companies start doing the same.
#Sexy
This is a game changing car in my opinion...
C8 will be like a camry on the street in 3 years.
Jun Mfour4 why is it cause the price ?
So? U mean an inexpensive realiable car with the exception that this one willl be fun? Hows that a. Bad thing
You win the award dime a dozen.
Nice breakdown of everything. Been looking for this info on the base C8.
Nice video! I do believe the base c8 comes with a limited slip diff but the z51 has an electronic diff. The z51 also has more aggressive gearing for the diff which is probably the main reason it has a slightly better 0-60. The base model car is a great deal though!
@Dan Wipper Bit more drag from the z51 as well.
ShinyBlackRims can’t argue with that 👍🏼
One of the major benefits of the mag shocks is that they greatly improve the ride of the Z51 to almost as good as the base suspension so unless you want to track the car there is no reason to opt for the Z51 as the standard suspension rides even better (this is per Corvette Consierge) .
Idk I still prefer the C7 over the C8. The C7 has the most unique and iconic design. I’ll have to see a C8 in person.
Good video. I have not yet decided on 1 or 2LT. Couple things you didn't mention that lean me to 2LT are the blind spot detection and video recording capability. Two huge safety considerations. Nice job on the video ... MORE!
Tom Crook I mentioned in the video the lack of a few cameras compared to 2lt. Didn’t go into much detail though.
Very informational and straight to the point nice vid

There's an upgrade route certainly but those costs are a touch optimistic.
@@tcroft2165 Actually not if you look at the C7s aftermarket products.

I agree, the base model would do me just fine. In red. Just a mattar of when, it takes a bit longer to arrive here down under. Safe driving to all.
Z51 includes the electronic limited-slip differential.
The base car uses a mechanical limited-slip differential.

GM recently announced that the entire production run for 2020 is sold out.
Very professional review of the base car which has been a bit overlooked by the print media in favor of Z51 coverage. BTW, is the optional performance exhaust (separate from Z51) worth the cost?
You can get a VERY nice C8 for right at $70k.

So if you stick with 1LT you cannot get the lift system.
if its a 2020 model why hasn't anyone received theirs yet? 2020 models should have hit dealerships back in late summer
Stephen Jablonsky the only thing better than horse power is more horse power snowflake.
Yo I’m really high right now and all I can tell you THIS is a really good video good video

I'll probably wait two or three years for Corvette to work out all the bugs. Everyone knows first year production cars always have some bug to work out, so I'll wait. I'll probably be paying a bunch more in 2023 but if they get it right, then it's worth the wait.

$60,000 gets you 1st generation completely with glitches and problems. Next year you’ll get a 6 speed manual gearbox.
You will very rarely ever see a manual in modern sports cars they are all getting away from them...these cars are just too technically advanced and powerful for manual transmissions...and with modern automatics a human physically can't out shift them anymore
You will never see a manual in a C8. Cannot be done.
I drive an audi a8 , i want this c8 so badly. Amazing job chevy, also from what i hear magnaride is needed
Plot twist, wheels were one of the last thing to be considered while they spent a long time putting the rest of the car for price reasons. Maybe they just figured there'd be so much popularity for it, aftermarket wheels would be available all over the place.

The Z51 does come with more than the 5HP horsepower boost....namely the eLSD and Brembo brakes (and more).
Dude i think i just got a speeding ticket in the mail just from watching this
Has everyone forgotten that this is supposed to be a Sports Car? When the upgrades only get you a fraction faster, oh but you can have this wonderful stitching and all this other heavy stuff you don't really want or need. Don't get me wrong. It is a total rethinking by Chevrolet to have a rear engine Corvette and as with most other cars the first production year offers less as far as engine or hp upgrades go but this car has waaaay too many fuzzy dice and butt warmers for a supposedly new model line. Better get the Turbo model on the way by July GM!
Z51 brakes are 13.3 in front and 13.8 in rear from 12.6 front and 13.3 rear
The gt2 seats were very comfortable the few minutes I was in and seemed alot more comfortable vs the gt1 seats.
The only thing I wish was a standard option that isn’t is the rear view mirror camera. That is the only thing keeping me from the LT1.

Sure. You could definitely do that. They’ll likely depreciate about $5000-$6000 a year and the average car with a few options will cost $70,000, so you’ll be waiting about 6-7 years.

However there are people that work at the Chevrolet dealer that test drive these cars all the time and sell them for a lot less than you think. That one could be a good choice
