Great interview. Love your content. Saying this with nothing but respect and love. You're really going to trash talk cold plunges when you're doing ad reads for infra red blankets? 🤣
@@GigaTyGuy What're you missing? The cold plunge people didn't pay him. 😁
Silly me. I always thought it was “You’re welcome”
Ah ha. when Bret replied that his favorite part of the interview was your introduction praising him, he came close to effectively saying, "I'm crushing it"😁
@@sjmac9737 Actually there was a certain amount of brutal honesty in his answer. totally lacking humility... Personally I would have likely replied... How much you dragged cold plunges.
Brett Weinstein turned me into a conspiracy hypothesist.😎
I like that term! Haha. It's the intelligent ones that can at least entertain ideas. It's the imbeciles that outright reject them.
@@TuckFinn831You just described most of the intelligencia

@thoughtpolice9847 this is true...I've tried to express this idea to many people over the years....and it seems the majority of humans are so narrow in their consciousness that they only aspire to a task that can only be described as "collecting proclamations"... rather than doing any actual free thinking and open minded consideration.....even (sometimes especially) of the idea which at first SEEM the most odd, gritty or ludicrous.........

Seriously? He’s as phony as a $3 bill
Phony? Explain.
He didn't take the jab?
I can absolutely agree with this. I have been following Brett since the Evergreen debacle. I have been closely following Brett and his wife, Heather, since the introduction of their Dark Horse podcast. Even though initially, my political views didn’t fully align (originally right of middle, now forced to the right) I still had respect for his views and opinions. The last several years have been one h3ll of a ride, watching and following Brett and Heather, during these years not only kept my thought process in check and grounded but also helped solidify many of my personal conclusions my what I was witnessing happen around me.
@@krshnrsame here. I don't get why he's been getting so much grief lately.
As time goes by, I have more and more respect for Brett. Smart, fair, peaceful and kind. Great communicator.
Brett has gotten a lot of criticism for being long winded. I don’t agree. His answers to questions take me on a journey, and one has to have the patience to travel with him through all his premises he lays down thoughtfully.

Bret and Heather saved my sanity during Covid. I love them both equally.
I hear you. We knew stuff in May 2020 that most people are learning now.
Heather has a feminine maturity that is beautiful no matter what age. I love listening to her and Bret discuss.
Bret is a teacher who everybody would be blessed to have and to learn from for all of their lives.
And I hope those ridiculous Evergreen students who accused him of being racist and caused him loosing his tenure realize how wrong there were.
While it was surely horrible for them, Brett and Heather, and I mean the whole Evergreen debacle, I'm pretty happy it happened. I doubt I ever would have heard of either them if that hadn't, and I'm so happy to have since been able to spend hours listening to them. I've learned so much from them, and I have to admit I don't listen to their podcast nearly often enough (why are there so many good podcasts?!).
There are plenty of sensible friendly academics. I don’t know if they are the majority anymore… but they are around and I think it would have been better for the world if th ey were still biologists. And employed.
What was it Obi Wan said to Darth Vader ?
@@Xplora213 I hear ya, but I won't presume to know anything about their financial or employment situation.
If we're talking about their impact on the world, then if we measure it by the number of individuals who have learned from them, then surely they reach more now than they ever did at Evergreen. I wouldn't be surprised if the average number of people who tune into the Darkhorse podcast on any given episode is larger than number of students they would have taught their entire time at Evergreen.
Whether or not that trade was worth it is for them to decide, not me, obviously. Selfishly, I happily admit, from my perspective it certainly was.
@@iDEATH they are not as secure now. They are subject to censorship constantly and threats to their income. They are dissidents.

This was a great convo between IDW and adjacent folks. I agree that seeing personalities like that come together can often reveal even more insights than they can on their own.
There were a number of topics brought up in this interview that were great to hear the other’s perspective on.
I’ve been wanting The Dark Horse podcast to discuss Rand for a long while and I was gladdened to see Malice expose something about her to Weinstein that it seemed like he wasn’t aware of.

The fact you couldn’t get through the Wire is astounding. Greatest show in the history of television. You can throw True Detective Season 1, Breaking Bad and Sopranos in the argument, but the Wire is absolutely brilliant. As a fan of yours for the past 5 years, I’ve heard you say some shocking stuff…but that one takes the cake 😂
I love The Wire, and Sopranos, and breaking bad, all 3 all time greatsbof tv
The Wire is leftist propaganda, written by a leftist activist. While it's a very 'intelligently written' show, the messaging is tiresome and scapegoaty, but it looks/feels wonderful to most clueless people who are happy to absorb the propaganda.
The Wire starts slow I think. I've started it like three times already. I'm gonna start it again since I've heard from many that it's the best show ever.
@@LeviNotik the entire series is pretty slow, actually. It is a depiction of the sociological, economic, psychological and moral depiction of how drug dealers, drug addicts, police officers, police leadership, politicians, education system, unions, and newspapers all interweave within an urban landscape riddled with crime, corruption, and destitution. And how all of their interactions with one another help to shape the city’s story, as well as how those interactions have ripple effects that can be felt throughout the entire community. There is some action. There is a lot of drama. But a lot of it is dialogue. All 5 seasons are fairly slow relative to most TV shows. Seasons 3 and 4 are two of the best seasons of TV ever recorded, and are bit more fast paced, but they are set up by 1 and 2, since each new season adds another layer. Season 1 is the drug trade. Season 2 is union and labor (using the docks). Season 3 is city government and street leadership in drug gangs. Season 4 is the school system. Season 5 is the newspaper. And each new season still has all the elements of the previous ones in it as well. It’s basically literature on screen.

This is one of my favorite episodes after years of YW
I love how Michael’s opening comments were explaining how much he likes Brett’s diametric opposites to Eric.
Yes our education system is terrible
Having never met Bobby, my own intuition tells me that you are both correct. I think Bobby cares a lot in a very real way, which means he is not a sociopath. However, people like Michael who have looked at how the Venn diagram for politician and sociopath are nearly the same circle know how to see signs that a "Leftist" like Brett cannot see. So, yes, I see all leftists as having sociopathic traits and Bobby is, at the end of the day, a leftist. The reason I link leftism with sociopathy is that they are both about adults trying to control other adults with politics in ways that extend beyond the NAP. Brett is perfectly glad to regulate the hell out of others if HE feels it is for the greater good. The problem is always that imposing his opinions on others, by force, is not loving or compassionate as both Brett and Bobby believe.
So Bobby, unlike many politicians, at least really does care, but his form of caring includes ramming whatever he thinks is "needed" down the throats of everyone else.

Question for Brett concerning the evolutionary function of psychopathy. What if it's not a functional maladaptation, but a hyper response/adaptability to an increased usage of the brain as an organ. We have both a nervous and endocrinal system for signaling the body in a multitude of areas. Could psychopathy be a manifestation of a less endocrinal response and a more neural response to environmental stimuli?
A change in MRI wouldn't rule out a shift from an electrical/neural system response away from an endocrinal response. Different parts of the brain are responsible for both, so a shift should support the theory. No?
I.e., using the neocortex vs limbic system?
I don’t typically listen to the Malice channel but I sorta like Bret so I clicked on. Very early into the discussion I almost clicked out because of Bret’s fawning over RFKJ. But then, Michael gave some of his reservations about Kennedy and I was glad I’d stuck around. I’ve liked many observations that Kennedy has shared but on countless interviews, I’ve also watched him sidestep, deflect and outright refuse to answer direct questions on topics I find VITAL to maintaining a free state and individual freedom. He reminds me of guys I’ve been involved with in their political campaigns who defended similar avoidance of tough questions by claiming that FIRST they needed to be elected and THEN they would be more forthcoming on their positions and how they would implement them. I have zero trust in RFKJ.
If not Kennedy, we are left with Puppet Biden or Trump who we already know will not fight to preserve our Constitutional rights or dig for truth. Ergo, Kennedy it is.
This was an excellent conversation. Nice job Michael!
Dr. Weinstein is absolutely correct, that from before the start you have to be building in filters and counters against corruption, but corruption is still inevitable and unavoidable, and if it can be diverted into being a benefit to the system more than a hazard than it should be
Decentralization and decentralizing functions are the most important prerequisites in countering "corruption". Btw, what do you mean by 'corruption'? I think that dishonesty is the best definition.
@williamclayton9566 checks and balances at every step, or 'node' is the key more than decentralization alone. Otherwise vital information from say one fringe point, a small village or town, will be stopped up at some larger point of the chain, in say a city perhaps, for any number of reasons. Also, dishonesty I would consider both an oversimplification which results in missing the target, or root cause so to speak, and overbroad in the sense that it is sometimes necessary for dishonesty, sometimes absolutely brutal honesty can make things halt in their tracks, or be even counterproductive, because well, people are people, a very varied and mixed bag of nuts. Perhaps Deceitfulness would be a better word for the sort of thing you mean. I would call corruption the sort of thing that makes it so that those who are needed most for whatever talent they have, do not wind up where they are needed most and end up stagnant, stymied in the gutter of obscurity; corruption is the force that impedes that sort of social mobility.
Regarding the sociopath discussion, here's a term I coined: Severe Empathy Deficiency Disorder, or SEDD. Basically, you don't have the normal empathetic responses.
which could possibly be brought on by a wealthy and disconnected upbringing.
Thank you for coining a totally redundant term that describes everything we've known about psychopaths and narcissists for decades. You've made an incredible contribution to the conversation.
RFK jr. is very empathetic, & listens to anyone’s argument more acutely than any politician, & will seriously take into account your suggestions & even change his own views afterwards depending on the strength of your argument (re: kim iversen interviewed him when he was first running for DNC nomination strongly urging him to quit the democrat party & run independently, which at first he resisted then later did exactly that

That's on him if she's the alpha...He is a biologist after all, so i'm sure he's aware of their dynamic
Heather is an impediment to more people in the world hearing Bret's important message.
I keep seeing people say this lately....and I have to disagree....for the first year or so of their podcast Heather was so much quieter....and I think it's GOOD that she speaks up...
That's just their dynamic...you can tell that even tho Bret is as smart as it Gets, he's ALSO a bit of a wayward Burning Man Poet.....he's a bit of a whimsical child....the best quality a grownup can have....

I've been waiting for this to happen and was not disappointed. It was brilliant seeing someone who was historically a "lefty" inadvertently channeling Ayn Rand. Going the other way, it was nice to see Mr. Malice being shown that some of his notions (cold plunge and maybe even intermittent fasting) may be a bit knee jerk. Smart people get things wrong all the time. But these two smart people seem to be honest brokers of information and analysis and are constantly showing a willingness to re-evaluate in the face of new information and perspectives. I hope that Bret is a repeat guest.

My intuition is as clear as Brett's. Rfk is open and as honest as any other patriot.

😄 which idea is awful. Genuinely curious
Yeah, such a "patriot" who said he would sign an 'assault weapons' ban if it came to his desk as president. A "patriot" who said that anyone denying global warming should be sent to jail. Etc. etc. He's just another leftist creep, but we're so damned desperate that he looks good. It's all so pitiful.
I think it's really naive not to notice that the Kennedys are crazy! Reguardless of their good qualities, it has been revealed that they are dysfunctional as heck!
RFK is a recovering herion/alcoholic! His past is reek with craziness. He has been married multiple times for a reason.
If you listen to him tell tales of his times being young with the family fellows, it's just crazy!
Is RFK a Sociopath? It's possible. I hate to go there, but the Kennedy's certainly have moral deficits. Bobby and John both revealed really dishonest, shady sides when it comes to their serial womanizing.
Ted was also a man with an alcohol problem, left a woman for dead and didn't even report it until late the next day. Who does that? A Sociopath certainly might.
Old Joe made his fortune breaking the law selling booze during Prohibition. That was no nice, clean, sane activity.
Michael is not looking through rose colored glasses and I feel there is plenty of evidence for his RFK assessment. It would maybe be nice for RFK to be in Trump's cabinet, but I find him far too volatile to be President.
Great episode glad check this one out
The ads were annoying in this. Good to see Brett, love that guy. Great way of putting words into sentences. Has so much fun with language it’s great.
Thanks Brett! See you next week
Get Bobby on!!!!!
Michael ridiculed Bret on cold plunging exactly the same way Louis C.K. tried to do to Joe Rogan.
What a delight, thank you to Michael, and Bret!
Brett is far more impressive than his brother, in his integrity and his patience. Both intelligent, wise and caring in equal measure. This makes him in a handful of but a few in this world. I share your sentiment Michael and congratulations to you for being so vulnerable and honest with your tribute. Beautiful boys
