    "The facts aren't really important, the facts are just proxies essentially for moral positions, and when you argue against any of the facts people feel like you're arguing against the moral position."
    What a fantastic explanation.

    • @Sandlund93
      @Sandlund93 10 месяцев назад

      Yeah, that seems to be the core of the shitshow. But these things are always dynamic processes. It might get worse before it gets better but sooner or later we are gonna sober up. On all sides. When reality comes knocking ain't nobody gonna have time for this shit, it's a cancer born from people being too prosperous for their own good. Back when people worked 14-hour shifts in the coal mine nobody had the energy to mix facts with moral positions just to keep the argument going. At least not for the sake of keeping it going.
      I mean, it's a good thing that people no longer trust the "facts" coming out from the establishment. But then the trouble becomes: "who do you trust?". And everybody is gonna choose their own pick. And discard everything else as "fake news" or "toxic". So by giving up a uniformity that was misleading us for at least a century, we created a digital tribalism. Hopefully, that will turn out great in the long run. Personally, I think technology is the only answer, we have dug ourselves to tight into these cultural trenches.

    • @RustCole01
      @RustCole01 10 месяцев назад +10

      I'll give him credit. He consistently finds ways to articulate genuinely insightful ideas that most people instinctively agree with but there isn't really a universal way of expressing it.
      I don't care for his stance on covid but I also can't stand the anti v@xx arguments. I honestly think that Destiny could make a better argument than I could, but I think there is an observable reality about viruses like covid, and that is, they are way too unstable to create an effective v@x against. The reason that polio, measles, mumps, small pox etc have been treated so effectively is because they are fairly stable viruses that are way less prone to mutating. Which is why we have nearly eradicated those diseases. But covid is much closer to a cold or flu in terms of our immune response and it's ability to continually mutate.
      I think it just happens to be harmful enough, that people have trouble accepting the possibility that the results are inevitable, regardless of how hard we try to implement medical intervention. Unfortunately, I think most of the people who debate Destiny on this issue are coming at him with much more extreme arguments. But at the end of the day, I just don't support mandates for this particular situation. I fully support making treatment accessible to anyone who wants it, and providing it free of charge. And I still endorse v@x mandates that cover all the classics (small pox, measles, polio etc). I just think that there is a legitimate benefit to developing natural immunity to a virus that is already an insignificant threat.

      that's why if you are a scientist who only cares about empiricism, i.e. "the facts" you don't need to argue with some stupid dingbat whose brain malfunctions or selectively cherry picks the info for themselves. The research on the topic is deep enough, so I will clarify for Destiny: Nazis were indeed socialists. They broke up all the private labor unions and created the largest, State-run Labor Union in the world. If the US President decreed to break up the teamsters, and teachers Union, railworkers and air traffic controller union, etc, and stuck them into the "American Worker Collective" would you say "Yes, that's capitalism at work." No, their policies were Socialism A different kind, a particularly bad kind. If I were a Champion of 'gib me that' policy, I would look at what they did wrong to stay away from it.

      Apparently not deep enough for your tiny brain. The creation of that same "labor" union corresponded with the abolishment of (like you said) independent labor unions, outlawing of collective bargaining (meaning no strikes/protests), inclusion of EMPLOYERS within the union - essentially granting them full power over workers, being able to prohibit them from getting new jobs among other things.
      The leader of the DAF is literally quoted, promising "to restore absolute leadership to the natural leader of a factory-that is, the employer... Only the employer can decide."
      Not very socialist.

    1:05:27 - Yea I'm pretty sure that has always been the stance on bathrooms. Men do not, have not and will not care if a woman comes into the men's room, it happens all the time at sporting events and concerts where they line is too long for the women's room. The issue is unidirectional, people only care about men going into the women's room, the same way we only really care about men invading women's sports, because we as a society have created safe spaces for women since they are generally smaller, weaker, and far easier to physically overpower.

      there's nothing wrong with liking or just respecting a person who many make wrong judgments on just based on how he looks and his "labels".. this was a fun conversation for the fact that it wasn't echo chambered, but they still got along.. labels left at the door as it should be, imo.
      my point is.. where's there an L to be had in a perfectly respectful, probing a diff mentality, conversation? it's a W, if anything, if we want to make the nation come back together again. This was a tiny pebble in helping that.

See the spot he did with a college class that interviewed him like a year ago ... he touted all the mainstream outlets as good arbiters of general truth. I now watch him to get a feel for the narrative the mainstream is pushing, granted, he does have leeway on fringe issues, but he's right in line on the main narrative push. That's the opposite of true - his controversy on campuses is why he became popular.
    He dissapeared from the public eye was purely and solely because of his comments on older gay men in relationships with minors, of which he was a victim. Michael is right, he was Capone'd.

I totally get that is way easier to just agree and go with the flow or group because in most cases it's safer or more fun even but what happened to taking a step back and just analysing situations from the opposite side or a number of different angles because it use to be to fun to figure things out too.. like the truth. I guess that probably just sucks the fun out of it.
